"Hainbach’s Bandpass Filter
Octaves is our latest collaboration with Berlin-based composer and YouTuber Hainbach. It is a filter plugin designed to take apart the audio spectrum in spreads of octaves, allowing for unique and enchanting spectral sound design effects. Octaves gives you a retro-scientific approach to sound that echoes the timeless productions created in the BBC Radiophonic workshop or the WDR Studio für Elektronische Musik by the Avantgarde masters, and modern places like Willem Twee, Strøm, and Hainbach’s own laboratory.
Octaves is available for macOS, Windows, and Linux (VST2, VST3, AU, AAX, CLAP).
It’s also available on the App Store for iOS and iPadOS (AUv3 and Standalone).
"In this video we look at the early history of #expressive synthesizers, and why #Trautonium is my favorite design. Then we make a #synthdiy Trautonium using an #otamatone as the oscillator. I also share a change in priority for Sound Workshop."
"Join us for an exploration of TRAILS as part of our Pedals & Patches series of videos, exploring pedal FX with modular gear, synthesizers, around the studio and with some other instruments too. Pedals aren't just for guitarists, so lets get creative with them!
Trails offers 7 FX that make your sounds sustain and grow, there's resonators (think Rings) with sympathetic strings, bell like chord generation, live and frozen buffer granular processing, a unique distortion like nothing I've used before, micro loopers, pitch shifting delays, vinyl record emulating delays and more!"
"It's a pleasure to look back at the last Machina Bristronica event (2025) and share this video with Tom Whitwell of Music Thing Modular from the DivKid Discussions stage. We talk about origins, Thonk acting like a record label, Turing Machines, Radio Music and the Workshop System which has inspired and built community and created collaborations, before rounding out on some unexpected connections to Planet of the Apes!
Machina Bristronica is taking a year off for 2026, but will be back in 2027. Check out videos from the DivKid Discussions stage, Machina news and updates and all about Music Thing Modular at the links.
"The Alan R Pearlman Foundation welcomes Visiting Artist Kristina Warren to a week-long Residency as she explores new ways to work with the ARP 2500 and other synthesizers.
Culminating projects will conclude later this year as she will be offering a workshop.
Kristina Warren is a versatile and imaginative sound artist, composer, and performer based on Narragansett land, also known as Providence, Rhode Island [US]. Warren presents a wide variety of work, ranging from synth voyages and digital soundscapes to concertina meditations, installations, workshops, and more. All this work aims in various ways to highlight the vast and transportative ebbs and flows of individual and collective listening. Praised as “beautifully organic” (Peter Bruyn, Haarlems Dagblad) and having “a finesse of timbral traces” (Frédéric Cardin, PanM360), work by Warren has been presented internationally at venues including Flux Festival Montréal [CA], Synth Library Prague [CZ], MuseumsQuartier Wien [AT], Experimentik Berlin [DE], IOIC Zürich [CH], The Bluecoat Liverpool [UK], Elastic Arts (Chicago), Light & Sound Design (Brooklyn), and Rhizome (DC). kmwarren.org"
Disclaimer: This is an unofficial add-on to the M user manual, describing some of extra features added from firmware 1.05 up to firmware 1.11. This add-on also covers some complex aspects of the Multi Mode, which remains somewhat unusual.
Author: Vladi Salnikov aka VladiS.
Algorithms of FW version 1.11:
Varysaw: A VA oscillator ranging from SAW through PULSE to TRI.
Wave (red encoder): Mixes from 0 to 31 from SAW to PULSE; 32 is pure PULSE, and 33 to 63 mixesfrom PULSE to TRI.
Meta parameter: Pulse width for PULSE, adjustable from 5% to 95%.
CSAW: A famous Yamaha CS-80 saw oscillator with mutation towards a parabolic oscillator.
Wave : Controls the amplitude of the “step” component of the saw wave.
Meta parameter: Mixes between this saw wave and the parabolic saw wave.
Waveshpr: A SAW to TRI oscillator fed into a mild waveshaper.
Wave : 0 is pure SAW, 1-62 mixes between SAW and TRI, and 63 is pure TRI.
Meta parameter: Depth of the waveshaper.
TriplSaw: A stack of three SAW oscillators; two are detuned slightly higher and lower than the third.
Wave : Controls the amplitude of the “central” SAW oscillator relative to the two “side” SAWs.
Meta parameter: Detuning factor, from 0 to maximum detune.
S/T Fold: A SIN wave folding oscillator that folds the chosen crossmixed wave between SIN and TRI waves.
Wave : 0 is pure SIN, 1-62 mixes between SIN and TRI, and 63 is pure TRI.
Meta parameter: Folding depth.
FM 2 OP: Classic simple two-operator FM synthesis. OP1 (modulator) generates a sine wave that modulates the phase of OP2 (carrier). Both operators generate sinewaves; the algorithm's output is the carrier signal.
Wave: Maps values from 0 to 63 to harmonics ratios of 1 to 8 in stepped increments.
Meta parameter: Amount of phase modulation applied to the carrier.
"On November 20, 2025, This Is Not Rocket Science (TiNRS) visited our showroom in Berlin. In this recording of the evening, Priscilla and Stijn Haring-Kuipers present their latest Eurorack modules, the legendary Fenix IV, and provide insights into their creative applications for experimental sound design.
Special attention is given to modules such as BOPP & STEVE, which beautifully demonstrate how far reverb and effects processing can be taken in a modular context. The presentation is complemented by a live performance by Serge Jansen, Priscilla, and Stijn, who use TiNRS modules in a hardware-based modular live set and demonstrate their strengths in a stage context.
Recorded at the SchneidersLaden showroom, Berlin-Neukölln."
"Another dive into synthesiser patch exploration and sound design. This one uses the analogue section of the Music Thing Modular Workshop System, pushing it into gurgling, chaotic, self-patched territory.
"our Bumpy #LinnStrument Surface makes it easier to play by feel instead of by sight. We’ve shipped over 150 surfaces for LinnStrument 128, and preorders are now open for LinnStrumenf 200. Shipping in Feb 2026. Order before Dec 8 for a 15% discount.
"One BLACK aftermarket silicone surface for LinnStrument 128. LinnStrument not included.
This surface makes it easier to play LinnStrument by feel instead of by sight. Each row is shaped like a long speedbump, which has three benefits:
Guides fingers to stay on target during long pitch slides
Provides confident tactile feedback when shifting a finger up/down between rows or hitting a double stop
Allows more intentional Y expression by feeling for the front, back, or crest of the bump
The grooves are centered over the top of the notes, instead of on the boundaries. The way the finger can feel when it's on target.
The root note bumps or dots have been removed to make alternate tunings easier.
This surface is great for playing LinnStrument with eyes closed or playing with two hands.
International Customers: prices listed do not include import taxes or fees. Please note that you may need to pay an additional custom when importing.
Black Surface Back Side Cosmetic Issue (Oct 22, 2025): the remaining 8 black surfaces have unintended paint application on the back side. After installation this is not visible to the user, and it has no functional impact. Some examples are shown here. We apologize for the suboptimal appearance. The price has been reduced %10 for the remaining stock. Thank you."

