Music of the wind: a modular Aeolian harp

video upload by Electrum Modular

"Combine a modular synth with a wind gauge and you get what we might call an electro-aerophone: an electronic instrument that can transform the wind into music … and, in the process, reconnect us to our environment.

On this second trip to the park, I simulate an Aeolian harp with the help of an eight-band, resonating filter bank, a comparator, and an addressable sequential switch.

Beat Friend Drum Machine Demo

video upload by audio.computer

"Beat Friend is a benevolent, semi-autonomous analogue drum machine. It wants to help."

"Beat Friend is the first offering from audio.computer, a UK-based duo making ‘benevolent, semi-autonomous music machines’. Beat Friend is an analogue drum machine, using circuits based on the ‘twin-t’s from the legendary Roland CR-78. Each drum has a slider that changes the drum’s complexity within one of the 30+ preset patterns, which already allows hundreds of variations on any given beat.

But wait! There’s more! Turning the Enthusiasm knob allows Beat Friend to add or subtract notes from the pattern as it sees fit, either keeping the pulse of the pattern or going completely off piste. It's like having an enthusiastic robot Labrador playing a 70's electronic drum kit just for you.

All the sounds are routed through a Triforce of digital and analogue effects, which...well, you just have to turn knobs to find out what they do. If you’ve ever wanted to base a track on a 7/8 samba through a bit-and sample crusher, then this is the unit for you.

And, sure, if you’re a control freak who absolutely must design every bar, you can control the drums individually via MIDI. It even includes a letterpress-printed manual, numbered to match your unit.

Beat Friend plays in glorious mono and is powered by a universal 12V power supply (included in the box)."

ELTA Music POLIVOKS PF3 mk.2

!updated version!

FILTER modes - Lowpass, Bandpass, Hi-pass, Notch.

NOISE generator - pink, white and channel balancing.

FILTER 1 and FILTER 2 - CV controls.

LINK switches to control two filters and CV at the same time with one slice knob.
SOFT/HARD cutoff control

Technical specifications:

Input audio signal level: Max 1.5 V
Modulation CV input: - 5 to +5 V or 0 to + 10V

Power supply: universal mains adapter 100-220V / 12V 1A out
Filter weight: 0,7kg

Packed weight: 1 kg

Dimensions: 175x135x50mm

WARNING! Before using the device, turn it on for 5-7 minutes and let it stand. The control transistor should warm up. So that in SOFT mode there is no feedback when the FREQ knobs are in zero position. If you overdo it. The UD1208 chips used in the filter are very sensitive and are never the same. Therefore you will not mathematically get two identical filters. Which is an advantage when using the unit in stereo.

California Highway 163: San Diego's beautiful and scenic freeway

video upload by CatSynth TV

"We take a trip along California Highway 163 (Cabrillo Freeway), a particularly beautiful freeway in San Diego. It beings as a historic parkway running through Balboa Park and under Cabrillo Bridge. After its interchange with Interstate 8, it opens up to a wide modern freeway until its northern terminus at a junction with Interstate 5. Along the way we also pass Interstate 805 and California Highway 52.

The southern parkway section of CA 163 was once part of US 395, which extended all the way to downtown San Diego.

The music reflects the two sections of the highway, with a noticeable change when we move from the historic parkway to the modern freeway.

Original music features the following instruments:

Favourite Synths : Episode 3 : Roland JUNO-6

video upload by Luke Million

"For Episode 3 of My Favourite Synths, we are diving into the world of the Roland Juno Series with their first offering - the Juno 6.

It's an extremely straightforward synthesizer and can sound thinner than the big Poly Synths of that time. But I find this can be a positive with tighter sounds and there is the famous Chorus effect on there to beef things up and give the sound extra dimension.

It is like a 6 voice polyphonic version of the SH-09 with a digitally controlled oscillator, chorus and an arpeggiator.

The perfect first synth for someone who wishes to start a journey into the world of hardware synths and wants something vintage that is reliable.

More Episodes to come so stay tuned!

Favourite Synths : Episode 2 : Oberheim OB-8

video upload by Luke Million

"In Episode 2 of 'My Favourite Synths' we're taking a look at my favourite synth of all time, the Oberheim OB-8

I have used this Polyphonic Analog Powerhouse on nearly every original song, official remix, recreation and audio/visual project I have produced since I acquired it over 15 years ago.

And this is my longest video to date, clocking in at just over 30 minutes!

The OB-8 is recorded through a Universal Audio Volt 476 and the individual voice panning is set to about a 20% width.

Released in 1983, the Oberheim OB8 is a premium analog synthesizer with 8 voices of polyphony, the ability to split and double sounds, individual panning for each of the voices, 3 LFOs, Polyphonic Portamento and an Arpeggiator."

MakeNoise MultiMod | New Universal Synthesizer System | Episode 01

video upload by Cinematic Laboratory

"The MultiMod is the first module in the New Universal Synthesizer System (NUSS), but also the first module designed by the new MakeNoise expanded development team. I am not sure, but it seems they managed to capture one of Moog's former lead designers who also contributed to the Muse. As always, expectations were high, but as always, MultiMod generously exceeded them.

