SPACE "Save Your Love For Me" 1979 & More

Music Video/Promo Film-Casablanca Records

YouTube via CasablancaBookTV | October 01, 2009 |

Anyone ID the top synth at 1:09 in the second to last (blue) video below?
"AND PARTY EVERY DAY: THE INSIDE STORY OF CASABLANCA RECORDS is a BRAND NEW 320-page, hardcover book from Casablanca cofounder Larry Harris and the authors of KISS Alive Forever. Visit http://www.casablancabook.com to read excerpts from the book and purchase a signed copy directly from the authors.

SPACE: This is an excerpt, from a Kinescope version, of the original 1979 Casablanca Records promo film for Space's single "Save Your Love For Me." SPACE were a French dance band that released two LPs through Casablanca in the late 1970s. Sadly, this is all we have of this wonderful music video; if anyone has a full copy please let us know as we are trying to reacquire several "lost" Casablanca Records film and videotape elements. See our Web site for more details.

AND PARTY EVERY DAY is the very first full-length book about the infamous 1970s record label and its enigmatic founder Neil Bogart. In a blizzard of wild parties, spending, and fearless ambition, Casablanca Records launched the careers of KISS, Donna Summer, Parliament Funkadelic, Angel, the Village People, and single-handedly created the disco movement. Add an Academy Award-winning film division with product like The Deep, Midnight Express, Foxes, and The Hollywood Knights and you begin to understand why Casablanca became the hottest record label of the 1970s. Visit http://www.casablancabook.com to see more Casablanca Records videos."

Flight of the Conchords Ep 6 Bowie's In Space

YouTube Uploaded by r8dkid on Jul 22, 2007

Some synth spotting including a nice imaginary blinky light paneled synth & a knod to Space's Magic Fly (video for reference below). This one in via navs.

"Bowie's in space
Bowie's in space
What you doing out there, man?
That's pretty freaky, Bowie
Isn't it cold out in space, Bowie?
Do you want to borrow my jumper, Bowie?
Does the space cold make your nipples go pointy, Bowie?
Do you use your pointy nipples as telescopic antennae to transmit data back to
Earth?
Bet you do, you freaky old bastard you
Hey Bowie, do you have one really funky sequined space suit?
Or do you have several ch-changes?
Do you smoke grass out in space, Bowie?
Or do they smoke Astroturf?
Ooh!
Receiving transmission from David Bowie's nipple antennae
Do you read me, Lieutenant Bowie?
This is Bowie to Bowie
Do you hear me out there, man?
This is Bowie back to Bowie
I read you loud and clear, man
Ooh yeah, man!
Your signal's weak on my radar screen
How far out are you, man?
I'm pretty far out
That's pretty far out, man
Ooh- ah- ooh!
I'm orbiting Pluto
Ooh- ah- ooh!
Drawn in by its groovitational
(Groovitational pull)
I'm jamming out with the Mick Jagger-nauts
Ooh, and they think it's pretty cool
Are you okay, Bowie?
What was that sound?
I don't know, man
Ooh, it's the craziest scene
Yeah, I'm picking it up on my LSD screen
Can you see the stratosphere ringing?
To the choir of Afronauts singing
Bowie's in space
Bowie's in space
Bowie Bowie Bowie Bowie Bowie Bowie
Bowie's in space
Bowie Bowie Bowie Bowie Bowie Bowie
Eena-ma-ma-meena-mina-mowie
Phasers on funky

OBERHEIM OB-Xa Analog Synthesizer (1980) *Magic Fly* and Happy 2020!

Published on Dec 28, 2019 RetroSound

My last post in 2019. I hope you guys had a good year. When yes than you are lucky. When not, the next will be better surely. I wish all of you a good 2020. Peace and Love.

The track 'Magic Fly' by the French group 'Space' from 1977 was probably one of the first synthesizer tracks that I consciously noticed. These sounds burned into my brain very early on. No idea why.
I wanted to cover the track, but it's actually not a real cover. I interpreted it a little differently and also played it. Everything comes from the #Oberheim #OBXa #Synthesizer , apart from the drums."

Space Magic Fly ~ Vintage Synthesizer Recreation ~ RetroSound

video upload by RetroSound

"(c)2007-24 by RetroSound

One of my favorite instrumental tracks from the late 70s.
Magic Fly by the french group Space from the album Magic Fly (1977)
composed by Didier Marouani (ecama), produced by Jean-Philippe Iliesco

Featured the Moog Minimoog, Oberheim OB-Xa, Moog Source and Boss DR55

This cover song series contains my own recreations of my favourite songs from the last 50 years. The original music from which I take inspiration belong to their respective owners. I recreate tracks only for personal passion and to pay homage to these tracks.
My intention is not to create covers that sound exactly like the original (if you want to hear identical sounds, please listen the original). It's more of an inspiration with my sounds from the old synthesizers from the past and of course the great appreciation for the original performers and producers."

Synth Jams by Jay Hosking

Published on Jul 26, 2019 Jay Hosking

Spotted the first video in the playlist above on discchord.com. The Playlist contains 21 videos. You can use the player controls to skip around. Descriptions for each are below. All videos feature various gear so you should be able to get an idea of some of the capabilities of each featured. You can check out Jay Hosking's music at https://jayhosking.bandcamp.com/.

Note, more will likely get added over time. The following playlist is as of this post:

1. Jam w/ Vermona PERfourMER MkII, Elektron Analog Rytm MkII, OTO Bam, Styrmon Big Sky, Fugue Machine
A live, semi-improvised performance, all on hardware, and inspired by some pretty tough news that has me sentimental.

I loved the Elektron Analog Four MkII so much that I picked up the Analog Rytm MkII. My feelings on the Rytm are mixed. On the one hand, it's missing that spontaneity and spark of units like the Arturia DrumBrute Impact and Teenage Engineering OP-Z, with no readymade performance effects, roller bar, or global randomization, and a slower workflow. On the other hand, I really like its analogue sound engines, any unused tracks can be converted into impressive analogue mono synths, it does beautiful things to samples, and like all Elektron boxes it integrates the effects into the sequencer really nicely.

As for the Vermona PERfourMER MkII, I'd been pining over it for ages, and it was fun to finally tinker with it. The Perfourmer definitely excels in the mid- and high- range, and I love how the independent voices making really interesting voices for chords.

Vermona PERfourMER MkII + OTO Bam — Three synths (left chord note, right chord note, melody)
Vermona PERfourMER MkII + Strymon Big Sky — Bass chord note synth
Elektron Analog Rytm MkII — Drums, samples, sample melody, punchy bass
Fugue Machine (iOS) — Sequencing
IK Multimedia iRig Pro Duo — MIDI out from iOS

Written and performed within a 24-hour period, and uploaded as is, with only a little sidechain compression on the Perfourmer (to emphasize the sound that the Rytm was already making), and compression/limiting on the master.

Arp Odyssey 2800 White Face twins

YouTube via jebeq2007 — April 05, 2010 — "I had these to White Face Odyssey together at one point, and had to film them because I did not think that I would ever see a pair of them together again. The song in the Background is by Space, Magic Fly done in the 70's and yes they did use an Arp odyssey among other great analog synths of the time.
I will probably do so more video's of the Odyssey in the future demonstrating its wonderful sounds."

"my version of another 70's electro classic. It's taken me a while to get the production right, as I wanted the drums as tight as possible (kind of eric pryds style) but to stay true to the original with it's great spacious sound. It's all been lost on youtube's mono mushy decoding , but if you click the link, there's a high quality FLV stereo version at myspace
