4ms Spherical Wavetable Details & Pics

You can find demos of the 4ms Spherical Wavetable eurorack module in the archives here.

Priced at $599.00

"The Spherical Wavetable Navigator (SWN) is a six-channel synthesizer that makes it easy to create slowly morphing drones, polyphonic melodies, evolving sequences, and rich textures. The SWN features six wavetable oscillators with independent pitch, level, and waveform controls. Six LFOs (Low Frequency Oscillators) can be used as modulation sources and/or envelopes, making it easy to add dynamic motion to your patch. Each channel is a full voice and can be “played” using the top row of buttons, the internal LFOs, or note-change detection on the 1V/oct jacks. The SWN ships with 12 three-dimensional (spherical) wavetables and an easy interface which allows you to record and edit custom wavetables from live audio. Open-source software for Mac, Windows, and Linux called SphereEdit can be freely downloaded and allows you computer to create, edit, and convert .wav files into Spherical wavetables to transfer into the SWN with an audio cable.

Six VCOs (Voltage Controlled Oscillators), each with independent 1V/oct pitch CV and waveform selection.

Twelve spherical wavetables, plus space for up 108 user-created wavetables.

Quickly record, apply effects, and save your own custom wavetables from live audio (or by using free SphereEdit software on a computer).

Six LFOs/envelopes, each with its own output jack and controls for speed, amplitude, phase, and shape.

4ms Spherical Wavetable Navigator (SWN) - Creating Your Own Wavetables

Published on Apr 29, 2019 4mspedals

"Learn how to create your own wavetables from an audio source on the Spherical Wavetable Navigator. In this video we create a new Sphere using a voice sample, add effects, and save it.

For advanced features such as Waveform Spread, Shift, and Stretch, applying effects to spherical dimensions, see the User Manual.

Playlist for the above:

1. Xaoc Devices Odessa, Batumi, Belgrad
This video showcases a selection of Xaoc Devices modules. We have the Odessa additive oscillator as the only sound sound source with it's different outputs being individually processed through the Endorphines Milky Way, Xaoc Belgrad and the Intellijel Multi FX 1U. The sequence is generated by the Tirana II and one channel of the Batumi being mixed and fed into an Intellijel Duatt to Intellijel Scales for Quantization. The remaining channels of the Batumi add some subtle modulations here and there. The Fundamental output of the Odessa is running through a seperate channel with it's own envelope control to add more variation to the sequence.

Modules Used
Xaoc Devices : Odessa, Batumi, Belgrad, Tirana II, Tallin
Intellijel : Dual ADSR, Scales, Duatt 1U, Muti-FX 1U
Mutable Instruments : Tides, Kinks, Links
Steady State Fate : Muton
Endorphin.es : Milky Way

2. 4MS Spherical Wavetable Navigator with 4MS Dual Looping Delay
In this video we have a selection of 4MS modules; the Spherical Wavetable Navigator (SWN) running into the Dual Looping Delay and finally into the Listen 4. The Spherical Wavetable Navigator is a really deep and interesting sound source. You have full control over 6 internal wavetable oscillators that each have a 1V/oct input. Each of the 6 can be independently shaped and sculpted in real time for ultimate improvisation. The outputs of the SWN are being fed into the Dual Looping Delay to keep things rolling nicely. The dual, syncopated melodic sequence is provided by the Korg SQ1.

3. Xaoc, ALM, Instruo, Intellijel, Mutable Instruments Dub
Here we have a dark, slow dubbed out jam using the Mutable Instruments Tides being filtered by the Instruo I-o47 to create a polyphonic chord pattern. The Xaoc Devices Odessa, filtered by Belgrad, adds an eerie evolving atmosphere over the top.
The sequence is derived from the Xaoc Devices Tirana II and Batumi mixed in the Mutable Links middle section with the "min" output being fed into an Intellijel Duatt then Scales for quantizing. The Duatt is essential here for keeping the sequence CV within a specific range so we don't have a wide swing in of voltages being fed into the quantizer.
The drums are all from the ALM Squid Salmple being sequenced by the Intellijel Steppy. The Squid is running into the Endorphines Squark Dirty to Me filter to give a little more character. FX on other parts of the patch are from Endorphines Milky Way and Intellijel Multi FX 1U.

4ms Spherical Wavetable Navigator - Patch

Published on Dec 17, 2019 Richard Devine

"Pure bliss this morning creating swarming harmonic crystal swells with the Spherical Wavetable Navigator. Running the self-modulation mode on the SWN to modulate the inner timbre/spread parameters and the slow sequencing of the pitches. The SWN was externally clocked using a 4ms QCD, then from there the clock was multiplied out to two Qu-bit Octone modules that played at a 32nd pulse rate-controlling one mutable instruments Braids, and a 2hp plucked VCO. The mix out of the Spherical Wavetable Navigator was sent into a Makenoise Qpass, then into the 4ms DLD and Topographic Delay modules for the reversing cascading delay effects."

4 Jams ft. the 4ms Spherical Wavetable Navigator into the Hologram Microcosm

Red Means Recording

Fun to watch the Noodlebox Serendipity Sequencer by Sixty Four Pixesl on the bottom left. Check out Red Means Recording's intro video for it here.

"It had been a while since I messed with the medium rack, and I was itching to push the 4ms Spherical Wavetable Navigator into some uncharted territory. I recorded a bunch of custom wavetables into it from Plaits and the TS-L and then set up the Noodlebox to bridge the clock gap between the rack and the Microcosm. Here are 4 jams showing off some different facets of this setup.

00:00 - Jam 1 (breakbeat)
10:18 - Jam 2 (chemical beats)
18:28 - Jam 3 (tech-house)
28:28 - Jam 4 (spooky downtempo)"

4MS SWN (Spherical Wavetable Navigator) Eurorack Six Voice Oscillator

Published on May 24, 2019 Perfect Circuit

"The 4MS SWN (Spherical Wavetable Navigator) is a eurorack module with six wavetable oscillators that can produce thick drones as well as chords. The SWN gets its name from the fact that its wavetables are held within a three dimensional sphere shaped space that can be morphed through and navigated. The SWN has the ability to load in or record wavetables, the oscillator frequencies can be quantized and it can store and load presets.

In this video we used Malekko's Varigate 4+ for sequencing, the TINRS Wobbler & Edgecutter for modulation as well as an Intellijel Planar 2. We also used a Doepfer A-105 SSM VCF and GRP VCA.

Spherical Wavetable Navigator (SWN) - SphereEdit

Published on May 7, 2019 4ms Company

"SphereEdit is software for Mac, Windows, and Linux for creating, editing, and exporting wavetables to be used with the Spherical Wavetable Navigator (SWN) Eurorack module from 4ms Company. The SWN can store up to 108 user-created Spherical Wavetables, and SphereEdit is a powerful tool for designing Spheres and loading them into the SWN (scope shots are from a modified Vectrex).

SphereEdit is fork of the Synthesis Technology WaveEdit project developed by Andrew Belt. Both SphereEdit and WaveEdit are open-source under the GNU GPLv3 license.
