STG Soundlabs Oscillator Now Shipping

Some nice pics in via STG Soundlabs. Their new Oscillator, two years in the making, is now shipping in both Moog MU and Eurorack format.

Here are some details on the module:

"Oscillator is an analogue relaxation core oscillator with sawtooth, triangle, and sub octave square wave outputs, and an integrated drift generator.

Oscillator’s tuning system is unique in modular synthesis. There are three controls: Range, Semitone, and Detune. Range and Semitone are stepped controls on potentiometers. Their response is best described with the following graphic: [pictured below]

The Range knob allows you to select wether Oscillator is an audio oscillator or low frequency oscillator. LFO, 32’, 16’, 8’, 4’, and 2’ are ranges most synthesists are familiar with, but the Wide mode allows you to sweep through 5 octaves with the Detune knob.

The Semitone knob sets a positive semitone offset to the oscillator and functions in all ranges. To make common values easier to get to, the root, fifth, and octave all have twice of the rotational degrees allotted to them as the other semitone values.

The Drift Generator could be described as a drunken walk, or perhaps a random wobbulator. In technical language, it is a random, in rate and peak, bipolar linear function generator with smoothing. Some people patch their entire synthesizer to do what this thing has built in! It can move veeeery slowly or squiggle very quickly. Its output is normalized to the modulation input, so it can be easily defeated by plugging a new source into the modulation jack.

This module has a physical depth of only 2 inches.

MU Price: $295, Eurorack Price: $265"

Symple Sidecar - SympleSEQ Expansion Module

Lower West Side Studio

"Lower West Side Studio introduces the Symple Sidecar an expansion module for the SympleSEQ sequencer.

The Symple Sidecar adds GATE per STEP, CLOCK OUT, RESET and HOLD CV IN capabilities to the SympleSEQ.

Follow the link for more info; https://richsstudioproject.wpcomstagi..."

"Expand the capabilities of your SympleSEQ sequencer by adding the Symple Sidecar companion module.

The Symple Sidecar connects to the SympleSEQ behind the panels via 2 patch cables (included). Once connected each sequence step outputs its GATE signal to an individual GATE output jack.

A CLOCK output is available to send either the SympleSEQ’s internal clock or to pass-through an external clock which may be controlling the sequencer.

HOLD and RESET control voltage inputs allow further sequencer control.

The Symple Sidecar is compatible with any SympleSEQ sequencers containing expansion ports on the PCB. All SympleSEQ modules produced by Lower West Side Studio contain these ports. If you are not sure if your sequencer has these ports or would like them added then please Contact Us."

Prophet Rev 2 Lead / Moog Sub Phatty Bass - Sunday Synth Jam

"New Sunday Synth Jam! 🌊
This jam was one of the results from a recent jam session with my good buddy Daaf. We had a blast with all the synths fired up and ready to go and made three new pieces of work 💪
I used the mod wheel from the Sub Phatty to modulate Omnisphere + some other pad layers. After that, in comes the bass from the Sub Phatty itself and I quickly switched over to the Prophet Rev 2 to lay down the lead. Let me know what you think of this one! 🤗"

PM Foundations Chorus

Randy Piscione

"This is a demo of the PM Foundations Chorus Eurorack module. You can get it here: This module generates six copies of the input saw wave, each out of phase with the original and with each other. The phase differences are continually changing using six internal trapezoid oscillators. This effect replicates six VCOs tuned closely together to generate a rich, dynamic super saw wave. This module is a tribute to David Ward-Hunt who designed a waveform multiplier unit that was subsequently included in the Digisound-80 synthesizer"

The DIY Strings/Choir-Synthesizer 3.0 Demo

Andreas Remshagen

"This is the second Modification of my DIY Strings/Choir-Synthesizer
You hear 15 different Sound-examples repeating the same theme
- Please write in the comments which is your favorite!
Each Strings-Group from the four Groups has its own CV-1V/Oct in
and each is connected to one CV-out of a Polyend Poly2. So there is a
4-voice-Polyphony playable over a PC or a MIDI-keyboard. I added a
Gate-in that is connected to the poly2's first gate-out. The gate in drives
a variable Attack-Release for the whole Strings.
one Oscillator in each Strings-Group is tuned one Octave higher
for a larger sound
The Effects i used are a
modified behringer Vintage-Phaser (i'll explain in my next vid) and a
Yamaha FX-500.
the Settings of the FX-500 are:

REV + MOD on,

REV: TYP: DLY, MIX: 50, LVL: +1, L-DLY: 150.0, R-DLY: 300.0, FB: 1, L=R

MOD: TYP: SYM, SPED: 0.7, DEP: 80, MIX: 90, LVL: +5

The Attack-Release cirquit i took from Ray Wilsons Noise-Toaster
The VCA circuit comes from YuSynths site
The full description of the Strings-Synth you'll find in the first Strings-Synth

See the Remshagen label below for more.

