Bryce still has his jacket! Along with familiar faces in the maker/synth world, you'll spot Depeche Mode's Martin Gore and his wife Kerrilee, Junkie XL, BT, Brian Kehew of the Moog Cookboog, & Mitchel Sigman of Berlin & more.
Update: JJ Abrams is in there as well. I thought I recognized him. Yes, he's into synths. Check out his custom Synthwood Pro-One. He's been mentioned on the site a few other times as well.
Update2: a few more you might recognize, aside from the makers of course: Michael Boddicker, Ellison Wolf of Waveform, Bill Brown, Drew Neumann, and Ed Buller – of Node etc.

If I missed anyone let me know!

Close Encounters Of The Third Kind "The Conversation" performed on the Baloran The River synthesizer

Published on Apr 6, 2019 Sean Christopher Evoking Emotion with Synthesizers

"If you haven't seen this movie in a while I urge you to do so, as it is a FANTASTIC movie! I recreated the iconic synth/UFO conversation scene from Steven Spielberg's Close Encounters of the Third Kind using only the sounds from the incredible Baloran The River synthesizer.

Close Encounters of the Third Kind is a 1977 American science fiction film written and directed by Steven Spielberg, and starring Richard Dreyfuss, Melinda Dillon, Teri Garr, Bob Balaban, Cary Guffey, and François Truffaut. It tells the story of Roy Neary, an everyday blue-collar worker in Indiana, whose life changes after an encounter with an unidentified flying object (UFO).

The score for the film was composed, conducted and produced by John Williams, who had previously worked on Spielberg's Jaws. Williams wrote over 300 examples of the iconic five-tone motif for Close Encounters—the five tones are used by scientists to communicate with the visiting spaceship as a mathematical language—before Spielberg chose the one incorporated into the film's signature theme."

Elektron Digitakt - Full Set (Techno/Electro)

Published on Apr 6, 2019 Oscillator Sink

"If you enjoyed this set you can download it here: http://oscillatorsink.bandcamp.com/al...

It's priced as 'Pay-What-You-Want' so grab it for free with my blessing, but if you want to chuck a few quid my way, it helps support the channel!

I love the Elektron Digitakt, so for the last few weeks, when I have a spare minute I've been putting together patterns with the intention of recording a live set - well here it is!

All sounds coming straight from the Digitakt's main outs (with some light mastering processing applied to the final product), recorded live in a single take."

How I Made My Digitakt Set

Random rhythmic beats from players eye view

Published on Apr 6, 2019 Vykaar Tones

"A hypnotic building beat using doepfer dark times, A-157, Mutant Bass and Snare, Vermona random rhythm, Drumbrute and CR8000. Also features Arturia MiniBrute 2S, Jasper,v- Synth, Arp Odyssey, Korg MS20, Doepfer modular and AIRA modules. As usual the master clock is from my Beatstep Pro sequencer using din/sync to drum machines and A-157 and filtered midi to the modified Darktimes. Ratcheting controlled by lower row of Darktime and gate/clock also modified with a-162 trigger delay which I have lowered the timing capacitor value of so the length is shorter and more useful in this mode. See how two darktimes just fit on top of the eurorack when you take the wooden sides off."

"18 minutes of random wiggling with the FLITZEM DEFÖR Sequencer being triggered from the Westlicht PERFORMER. The Oscialltors used are 2x Cyllene and 1x GIVE II.

Yes, there are some atonal and dissonant passages here, but thats part of the game when wiggling around. Any quantizer would solve that immediately (just didnt have one at hand)."

From the S-612 aesthetic.

"Clever MIDI device from the 80's that produces no sound of its own, but elevates the creative possibilities for your synths that do not have a built-in arpeggiator. The 'SPEED', 'GATE TIME' and 'DYNAMICS' functionality are really what make this machine worth it, in my opinion."

"Originally there were only 200 built and nobody knows how many have survived.

This must be one of the most beautiful designs ever and only topped by the even more rare RSF Polykobol & Polykobol II

Everything works flawless and the only thing that was changed was the battery for the programs. Everything else is original.

It is actually a RSF Kobol Expander 1 with the Programmer added. You could even use an extension cable and program your Expanders, if you have them."

LamdbaSpeak 3 - Audio Playback over CPC Speaker & Serial Interface

Published on Apr 6, 2019 Michael Wessel

"LambdaSpeak 3 audio output can now also be sent back into the CPC to be played over the CPC's internal speaker, using mono SND pin of the expansion port. Hence, the final version of LambdaSpeak 3 will have 2 more DIP switches (one for left audio channel, one for right audio channel) that allow turning audio loop back on and off.

Also, the new serial mode seems to be working! LambdaSpeak 3 will have a new "serial" mode and 4 PIN headers (VCC, GND, TX, RX). In this mode, the hardware USART0 of the ATmega 644 will be used.

So far, there is a little test that initializes the USART, and then communicates with the Emic 2 speech synthesizer board on the little breadboard, connected over the 4 yellow wires (VCC, GND, TX, RX). The Emic 2 is connected to an amplifier. It uses a simple serial protocol (plain ASCII) which is being sent over the USART / serial connection. Seems to work!"

Akai S1000KB inspiration

Published on Apr 6, 2019 bitleyTM

"While the rack format was extremely popular for samplers back in the day, it must be said that having the keyboard version of the S-1000 instantly made it feel like a completely different instrument, hands on, easy to use and very fun to play. This particular S-1000 KB has been owned by the euro pop legend E-type and the diskdrive does currently not work. Therefore, I programmed three patches (that I can't save) which uses the four internal waveforms of the machine. Adding these was a brilliant move by Akai and I am sending my thanks for this. The patches were programmed as three programs with two samples per key group, thus making the programs 8 note polyphonic. The synthesizer engine may be limited (the filter is non resonant for instance) but it is none the less highly musical and exciting to befriend. I'm calling this improvised musical passage 'Akaiada'."
