Introducing the Seaboard

Introducing the Seaboard from ROLI on Vimeo.

"The piano keyboard meets the future in a revolutionary new approach to music

The Seaboard is a radically new musical instrument based on the design of a piano keyboard. Its patent-pending approach brings together a traditional approach to making music with cutting edge digital technology in a way that is so intuitively tactile that you can play it with your eyes closed.

This approach enables performers, composers and producers to exert unprecedented real-time control of all the major characteristics of sound: volume, pitch and timbre. If you can play the piano you already know how to play the Seaboard, and it literally puts a new world of expressive possibilities right at your fingertips.

The core team brings together a wide range of skills - product, industrial and interaction design, software engineering, business management, and of course music production, administration, management, teaching, networking and strategy and a passion for creating more intuitive ways of making music.

In early 2011, Seaboard successfully entered the Incubator.

More information on the Seeboard website"

"Evolved from the piano keyboard, the Seaboard is a new musical instrument which bridges the gap between acoustic and digital music by putting the control of pitch, volume and timbre right at your fingertips.

A limited edition of 88 GRANDs will be available for pre-order worldwide starting in April 2013. In recognition of its provenance, each will be named after a particular note on the piano keyboard, from A0 to C8.

Our cutting-edge SoundDial software gives you complete control of the Seaboard’s sound and unprecedented integration between software and hardware."

"It is almost 3 months ago since I uploaded my last video. I was very busy with the Beyond Berlin project. But I felt the urge to upload something. And then this came up last evening. Simple and pure, only 2 sequences, a carpet of sound and a modest solo. Hope you like it.

One 8-step sequence comes from the Doepfer MAQ16/3 sequencer and drives the Synthesizers.com Modular. The other 8-step sequence comes from the Synthesizers.com Q960 sequencer which drives the Rob Hordijk OSC HRM which is only modulated by an Q109 Envelope Generator for the VCA on it, so one voice with only two modules. The secret is that the gate of row 2 of the MAQ16/3, which also has an 8-step sequence with steps 2 and 7 off and runs half time of row 1, is used for the EG's and shifting the Q960.

Anne used my iPhone 4 to film this video.

You can download/see/hear the video and music from my website soon."

Custom Minimoog Style Wood Case for Clavia Nord Rack

Note the listing is for the case only and not the synth. Via the seller:

"This is a custom built item made by hand. I had made one to play live. A bunch of people loved it so I made another one which is much better than the first. I have not used this one for playing out. The keyboard is an Alesis Q25 midi controller. All keys work and mod & pitch wheels work. Important note: There are 3 buttons. The one on the left & right are octave buttons and work fine. The middle one is a funtion button that does work, but the data slider is not exposed. It is inside the enclosure. So the middle button is not used. In short this is a 25Key midi controller that transmits on channel 1 with Octave, Pitch Wheel & Modulation wheels. I am including the power supply for the controller. This is custom fit to a Nord Rack. If you are interested in a custom enclosure for a different synth you can email me. This item is only the wood enclosure & controller (Synth Not Included)..."

CGS Multi Tempo Patch

"I don't know how many years it is that I have been working towards getting a decent sized patch going. Too much building, too many interruptions, too many times having to pull something apart to answer questions. So over the last couple of weeks, my intentions got a little further than just being that, and a managed a couple of rudimentary/experimental patches. Finally today I spent a few hours putting this together. I don't know how many years I've wanted to do this particular type of patch, but it's been a lot. The basis is the C Am F G chord progression. VCO 1 is playing those notes, VCO 2 is playing harmony at twice the rate. VCO 3 is playing a 15 step sequence at 4(?) times the rate again, while VCO 4 is playing the "lead" at 1/2 the rate of VCO 1. The lead uses a Doepfer Phase Locked Loop to break up the tone a bit. This was just quickly recorded with the camera to make sure I have a record of it. At the moment there is no audio recording equipment in the room! Oh - the Serge isn't part of the patch. It is still wired up as per the last video."

Patch has two VCOs running from different rows of the sequencer/programmer. Neg slew as clock for seq. Neg Slew as LFO for second filter. 1st filter and Gate driven by Envelope generator. 2nd Env Generator acting as sub-oscillator. 2nd Gate used as a mixer/level."

Googlish:

"ES-1, the other is for overdubbing Poly800. To Poly800 is because there is no arpeggiator, "Drum has been added to play the MIDI notes and Choi and exported in arpeggiator DAW.
Since I can not even change the tone or something loose in LFO, I was allowed to Munyumunyu the CUTOFF and RESO filter for audio after recording a fine phrase.
PowerDirector is a collection of video effects of recent favorite. And the light PowerDirector, there is a dedicated track BGM, so you can manually enter any marker while listening, is perfect for operations that will change the cut to the beat like this. With that said, I've tried various effects doubles as a practice. It was also good at the weather today, but gone over restraint, if used well, the eyes a little restrained, cool things that I feel like I can I will. '"

"For auction is one of my DIY projects that I can not complete due to time constraints.

It is a OAKLEY SOUND TB3031 Roland TB 303 clone with an integrated MIDI interface and CV / GATE converter.
Midi interface remains a problem, above say it's somewhere a soldering defects available.
By pressing the lower right corner of the device jumps to function. With a CV gate converter I tested the Oakley, it works flawlessly
However, the Midi zickt around like said.

