After twenty-five years of cards, letters and emails The Interstellar Suite is getting remixed in 5.1 surround sound. Amin Bhatia is working with award winning producer/engineer Frank Morrone (Lost, The Kennedys and Sleepy Hollow) to transform his original analog baby into a 25th Anniversary 5.1 Surround Edition. It’s not straightforward and it’s not easy but it’s already blowing the ears and minds of everyone involved on the project.
But that's only the beginning of Amin's vision - imagine bonus audio, all sorts of video extras, and a glossy, full color collectors edition hardcover book.

"The Phonogene is a digital re-visioning and elaboration of the tape recorder as musical instrument. It takes its name from a little known, one of a kind instrument used by composer Pierre Schaeffer. It is informed by the worlds of Musique Concrete where speed and direction variation were combined with creative tape splicing to pioneer new sounds, and Microsound where computers divide sound into pieces smaller then 1/10 of a second to be manipulated like sub-atomic particles."

As a stand-alone device it generates unpredictable continuously morphing oscillations on the Audio Output jack, and random CV fluctuations out the dual-direction "Mood CV" jack. A second CV input jack controls the Swash and Noisegate sections with positive and negative CV voltage. An audio input jack allows for distorting an audio signal beyond recognition, or using audio to trigger and modulate the chaos. The Swash knob is a 10-turn Bournes pot for adjusting minor variations. Each Swash has its own peculiarly unique sound."

Based on user requests, the newly released version of firmware adds the following items:
* Native support for the SparkFun serial LCD controller
* Autotune failure information display [Set Split 40]
* User-defined MIDI velocity mapping
* Auto-send of patch parameters with a Program Change
Two elements are also changed in this release:
* Correction for the ‘reset’ issue noted here:
