Noisy Oscillator /Comb Filter -Modor , meloDicer-Vermona

Dziam Bass

"Hi All.
Today I took again a very nice Noisy Oscillator module and Comb Filter from Modor Music when I was putting the sequence on my new Melodicer from Vermona.
Noisy oscillator is a two voice digital vco with noise, you can add noise such as SONAR, WIND, ARCADE to its out, each of them you add using the mix knob and it creates your wave becomes a new wave with the addition of noise, which creates obviously new unique sounds.
Comb filter is usually used here as a flanger, I really like this effect and this module also has built-in LFO so basically the flanger moves by itself, as you can see Fb -feedback and speed for LFO and deepth for depth of modulation.
meloDicer is a stochastic sequencer so it's very cool and you can easily get melodic things because the notes are combined with two quantizers, but also just throw the dice to the rhythm or melodies and you have another random melodies still in a melodic way .
whole sequence from melodicer and drums from TwinCusiion also from Vermona triggered by Time wizard and Clock O'Pawn from Shakmat Modular .
for me again crazy fun with these modules .
thanks for watching and have a nice day."

meloDICER/MEX3 — Jam Session with Logic Pro

video upload by vermonagear

"We hooked up two MeloDICER/MEX3-collectives to control software instruments in Logic Pro.

The left meloDICER is playing a bass guitar software instrument with a repeating pattern. The right meloDICER hits the keys of an electric piano plugin. It runs freely without repeating patterns while we are changing some settings regarding REST probability for voices 2 and 3, rhythm and melody.

Logic Pro is the drummer.

We hope you enjoy our little jam session. Feel free to leave a comment below if you have any questions or hints and would be happy to receive a thumbs up from you.

01:45 - activating track 3
02:20 - preparing track 4: Percussive Melody

03:41 - finished performance

"Here we have a small setup consisting of a Mono Lancet ’15 as the sole sound source, a meloDICER with MEX3 as sequencer and ‪@Ableton‬ Live for Loop recordings.
We prepared four tracks in Live to record various synth parts in a live session. We’re setting up all Mono Lancet ’15 sounds on the fly and continuously change parameters on meloDICER for generating different patterns for each track.

All the effects that you hear come directly from Live (delays with a little bit of reverb). The meloDICER is synced through the MEX3 companion module via MIDI clock to Live.

We recommend the use of headphones or good speakers for the full sound experience"

Superbooth 2023:Vermona meloDICER Expander Module CV control of every parameter

video upload by sonicstate

"We spoke to Tomas Haller from Vermona at Superbooth 2023 about their new expansion module for the meloDICER, a random-based sequencer. The new module allows users to control every parameter of the meloDICER via MIDI, enabling automation for every parameter and MIDI output. The meloDICER has a basic note value with a random variation, legato probability, and rest probability.

The probability for each note can be set by adjusting the faders, and the higher the fader, the more probability for the note. The module also adds a second and third voice with accent probability, new rhythms, and melodies. The start and end points for the sequence can be set, and there is a free-running mode with complete random melodies within the scales. The expansion module is expected to be released in summer 2023 for around 200 euros."

Polyphonic Dreams: PERfourMER MKII, meloDICER and MEX3

video upload by vermonagear

"The PERfourMER MKII is sequenced by a meloDICER directly via MIDI through the MEX3 module. With MEX3 the meloDICER can create sequences with up to three voices.

The Floatingpoints Instruments (formerly @ERMErfindungsbuero) Multiclock is used as a MIDI controller for the additional REST parameters of voices two and three as well as for controlling velocity and ACCENT probability.

The @OTOMACHINES BIM is the only effect used in this performance.

Enjoy the show!

Matriarch and Melodicer

video upload by Tim Shoebridge

"Here is a brief 'typing-no-talking' demonstration of the Vermona Melodicer being used in conjunction with the Moog Matriarch and a collection of Behringer 2500 modules.

The Melodicer is really the star of the show in this video, admittedly it is an expensive module but if you are patient they do come up on the used market for good prices, that's how I bought mine.

And the Matriarch? Even though it's Moog and it sells for a lot of money it is IMHO the Bargain of the Century: Four wonderful sounding VCO's, two beautiful sounding analogue low pass transistor ladder filters in stereo configuration, two gorgeous sounding analogue bucket brigade delays in stereo configuration, and more modular patch points than you can shake a stick at. What's not to like?!"

MeloDICER With New MEX3 MIDI Expander Playing Both Eurorack Voices And Alesis NanoPiano

video upload by John L Rice

"The meloDICER’s analog output goes into a Synth Tech E102 Quad Temporal Shifter for my typical four voice Eurorack patch and the meloDICER is also sending out MIDI via the MEX3 MIDI expander to an Alesis NanoPiano. At the beginning you are hearing only the Eurorack voices and then I turn up the volume of the NanoPiano and by the end I’ve turned off the Eurorack voices and just the sound from the NanoPiano synth remains. #modularsynth #electronicmusic #eurorack"

Melodicer vs. Black Sequencer - one or both?

video upload by John Schussler

"I haven't spent much time with the Erica Synths Black Sequencer, and I noticed in a thread the other day somebody mentioning it serving as a substitute for the Vermona Melodicer.

Say what? I have a Melodicer, and it's the cat's meow. Can it really be supplanted by the Erica Synths offering?

They're big modules, so it's worth asking the question. Which is what you have here...me asking the question of whether I keep both or just one.

