"Start at 1:20 for a little fun jam.
Got some time to work on "tbish" TB-303 emulator in CircuitPython.
This video shows some of the updates.
The updates include:
new mapped_pot_controller to allow the pots to have different modes
sequencer has separate lane for slides so that accent & slide can happen on same step
tbish_synth now has 4 different waveforms to choose from
can edit the sequence steps, both notes and accents/slides/mutes
can switch between sequences
can adjust bpm & steps_per_beat
actually using the LEDs

"Obsidian is a track that emerged through working with the Digitakt II.

In this video, I break down the elements of the track, but more importantly how the ideas took shape. Not just what is happening, but how the Digitakt II actively shaped the music.

All synth sounds are sampled from the Arturia AstroLab 37. Rather than sequencing notes directly, full phrases and musical ideas were recorded into Digitakt II and then explored, reshaped and refined from there.

Drum sounds come from Digitone II, sampled and processed inside Digitakt II as part of the same workflow.

This isn’t just a track breakdown. It’s also the starting point for a short series of videos about how Digitakt II has changed the way I approach sample based music production, composition, and discovery. More on that very soon.

"Thought I'd do a Silent Servant-esque deep minimal thing, but before long it ended up way too crowded to be anything like his work. Still, it was a lot of fun! Also become super comfortable with the interface of the TR-1000 over the last few days, more than I ever was with the TR-8S.

The sub is a 303 processed through iZotope Trash 2 then tweaked to work with the kick, which is the analogue 909. The TR-1000 has enough headroom to cope with massive subs, and the analogue drive glues everything together.

Novation BassStation: Everybody Needs A 303 (and then some)

We’ll talk about the story of its development, the market at the time of its release, and comprehensively cover the features of the BassStation from the oscillators, filters, envelopes and utilities.
