Mutable Instruments - Elements: Dark Orchestra [vs Edges & Akemie's Taiko: Jaunty Melody]

Published on Jul 23, 2017 isvisible / isinvisible

"Working on a new track.

Mutable Instruments - Elements: one output being fed back into itself via a vca and filter, and lots of outputs from the Livewire Chaos Computer controlling a lot of inputs on the Elements.
I use this patch, or a variation of it quite a lot and have given it the nick name The Dark Orchestra.

Mutable Instruments - Edges: Running an arpeggio from a Korg MicroKey through a Polyend Poly module and feeding four of the cv's to Edges, and four gates to envelopes to shape the individually filtered (Doepfer filters) outputs of Edges. Then run through input one of the Modcan Dual Delay.

ALM - Akemie's Taiko: Dead simple, cv from the Klee. Then run through input two of the Modcan Dual Delay.

Folktek - Matter: Dead simple, two trigger outs from the Klee, then the output of Matter routed through the Intellijel Springray.

That's about it.

Edges + Akemie's Taiko + Matter

Published on Jul 12, 2017 isvisible / isinvisible

"Edges is not only ace at all that chiptune stuff, but it can also do nicer more regular type sounds.
Here it is being fed outputs from the Toppobrillo 'Quantimator' to make pad type sounds, all being fed through a Doepfer 'A-101-1' filter.
The little melody type thing is the ALM 'Akemie's Taiko'.
And last, but not least, the percussion provided by the Folktek 'Matter'"

MakeNoise Tempi-Samurai Beats

MakeNoise Tempi-Samurai Beats from Richard Devine on Vimeo.

"Sneak peak first patch with the TEMPI module by MakeNoise. TEMPI is a 6 channel, polyphonic, time-shifting module. It provides an intuitive method for the creation and recalling of complex clocking arrangements within a modular synthesizer system.

The primary user interface and programming elements for the module are six large, illuminated buttons:

BUTTON-1 through BUTTON-6, and two smaller illuminated buttons:PGM_A and PGM_B. The module is able to store up to sixty-four clock/timing scenarios called "STATES", arranged in four BANKS of sixteen. An LED is used to indicate the current BANK by <COLOR> and changes in STATE indicated by <FLASHING>. There are INputs for External TEMPO, a Gate INput for MOD, and STATE Selection via a CV INput (with Combo pot for attenuation) and / or GATE INput.

The primary goal of this module is to have the maximum amount of artist-controlled musical variation with a minimum amount of data inputs.

Specific notes about the patch:

All the beats are being sequenced by the Tempi module. There are several stackable cables going out to two Addac Wave players, each playing 72 samples each, and the main drums are coming from the Nord Drum 2, which is then split into two signals one being processed by a Mungo g0 dual delay/storage strip clocking through different delay feedback presets. Then the outputs from one of my ADDAC 101 waveplayer's was then being processed by a Qu-Bit RT-60, and another RT-60 was processing the output of the other ADDAC 101 waveplayer. Running both at the same time and then using one of the Gate outputs 5, and 6 from Tempi to switch through different effects on the RT-60's and at the same time triggering different samples. This is what was creating the different effects processing happening at specific time intervals. Snare noise sound coming from the Hex Inverter new Snare module. Other modulation coming from the OmniMod module from Macro Machines, going out to the Folktek Matter module adding in some of the extra tiny glitches and textures. The drone chords come from the ALM's ALM011 / Akemie's Castle running into the TipTop Z-DSP halls of Valhalla card using program 8. The bassline is from a Modcan FMVDO running into a MakeNoise Optomix. The high harmonic notes played via a Mutable Instruments Ring Module, sending out a clock from channel two from Tempi into X clock input on Rene. Everything was recorded in one take."

Orgone Accumulator + Reflex Liveloop + Chaos Computer + Pithoprakta = Glitch

Published on Jul 8, 2017 isvisible / isinvisible

"Working out a new track.
This one features the Neutron Sound 'Orgone Accumulator', the WMD 'PDO' and the Folktek 'Matter' as the sound sources.
The audio from the Orgone Accumulator is split into two, one is going direct to my mixer, the other is being routed through the Reflex Liveloop in granular (G Move) mode.

The Iron Ether 'Pithoprakta' and the Livewire 'Chaos Computer' both play big parts in this patch."

Mutable Instruments Stages - Easter Egg - Harmonic Oscillator - Full Accompaniment

Published on Dec 12, 2018 isvisible isinvisible

"The Mutable Instruments Stages has a fantastic Easter Egg, a Harmonic Oscillator.
There's no secret button combo or anything like that to remember, just use the provided cable that came with it and join the two sets of 3 pins on the back of the module.

I've made another video of this patch, but just using the Stages and doing a quick demo, here: [below]

Arpeggio melody: Mutable Instruments Stages
Single high notes: Mutable Instruments Braids
Drums: Simmons SDS 8
Percussion: Folktek Matter
Bassline: Livewire AFG"

Mutable Instruments Stages - Easter Egg - Harmonic Oscillator - Quick Demo

"Patch notes for this quick demo:
CV: Koma Komplex Sequencer
Gates/Triggers: The first 3 inputs from the left are steady triggers from an ALM Pamela's Workout.
The last 3 inputs are from an Iron Ether Pithoprakta which has it's looping turned on and off to create random, then locked in patterns.

There's a bit of clipping in the video caused by me having the input to the camera turned up a touch too much. Div."

Modular Synth - WMD PDO & Synchrodyne - A Little Ditty I'm Working On

Published on Jun 7, 2017 isvisible / isinvisible

"Working on a little ditty with the WMD Phase Displacement Oscillator (PDO) and Synchrodyne.
The PDO is being routed direct from it's filter (Quad AFF) mix output into a rackmount ARP Omni Ensemble unit for stringish sounds.
The Synchrodyne (3 of it's outputs mixed together) is being routed through a ZVEX Instant Lo-Fi Junky and then out via an Intellijel Springray for organish sounds.

Bassdrum and snare from the Folktek Matter is being routed through a Mungo d0 which is being cv'd to create a bassline.

I think I'll be adding a few more bits and pieces to it, but thought it sounded quite nice for a simple patch."

Folktek @ Moogfest 2019 Explorations by Bill T Miller of Orgy Of Noise

Published on May 20, 2019 Bill T Miller

"- Arius Blaze of Folktek put together this mini-system with FOLKTEK modules: power, gait, roam (dual a/r), matter ii, alter in walnut case for Moogfest 2019. It was patched up and ready to and I poked and prodded and tweeked out exploring the various realms of sonics. Since it was the first time seeing hearing touching any of these modules in person, i approached it with a naive chaos random factor and loved the sounds i was able to conjure.... Jumped right into my Orgy Of Noise - Bill T Miller weirdo mode and had fun instantly. THANX ARIUS /Folkek & THANX MOOGFEST."

Modal Electronics Goes Eurorack at NAMM

Some pics sent my way via effegee on the NAMM floor. Click each for the full size shot. You'll see what appears to be a GC YNC? MIDI module and 3 008 VCF modules in black, clearly from the Modal 008 hardware synthesizer. In white, below you'll see five modules based on the Modal 002 - two 002 NCO modules, and three 002 VCF modules.

The module on the top right is the Folktek Matter.