"Welcome to the first published 'Instruōdio' session video.
My studio at Instruō HQ has gradually shifted to become more of a video room with occasional music project focus. But it is working really nicely as a space to record discussion sessions with artists and makers.
This is Tom Scholefield (aka Konx-om-Pax)
I've had the pleasure of gigging with Tom a number of times along side others on the Instruō crew.
Tom is an incredible visual artist and composer/sound designer.
We spoke about doing a session like this for ages and finally got together and recorded a few.
In this video Tom gives me a very detailed tour of the patch behind La Création Du Monde
https://konx-om-pax.bandcamp.com/
This has been toured and performed internationally. It is both visually and sonically spectacular.
Tom has been very generous sharing his process and various Touch Designer secrets he's created and discovered. This session was a lot of fun to host and produce.
Tom also has a brand new album out that releases today!

Uaxactum marks the fifth studio album from Glasgow-based artist Tom Scholefield, better known as Konx-om-Pax.
Following 2020’s Astronomical Objects, this release transcends the boundaries of a traditional record—serving as the sonic counterpart to an ambitious audio-visual work of the same name, commissioned by Glasgow’s Cryptic.
Conceived during an artist residency at Arthouse Jersey, a former army barracks turned creative haven, the album emerged from a period of focused isolation. This environment afforded Scholefield the rare opportunity to develop both score and visuals in tandem, resulting in a deeply integrated multisensory experience. The piece premiered at Sonica 2024 in the Glasgow Science Centre IMAX Theatre, where hallucinatory visuals collided with immersive sound design. A second performance followed in May 2025 as part of the Glasgow 850 celebrations.
The Wire described the work as -
'a tentacular dreamscape where oil slick rainbow colours mutate across an IMAX cinema screen, in synesthetic flow with his tense Penderecki-inspired soundtrack.'"

"Kraakdoos (aka Cracklebox) is an experimental electronic musical instrument designed by Michel Waisvisz in the 1970s. This device allows you to produce sound by completing the circuit with your fingertips — each touch creates a different tone, intensity and character. This version, revived with VAEMI's modern design, features: • Transformer-isolated line output, • Internal speaker and external output option, • LM709 op-amp based analog circuit, • 9V battery operation. All PCB and electronic components of the synthesizer you see in the picture will be provided to you as part of the workshop fee. You just need to come to the lesson without bringing anything with you. We will also provide the necessary materials such as a soldering iron, solder, flux, speaker, battery. If you have done a few soldering jobs before, these lessons may be perfect for you. At the end of the lesson, you will have your assembled synthesizer. At the beginning of the lesson, you will be given all the electronic components and a set of schematics and our synthesizer. Relevant notes will be distributed. After introductory topics such as "What is electricity?", "Basic information about the electronic materials used", and "Reading schematics", we will proceed step by step on the synthesizer, section by section, understanding how each section works. At the end of the lesson, we will all be playing our synthesizers together. During the workshop, participants will build their own Crackleboxes, learn the electronic structure of the device, and finally take home their own instrument. 🎶 📩 Registration & information: @vaemisynth

