Vintage Analog Hohner Bass Synth

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.

via this auction

"Here is one of the first bass synthesizer ever made, dating from the 60s. Almost identical to the more widely know Basset, the Bass 1 is a basic but very effective little bass synth. You get a choice between a Sine and Sawtooth sound and a simple variable decay enveloppe ("Perc").

Synth was serviced: all electrolytic capacitors were replaced and a more convenient jack socket was fitted. It is in perfectly working condition. Runs either on 220/240v or 110/130v."

14HP Multiple Random CV Generator

RA INFLUENCER provides a general source of useful CV tools and musical unpredictability. The module is divided into five sections, each of which performs a unique function.

The TOP SECTION is the VC INTERNAL CLOCK and TRIANGLE LFO. The rate of the clock and LFO can be controlled by the RATE knob or CV. The clock signal is normalised to the trigger input of the FALL section. The TRIANGLE wave at the WAVE socket is also routed to the WAVE/RNDM SWITCH of the FALL section. When the switch is in the upper position and the attenuator is turned to the left, the
wave will affect the FALL length. In the lower position, the FALL CV is slowly randomised.

The SECOND SECTION is a FALL ENVELOPE GENERATOR. It can be triggered internally or externally and its fall time can be controlled by the FALL TIME knob or by CV. An inverted version of the fall output is also available.

The THIRD SECTION is the SAMPLE & HOLD section. In one mode, it can sample and store a voltage from the FALL CV socket and output it at the SP OUT socket when the gate at GATE is high (Sample & Hold). In another mode, it can pass through the incoming voltage when GATE is high. It then samples and stores the last voltage applied when GATE is low (Sample & Track). The modes are selected by the MODE switch. The STEPPED potentiometer controls the level of the incoming CV signal. Internally the CLOCK is normalised to the GATE input. The CV input can be fed b an external signal, an internal SMOOTH RANDOM CV or b internal NOISE. Please note that this section may produce noise bursts in Sample & Track mode.

The FOURTH SECTION is an AND / OR COMPARATOR that compares two mixable inputs and outputs the MAXIMUM CV and MINIMUM CV of both. It also generates a GATE at B-GATE if IN B is greater than IN A. Note that MIN LED barley flashes with low CV levels. The LAST SECTION is a DUAL SMOOTH RANDOM CV GENERATOR. It provides a constantly changing CV at SMOOTH I and SMOOTH II, slowly meandering in about 60 second cycles. The SMOOTH CV input will affect the SMOOTH outputs in unpredictable ways, sometimes not at all. Internallv there is another SMOOTH RANDOM GENERATOR which is normalised to the RNDM switch position of the FALL section, the CLOCK CV and the SOURCE switch of the SAMPLE & HOLD section. Like the others, this SMOOTH GENERATOR may or mav not be influenced bv the INFLUENCE input.

NOISE OUT allows access to the internal NOISE GENERATOR You could also use the module as an OSCILLATOR

INFLUENCER is vour CV powerhouse that offers a wide range of MODULATION SOURCES and an extended source of uncertaintv.

SONICWARE Introduces the LIVEN Lofi-12

video upload by SONICWARE

SONICWARE Liven Lofi-12 - How to Make Lofi Music

video upload by ChrisLody

"So here it is, the new SONICWARE Liven Lofi-12 sampler, and it's pretty damn good.

The Lofi-12 allows 12khz and 24khz sampling frequencies with 128 sample slots. The samples are either 2 or 4 seconds long depending on the chosen frequency. Audio can be recorded directly into the internal memory via the Line In socket, after which sampled sounds are immediately playable across the keys chromatically. Sample playback is not interpolated (not smoothed out) so they have a gritty quality rather than being dulled by the low sampling rate.

A lot of features have been brought over from the Liven XFM including it's sequencer, voice modes, parameter locks etc, but this time the maximum polyphony is 10 rather than 6. Plus each track has it's own effects section that can be modulated by the parameter locks and the reverbs found in the Liven 8Bits Warps are here in a dedicated master reverb section with the addition of Tape and Vinyl effects.

There is a deep editing overlay like the XFM which enables samples to be trimmed, looped and reversed. It's possible to record in instruments and waveform and then loop sections to make the sound loop cleanly, a slight cross-fade is used to accomplish this.

The same Sound Locking function found on the XFM is present too so it's possible to modulate the sample selection in each track, so having a track play a kick and then a snare is entirely possible.

All in all it's a very well rounded little affordable sampler that can record directly into it's memories and can be used like a groove box. Pretty awesome I think.

Moog MiniMoog Type D (USA/1974) s/n 3901

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.

via this auction

"This Moog MiniMoog Type D is being marketed by Klassic Keys GB, E. Midlands, England.

