Heritage Modular - Heritage Synthesizers - Live coding | SynthFest France 2026

video upload by SynthFest France

YouTube is doing its annoying voiceover auto-dubbing on my end. You can enable CC on the bottom of the player and you can mute the sound if you want. You can find the full playlist of SynthFest France 2026 Presentations here.

"Discover the latest evolutions of Heritage Modular, the polyphonic modular synthesizer with presets, with "Delicate Shadows": keyboard, Erae 2, and live coding reveal its multitimbral richness.

As with any creative endeavor, in the beginning, there is nothing… Then comes the encounter of an idea or two, or three, with the machine, THE machine, THE synthesizer that fills your sonic space with its rich sounds.

The moonlit night reveals 'delicate shadows,' like the harmonics of the Heritage Modular's sounds. From this, the track 'Delicate Shadows' was born, to expand the dimensions of the synthesizer itself, to fill the space of a room, if only for a few minutes.

It is the combination of three areas of expertise that allowed this music to come into being: the composition of a gentle, almost melancholic melody; the mastery of the code that makes the speaker diaphragms vibrate; and the electronic design that carries the electrical signal through the circuits, allowing it to vibrate freely.

ORIGAMI + UNDULA DRONE

video upload by LARIX ELEKTRO

"During Synthfest 2026, I gave a presentation of my latest modules, then an improvisation.
The video is already online here: [embed below]

And I take this opportunity to thank the wonderful team of @SynthFestFrance once again !

Of course, I am not happy with my performance. But how could it be otherwise: thinking demo and then music, anyway...
But in the end, upon re-listening, it's not so catastrophic.

Here is another attempt, not necessarily better by the way, but which also features the latest version of the ORIGAMI prototype, and the MACRO modules.
The patch is almost identical, with the ORIGAMI entering in stereo into the UNDULA, serving here as a filter.
The result is a drone evolving very gradually. Sub to noise.
No added FX, and barely any processing for the YouTube upload. Listenable on headphones for the stereo and the sub-bass ;)

Special thanks to the airplane that made repeated flyovers above me at the beginning of the recording !"

SynthFest 2018 - Synclavier History by Jean-Bernard Emond

video upload by SynthFest France

This one is in via Jean-Bernard Emond. Click CC at the bottom of the player for subtitles. This is an older video from 2018 but still interesting. This is also a good reminder that SynthFest France 2026 is happening this weekend: https://www.synthfestfrance.com.

"I invite you to revisit my short 2018 talk (33 minutes), still relevant today, on the history of digital synthesis—specifically FM synthesis. It covers everything from the NED Synclavier to Yamaha’s FM machines, and ends with the audio engines from the Hal Alles family tree (ATT Bell Labs), starting with the Alles Synth, then the Crumar GDS, and finally the DKI Synergy."

Jean-Bernard Emond also sent in the following links:

The latest on WaveFrame’s AudioFrame: https://mustudio.fr/2026/04/17/waveframe-corporation-audioframe-2/

"And another previous piece on audio in NeXT computers, especially focusing on what was developed at the IRCAM and CCRMA research centers: https://mustudio.fr/2024/06/21/sound-on-the-next/"

UVI made a virtual AudioFrame previously featured here.

LIQUID SKY d-vices Introduces the SMUDGETIZER PRO

video uploads by liquid sky artistcollective & liquid sky d-vices

Update: videos added above.

Details:

"LIQUID SKY d-vices SMUDGETIZER PRO
2 bit bitcrusher desktop multi FX
at this year’s SynthFest France,
the Liquid Sky artistcollective from Santana dada Serra, Portugal
launches the first chapter of a new experimental desktop multi fx series
built in the beloved zen delay format.

all units are handcrafted in Santana dada Serra and designed to connect worlds:
cv / gate inputs meet midi clock–syncable modulations - engineered for maximum audio wreckage.

this is not about polite breadnbutter effects:
our d-vices are sonic troublemakers for bad ass artists, noiseheads and
experimental sound labs.

the series begins with the SMUDGETIZER PRO 2bit bitcrusher —
a beautifully destructive stereo machine with integrated lfos,
ready to bend, fkk up, break, and reassemble your sound into something floor-shakingly new and evil.

developed by Thilo Goldschmitz,
it works with pretty much anything you throw at it:
guitars, bass, drums and drum machines, synths, voices,
worldreceivers and of course… noise.

starting today, the pedal is available for PREORDER at:
https://liquidskyeurope.com/products/liquid-sky-d-vices-smudgetizer-pro-pedal

a eurorack version is coming too: 40 hp wide.
yes, we know that’s a lot of rack space.
yes, it’s intentionally big. we love instruments you can actually play.
no, we’re not making a smaller version.
and yes, we’re friends… but you don’t have to remind us every five minutes that it’s a lot of rack space.
<3 :)

the eurorack edition will be available in autumn.

price for the pedal: 299 eur plus vat plus shipping."

New PPG 300 Coming to Synthfest France

Details:

"At this year’s SynthFest France, Cornel Hecht and Dr Walker from the Liquid Sky artistcollective go full in.

They will present a prototype of the PPG Modular 300.

A cult classic reborn

Like the legendary PPG 1002 Mk2, the PPG 300 is built entirely by hand, one unit at a time.

Each component is carefully selected, not just by specification, but by ear.

Every vco is individually tested and matched, acknowledging the subtle variations that make analog circuits come alive.