It is the rare components are installed, sound is excellent, but as I now also have other devices missing here, my time to debug the ready.
For someone with time and knowledge of electronics certainly not a problem, since it's really just a trifle.

The clone is the TB3031 by Oakley Sound, Midi interface from Seb's DIY Page. Links I can gladly provide on request. Schematics and code is all
freely available.

Supplied with power supply and well packed (which is already visible in the photos)."

"anodized aluminium housing, CNC engraved labeling, darkened (stained) lacquered oak wood sides with nice wood pattern.

Built like a tank.

Sound is triggered by clicking to front panel or by external drum pad or external audio signal.

Trigger button = continuous sound (you can use it as dub siren).

Great for sampling or live performance or you can trigger it with analog sequencer/synth

You can connect external drum pad into Trig In connector for live drumming.

Or connect individual output from your drum machine to SSD´s Trig in and "replace" internal sound by SSD´s pure analog sound."

Assume Control

The classic analog synth sound is invading the airwaves and dance floors of the world and taking modern music to ever higher levels of creativity and style. And now, with the arrival of the Yamaha AN1X Control Synthesizer, you can assume control of your sound card and expand your musical universe like never before.

Analog Physical Modeling Synthesis

Featuring Yamaha's new Analog Physical Modeling Synthesis, which faithfully - and reliably - models analog sound digitally, the AN1X brings the fat, familiar sounds of the classic analog synths together with intuitive realtime control features in one futuristic, highly intelligent package that will change forever the way you create and perform your own music.

Innovative

A truly innovative, incredible sounding synth that's designed from scratch for techno, trance and every other type of modern dance music existing or yet unconceived, the AN1X gives you the power to create fresh and inspiring music every time you switch it on.

2 Scene Memories With Realtime Morphing Between Scenes

Each AN1X voice has two Scene memories which let you store "snapshots" of specific control knob settings, to effectively give you two distinct sounds - each of which are available at the touch of a Scene switch.

Scene Control Feature

You can activate the "Scene Control" feature which lets you use the Modulation Wheel (or a Foot Controller, or any other assignable continuous controller) to morph, or cross-fade between Scenes in realtime as you play. If there's a particular sound during the morph that you want to keep, you can easily store it to one of the Scene switches for the selected voice. You can even load Scene data from another voice to the current voice.

Intuitive "Modeless" System With Assignable Control Knobs

The ANX1 basically always operates in Voice Play/Edit mode, which means that you can edit the sound as you play by turning the 8 control knobs to do things like open a filter, tweak the resonance, adjust the ring modulator, reshape the envelope, and much more.

Control Knobs

Each control knob gives you quick and easy access to one of many tone generator parameters. You can even assign a specific parameter to each knob for customized control over detailed aspects of your sound during performance. Each knob can also send Control Change messages to control specific parameters of external MIDI instruments.

"This is a boutique hand-made synth from the USA. (Website: http://mracidmachine.com/)

It can be played by hand or set into 'loop' mode for drones, but also has CV and gate inputs for external control via analogue sequencers etc.

Runs on standard 9v power (same as most guitar pedals). I don't have an adapter for it as I always use my power brick. Or you could use a standard 9v battery.

Housed in a strong metal case. I have gigged this thing on several occasions and it is very tough and perfect for live experimental sounds. In my experience its great for weird metallic sounds and heavily modulated drones, but not great for low bass sounds."

VERMONA fourMulator Quad Modulation Engine Details

"fourMulator is a digital quad LFO-module for euro rack compatible modular synthesizer and sound processing systems. Due to its ability to synchronize the modulators (LFOs) to each other or to an overall clock-reference, fourMulator is capable generating complex and rhythmic modulation structures.

Modulators (LFOs)

Each modulator offers six wave forms: ascending and descending saw tooth, square, triangle, sine and random (sample & hold) with a frequency range between 0.05Hz (20 seconds) to approx. 100Hz. Each modulator offers wave form and trigger outputs, the latter sending an impulse with every new start of the selected wave form. Reset- and CV-inputs allow external parameter manipulation - from other modules or from other modulators of the fourMulator itself.

Synchronization

All four modulators work independently. However, they can be synchronized with each other. Each modulator can be individually synchronized to the left neighboring module or to a clock-reference.

Two or more synchronized modulators always oscillate at the same frequency. However, a synchronized modulator can be phase-shifted by up to 180° (a half-cycle) to the clock-reference. This allows easy creation of counter-rotating modulations. More complex modulations can be achieved using the CV-input to manipulate phase-shift.

With active clock-synchronization, the corresponding modulators oscillate in reference to a common clock-signal, but use individual clock-dividing factors. Again, advanced possibilities result from being able to manipulate clock-division through the modules' CV-inputs.

Both forms of synchronization can be combined. With one modulator being synchronized to a clock signal, it may as well serve as reference to the right neighboring modulator.

CLOCK Generator (CLK)

fourMulator integrates an internal clock generator. Its tempo can be assigned using a tap-tempo-button or by using an external clock-reference."