As used by countless artists since the early-1970s, this classic analogue synthesizer features three oscillators and the iconic Moog Ladder filter. The sound is sheer audio chocolate... but we all know this!

This particular unit has a low serial number 3901, and was made in January 1974. It is one of the very first hand-made in Buffalo, New York. As you can see from the daylight photographs, it is in remarkable condition. It is totally original, except the fixed mains cord has been replaced by a standard IEC/kettle socket (currently switched to 220Vac). There are a few "rises" in the panel (see pix), and the keys are not perfectly regulated/in-line, plus a few eeny scuffs, if you really look....All controls, switches, wheels, keys all work 100%. Tuning & scaling will be tweaked after a visit to our pro tech dude in a few days. Oh, yes, it sounds 'the business'!!!"

DF Audio MINIBAY - A desktop audio patchbay

video upload by Espen Kraft

"If you're a desktop artist looking for a way of hooking up your mixer, effects, synths and modules for fast and flexible turnaround you should check out this desktop audio patchbay called the MINIBAY.

Check out the MINIBAY here: https://www.dfaudio.com.au/

In the case of normalling/half-normalling as I mention in the video, I'd like to clarify that the DIP-switches makes it possible to individually normal the connections between the patch points in row A and row B. Half-normalling is not possible.

Support this channel on Patreon:
https://www.patreon.com/espenkraft"

MINIBAY is a compact 40-point audio patch bay, designed to integrate neatly into a studio desktop space. It utilises 1/4” stereo sockets to connect with external gear and 1/8” mono (Eurorack) sockets for routing signals. There are also two built-in passive mixers with dedicated patch-points located on the main panel.

Dimensions: 234 mm x 140 mm x 40 mm (not including sockets and feet)

Intuitive
While the ins and outs can be configured to suit your needs, the general idea is to have instruments on Row A, mixer channels on Row B, and effects hooked into the FX rows.

Reach up to the effects; reach down to the mixer.

Convenient
MINIBAY can be neatly positioned next to a mixer (or just about anywhere) for quick and easy access and reference while working.

Patch-points are spaced to allow for comfortable grip and leverage when handling cables (even for fat fingers :)

Rows A and B
For Rows A and B, each 1/4" socket on the back panel is wired to two adjacent 1/8" sockets on the main panel. 20220503_105113.jpg

FX Rows
Each 1/4" FX socket on the back panel is wired to the two corresponding 1/8" FX sockets on the main panel. One insert cable can therefore be used to connect to the input and output on an effects unit (or two cables for a stereo unit).

Farfisa Soundmaker w/ Music Sheet Stand

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.

via this auction

"Here are some facts about the synth:
The Soundmaker has 61 keys on its keyboard and therefore covers five complete octaves including C of the sixth octave. You can choose between polyphonic and monophonic registers. A combination of these is also possible - the keyboard can be "split" in the middle.

Polyphonic chords can be played with the right hand and the melody with the left hand. The Soundmaker has five poly registers (piano, harpsichord, honky-tonk piano, brass and brass with vibrato), an external one for Time-typical string ensemble, which is also polyphonic, and a total of twelve monophonic sounds (tuba, trombone, trumpet, saxophone, clarinet, oboe, flute, piccolo, accordion, electric bass and electric guitar).

All registers can be easily changed and adjusted with the synthesizer elements on the front of the instrument. In addition, the instrument has a mode in which no preset is activated and the musician can create, save and retrieve his own sound. The synthesizer has two 6.35mm jacks, one each for the polyphonic and monophonic section, as well as a headphone output and an input socket. External noise sources could be integrated into the soundmaker's technology."

Unfortunately this one needs work. Also from the listing: "The synthesizer can be switched on and the various buttons also react, but unfortunately I can't get any sound out."

Vu Perc Relay

VU Perc Relay

Percussion with a VU meter and a relay for eurorack

https://gieskes.nl/eurorack/?file=vu-perc-relay

via the user manual

"VU-PERC-RELAY MANUAL (MAY 2022)

_ABOUT:
The vu-perc-relay is a drum sound module for eurorack that uses a vu meter to hit something (in this case a copper strip and a LED leg) that is connected to a piezo element.
And a relay is triggered and amplified via another piezo element.

_IMPORTANT:
Stripped tubing from a electrical wire is put over the tip of the vu meters hitter, this prevents the vu meter from making direct contact with the spring.
If the hitter makes direct contact with the spinge there will be a large click, because its sort of short circuiting a bit.
So make sure the hitter is hitting the spring in the correct position.

_VU METER CENTERING:
There is a trimmer potmeter that you can use to set the center position for the vu meter,
the vu meter moves left and right to hit the different metal parts.

