Roland System 8 does acid: A TB-303 style adventure

video upload by MIDERA

"I don't have a Roland TB-303, but I guess I always wanted one. Somehow while messing around with the Jupiter 8 plug-out tonight, I made this sound that felt like it could have come from a TB-303... well, maybe not? I don't know. Seemed close enough to me.

Then I decided to throw a beat on top of it. Then I decided to add another bass line with the SH-101, and then I just decided to make some other things to go along with it and well - this is the boring track I came up with just to show off the Roland System 8 doing acid.

Spectralis 2 - Sequencing
Elektron Machinedrum MKII - Drums
Virus TI - Pads
Roland SH-101 - Bass
Sequential Prophet 10 - keys
Roland System 8 - TB-303 ish sound

Eventide Blackhole VST on most parts."

Waldorf Quantum Split mode Demo - This synth sounds great

"Waldorf Quantum Split mode Demo - This synth sounds great

Quantum in split mode. No samples were used and everything was recorded live without any external processing. This is an answer to people saying that this synth sounds poor :)

Thank you !

Fenix II D

video upload by splitradix

"A new version of the Fenix II called the Fenix II D
This version uses CEM3340s for the oscillators and has a slightly different BBD delay as well as a built in power supply.

All synth sounds are from the Fenix II D (dry at the start and then with some delay and reverb from an Eventide H8000).
Drums from a TR909.
Small bit of compression from an API 2500.
Fenix II D sequenced by the Fenix III with the Cirklon helping out and the SND ACME as the master clock."

Moog Polymoog 280A and Roland JX3P synth Jam for Jamuary 14 2022

video upload by

"Todays little melody had me pull out some of my old favorites. The JX3P was my first synth I purchased back in 1999 with the programmer and a hard case for only 200 bucks! How times have changed. Somehow I still think its underrated in the world of synth music, it really is that classic roland sound. The Polymoog 280A is definitely one of the more interesting synths I own, traded for it some 5 years ago for a guitar. My logic was there's way more guitars made than Polymoogs, and while it doesn't do as much as the 203 for the Vox Humana setting alone its worth it.
For some reason a lot of my jams this month seem to go towards an eerie chord progression. I don't know why? In any case I had fun making up this little melody and I hope you like it."

Roland JD-08 Ambient Improvisation

video upload by Martin Stรผrtzer

"I got the new Roland JD-08 synthesizer. It is modeled after the JD800 which I had in my setup years ago. In this improvisation I am using four audio tracks with the "Looper" device of Ableton Live. I can control the Looper and volume with the Midi fighter Twister. Each vertical line of four knobs controls one track. All patches were designed by myself. Effects are Valhalla DSP Delay and Valhalla DSP Vintage Verb."

"Here's an interesting one-of-a-kind synth. We bought this from a customer who was into DIY electronics. He always admired the design of the ARP 2500 but couldn't find one, so he built his own! Well, kind of. He bought MFOS Music From Outer Space circuit boards and assembled the circuits. He made his own front panels to look similar to those on the arp2500 and wired them up. They're installed in a nice wooden cabinet he made as well.

This system is a real pleasure to play. If it doesn't sell, we're going to use it in our studio as a secret weapon, as it sounds great and quite different from our other synths.

Initially part of some experiments feeding the prophet 10 into the modular, this piece paired so well with some mostly bare trees in the wind ๐ŸŒฟ

The Prophet is fed into the modular, through Monsoon (Clouds), and through the Strymon Magneto. A little Meris Polymoon is also sprinkled on top. This performance has no mixing effects ITB, only a bit of mastering.

POLYBRUTE 80s FUNK! (no talking)

video upload by Jeremy Parker

"As promised from my Arturia POLYBRUTE review, I've been making more sounds and have just upgraded to the version 2.0 firmware to allow some new cool possibilities. This original song, 'Boombox Slide', is inspired by the 1980's funk style of Prince, Cameo, Janet Jackson, Morris Day and the Time, etc. The song actually started right after I made one of the new sounds featured here, "Haywire", which itself was inspired from the keyboardist of the same name. All of the sounds, with the exception of "VHS Keys", were programmed by me and were very fun to create on the Polybrute. Enjoy!"

