AudioPilz Built ReBirth FOR REAL and This Happened (Bad Gear)

video upload by AudioPilz

"Welcome to another non - Bad Gear episode. I built ReBirth for real and this happened. Propellerhead Rebirth RB-338, the iconic 90s music production software and virtual groovebox was my first electronic musical instrument. Since then I had the dream of reconstructing the classic setup consisting of a Roland TR-808, a Roland TR-909, two Roland TB-303 and specific set of effects. Can we recreate the software workflow, are the famous vintage instruments as great as anybody is telling you and is all this worth the hassle?

Demo ONE - Deep Techno & Electronica - Circuit Rhythm Sample Pack by A Force Truly Evil

video upload by Isotonik Studios

"Deep Techno & Electronica is a truly dark, deep and introspective musical force, full of structure and style. Robotic, mechanical and soulful, always looking to the future.

The sound of Deep Techno & Electronica saturated with tape delays, heavy reverbs, ice cold atmospheres, and a strong Dub Techno influence.

DEEP TECHNO & ELECTRONICA CONTENT

64 drum and percussion sounds that cover the territory you'd expect, deep kicks and techy snare drums, classic analog drum machine sounds, 909 and 808 clones, plus a selection of electronic and acoustic percussion.

A selection of 32 synth waveforms

to turn Circuit Rhythm into a synthesiser. With shaping tools like filters, envelope slope and distortion we can obtain multiple variations of each wave. Raw sonic material like basic sawtooth, sine waves and pulses, sub basses, hard-edged digital sounds, along with more complex waveforms like atmospheres, pads, textures and synth chords.

In short, a well balanced sonic arsenal for anyone working in any genre of Techno or electronic music territory.

8 One shot bass samples.

16 One shot Dub chords.

8 Loop samples: Four drum loops and four synth loops. All can be adjusted for pitch and tempo using the slice function. Loops can be sliced and diced to use individual notes or isolated drum hits, or to have multiple instruments in a single track.

32 high quality sessions/project covering from the organic and precise patterns of Deep Techno to the darkest and most atmospheric Dub, passing through the roots and impulses of Detroit to end up in evolutionary and minimalist electronica.

Some sessions include several scenes.

Custom grid effects template for dynamic pattern variations.

All samples except loops are in the key of C.

Wav files are provided so that you can use the samples with your favourite DAW.

Simmons SDS-1 EPROM Digital/Analog Drum Synth & Huge EPROM Library (60 EPROMs) SN 005758

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.

via this auction

According to the listing, this is the one featured in these videos.

"Includes 60 SDS Drum EPROMs, for use with Simmons SDS-1, SDS-7, SDS-9 drum synths.

Up for auction is a white vintage Simmons SDS-1 EPROM-based electronic drum pad in working condition, including 60 different Simmons EPROMs which are also compatible with Simmons SDS-7, and SDS-9 drum synths.

The EPROMs included with this auction are reproductions of original Simmons EPROM chips, almost all of the chips are original Simmons sounds, and is rare to see such an expansive library of Simmons EPROM chips being offered on eBay. I have posted recordings of all of the chips in this auction being performed by the SDS-1 in the link below.

The Simmons SDS-1 is a single voice drum synth that uses 8k or 16k EPROMs to play back 8-bit drum sounds and effects. The drum synth can be triggered by hitting the drum pad or via an external trigger input. There is a modulation section on the drum synth that allows you to set the pitch and pitch bend direction, then a separate runtime generator allows you to dial in a random pitch generator that can range from subtle to extreme. Please check out my link below to some MP3s I made with the SDS1 drum synth as well as YouTube videos (the SDS-1 in the YouTube video is the same one being auctioned here).

The Simmons SDS EPROM drum pad is confirmed 100% working, ZIF, LED, external trigger, output, and knobs are all functioning properly. All 60 drum sound EPROMs included with this auction have been tested/verified and are also confirmed working. Battery functionality has not been tested, as the battery cover is missing and is often missing on these vintage drum synths.

9090 Drum Synthesizer TR-909 voice clone

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.

via this auction

"This is a one of a kind build of the well known TR-909 voice boards and controls and outputs clone, information is available online for the 9090 projects.
This unit was built in Russia and has no problems or issues, I’m regretfully selling and will miss it.

Beautiful metal case, 10”x10”x 4” tall (plus knob height).
Individual audio outputs allow much better control and mixing over every drum tone.
Hear this unit on many of my YouTube videos as RhythmDial techno.
Features MIDI in and thru, plus DINSync out as well.

Euro 240v internal power, also includes a wall-plug-end converter to use in US 120v.

Light weight and well built, this machine is a brilliant way to get 909 drums with some extra tricks in the mix."

Roland TR-909 - Fantastic Condition w/ Professionally Modified Kick and Hi-Hats

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.