"On September 24, 2025, things got wild at SchneidersLaden’s showroom: William from WMD presented the brand-new Skorpion module – a powerful analog wavefolder developed over five years.
With 8-stage wavefolding and a strong vector core, Skorpion offers a direct and engaging way to shape sound without screens or menus. True to WMD’s reputation for quality, this may very well be the last wavefolder you’ll ever need.
The workshop provided a deep dive into the art of wavefolding, modular sound design techniques, and featured a live performance showcasing Skorpion in action.
For everyone interested in exploring wavefolding further – here’s the full recording of the evening."
"There is not many Technosaurus modular demos in youtube so we take profit of have one in our workshop for check and then put for sale. This modular synthesizer makes honor to his name:
Is old, is very rare and difficult to find one in good shape and working, is big and heavy, the sound is like a big roar and can bite! Really impressive to have one for look and for sound. It is very very special sound and behaviour, but have a lot of vintage essence, and remember a lot of the high quality sounding synthesizers from the early years, but adding modern connectivity with MIDI and standard CV/GATE with volt/octave norm.
A pleasure to have a very fine audio quality, clean and crispy, depth, with lot of dynamic range but at same time and old vintage essence. The frequency response is huge, with very low bottom and clean and vivid treble, low noise leaves, and the transients and fast times are fabulous. A wonderful balance between the classic old essences and sounding and modern and hi-fi details. Is very difficult to find a system with this personality, very unique.
All the modules are wonderful, but the triple resonator is incredible.
Here is an improvisation demo showing the melodic features, using it in a multi-timbral way, with different sequence sounds, basses, leads, percussions and noises, all in real time. For make that I use the Antonus Step Brother for take all the profit of the possibilities. The combination of the Technosaurus with the Step Brother is awesome, only need to use adapters from minijack to 1/4 jacks. Just direct sound, no post processing, no EQ, no multitrack.

"Step inside the legendary garage workshop of Tom Oberheim—the birthplace of some of the most iconic sounds in music history. In this rare behind-the-scenes tour, Tom shares his latest creation: a custom-built computer he’s designing entirely from scratch—just because he loves the way it sounds.
Along the way, Tom opens up his treasure chest of innovations, showing us priceless prototypes from his storied career, including the original Maestro Phase Shifter prototype and circuit boards that paved the way for his groundbreaking synthesizers.
I’m joined by Rob Rosen (Rosen Sound) and Marcus Ryle (Alesis, Line 6) as we hear directly from Tom himself, walking through this sacred space filled with history, innovation, and pure sonic imagination.
👉 Don’t miss this intimate glimpse into the genius of a true pioneer."
"I know that sounds over the top - but it’s true.
It taught me to listen more deeply.
To embrace imperfection.
To find creative flow again, and more importantly… to find JOY in my music-making again.
Rediscovering the joy of experimenting, exploring, and making weird sounds just for fun. 🙂
I’m teaching a free online class next week – it’s equal parts about getting started with modular synths, AND about simply giving yourself permission to experiment and play.
Permission to try something new.
Permission to follow your curiosity and see where it leads.
If you’ve been curious about the world of synths but not sure where to begin, this class was made for YOU.
It’s free, it’s beginner-friendly, and you don’t need any special gear.
Go to the link in my bio if you’d like the link to register."
"When I was first learning modular synths, people would tell me that the best way to learn was to “just plug cables in, turn knobs, see what happens—you’ll figure it out!” Even today I sometimes get messages when I share my online modular synthesis course, saying “Who needs a course to learn this? Just plug cables in!” On the one hand, I completely agree that exploration, experimentation, & play are super valuable parts of learning any new instrument, & you CAN get really far with modular just by listening, turning knobs, & seeing what emerges. But—I also remember how I personally felt when I was told that as a beginner. I’m sure their intentions were for me to feel inspired, lighter, & less concerned with “getting it right.” But instead? I felt paralyzed. “What do you mean, just plug things in!? Where do I even begin? What if I break something?” I’m sure this works for some; but for me the lack of guidance made me lock up & get super nervous. Instead of experimenting, I felt overwhelmed & stupid for not “getting it” right away. I’m sharing this because I’ve realized over the years that this isn’t unique to me. Some folks work well with exploring & others thrive in a more structured environment. I create all my synthesis classes for folks in both worlds, who want to get deeper into their music-making AND want support to help them get there. The amazing thing is that for SO many of the ppl who initially feel overwhelmed, as soon as they’re given step-by-step structure & support they immediately feel more empowered to experiment—& from there? They take off 🔥🚀 PS: If you haven't heard yet, I'm running a free live workshop (online) next week, all about getting started with modular synths—with clarity and confidence, instead of overwhelm and doubt. I'll share the first steps to getting started, a simple process for building synth patches, how to develop your sound design skills, and we'll have an open Q+A to address any of your questions live! Go to the link in bio for the link to register! 🥳"
