Send Me An Angel by Real Life COVER performed on an Oberheim OB-8 and Sequential Pro 3 with vocals
Sean Christopher Evoking Emotion with Synthesizers
"Oh how I loved this song and album (Real Life's Heartland) back in the 80's as a teenager, and Send Me An Angel has to be in my top ten pop songs of that entire decade. In fact, I recommend that you buy Heartland if you love this song. Needless to say, I've always wanted to cover this piece and finally got around to it. For synth bass duties I used my Sequential Pro 3 and for everything else synth I used my beloved Oberheim OB-8 which did a fantastic job recreating those 80's synth patches. For drums and guitars I used NI's Kontakt and Battery.
A big thank you to Tim Murphy for providing the lead vocals. Until this cover, Tim has not sang for over 20 years, but with a little coaching from my wife gave us a great performance IMO. Also thank you to my wife, Ann Marie, for providing the "Angel" vocals. I provided additional bass vocals underneath the chorus and 2nd verse.....which luckily for you the listeners isn't too loud. LOL"

"Real Life official video for the Australian release of Send Me An Angel '89. The US version was a reworking of the 1983 video where they edited out original keyboardist Richard Zatorski. Real Life had released Send Me An Angel '88 before they remixed and re-released it again in 1989. This version reached No.51 on the Australian Top 100 chart but got as high as No.24 in Melbourne."
Quick Jam: IO Instruments Eurorack Modules
Perfect Circuit
"IO Instruments has some interesting eurorack modules out and some more on the way. We put together this small system with a few of their modules including the Himalia which is a sound source with 5 generators including filtered analog noise, digital noise, a square wave oscillator, sampler with lots of built in drum sounds and a chord generator. IO also has basic modules like the Themisto VCO, Euporie VCF, Pashiphae ring mod, Sinope VCA and Sponde mixer that add clever and useful extra features. All of the IO modules also have colorful knobs and a halftone paint job that makes them look great together.
We added in a Noise Engineering BIA for the kick, Intellijel Quadrax for envelopes and a Malekko Quad VCA for mixing and extra VCAs. Everything is sequenced with the Arturia Keystep Pro.

"Price/Availability: MSRP: US$345, In stock, shipping August 7, 2020
Los Angeles, California: Noise Engineering announces the release of Desmodus Versio, a 10hp stereo in/stereo out synthetic-tail generator reverb with a generous helping of attitude. Seven CV-controlled parameters and three reverb modes make creating wild reverberant spaces a joy. Pre-orders open July 31. Desmodus Versio ships August 7, 2020.
Desmodus Versio is Noise Engineering’s take on reverb. It features true stereo in and out, seven CV-controlled parameters, and three reverb modes. The parameters are designed with performance and immediacy in mind. Morph between almost infinite reverby sounds with the twist of a few knobs; three reverb modes offer more texture and space options with clean, distorted, and pitch-shifting shimmer settings. Desmodus Versio’s feedback control creates regenerations that never die. Turn up the control and the reverb ducks when it receives signals at its input, useful for creating sidechain ducking and atmospheres for percussion. Hit the FSU button to “freeze stuff” up. No input? No problem. Hit FSU to inject a tiny bit of noise to stimulate the tank and engage the reverb. Whether you make hard-hitting techno, ambient, industrial, sound design, or something else completely, Desmodus Versio has a place in your rack.
Desmodus Versio isn’t just a reverb, though: it’s a DSP platform. Its firmware can be changed via USB, so it can be transformed into a completely different effect with new firmwares coming late 2020. Are you programming savvy? Open-source support will be released later this year.
And what’s better than buying a new module? Supporting a great cause at the same time! A portion of proceeds from every Desmodus Versio sold goes to Bat Conservation International. Find out why bats are not only cool but also an important part of our ecosystem at Bat Conservation International’s website, batcon.org."
