"Available here is the one-and-only Metasonix TM-1 vacuum tube waveshaper, ringmod, and distortion pedal/desk top signal processor in excellent condition. Metasonix have built their reputation on the uniqueness of their products and this pedal is a fine example. You simply will not hear other signal processors create a similar flavor of squelchy, gritty, nasty, obnoxious, scrunchy, squealy, boisterous sounds that this unit can do. It uses vacuum tubes in a totally original way. But despite the noisiness of it's character it's still very alluring to listen to. It's got an organic feel to the distortion (for lack of a better term).
The TM-1 is one of the early model pedals and is extremely difficult to come by these days. It's rapidly becoming a collector's item. I bought this one second hand from Analogue Haven years ago and it has lived on the desktop in my smoke free home studio ever since. This particular unit does have four tiny screw holes in the front corners of the case that can be seen in the pictures. I don't know what their purpose was but they don't effect the usability of the pedal in any way...

With its all vacuum tube circuit, there is no mistaking the sound of the TM-1 with any other device.
Metasonix took the basic circuit of their award-winning TS-21 Hellfire Modulator, and added the world's first vacuum tube audio ring modulator. The result is a new sound-effects device in a small, economical package. The sound is totally unique, powerful and distinctive. Use it as a stand-alone effects box, or mount it in a modular synth with the optional TM-D or TM-M kit.
The pentode preamp gives gain and distortion; the pulser injects small pulses on top of the signal; and the beam tube gives both wavefolding and ring modulation (carrier provided by an internal wide-range oscillator, or inject your own carrier signal). The TM-1 can also be used as a self-contained pseudorandom signal generator, by patching its output back to its input. You've read about "strange attractors" and other chaotic sound generation techniques? The TM-1 is the first all-tube chaotic sound generator. The results must be heard to be believed!
Frequency response: less than 10 Hz to greater than 40 kHz
Distortion: from less than 0.1% to 100%, depending on control settings and input waveform
Hum and noise: less than 0.5 mV

Improvising with Animoog and Little Phatty. The setup is quite simple, and the result is what you hear. It was a very cool experience, and thought it would be nice to share. I could've explored the filter capabilities a little better, but I just didn't want to.
During the video I use the Little Phatty sort like a bass, with the LOW KEY PRIORITY.

The waves have been carefully selected and optimized by HG Fortune to port his special sound to the Waldorf Blofeld thus extending it's sonic range into far outer space. Accordingly the soundset features mostly patches for ambient, soundscapes, textures and athmospherics, but also some other goodies like classic synthstuff. So the main usage of these patches is for great intros and complex evolving backgrounds to play along.
In order to use these patches the waveset 'HGF-Blofeld-Waveset-01.wpc' with 86 wave programs has to be transmitted to the Waldorf Blofeld via the Spectre software. Of course for the Blofeld desktop the SL license has to be installed in order to utilize the Sample RAM."

SIGMA's Sleep of the Shadow Featuring Buchla Inspired Electronic Music Box
You might remember the Buchla Inspired Electronic Music Box DIY-pages first posted here back in August of 2012. Sleep of the Shadow is a release featuring the system pictured below."Seed to this new Sigma-record came from my Electronic Music Box (EMB) project that was DIY-project for compact modular synthesizer. EMB has strong connection to Buchla’s Music Easel synthesizer and “Source of Uncertainty” (SOU) concept. Source of uncertainty is something that affects everything. SOU can occur at any point in music creation process, and it always varies from day to day. Because of this SOU is very strong tool in music and particularly in composition process where this random touch can lead to some interesting places. EMB has one implementation of SOU and can generate quantized random voltages. This means that you can choose from linear or geometric access to the number of random voltages. These voltages can be converted to musical pitches so that you can generate random sequences where randomnes is controlled by voltage. Examples of this technique can be heard on “Touch of Uncertainty”, “Strange Attractor” and “Decomposition”. “Electronic Druid” and “Orbital Maneuvers” where composed for “Ambient Laboratory” concert in 2011. “Sleep of the Shadow” and “Greener Grass” are harvest from “Greener Grass” art and documentary project by Mari Keski-Korsu.