Published on Sep 20, 2017 NolaNola Nolita

via this auction

"As you can tell, this is a very specialized version of this classic drum machine. This 909 contains modifications (thanks to Colin Fraser) to the kick as well as the high-hats, to give you far more flexibility that what is traditionally offered by a typical 909. The mods to the kick are the group of three rotary controls above low/mid Tom controls. As you can see, the same rotary knobs that were on the original were used on the mods. Mods to kick add three new controls:

- Pitch: controls the frequency of the bass drum oscillator
- Drive: allows waveform adjustment from normal to square, for hard clipped sounds
- Tune Depth: varies the amount of the initial pitch sweep (decay is set by TUNE control)

These mods literally give the 909 the ability to produce any kind of kick imaginable, from overdriven, to deep, pulsating kicks. I've posted 5 minutes worth of nothing but these modified kicks on Youtube - this is just the tip of the iceberg. You could literally tinker with variations to the kicks for days.

https://youtu.be/SqpnQhg_U14

The hi-hats mod gives a tune control for the hi-hats that functions the same way as the tune controls for the crash and ride cymbals. This adds a lot of depth and flexibility. Youtube video with sounds of the Hi-Hat mods can be found here:

More details on the mods can be found here"

Tiptop Audio BD909 Demo Video and Review by Various Vicarious

TTA_BD_909
Published on Jan 8, 2013 buriedintime·37 videos

"just got the tiptop audio BD-909 a few hours ago. thought i'd check out how it sounds.

here's a link to tiptop's site

http://tiptopaudio.com/

here's a higher quality soundcloud link to the audio in the youtube clip (more oomph)

nothing fancy w/this patch here. simple pattern from Intellijel uStep and a bit of modulation from a Wiard/Malekko envelator and i hit the accent now and then w/a different gate from a clock divider. in this case the doepfer A-160

there is no EQ or compression. it goes from the module's output to a jackie 1640 to a lynx aurora to logic. nothing was done in the box either. what you hear is from the module.

does it sound like a 909 BD? i don't know.. i don't really care.. i think it sounds good.. and if you are into 909 i'd bet it's pretty close. i've used 909s before and it's good enough to do that kind of thing (to my ears) and for all i know it's dead on.. but i haven't used a 909 in a while and as i said. i don't care.

the parameter ranges are pretty good. enough to get good variation and not get all squirrely or turn into a bass synth. it responds well to modulation and the overload is nice.

for more in depth verbage check my tumblr

and here's link to tiptop's site where you can find out more about their awesome modules

Filter House Jam #3

Published on Oct 19, 2012 by snolan1990

"This isn't a masterpiece or anything but I was getting a bit bored of spending days endlessly tweaking parts of synth driven tracks so I thought I would have a go at thrashing out a Disco edit over a few hours for fun. I didn't dig deep for this sample and it's a big loop so I'll give a pat on the back to the first person who names it in the comments section (excluding YouTube member BlizardOfTheCoast who I know will know it immediately but who can have a pat on the back anyway).

For those interested in the tech side this is just TR-909 and Akai S900 making the sounds, with the Akai ASQ10 sequencing the samples and S900 drums and the internal sequencer of the TR-909 sequencing its own sounds. The Akai MFC42 is filtering and phasering the loop (with some envelope tricks clocked to the 909) and the final mix is going through a bit of heavy Alesis 3630 compression."

Jordan Passmore Techno Demo - TR-808, MPC-60, SC-880

YouTube Published on Aug 28, 2012 by Jordan Passmore

"Jordan Passmore demo of the Roland TR-808, Akai MPC-60 and Roland SC-880. SC-880 is playing the rave patches, MPC-60 is loaded full of TR-909 samples and is also sequencing 909/synth, TR-808 is doing 808. All held together by a Garfield Nano Doc Sync/Clock adapter. All sounds are mixed live on an old Studiomaster mixing board; from there they pass through an Electra EQ, then finally into my Native Instruments Kore Audio Interface. The SCC-80 has an analog delay attached to it, which when I'm out of the shot, I'm usually messing with. I also have a Behringer Virtualizer Pro Reverb on an effects send (a bit of the 909 and SC-880 are send to this).

The MPC-60 loaded with 909 samples is pretty hard to beat for completely cutting through a mix. I personally love the 808 so of course I threw that on top as well. The SC-880 is very interesting and totally useful (multitimbral and full of many very usable effects). I found these patches on it and decided to do a short demo from there."

A 909 kick drum clone you can build! (BETA)

YouTube Published on Aug 24, 2012 by hexinverterDOTnet

"This is a clone of the 909 kick / bass drum that I have been working on. It is able to be built with common parts, or with the rare 2SC/2SA transistors originally used in the design (room for both is on the circuit board)

APOLOGIES for the poor audio. My speaker cones are "fluffing" and my cell phone camera's mic REALLY accented that sound. The kick itself is nice and clean sounding, of course. I will be sharing some directly recorded sound samples soon!

I have added trigger input conditioners and some basic things to make it play nice in an analog modular synthesizer system. None of the original voicing circuitry has been altered.

I will have circuit boards available in my webstore soon: http://www.hexinverter.net

A build guide and modification guide will accompany the project.

Follow the Muffwigglers thread for more info, here!:

http://www.muffwiggler.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=65165"

Update:

909 Kick Clone Noise Generator Comparison

Published on Aug 24, 2012 by hexinverterDOTnet

"Here I demonstrate the sonic difference between a microcontroller-based white noise generator, and the CMOS based noise generator designed by Roland for the TR-909 analog drum machine.

I hope the difference is clear in the video...apologies for the poor quality. I will do some sound samples later as well.

I am working on a do it yourself 909 kick / bass drum clone you can buy a PCB for and build yourself.

PCBs will be in stock at: http://www.hexinverter.net in a few weeks!"