"Short and straightforward electro track demonstrating the ARP2600FS, the GRP Synth A4 and the Analog Rytm Mk1.

All synths/drumbox are processed through the ARP2600FS (the AR being overdriven by the ARP preamp). Sequenced by the GRP A4 sequencer.

Not any single outboard FX, nor plug-in used. What you hear is what comes from the ARP2600FS, because summing is done within the ARP2600FS."

Best Ambient Synth Shootout #98: Alesis S4 QuadraSynth - Song 3

Christian's Sonic Spaces

"This is the third song with the S4 QuadraSynth. It's a 64 voice 16-part multitimbral ROM-based synthesizer from the early 90s.

I used for the recording the following FX chain:
S4 QuadraSynth - Digitech Obscura - Pigtronix Echolution 2 Deluxe - GFI System Specular Reverb 2. Depending on the recorded track some FX are deactivated.

The signal went through a Presonus StudioLive 16.0.2 into the PC via USB for recording. To create the complete song I recorded consecutively several stereo tracks. The final song was then mastered with a bit EQ and compression on some tracks and some limiting on the master track."

Critter & Guitari - GardenerPops (Organelle x Bastl softPop)

Critter & Guitari

Download Constant Gardener here:
The @Bastl Instruments softPop is a fun analog synth that makes some wild tones. We thought it would be a good idea to transpose those tones with Constant Gardener, a vocoder patch for the Organelle. Using the 'dry/wet' control, we blended the transpositions with the original sound and found harmony.

"Increasingly rare Flower Electronics Little Boy Blue, this being the black version. It is completely standard, just a different coloured case. It is in excellent original condition...

2 voltage controlled ramp (sawtooth) oscillators
1/4" input with variable gain
envelope follower with optional inverter
2 channel mixer
intermodulating output stage
powder-coated aluminum case
single 9V battery
power automatically disconnected when output cable is unplugged
The LBB Standard runs on a single 9V battery, and the current drain is low. Disconnecting the output cable shuts off the power. The circuitry is hand-built with premium parts, using discrete transistors, no chips. Input and output are via standard 1/4" connectors. Output is a hot line level, for extra buzz."

Quasimidi Quasar

via this auction

Quasimidi Quasar MASS / Rare Synth Module Made in Germany 1993. Rack Mount Synthesizer

the Quasimidi Quasar is in full working order, there are marks to the casing as can be seen on the photos,

The volume pot is a little bit scratchy when turning the volume knob.

The Quasar from Quasimidi is a rack-mounted digital synthesiser module which was released in 1993. A synth that was satisfying to the Techno crowds of the day and also General MIDI friendly.

The presets and drum sounds eschewed the typical General Midi specification, which was in vogue at the time, in favour of electronic and trance techno styles. The Quasar included an arpeggiator, which was an unusual feature in 1993.

Largely a sample based machine with limited editing capabilities but enough to play with among it's 1,000 samples available for tweaking.

The synthesizer also features a robust set of effects from Chorus, vibrator to delays, reverbs, and vocoder effects. -- Modular 2019

" modular system. Barely used. This is a walnut Studio 44 from with two custom built pine Studio 22 cabinets. There are 2 power supplies as I expanded into the third cabinet. It comes with the cables typically supplied with a new Studio 44). The photos are what it comes with but I am trying to include a list as well. Sorry for typos. The top cabinet also has a LED light strip as seen in the images.

Yamaha CS40M SN 2785

via this auction

"The synthesizer was serviced by VG-Line (Russian factory that specializes on production of analog synthesizers, e.g. Polivoks, and repair of vintage synths). The repair affected the details of the power supply, so the synthesizer is powered now by a 220 volt outlet. The repair did not affected the original Yamaha details of sound processing, so the synthesizer sounds the same as it did 40 years ago."

E-MU Systems Emulator Three Keyboard (OLED Screen + 8GB HD) SN 0790256 w/ Colored Buttons

via this auction

This one was listed minus upgrades back in 2014.

"Near perfect condition. Perfect working condition. Has original working 3.5" floppy drive AND bootable 8GB HD (splittable in eight 1GB BOOTABLE HD) via SD card. So you can boot with the SD card or the floppy disk drive. Upgraded with blue OLED screen and two new super quiet cooling fans. I also upgraded with front push buttons colors for a more comprehensive view IMHO. If the original black buttons are desired, they can easily be switched back to black. All keys on the keyboard are very smooth and function perfect as do all of the front switches and sliders. The "E III" logo on the back and all front lettering and text is flawless with no scratches. In fact, this complete E3 machine is in near perfect condition. All 16 voices function properly with no errors."

ROLAND SH-1000 Analog Synthesizer 1973 | HD DEMO

(c) 2020 by AnalogAudio1

I played the Roland SH-100 with reverb effects from the Lexicon MPX-500 and delay effects from the Korg SDD-3000.

The Roland SH-1000 is a monophonic synth with presets, but apart from that it is freely programmable. It has a great analog tone!
