The Origin of the Moog Trademark Logo

via @moogmusicinc

"This month in 1964, the iconic Moog trademark logo was introduced."

It reads:

“This year, the R.A. Moog Co. begins its second decade of service to musicians, enxperimenters, and hobbyists. As a result of the first decade’s accomplishments, the R.A. Moog Co. is now regarded as a leader in the field of electronic music instrumentation.

A new trademark has been created to graphically symbolize the concepts upon which R.A. Moog products and services are based. the musical note instantly evoke the feeling of music, while the surrounding circle, open at the top, creates a sense of unity and movement. The trademark is simple enough to be instantly recognizable, and tasteful enough to complement the appearance of the finest electronic musical equipment. As such, this trademark will now be used to identify all R.A. Moog products.

Sincerely,

Robert A. Moog”

Note the logo came a decade after Bob Moog started. Also note the statement calls out experimenters. Musicians and hobbyists are expected, but ezperimenters? Pretty cool when you think about it.

Endorphin.es Grand Terminal

Published on Feb 7, 2017 Perfect Circuit Audio

"The Grand Terminal, from Endorphin.es, is a multifunctional dual envelope (doubling as a band limited oscillator), dual filter, and FX processor for Eurorack synthesizers. The Filter types include Ladder, Diode, Low Pass Gate, State Variable and Comb which can be used as a stereo mixer, dual mono, or in serial. The envelopes are Attack-Decay or Attack-Release style, and can be looping to make LFOs or band limited oscillators. When an envelope is looping, the CV input responds to 1v/Oct signals. Also included is the "Cabin Pressure," which is a multi-FX unit that can produce various stereo reverbs, delays and chorus. A Stereo headphone output and a mono modular level output are both present for easy monitoring and recording."

Roland Jupiter-6 Synthesizer Filter VCF Build - Demo 01

Published on Feb 7, 2017 gstormelectro

"Audio and Video by G-Storm Electro c.2017

This video demos a Roland Jupiter-6 synthesizer clone filter VCF. This breadboard build took two days, and for me is the largest one I've built yet. Does this circuit sound as good as the original? You be the judge. Anyway, I really wanted to hear what it sounded like before deciding about building my own module.

I came across schematics for the Roland Jupiter-6 at amsynths.co.uk. They actually sell completed modules and PCBs, however they seem to be perpetually out of stock. This will be a nice companion multi-mode filter to go next to my SEM module. IMHO the SEM sounds buttery and creamy, and the Jupiter-6 is a complete savage with outrageous low end."

"This one is as mint as you are likely to ever find. Works perfect, sounds amazing with a resonance that should have a warning on it - very powerful resonance on the tran 2000 filter. Wood work is in really good condition and all dials/sliders work as they should."
