"In really good shape considering its age. Very minor wear on the front and top. A couple dings in the wood sides, and one screw missing on one side.

Works perfectly except that the volume knob makes some noise when changing volume. Once it’s set, the noise is gone. It’s a pretty standard noisy knob sound, which could probably be cleaned fairly easily.

All other switches and features work perfectly.

Comes with original vintage case, which has some battle damage, but is fully intact, functional, and cool looking!"

DFAM: Three Voice Paraphony (no external patching)

"Three independent voices on the DFAM. No external patching. The initial challenge is to have two voices of independent pitch: if velocity is patched to VCO 1 CV (or VCO 2; in this example I've patched it to VCO 2), the velocity potentiometers now control the pitch (plus velocity).

VCO 1 steps were individually tuned, then VCO 2 steps were tuned to harmonise VCO 1. The independence of the voices can clearly be heard i.e VCO 2 isn't just a transposed form of VCO 1 (you'll hear various intervals, contrary motion etc), but a fully independent line.

The next challenge (and least obvious) is to create a third voice. Given the DFAM is a two-osc synth, having a third voice initially seems unlikely/impossible. But the solution is:

If self-oscillation is possible on a VCO, it is also possible without the VCO. It is more a case of: If self-oscillation is possible on a synth, the control parameter(s) determining self-oscillation can be reassigned to another parameter/act as a false carrier of the original self-oscillation patch/algorithm, i.e what is required is something else acting as carrier of/for the self-oscillation.

Patching the VCA to the External Audio line allows for this extra self-oscillation. Note that cutoff/resonance/volume all affect self-oscillation in this state, therefore adjusting these parameters will affect the pitch of the self-oscillation (as can be seen when I'm adjusting the cutoff in the second half of the video).

Granted - not a full line of paraphony - but it can certainly be considered an independent voice (i.e it is unaffected by the pitches of VCO's 1 and 2), plus the resultant three-note harmony when combined with the other two lines.

Very useful (the principle can be applied to any synth with a similar architecture).

Quite a lot of work when the parameters herein can be controlled with external modules, but adding external control removes the challenge of finding solutions within the architectural constraints of the synth (or rather, 'a' synth) as a standalone unit.

Many other possibilities with the DFAM beyond the documented scope. As with most every synth i.e ratcheting on various devices considered 'un-ratchet-able' etc.

PS reverb & delay added to the patch.

LEFT SIDE:
Mooer Ocean Machine ambient guitar pedal connected to the Bastl Instruments Thyme digital tape machine in a feedback loop. So one Ocean Machine's output goes back into its own input and the other output goes into the Thyme's input.

One of the Thyme's outputs goes back into the Ocean Machine second input and the other Thyme output finally goes into the Zoom R16 audio recorder.

Then I play with both units' audio looper and delay and reverb effects to layer a wild ambient space drone sound.

RIGHT SIDE:
Apple iPhone running the SynthScaper and Noisemusick iOS synth apps, connected to the Mooer Ocean Machine. Here I simply play sounds through the looper, delays and reverb of the guitar pedal.

"This MC202 is in brilliant condition. It is cosmetically near mint and works flawlessly. The battery compartment is completely free of corrosion and all knobs and buttons are fully responsive. The synth was recently checked over by a technician. It includes the original packaging as well as the manuals and a Roland power supply.

A hybrid of an SH101 and a TB303, the MC202 is fantastic fun with a great synth sound. This is a very reluctant sale of a great instrument. Comes from a smoke and pet free home."

"Juno 106 in pristine cosmetic condition! This synth definitely will need to be professionally serviced. Based on my research, this synth has issues that are common in all 30 year old Juno 106s that have not been serviced. A couple of immediate issues are that the 8' range, Midi Ch, Poly 2, and Key Transpose buttons are not responsive. The filter cutoff slider works once you hit the 50% mark (the bottom half of the slider has no effect). This issue is demonstrated in the video. Once the synth has been on for about 10 minutes, some keys start to be unresponsive. When the high output switch is engaged, most voices will cause a cracking sound. This issue can be resolved by using the medium output switch."