_CROSS FADE TRIMMER
There is a small trimmer on the board that holds the relay and the vu meter, this can be used to croos fade between the vu meter and the relay,
it does not really cross fade the volume that much, it will just make one less dominant in how sharp it sounds.

Davoli Davolisint

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.

via this auction

You can find a demo of one posted here.

"Dent on the top and some external wear as shown in photos. Very rare and interesting synth. Sorry to let it go but I got bills yo

The Davolisint is a 2 VCO monophonic analog synthesizer with a 3-octave, 37-note (C-C) keyboard, with the bottom octave, colored dark grey, doubling as controller keys. It features a coarse tune slider effecting both oscillators and a fine tune slider for Oscillator 2. Both Oscillators are also controlled by 7 octave switches (32', 16', 8', 4', 2', 1', 1/2') which are very similar to an organ, both in look and function. Any or all switches can be engaged simultaneously. LFO is fixed at a triangle/sine wave and has sliders for frequency and depth. Pitch bend is controlled by a lever labeled "extend". What's strange about this synth is that there is no control over the VCF or the envelope generator, however, there is portamento. The switches can also be accessed by the grey-colored lower octave of the keyboard. Every function is controlled by a different key.

Curiously, there is a 5-pin socket for a pedal on the back. It is unknown what this is for. Also interesting to note, it seems to have been marketed, at least in part, by MXR, whose label is badged on the top."

Roland MC-202 Micro Composer Analog Synthesizer with Kenton Socket Mod

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.

via this auction

"Fabulous analogue sequencer and synthesizer. For me its main strength is as a desktop SH101..LFO not quite as featured and no noise but it’s effectively a SH101 with a MC4 2 channel sequencer added! This has the added Kenton MOD which adds CV & gate (& filter) that bypasses the internal sequencer. Why is this important seeing as the MC202 already has some CV/gate sockets?? Well, the factory CV/Gate sockets are great for connecting to other synths in order to control them with the MC202 Sequencer. However, if you want to use the MC202 synth with an external sequencer it doesn’t; work so well and it is a little laggy as everything has to go via the MC202 in built sequencer brain which is probably 1kb! Kenton made this mod specifically so you can controller the MC202 synth engine from an external source. I used it with a SQ1 and Analogue Solutions Mega City step sequencer - much easier than the in built one!!!! Having said that the inbuilt sequencer is powerful once you get your head around it - 2 channels of CV/gate out and clock out and DIN sync out."

New Doepfer Modules Coming to SUPERBOOTH

Avialable in black and silver.

Module A-121s is a dual multimode filter which can be used for stereo applications as well as for parallel or serial organized dual mono filters. The core is a 12dB multimode filter identical to the modules A-121-2 and A-121-3. The selection of the filter type is continuously from lowpass via notch and highpass to bandpass. We attached great importance to the usability of the manual controls and CV inputs for both stereo and dual mono applications. For the filter parameters frequency (F), resonance (Q) and type (T) common controls and CV inputs as well as single controls and CV inputs are available. For the filter frequency in addition a manual control and CV input for the filter spread (frequency difference or delta F) is available.

Controls:

F: master frequency control for both filters (large knob)
Type 1 / Type 2: filter type panning/morphing L-N-H-B
Link to 1: Toggle switch so that Type 1 also controls type of filter 2 (i.e. simultaneous filter type control for both filters)
SFM1 / SFM2: Single Frequency Modulation controls (polarizers), connected to the corresponding sockets SFM1/SFM2 (socket SFM1 is normalled to a fixed positive voltage, SFM2 is normalled to SFM1, that way the controls SFM1/SFM2 work as frequency controls for each filter provided that no modulation signals are patched to the SFM1/SFM2 sockets)
CFM: common frequency control, controls two VC-polarizers which process the signals connected to the two sockets CFM1/CFM2, CFM2 is normalled to CFM1, that way also the same modulation signal (e.g. an envelope generator) can be used for both filters and the level controlled simultaneously by the CFM control
Delta F: controls the difference between the frequencies of the two filters manually (frequency "spread"), at center position the frequencies are the same
Delta FM: controls the level of the Delta FM signal (socket), which allows to control the spread between the frequencies also by an external control voltage (e.g. by an LFO or ADSR)
Q: controls the resonance of both filters simultaneously
Level 1 / Level 2: attenuators for the two audio inputs
QM/TM1, QM/TM2: attenuators for the modulation inputs QM/TM1 and QM/TM2
Sockets:

In1 / In2: audio inputs (In2 is normalled to In1)
Out1 / Out2: audio outputs
F: common frequency control input for both filters (~ 1V/oct)
Delta FM: Control voltage for frequency spread, processed by the polarizer Delta FM
SFM1 / SFM2: single frequency modulation inputs, processed by the polarizers SFM1 and SFM2, SFM1 is normalled to a fixed positive voltage, SFM2 is normalled to SFM1#
CFM1 / CFM2: common frequency modulation inputs, processed by the two voltage controlled polarizers controlled by CFM knob, CFM2 is normalled to CFM1
QM/TM1, QM/TM2: the addressing of these sockets/attenuators is defined by internal jumpers. QM means Q modulation (i.e. resonance modulation), TM means filter type modulation (QM1 = resonance modulation filter 1, QM2 = resonance modulation filter 2, TM1 = filter type modulation filter 1, TM2 = filter type modulation filter 2), socket QM/TM1 is normalled to a fixed positive voltage, QM/TM2 is normalled to QM/TM1
A 45 degrees triangle next to a socket means that the switching contact of the socket is normalled to a fixed positive voltage.
A vertical triangle indicates the normalling of two sockets.

By means of small circles at the bottom right side of the front panel the user can mark the function of the QM/TM inputs. These assignments are possible:

QM/TM1 controls QM1, QM/TM2 controls QM2, the filter types are not controlled by external CVs
QM/TM1 controls TM1, QM/TM2 controls TM2, the resonances are not controlled by external CVs
QM/TM1 controls QM1 and QM2 simultaneously, QM/TM2 controls TM1 and TM2 simultaneously
Applications:
Stereo filter: two different audio signals are connected to the audio inputs. At the outputs appear the filtered signals. The filterings depend upon the positions of the manual controls and the applied control voltages.
Serial mono filter: the mono signal is applied to audio input 1. Audio output 1 is connected to audio input 2. The filtered mono signal appears at audio output 2. One has to pay attention that the filter parameters are set in a way so that a signal will appear at the output. If for example a lowpass and a highpass are daisy chained the frequency of the lowpass has to be higher than the frequency of the highpass. Otherwise no signal will appear at the output.
Parallel mono filter: the audio signal is fed to both audio inputs (e.g. via the normalled sockets In1>In2). By means of a mixer module the audio outputs 1 and 2 are mixed.
The sketch below shows the internal structure of the module in detail.

Release date: about June 2022 (without obligatiion)
All specifications are still preliminary and without obligation !

Morphor AP-1 - Analogue String Synthesis Eurorack Module

video uploads by Morphor

via the Morphor AP-1 Kickstarter

The Morphor AP-1 module is a fully analogue Eurorack module that can produce plucked string sounds. Based on the Karplus-Strong principle, this module is a compact all-in-one solution for generating amazing bass, acoustic guitar and percussion sounds. By using high quality analogue components we made a module with a rich sound. Being only 10HP in width, you won't need a lot of space to get going and start creating some incredible music. Background

I am Thijs, based in Belgium, dipping my toes into developing modules for the first time. After recently graduating as an electronics engineer, I'm currently looking for ways to use my skills and passions to create new things that people love. Thanks to Eli and Matthew from ENT Studios, music lovers who have been just as passionate about this project, this dream is coming to reality. They have over 15 years of experience as electronics engineers and have been supporting me with technical advice, frontplate design and more.

The idea for the Morphor AP-1 module came from personal experience and interests. Being extremely passionate about music, playing bass myself and having some experience with string synthesis in software, the idea to bring this concept to Eurorack in a completely analogue way was obvious from the start. After months of tinkering away I am confident enough in my working prototype to share this exciting project with the world.

The Morphor AP-1 module can produce plucked string sounds with a wide variety of sounds. The module has the following controls:

GATE: to pluck the string, simply insert a 5V pulse into the input. Short triggers work great but you can play around with longer pulses to get rougher sounds.
TUNE: change the frequency of the string with a 1V/oct input. Afterwards you can generate vibrato and other effects with a separate CV pitch input.
COLOUR: you can alter the timbre of the string with this control, including a CV input. This way you can get very noisy or dampened sounds.
FILTER BYPASS: the colour parameter is shaped by an internal filter but can be bypassed if you like. Use your own external filter to generate unique sounds. A one pole low pass filter will give the best results but feel free to get creative with this feature. You can insert anything you like into the loop.
FEEDBACK: by adjusting the feedback amount it's possible to change the decay of the sound. Create short plucked sounds or long ringing strings. In some configurations, you might even get some nice oscillations.
OUTPUT: take the output to the rest of your modular system and start experimenting!
Other information:

Frequency range: sub audio range to roughly 400 Hz
Dimensions: 10HP width, 3U Eurorack standard
3.5mm patch cables for all jacks
16-pin power socket
