"Kronecker is a synthesizer with a mechanism to make sounds many times like a rhythm machine each time you press a keyboard.

In addition to synchronizing the trigger speed to the tempo, you can gradually increase the speed or slow it down after pressing the key. This makes it possible to produce synthesizer sounds like bouncing balls and clockwork toys.

Kronecker has four emitters that emit sound particles made from FM tones and noise. At the emitter you can specify at what timing the sound particles will be triggered. You can also add effects such as the pitch and tone of particles gradually changing.

Particles emitted by the emitter can be processed with two resonators, and you can reproduce sounds like particles jumping on strings and pipes.

Kronecker works not only on the iPad but also on the iPhone. It also supports Audio Unit Extensions (AUv3), so you can plug in to AUv3 compatible host. For each screen size, different layouts are designed to be easy to use and intuitive."

"A run through several hip hop style patterns I made this weekend. The Electribe controls the Volca FM and Microgranny and it's audio is fed through the Vermona Filter Lancet. Reverb and flanger on the send fx of the mixer. In this one I tried to get a SP404 kind of vibe by using the looper mfx on the Tribe in conjunction with the wonderful Vermona filter. Cheers!"

"This is my bandmate's Yamaha DX11 which I recently did some repairs on. The DX11 is one of the better four-operator FM synths out there. It sounds much better than say a DX21 or the awful DX9. It's a cheap way to get FM sounds and it sounds pretty good without effects, which synths like the DX7 really benefit from."

The patch starts with an ethnic Bulbul Tarang (aka Indian Banjo) playing a tremolo texture - the filter opens and a supersaw and sine osc is added on top. The Bulbul Tarang is mixed out with the synths and a solo Cor Anglais (aka English Horn) takes over the mix.

The demo ends with all the Cor Anglais, Bulbul Tarang, Supersaw and Sine waves all mixed together - and slop is added for detuning and retuning."

This is a self designed Drum Module prototype offering three Tom/Kick voices including a Tilt Eq and a summing Mixer. Additionally each voice has a single out and its presence may controlled by control voltage.
The Switched Multiple is also a self designed module. It combines and mutes CV signals in many ways.

19. ST Modular - Fay & Clanches

Fay is a self designed Fader, VCA and Decay Envelope combined in one module. Its es being triggered by Clanches. The CEM VCO and DixieII are both mixed through the fader and then being controlled by the VCA and interal Decay.

20. ST Modular - FRANZ OTA Filter

This is a self designed Eurorack filter module with an internal LFO and 3 channel mixer

21. ST Modular - "GIVE" Analog VCO - Self-Made analog VCO with waveshaping option.
22. ST Modular - Avail LFO and Mixer 1U Tile

This is a self designed Module prototype. It is an LFO with Sine, Square and Pulse Out. Pulse width my be adjusted via trimmer. It also offers a 3 channel mixer.

I thought I would do something a little different this time and just make a few quick little tunes with the new JX3P Ableton Pack sounds. This is the second one, entitled Summer Love.

The Roland JX3P was the first synth I ever got my hands on. I still remember the day well, walking into Sam Ash Music and lusting after the new Korg MS2000 on display. I didn't know much about synths at the time, as a guitarist and songwriter I knew they would expand my sound palette, and with some basic piano knowledge I could at least play backing chords and melodies along with pieces I would write. Unfortunately, the MS2000 was 900 dollars, and being a teenager I definitely didn't have that. It didn't stop me from standing in front of it playing with all the sounds for a good half hour. Finally one of the store employees starting talking to me about synths, and suggested I check out the vintage used Roland JX3P they took in. It came with the PG200 Programmer, case, and manuals for both the programmer and synth for only 225 bucks. I heard the first preset and knew I was taking it home. It still makes its way onto most of my recordings."

"In 2014, Roland released the TR-8 drum machine, a continuation of the legacy of the classic TR-808 and 909 devices that defined hip-hop, house and techno. Lots of musicians loved the TR-8 for its faithful drum sounds and hands-on control, but there was plenty of room for improvement.

Enter the TR-8S, Roland's latest entry into the mid-range drum machine market. It does everything the TR-8 does with a few key additions, such as an increased pattern memory, the inclusion of more classic Roland drum sounds out of the box and the ability to upload your own samples.

Of course, with these extra features comes an increase in price: $200 up to $699, to be exact. So is it worth upgrading? In the latest video review from FACT’s Make Music, we put the TR-8S through its paces to find out."
