Erica Synths x Hexinverter Mutant BD9 sound demo

"Hexinverter’s BD9 is a modular take on the classic TR-909 kick, enhanced with voltage-controlled distortion and added flexibility. Its analog VCO delivers sine or square wave bassdrums, with pitch ranging from 30Hz to 240Hz and full CV control.

"Here I'm showing the Perkons Voice eurorack module by Erica Synths which conveniently gives us access to all the wondrous Perkons HD-01 sounds but in 1/16th the size. Sure, it doesn't have the amazing sequencing capabilities but it does offer other interesting capabilities, like patch selection modulation and in general CV control over all parameters, which can yield beautiful results. And it's possible to get decay layers to up to 4 voices. So lots of drone and ambient sound source capabilities!

Erica Synths Introduces Perkons Voice Eurorack Module

"Erica Synths Perkons Voice is a eurorack incarnation of the percussion voices from the PERKONS HD-01 Drum machine. Like on the drum machine, the module has hybrid architecture, featuring a digital sound engine followed by an analogue multi-mode filter and overdrive. Users can select among 13 sound generation algorithms and save up to 99 presets that can be recalled easily. Tune and Patch CV inputs are configurable for various CV settings and are tuned to 1V/oct. Module also features a 4-voice poly overlap mode and samples on the "Rompler" engine can be easily replaced.

Modor DR-2 tutorial Part 1: Getting started

"The Modor DR-2 is one of what I consider the 'Big Five' in the drum machine world. There's the DR-2, Perkons, Pulsar-23, Rtym MkII and the Alpha Base.

This is not a sound design video, nor do I go through the many sound models and parameter options, that's for later videos. This one is a guide to the DR-2's basic operations, although of course there's plenty of hits along the way. The intention is to explore the many functions of the DR-2 in an ongoing tutorial series.

I've admired this machine for a couple of years and am excited to have got this one on loan from Modor. So it was very cheeky of me to switch out all the knobs for big black grippy ones from Erica Synths, but, well, it just looked too sweet and clean and my Big Box of Knobs is always looking for opportunities.

Soundwise there is a limiter on the output just to avoid any surprises and my voice is damping the drum machine level whenever I speak, which should explain any volume fluctuations.

"This piece came about from the Hardware Jams Facebook Group's pretty epic challenge this week, which was:

'Good night out, just got back from that your favourite music gig. You're in the kebaby drooling over that spit of Donner meat (chicken or falafel options available), contemplating if you're pissed/stupid/both enough to steal that spit of meat/falafel and run it home and a song comes on the radio that stops you. Make that song!'

I used the Ableton Push 3, some samples sourced from Loopcloud, the Erica Synths Perkons drum machine and the Roland TR8s drum machine to create this.
