YAMAHA CS80 with 16 OSC Unison Mod & Sheet Music Stand
via this auction
"MSRP was initially $6,800. and later was raised to $7,100. and if you were lucky enough to get one at all you paid retail for it. (BTW, using an internet Inflation Calculator that works out to $23,461.28 in today's dollars... so these used CS80s should really be selling for in excess of $20,000. today.) It is hands down the best sounding and most inspiring keyboard out there. Period. Nothing else even comes close.
Fat analog sound with 16 oscillators. That's like eight mini-Moogs at the same time!! (if you use the third oscillator on the mini as a control oscillator for vibrato like most players do). Velocity and pressure sensitive keyboard. Amazing glissando and portamento effects. A phenomenal ring modulator which can also emulate an arpeggiator. A wah-wah effect switch with a jack in the back for a pedal. And has the pitch ribbon bar which creates whammy-bar type subtle vibrato or soaring 8-octave dive bomb effects. Includes three different owner's manuals (pdf files)...
The synthesizer comes as shown in the pictures... with the power cord, black tolex lid, a clear removable music stand and the two metal legs that clamp together. They are very strong as they support 242 pounds. There are four holes on the bottom of the synth for screwing the legs onto the synth but I don't have those. It is resting on the legs and that's worked fine for many years. There is one minor modification to the unit... a tiny hard to see toggle switch a few inches left of the keyboard which puts all 16 oscillators in unison."

Note how the lights cutoff on the pads in this shot but not others. Any ideas why? I thought it could be the camera catching the refresh rate, but aren't these red leds and wouldn't the pads just be on or off? Not seeing the same for the EA-1 on B.
The Secret Society (DiNDDL11) by Lyonel Bauchet
" DiNDDL11 | 2011
DiNDDL is the digital only arm of the well established DiN label and as such is a perfect vehicle for releasing live concert material, experimental releases and introducing new artists to the DiN audience. After the release of "Submission 01" as DiNDDL10 the first DiNDDL artist sampler compilation album we start off the next batch of releases with the latter scenario, the introduction of a new artist.
Lyonel Bauchet is a well established and prolific composer of music for TV, film and radio and in that respect he mirrors one aspect of DiN label boss Ian Boddy's DiN extra-curricular activities. Over the space of 35 years he has composed over 2,000 such pieces of music but has never sought a career in releasing music for public consumption in the form of album releases. Over this time he has created a wonderful studio just north of Paris for his work that alongside state of the art recording hardware features, and is centred upon, a monumentally huge Buchla 200e modular synthesiser. This is quite an instrument who's name may not be so familiar as other such modulars from the likes of Moog but in many ways it is a far more sophisticated piece of equipment and is capable of an incredibly rich sonic palette.
Boddy first contacted this talented French composer via a synth forum and was astonished to find that other than a few download tracks and videos Bauchet had no recognised label album releases. Believing that the music he heard was perfect for the DiN label Boddy invited him to release this album which is a distillation of his best work based around the Buchla 200e and previously only available to a handful of people via his synth forum connections. The 9 tracks spanning over 60 minutes of music range in style from gorgeous ambient atmospheres through driving sequencer work-outs to full on rhythmic excursions. However throughout the album you can hear a master craftsmen at work with astonishing sound clarity and a wonderful over arching organic feel courtesy of the mighty Buchla.

Moog Multimoog, vintage analog synthesizer
via this auction
"The Multimoog is more advanced than the Micromoog – it features two oscillators (instead of one), an extra octave of keys (44 instead of 32), plus aftertouch. The aftertouch lets you bend notes, control filter modulation and waveshapes for some incredible effects – this function didn’t come on other Moogs. There are a lot of different ways to patch the modulation wheel and aftertouch. The Multimoog even features an audio input letting you use the Moog filter as a stand-alone effect for other instruments. This function wasn’t included on the Moog Prodigy."

Korg Trident 8 voice Ensemble synthesizer Strings, Brass, and polysynth
via this auction
"All original Korg Trident Ensemble analog 8 voice polysynth 1980-81 MIJ still. NO MIDI on this synth! This is an awesome vintage analog synth,16 memory patches only though. The Trident also had a very excellent onboard/built-in Flanger effect, when turned on and blended/mixed with the other sections made some weird and wonderful polysynth sounds for sure! These had really nice analog string & brass sounds, especially the Strings section as this was really a String Polysynth first and one of the best ones ever at that back in the day. Also this was Korg's professional flagship analog polysynth around 1980-82,and it was way better, and way more expensive than the Korg Poly 6 or the Roland Juno 6/60, and Korg Poly 61/Poly61M, which came on the market more or less at the same time, early 80's. All of the other ones mentionrd had fake cheaper wood particle board ends, which always broke way too easy, unlike the real solid hardwood ends on the Trident. The Korg Poly61M came a little later as it had early basic MIDI. The Trident had 3 separate Ensemble sections--- really excellent Strings, decent Brass, and a decent Polysynth, which could be all blended/mixed together--- all 61 keys for a thick sweet analog polyphonic/paraphonic polysynth, but only any two sections at a time in split-key mode. Each section had its own unique separate VCOs and ADSR enevelopes/VCO filters, and programabilties. There are no issues that I am aware, of all oscillators work proper, no dead keys or voices, no broken knobs or other controls,or sliders anywhere, and they all work 100 %, all leds light up, as well as Korg's unique 4 way pitch bender, which was very unique and is perfect and unbroken as, these sometimes are on the Trident, and the VCA is very loud on this synth!"
