2016 Synth-Fest Coming to Nantes / Frankreich with Yves Usson, Deep Forest and More

"Die französische Organisation Patch Work Music (www.asso-pwm.fr) organisiert zu Ostern 2016 das dritte Synthesizer Festival "SYNTH-FEST"

Es gibt wieder Gelegenheit viele Gerätschaften anzutesten oder vorgeführt zu bekommen (z.B. auch die Laser Harp).

Yves Usson, der Erfinder des MiniBrute und MicroBrute wird genauso auf dem Festval erwartet, wie Michel Geiss, Frédéric Rousseau, die bekannt sind als Musiker und Techniker für Jean-Michel Jarre/Vangelis.

Zudem gibt es CDs zu kaufen, eine Tombola und die Möglichkeit mit Musikern sich auszutauschen.
Das Synth-Fest ist offen für jeden, der sich für Vintage Geräte und neue Synthesizer interessiert.
Vorführungen von Vintage Keyboards und auch ganz neuer Technologie werden an allen drei Tagen auf der Bühne präsentiert.

Deep Forest gibt ein Konzert am Samstag.

"This is a small improvised demo with the TipTop Z-DSP new cartridges by Christophe Duquesne featuring Eric Mouquet (Deep Forest)

It is a 3 takes improvisation and knob tweaking :
- first take with a Buchla going 100% trhough the Physical Modeling cartridge (waveguides and other physical models)
- second take with a Tempest going 100% through the Grain de Folie cartridge (granular effect)
- third track adds a few additional synth with an OB-Mx

A bit of editing and that's all (no additional effects)

"Another Waldorf Wave video,This impro is part of the work in progress for next Deep Forest album (available end 2014). This time I'm using three layers splitted on the keyboard, first one is scanning a custom wavetable in seq to simulate a kind of Pygmy chant, second one is doing a filter sweep in seq and gives an harmo feel. The last one features several 'solo' sounds, My playing is an humble and modeste tribute to my master Mr Joe Zawinul. Hope you enjoy this 'Elephant crying sound' at the end of the Impro. "Not so much Waldorf Wave's videos, so here is a song (in progress) using three layers with different filter setting. Seq are generated by the LFO 3 use in Chopper mode. Some parameters are mapped on the main performance faders, so I can control all layers at the same time."

This summer I spent some time upgrading my springsound physical modeling algorithm adding a nice set of features.
I did a Max/MSP test environment and this makes it possible to demo it, even before embeding it in an app or any other environnement.

Eric Mouquet from Deep Forest was very kind to do a small demo using it.

In this demo only the pad (Wave) and solo (Voyager) are not produced by SpringSound: every other sounds, noises, strings, bows, scratchs, drums, etc. are from the new algorithm.

Korg DS-10 Within a Deep Forest

"I was playing the game Within a Deep Forest by Nifflas, and got inspired by its wonderfull music. That made me decide to make another Korg DS-10 song :)

This time, I didn't record the song and then show a bit info about it. Instead, I made pictures of the important screens and embedded them in the movie during the playing. You won't hear the individual sounds, but you will see their settings.

I also used my new tripod that I got for christmas, which in this case produces a very good quality video. :D

"Here are a couple of new sounds I designed for the upcoming next album (2017). Lot of people asked me about the OBMX, it's a fantastic pure analog synthesizer designed by Don Buchla. This machine has 8 voices (will grow to 12 voices), a 24db low pass filter type (Moog) and a 12db Oberheim type filter ( low, band, hipass). 4 multistage env (loopable), 3 lfo's, and a very important matrix modulation. All the magic is in the matrix...My favorite Oberheim so far... ( yes I know what people said... I know about OBX, OBXa, OB8, Matrix 12...) but this one remain my favorite (at least for my music).
