ContinuuCon :: 2016

Published on Jun 18, 2016 ContinuuCon

This is a playlist of ContinuuCon 2016 videos starting with the teaser video. The full playlist follows the description below. Note Tony Rolando of Make Noise's video went up previously here. You can skip any video using the video controls at the bottom of the player.

"ContinuuCon, the First Continuum Fingerboard Conference took place June 9–11, 2016, at the Altamont Theatre in Asheville, NC.

Performers, sound designers, composers and electronic music enthusiasts who attended ContinuuCon explored this uniquely expressive instrument through concerts, workshops, lectures and more. Dr. Lippold Haken, inventor of the Continuum, and Edmund Eagan, developer of the Continuum’s synthesis engine EaganMatrix, were among those sharing their knowledge and musical talents.

With sponsors including the Bob Moog Foundation and modular synthesizer manufacturer Make Noise, the event opened with a reception at the Make Noise factory and included an evening concert, and a dinner (with multiple jam sessions) at Streamside.

Koushion MIDI Step Sequencer - NEW FEATURES

Published on Jun 2, 2013

"Koushion was just updated, adding a host of new features that make it an even more powerful music composition and production tool. It now has eight independent layers, each with its own MIDI Channel, Scale, Octave, Clock Divider and more. Each layer can have a different number of scenes (up to eight), making long, evolving patterns possible.

It works great with external hardware synths and softsynths, as well as other iPad music apps."

Ben Hovey :: Sally Sparks :: Chris Stack :: Improvisation 12/13/16

Published on Jan 28, 2017 experimentalsynth

"This is the first time Ben played with Sally and me and things just seemed to gel right away. Since I was mostly handling sequencing and background textures, I was able to shoot a bit of video and stills while we were playing. Instruments and tools used include: trumpet, Haken Continuum, (virtual) piano and Rhodes, Ableton, DSI Pro 2, Moog Voyager, Make Noise Shared System, Eventide H9, Borderlands, Animoog and probably a few other things that I've forgotten or was not aware of. I particularly enjoy how Sally's brassy Continuum timbres intertwine with and compliment Ben's trumpet work. And when you hear trumpet and Rhodes happening at the same time, it's because Ben was playing them at the same time. No overdubs here. All recorded live. An incredibly enjoyable musical experience that I hope we can soon repeat. - Chris Stack"

Logos presents: The PsybOrg

Published on Oct 27, 2013

www.logosmusic.net

"The PsybOrg is a steampunk 'pipe organ' and interdimensional traveling machine, which incorporates analog synthesizers, digital controllers, Theremin, and sound reactive light displays in an elegant walnut housing that blends future and past.

It was designed by Logos and crafted by a team of builders, programmers, mad scientists, and solder monkeys. Luthier John Mulholland built the wooden housing with help from Phil Hubert, and multimedia artist Joel Horne designed the PsybOrg's visual components."

"[the track] uses one of my favorite production techniques.

I have a Little Phatty with the CV Out Modification. Here I synced its arpeggiator to a master MIDI clock from a Yamaha MO8 (MO8 run through MF-101s on each stereo channel). I connected the Pitch Out CV from the Phatty to the Filter Cutoff In CV on a Voyager, dialed up a wet, resonant patch and had a lot of fun.

The rest is Alesis Micron through MF-101, Korg MicroX through MF-101 and Kurzweil K2000 through a MIDI Murf."

Modular For The Masses: The Moog Little Phatty Control Voltage Output Modification

Official Press Release:
"ASHEVILLE, N.C. (September 15, 2009) Moog’s ubiquitous Little Phatty synthesizer just got even more powerful. With the new Control Voltage Output Modification, a Little Phatty (Stage II, Stage or Tribute Edition) synthesizer opens the door to a new world of expression and sound design. This exciting modification gives musicians the power to control Moogerfooger Effects Processors and other analog gear with control voltages generated by the Little Phatty. The list of possible applications is as endless as a player’s imagination.

The Little Phatty CV Output Modification adds five 1/4" analog CV outputs to the right side panel:

* Gate
* Pitch
* Volume Envelope
* Filter Envelope
* Mod Bus

'Use MIDI Clock Sync to synchronize the Little Phatty’s arpeggiator to a drum track, and the Pitch CV output becomes an incredible production tool.” said Chris Stack, Moog Music Marketing Manager. “You can route it to a wide variety of Moogerfooger parameters to create a universe of tempo-synced analog effects, and that’s just the tip of the iceberg.'

The Little Phatty Control Voltage Output Modification is available for $199.00, as a factory upgrade.