Yes I know it's 'just' a digital mult with built in waveforms, and everything that comes in, goes out eightfold. It's either identical, like a true mult, or shifted in phase, reshaped or skewed. It can be clocked and frozen. I should have been impressed by having eight LFOs in various speeds and shapes but I know how to make music with those. In 2025, most of us do. However, running the MultiMod with audio rate signals is pure bliss. It's not advertised as such, I don't think MakeNoise even mentioned it in the manual or in their official videos which almost seems they've already seen an 'audio processor' in some secret office. I am speculating here, but a New Universe is bound to expand.

For me personally, biased and subjective, is one of the best effects you can get for your modular, even though it's not supposed to be one. The only thing I regret is ordering a second one for stereo crosspatching."

Make Noise MultiMod | Overview & Explorations

video upload by Sarah Belle Reid

"A walkthrough of Make Noise’s newest Eurorack module, MultiMod, a multi-function modulation utility—with a few tricks up its sleeve.

This video contains a module overview, demo and patch tutorials. We’ll start with a panel tour of the MultiMod, and then dive into different patch examples that use MultiMod as a multi-LFO tool and a CV processor. I'll also share some "extended techniques" (ways of using MultiMod that extend beyond its intended use case), and demonstrate some ideas for using it to generate and process sound in unusual ways."

This is Make Make Noise Multimod: From One Comes Many

With MultiMod...from one control signal, we create many.

MultiMod represents a new approach to complex modulations: it takes a single control signal and copies it 8 times, additionally modifying those copies by weighted adjustment of their relative phase and speed. The result is a flock of related modulation signals, all derived from the same single input.

Phase sets the spacing of the signal copies in time, weighted by channel, with each progressive channel getting more out of phase from the original Signal and from each other. Spread allows for varispeeding the copies by different amounts, with each getting progressively faster or slower than the original Signal. Time determines the range of time captured at the input and therefore also the depth of modulation across copies of the input signal when Phase and Spread are manipulated. MultiMod also includes Tempo, Hold, and Reset features, and a variety of Read Shapes for temporal rearrangement of input signals.

When the input is not patched, MultiMod generates an LFO that is copied eight times and manipulated in the same ways.

MultiMod is built on a brand new DSP hardware developed for the New Universal Synthesizer System. It offers eight high resolution outputs, with signal input and output ranges approaching the upper limits of the analog eurorack modular system. All I/O is capable of a 20V range at +/-10V, greatly exceeding the typical 0-5V CV input ranges on typical digital modules.

Features

Generate vari-speeded, phase modulated copies of any modulation signal.
Dramatically control 8 CVs with just 3 fully modulatable parameters.
Multiple unique read shapes for varying traversal through copied signals
Tempo/Reset inputs and Clock output for temporal system integration
Hold feature for looping captured signals
Ultra-Wide 20V p-p I/O ranges approach analog maximums of the eurorack system
Full TechniColor, Maximum Blinkenlights
Calibrated to accurately pass critical control signals such as quantized pitch CV
Internally generated signals for “LFO mode” when nothing is patched to the Signal Input.

Latenight Jam // Oberheim meets ModX

video upload by OlTo

"After watching some Moog Prodigy Videos I wanted to create a similarly fat leadsound on the OB6. This is what i came up with. The hidden Distortion on the OB6 helped a great deal and so did running it through the Universal Audio 'Galaxy' Tape Echo.

The FM Bass from the ModX doesn't need to hide either when paired with the fat analog sound, that the OB6 produces.

A volcanic mixture ;)"

J3PO King Korg Neo Presets -- Official Sounds Demo

video upload by J3PO

"You can purchase the preset pack here:
https://www.julianpollack.com/shop
The introductory price is $29.

All FX (chorus, reverbs, delays, etc.) are coming from within the patches themselves i.e. there's no other external processing on this demo save for some slight light leveling/compression for the purpose of uploading to YouTube.

The King Korg Neo is an unexpected gem, challenging assumptions about what a compact, portable, digital synth can be. Its sound is both vibrant and complex, weaving warm, analog-like textures with modern digital tones that feel raw yet polished. With a bold 24-voice polyphony and versatile oscillators, the King Korg Neo manages to feel timeless and forward-looking, carrying an unmistakable authenticity.

I also have patches available for the Prophet Rev 2, Prophet 6, OB-6, OB-X8, Prophet 5/10, Softube Model 84, Model 72, Arturia OB-Xa, Arturia Stage-73 and many others. If you're a Nord Stage 3 user, download my bank from the Nord Keyboards website. I have a sample pack, "J3PO x The Ox" (hip hop and soul keyboard and drum loops) available on Splice.

About the sound designer: Julian “J3PO” Pollack is a Los Angeles-based pianist/keyboardist and producer described by Timeout New York as a musician who “deftly balances virtuosity with tenderness.” Julian is known for his innovative use of keyboards and synthesizers in jazz, fusion, hip-hop, and electronic styles of music. Julian has toured extensively with the legendary artists Marcus Miller and Chris Botti, as well as performing with greats such as Herbie Hancock, Talib Kweli, David Sanborn, Michael League, Eric Harland, and others. Julian has worked closely as a sound designer with keyboard/synth companies Nord Keyboards, Sequential, and Oberheim, and has created factory presets for the Prophet 5, the Oberheim OB-X8, Take 5, Nord Stage 3, Nord Wave 2, and many others. In addition to these hardware keyboard companies, Julian also has done sound design for Universal Audio, Softube, and Cherry Audio.

Currently, Julian works exclusively with Spectrasonics in Pasadena, California."