Source VCO is an Acid Rain Chainsaw. No envelope, just the output gates from the sequencer’s going to a Bard tube LPG.

meloDICER firmware R44 - Walk-through

video upload by vermonagear

"We recently released firmware R44 for the meloDICER, bringing key improvements to MIDI functionality when used with the MEX3 expander module. In this video, we walk you through the new features and show you how to set up the updated parameters.

Firmware R44 introduces:

Individual MIDI channels per voice
A more intuitive menu structure for MIDI IN channel and MIDI clock synchronization
Retained settings for REST2, REST3, ACCENT PROBABILITY, and STANDARD VELOCITY, even after powering down the module"

meloDICER & MEX3 - individual MIDI channels

video upload by vermonagear

"Next month (December 2024), we’re releasing a new firmware update for the *meloDICER*. While it includes some minor improvements, the highlight is the ability to set an individual MIDI channel per voice. Translation? You can now send up to three melodies simultaneously to three different synthesizers using the *MEX3*.

In this demonstration, we’re using two *Mono Lancet ’15*s and a ‪@1010music‬ Fireball:

The synth on the right kicks things off with a deep bass sound, blending sawtooth on oscillator 1 with some noise.
The red nanobox? It’s taking care of a string-like sound.
And the Mono Lancet ’15 on the left is playing a classic sawtooth patch.

All three synths are polished with delay and reverb effects from Logic Pro, just to give things that extra shimmer.

So, what do you think about this new feature? Is it something you see yourself using often, or just another reason to stay up all night making music? Let us know in the comments—we’d love to hear your thoughts!"

Vermona Coming to NAMM 2018

via Vermona

"The new year has just begun and the NAMM Show casts its shadow before. Next week, from January 25th to 28th, the Anaheim Convention Center opens its doors for makers of pro-audio-equipment, instruments and sound machines. VERMONA again will share booth # 10706 with ALEX4, Doepfer and other friends of the branch. Read here about our new products and prototypes.

What is VERMONA showing?
You probably noticed that we worked with great attention on extending our range of eurorack products during the last months. In 2017 we released the twinVCFilter with its extension module, uniCYCLE and quadroPOL to cover the more basic functions of a modular synthesizer system. With these you now can build up a synthesis path using only VERMONA.

At NAMM 2018 we also focus on presenting eurorack-based equipment. Beside our already existing modules we will show some fancy functions for eurorack based systems.

Rhythm and Melody
The first highlight in our Modular Case is randomRHYTHM that we already showed at last year's NAMM. It generates rhythm sequences by combining randomness with a manual set parameters. randomRHYTHM will be available right after we left Anaheim.

It is not randomness that we will also show a first prototype of a sequencer we internally call the meloDICEr. It creates random-based melodies while you are setting the probability of individual notes, range as well as note- and rest-lengths to influence the results. Almost by chance we implemented a mode that makes the meloDICEr a flexible and easy-to-operate quantiser.

Plenty of shapes
At Superbooth 2017 we presented a quad-envelope-generator. Of course we will show that at NAMM as well. Each of its four channels can be triggered individually as Attack-, Hold- or Decay-envelope or be combined with the next channel to generate more complex shapes. Attack and Decay can run with linear or exponential characteristic and you can manually adjust them within a range of 500 microseconds up to 30 seconds. By using an external control-voltage the time can dramatically be shortened or increased. If you want you can get a shape that needs more than two hours (per channel) to reach its end!

The status of quad-envelope-generator is final but we still have no name for it. Do you have any ideas? You can share it with us by sending an email, using our contact form or send a tweet with hashtag #findanameforquadenvelope.

Noise and crosspoints
There are two more module prototypes in a very early development state:

A noise generator with five different colors as well as an additional morphable output.
A programmable crosspoint switch with 16 in- and outputs.
’14 Analogsynthesizer at NAMM 2018
Eurorack is only one part of VERMONA. That's why we present the flagship of our stand-alone-range, the ’14 Analogsynthesizer. You can play it at our booth and tell us about your impression.

Last year we manufactured about the half of the planned 222 instruments with skilled craftsmanship. So we still have a lot to do in 2018. This however, is what we love to do beside making eurorack-based products.

We reached the end of our little preview to NAMM 2018. If you are there, please stop by and say hello at booth # 10706. Swen and Thomas are looking forward to have interesting conversations, meet old friends and make new ones.

We now will have to pack our bags and hopefully don't forget anything. See you in sunny California.

MeloDICER and twinCussion-Vermona/Minimod-AJH Synth/Clock O'Pawn ,Time wizard -Shakmat Modular live

Dziam Bass

"Hello everyone.
for a week I have this meloDICER sequencer from Vermona and I get to know him more and more.
a few days ago I recorded this fast live with it and used Drums twinCussion also from Vermona (Kick and hat) trigger and clock Clock O'Pawn and Time Wizard from Shakmat Modular ( no is in this case but it is used from the second case) and for synth voice modules from AJHSynth as Minimod Vintage Transistor Core VCO, Transistor Ladder Filter, Contour Generator and Discrete Cascade VCA.
I wanted to show this voice and these sequences, also a little fun with resonance and sometimes using longer functions for sequences in fly.
I changed to 12 steps from 16 and as you can see the C slider will also change transpose notes on the fly.
Have fun and thank you for watching .
Have a nice day ;-)"
