"It's been a very reliable synth, works great right after powering it on and very little warm up time. All six voices sound great and auto tune with no problems. All keys trigger, all knobs and controls working, it's ready to play. I can't tell the difference at all between this and the Obxa, a very large sounding synth! It's extremely clean inside and out. The power supply and battery were checked recently and tested good, this beast is ready to play."

Note this is a preset synth with limited controls, however MIDISoft makes a hardware box that gives you access to a number of additional parameters. The OB-Sx was a poor man's OB-Xa preset synth but has been going up in price lately.

"Up for sale is a fully functional Arp Odyssey 2810. It has a 4023 filter installed by a previous owner and an obvious Arp fan so don't expect the Moog sound here. This synth sounds great and was very well kept. It has restored original sliders that operate as nice as Arp originally intended, new capacitors, polished key contacts (jwire system), and it was tuned/calibrated. The keys are level and bushings are nice so it's a pleasure to play. You can switch between octaves and use the pitch bend knob all with accurate results and very stable oscillators. It comes with a really old wooden case that was custom made for the Odyssey"

Quiet Saturdays - Episode 26 - live studio

Published on May 7, 2016 Alba Ecstasy

"So, I've got a cold. My head is exploding, I'm coughing but the most important, my ears are clogged and I almost hear at 50%!
That why, after I finnished to record this Episode, 26, I had to remove a couple of the solo-trance-arp measures and record them again because it were way out of measure... And the final mix is not quite balanced. I promisse I'll fix it for Bandcamp!

Air noise - Braids - Ripples - Clouds sequenced by Beatstep Pro
FX sound - System-1
Oxygene style fx - Radias (I like it with sawtooth)
Drums and sequence - Circuit
Trance arp - Virus Ti2
Bass - iSEM for iPad controlled by the arp of OP-1

That's all for today. A little bit short but I hope you'll enjoy it!"

Journey Of The Toys by John L Rice

"Here's something I threw together recently. It was just a test I wasn't even going to record and then the concept quickly started to become a multi-tracked audio/video monster that needed too many more parts and fixing/redos so I threw in the towel and just left it as-is and audio only. :-/

First heard is a Moog Sub Phatty through a Strymon DIG but was tacked on later and I had plans to add some drone and percussion stuff underneath it that I never got around to adding.

This project actually began with a patch on my big 5U modular synth using 3 Synth Tech MOTM-300 VCOs with both Triangle and Saw waves each into the first 6 channels of a Modcan Scanner 69B then out to two Happy Nerding FM AIDs, a Super Sawtor and Fun VCF and then finally to a Synth Tech MOTM-190 VCA and two MOTM-800 EGs. That's the sequenced "clack clack clack" in the background and driven by a Moon Modular 569 sequencer amd 569ESB+569EGB expanders with transposition handled by a M-Audio Keystation 88 through a Synth Tech MOTM-650 MIDI to CV module and the keyboard's MIDI out was also controlling a Mellotron M4000D Rack at the same time with a couple different choir sound sets.

The first main melody section starts out with drums from a Zoom 234 drum machine played by hand (I did a track of just bass and snare first and then another track of just ride cymbal). There is also a track of 2 acoustic dumbeks (hand drums) mostly buried in the mix. A Moog Sub Phatty through a Strymon DIG is used for the melody solo.

The next melody section is played with the Sub Phatty + DIG again and also there is a track of acoustic xylophone.

At the beginning of the last melody section the Mellotron sounds bigger because I started playing chords and the sequence might sound subtly different at times depending on how I hit the chord and which note was grabbed for the transposition. The ascending synth voice that fades in is a Moog MinitMoog through the DIG pedal, the chimes are actual acoustic ones and the fast descending arp that fades in last is the Sub Phatty + DIG again.

(note: the picture associated with the soundcloud track isn't the modular patch used in this piece, it's one I took months ago)"

PreenFM 2 synthesizer Sound Demo

Published on May 7, 2016 jabberwalky

"This is a truly amazing FM synthesizer, for a really great price. It is above and beyond any other FM synth available, and bitch slaps the VolcaFM.

This was originally an in depth spec review of the PreenFM 2, but it was over 30 minutes long so I cut out all the talking and left the playing parts."

Ensoniq SQ-80 / ESQ-1 patch bank demo (80's sounds)

Published on May 7, 2016 synth-love

"This is a demo of some patches for the SQ-80 (and will likely work on the ESQ-1). I personally find the SQ-80 great for analog type sounds - these are a bit more typical 80's type sounds.

I don't know where these specific patches came from - they were preloaded on a ram cartridge I bought. I tried to keep the names in focus in case there is one you really like and would like to try to search various patch banks on the Internet for it.

Hopefully will serve as a nice demo of the general sound possibilities of the synth."

Phase Me In - Roland Boutique JX-03, JP-08, JU-06, Moog Mother 32 and Behringer Vintage Phaser

Published on May 7, 2016 Earmonkey Music

"My studio has been in somewhat of a disassembled state for several weeks. Trying to update my cables so I don't have a huge mess. Just got a new mixer that I have yet to integrate in. In the meantime, only the Boutiques and the Mother 32 are set up. Also, I got a Behringer Vintage Phaser for $25 new off Amazon. Of course I put the Mother 32 through it. Sounds pretty good. Adds swishy swashiness modulation that fits right in. Just a little jam here using all three Boutiques each on a different MIDI channel so I can switch between them on the Ensoniq EPS 16+."

Are Friends Digital ?

Published on May 6, 2016 100 Things I Do

"Digital get such a bad wrap at the moment, in dark moments of analog synth lust I think of selling these two synths ..... but I never seem to be able to part with them!

JD 800 & D50 (with a hint of tb 3 thrown in). Like a lot of synthaddicts I tend to use a lot of analogue gear. As a change I did this quick noodle to draw some inspiration from my digital side of the studio."