The team promises finest analog sound:

Raw, deep, and precise enough to satisfy the most demanding ears.

Visitors are invited to experience the instrument in person at the Liquid Sky booth, talk to the Liquid Sky family, and dive into their universe of music / experimental films / trees and dada art.

If you can’t make it to Synthfest France, the PPG 300 sound monster will appear live at the 303 Years of Liquid Sky Cologne at Artheater Cologne Ehrenfeld on may 30.

https://de.ra.co/events/2251932

The first PPG 300 units are expected to ship later this year."

Drift DJ Industries Unveils Zero Pocket-Sized Mixing, Playback and Recording Device

video uploads by Drift DJ Industries

Press release follows:

Drift DJ Industries Unveils Zero, a pocket-sized mixing, playback and recording device for djs and electronic musicians

CHICAGO, April 13, 2026. Drift DJ Industries announces Zero, a palm-sized, battery-powered, all-in-one audio mixing, performance and recording system. With its portability and instant-on playability, Zero’s standalone 2-deck DJ system empowers DJs to break outside of the booth and bring their sound to any space. Through it’s DAWless and hybrid DJ-oriented external device sync, audio signal mixing, deep routing configuration and built-in recorder, Zero collapses key functions into a single machine, reducing the amount of hardware required to craft any sound.

Zero: Portable DJ, DAWless, Mixing and Recording

Big-Rig DJ-Features in the Palm of Your Hand

Don’t be fooled by Zero’s small size. Its robust feature set includes DJ-quality time-stretching, dedicated headphone cues, filters and FX for each playback deck. With physical controls organized in a familiar-two channel DJ mixer layout, our device is perfect for DJs who want to forgo larger laptop and controller-based setups while retaining the tactile feedback not found on mobile apps. Leave the cables and power supplies at home. Never get a meeting invite in the middle of a mix.

Compact Machine with DAW-Like Powers
Zero’s wildly-flexible signal routing UI lets users control every link in the signal path. Glue together any collection of music-making gear by routing signals from aux busses and the decks between the analog and USB I/O ports.

For example: Route audio from a Dirtywave M8 and a Roland S-1 into Zero’s analog input ports, and individually trim and EQ each device. Bus those signals together and send/return to a Hologram Chroma Console. Route that signal into the crossfader to mix the effected M8 and S-1 sound with the DJ decks. Add an OXI E-16 and map individual knobs to the M8 and S-1 bus’s post-fader, EQ controls and bi-modal filter cutoff (input control mapping is slated for post-launch release). Record several minutes of knob-tweaking as a .wav file to Zero's internal storage. Re-import that .wav file, add cuepoints and a beatgrid, and loop and layer it in with other inputs and DJ playback.

Built to Evolve
Zero is a new hardware platform and a custom Linux distribution running front-end software from our own publicly-available open source SDK. It ships with the DJ playback, library, external sync, signal routing and recording features, and it includes on-device software management for easy install of future updates. Planned updates include control input mapping, video output for streamers, third-party library support (including rekordbox and Engine DJ) and accessibility features. It fits in a fanny pack, but Zero will develop new capabilities by the truckload.

See our device specs and release roadmap for more info.

Meet Zero in Person
Stop by our exhibitor tables at the following events:
SynthFest France, Nantes, April 17th-19th
Superbooth, Berlin, May 7th-9th

Pricing and Availability
Zero is in presale and priced at $899, with an expected release date of Summer 2026.

SynthR10's Final demo : "The Running" #analogsynth #electronicmusic #musicgame #originalsoundtrack

video upload by KurtzMindfields

"Here is my latest demo of the SynthR10 (for a long time) ahead of Synthfest France 2026, where two SynthR10s will be showcased at the booth and on stage. For me, the SynthR10 is a fantastic, resolutely modern analog synthesizer for my artistic work and as a game music composer (Microids/abigoba), offering a pleasure you don’t get with VSTs: playing live and turning the knobs, making every day a different musical adventure...
Live SynthR10 #1: polysequencer (sync LFOs, 2 FILTERS ACTION)
Live SynthR10 #2: split MOOG bass / Pad with aftertouch & lead synth.
Sync with KORG Electribe II.
All sounds are my own creations.
Demos are always frustrating for me; I prefer the stage and albums... lol"

SynthFest France 2026 Set for April 17 - 19

"SynthFest France is expanding!

Great news for SynthFest France 2026! Dear synth enthusiasts, we are thrilled to announce that SynthFest France 2026 is moving to a larger and even more suitable venue. SynthFest France 2026 will take place on April 17, 18, and 19, 2026, at the Centre de Congrès de la Fleuriaye in Carquefou.

Why the change? The Théâtre de l’Odyssée, which has hosted us since 2023, is a venue we love, but our festival is growing thanks to you. With record attendances in 2024 and 2025, we need a more spacious venue to ensure your comfort and that of our exhibitors. No more temporary structures: the new venue offers modern spaces, a capacity of up to 1,500 people, an 800-seat auditorium, modular spaces, easy access, and improved public transport connections, just 20 minutes from the center of Nantes.

Why Carquefou? The Fleuriaye Convention Center, currently undergoing renovations to meet High Environmental Quality standards, will be ready to welcome us with state-of-the-art technical facilities, catering areas, meeting rooms, and an optimal setting for everyone. This new phase marks a step up for SynthFest, and it's all thanks to your loyalty and passion.

See you in April 2026 for an even bigger and better festival!"
