The Girl From Ipanema / 「イパネマの娘」 / Berglund Instruments - NuEVI with Modular Synthesizer
video by BANANA su
Berglund Instruments NuEVI demo
Main : Modular Synth controled NuEVI

"The Girl From Ipanema - イパネマの娘
・NuEVI/NuRAD IN端子
・Pitch CV OUT端子
・Breath CV OUT端子
・MIDI OUT端子
Googlish:
"The Girl From Ipanema --The Girl from Ipanema
Bossa Nova is fashionable !!!
Just by making the song selection Bossa Nova, you can transform yourself into a fashionable person ... !!!!!
My EVI is a CV model, but this time I tried to play it with a modular synth using the Eurorack CV module.
This CV module has
-NuEVI / NuRAD IN terminal
-Pitch CV OUT terminal
-Breath CV OUT terminal
-MIDI OUT terminal
NuEVI / RAD The MIDI terminal of is actually equipped with a breath and pitch CV output terminal (it seems that you should not call it MIDI if you install a signal other than the MIDI signal, but lol), and connect it to the IN terminal of the CV module. I'll use it.
I've been experimenting with this setting with the desire to get closer to John Swana's sound.
I used the GATE terminal to give it a moderate attack. "

Schismatrix - Synths in Fiction
Dennis wrote in to let me know about a book he just started reading called Schismatrix by Bruce Sterling. To his surprise a couple of passages referred to the synthesizer. The following are two passages.
"A second woman knelt silently with her back to the right-hand wall, facing the garden's image. Lindsay knew at once that she was a Shaper. Her startling beauty alone was proof, but she had that strange, intangible air of charisma that spread from the Reshaped like a magnetic field. She was of mixed Asiatic-African gene stock: her eyes were tilted, but her skin was dark. Her hair was long and faintly kinked. She knelt before a rack of white keyboards with an air of meek devotion.
The yarite spoke without moving her head. "Your duties, Kitsune." The girl's hands darted over the keyboards and the air was filled with the tones of that most ancient of Japanese instruments: the synthesizer."
"Linday slept, exhausted, with his head propped against the diplomatic bag. An artificial morning shone through the false glass doors. Kitsune sat in thought, toying quietly with the keys of her synthesizer.
Her proficiency had long since passed the limits of merely technical skill. It had become a communion, an art sprung from dark intuition. Her synthesizer could mimic any instrument and surpass it: rip its sonic profile into naked wave forms and rebuild it on a higher plane of sterilized, abstract purity. Its music had the painful, brittle clarity of faultlessness.
Other instruments struggled for that ideal clarity but failed. Their failure gave their sound humanity. The world of humanity was a world of losses, broken hopes, and original sin, a flawed world, yearning always for mercy, empathy, compassion... It was not her world."
Schismatrix on Amazon
Update via Loren in the comments: "Another book that has an electronic music theme is Thomas Pynchon's The Crying of Lot 49. In the story a bar across the street from Stanford University has a jukebox that has nothing but electronic music on it (since its the 1960s it has mostly stuff like Cage, Stockhausen, Henry, etc). The story revels that this bar is actually a famous hang out for electronic musicians who come and actually perform in the bar, which has its own equipment for such events."

Bob Moog Foundation Announces Feast for the Future - May 23
"'Feast for the Future' to Support Bob Moog Foundation on Synthesizer Pioneer’s Birthday
Local restaurants to donate proceeds benefiting Dr. Bob’s SoundSchool
April 29, 2013, Asheville, NC -- Eleven local restaurants in the Asheville community are coming together for Feast for the Future, a fundraiser to support local non-profit, the Bob Moog Foundation. Feast for the Future takes place on May 23rd, what would have been the 79th birthday of the Foundation’s namesake, Bob Moog. In honor of this special occasion Early Girl Eatery, Moe’s Original BBQ, Wicked Weed, Chestnut, Laughing Seed Café, Jack of the Wood, Chai Pani, MG Road, Bouchon, Salsa’s, and The Local Joint, will be donating a portion of their sales from the day to the Bob Moog Foundation. This event is being sponsored by the Mountain Xpress and Asheville Radio Group’s 98.1 the River. More information on the event, including information about participating restaurants, can be found at www.bobmoogfoundation.org.
Michelle Moog-Koussa, Executive Director of the Bob Moog Foundation, states, “What began as a one restaurant event last year has blossomed to encompass eleven local restaurants. We are so grateful to the culinary community in Asheville as they support our efforts to inspire the next generation of creative thinkers. We look forward to growing Feast for the Future every year and to growing Dr. Bob's SoundSchool to hundreds of schools in Western North Carolina in the coming years".
Proceeds from the event will benefit the expansion of Dr. Bob’s Sound School, the Foundation’s STEAM (science, technology, education, art, math) -based educational initiative that teaches second grade children the science of sound through the magic of music. Using electronic musical and acoustic instruments, as well as oscilloscopes and custom teaching materials, the innovative program engages children in the basic physics of sound through the parameters of Bob Moog’s pioneering legacy in electronic music. Dr. Bob’s SoundSchool recently completed its pilot year with resounding success, and is currently in 32 classrooms reaching over 600 students in Buncombe County and Asheville City Schools. The Foundation aims to expand the program regionally and nationally in the next three to five years.
Julie Stehnling, owner of Early Girl Eatery, reflects on her experience last year as the sole participant in Bob’s Birthday Salute, “Early Girl is so proud to be part of Feast for the Future. Last year our staff and our guests had a blast celebrating Bob's birthday. Remembering Bob as a kind man who was one of our own and also celebrating him as a visionary of our times is an honor all in Asheville are lucky to have. Both my children and I are inspired by the Bob Moog Foundation's Dr. Bob’s SoundSchool curriculum. Preserving Bob's genius and working to inspire more folks both locally and nationally is work we are so happy to support.”
The Bob Moog Foundation honors the legacy of synthesizer pioneer Bob Moog through its mission of igniting the innovative and creative spirit through the intersection of music, science, history, and innovation. Dr. Moog was a resident of Asheville for 25 years before his passing in 2005.

Some old school synth spotting. Prophet Remote keytar at 2:56. KORG MS20 & Poly-61 amongst others. Anyone ID what looks like a racked white modular? Reminds me of Digisound but then again not.

Root Node – I'm a Synthesizer (feat. Hatsune Miku)
Published on May 20, 2015 Root Node
Cover art: http://www.aversionofreality.com/blog...
Vocals: Hatsune Miku V3 English by Crypton Future Media
Website: http://www.RootNodeStudio.com
via wikipedia:
"Hatsune Miku (初音ミク?), sometimes referred to as Miku Hatsune, is a humanoid persona voiced by a singing synthesizer application developed by Crypton Future Media. Hatsune Miku is portrayed as a 16-year-old girl with long turquoise pigtails. She uses Yamaha Corporation's Vocaloid 2 and Vocaloid 3 singing synthesizing technologies. She also uses Crypton Future Media's Piapro Studio, a singing synthesizer VSTi Plugin. She was the second Vocaloid sold using the Vocaloid 2 engine, and the first Japanese Vocaloid to use the Japanese version of the Vocaloid 2 engine. Her voice is sampled from Japanese voice actress Saki Fujita. Hatsune Miku has performed at her concerts onstage as an animated projection.[1]
The name of the character comes from merging the Japanese words for first (初 hatsu?), sound (音 ne?) and future (Miku (ミク?) sounds like a nanori reading of future, 未来, normally read as "mirai"[2]), referring to her position as the first of Crypton's "Character Vocal Series". According to Crypton, her name is meant to signify the "first sound from the future"."