Relaxing Improv w/Tape Loop, Soft Synth, & Kaossilator [Jamuary #2]

video upload by Poorness Studios

"For the second Jamuary (Fridays in January) session, I used a tape loop (played on my Sony TCM-200DV w/ pitch control), Alchemy soft synth (controlled by my Oxygen25), and the KORG KO-1 Kaossilator. I'm pretty happy with the result. Special thanks to Marc from The Void Electronics for providing the awesome cassette.

PAIA 4700 MODULAR Analog Synthesizer

"Paia was always a cost-effective alternative to the pricey modular synths of the 70s. They were often sold as kits so were very popular among DIY synth people and electronics hobbyists. The beauty of Paia gear is that it's very simple and most if not all of the parts are still readily available from electronics suppliers. Paia gear sounds like nothing else. Its got a certain low-fidelity sound to it, but thats a major part of its charm. If you're new to vintage modular synths and want a real one but are on a limited budget, this may be a good place to start. Of course if you already own Paia gear, this would probably make a very nice expansion to your current system. This stuff is hard to find when you want it, so buy now before it's gone.

This system needs work and is being sold as-is. When we first got it, it wasn't working, so our tech replaced some caps in the power supply. Once he powered it up, he determined it had other problems that needed fixing, but tech time is limited and we need to focus on higher valued items. Since most people into Paia gear are also into DIY electronics and enjoy restoration projects, we decided to sell this system as is. Please don't buy it if you're not prepared to fix it or know someone who can fix it for you.

This system includes the folllowing components:

"Comes with Roland memory cartridge, Roland expression pedal, and original power cable.

PG-800 comes with the extremely rare original carry case and the original midi cable.

The JX shows minor signs of use and wear cosmetically (surface swirls/light scratches), overall extremely clean and very well taken care of. Same for the PG-800.

This is a one owner set. He owned a studio and kept original boxes for everything and took great care of all of his equipment."

Roland System 100M Synthesizer Module 110 - VCO / VCF / VCA SN 131714

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.

via this auction, also on Reverb

"This module contains all the elements of a single synth voice. The audio signal paths from the VCO to VCF to VCA are all made internally, as are the keyboard and EG inputs to the VCF and VCA. These connections can be overridden by inserting a jack into the relevant socket. A few features are missing, but that's not surprising, considering the module's 4X9‑inch size."

Introducing MCFx2 - Dual State Variable Filter - ALM030

video upload by ALM TV

"The MCFx2 is our state variable ‘MCF’ filter made double. It features 2 identical classic analog 3 pole filter cores each with Low, High and Band Pass (or Notch) outputs. Direct and voltage control is provided for both filter cut offs and resonance.

Two switches allow the filters to function as one, with the ‘Feed’ switch internally routing audio from one filter to the other in series and the ‘Link’ switch linking the cut off controls for both filter cores.

MCFx2 expands on the great sounding MCF filter (previously available only as part of the System Coupe) to offer both serial and parallel functionality for stereo operation, dual peak, tighter slopes and other complex filtering set ups.

Ginko Synthese - Seeds VCO

video upload by John Schussler

"There don't seem to be many videos on the Ginko Synthese Seeds VCO, so
I figured I'd do a general overview.

It's not fancy. With an underpowered CPU (8 bit, 16 MHz Arduino Nano), it's not high fidelity. But what it lacks in crystal clear sound it makes up for in character.

There are 9 modes. In theory it can run as either a free-running VCO with an
external gate/VCA, or as a voice with its own internal gate/VCA. I built this one, and apparently screwed something up because it doesn't do the free-running mode. I'll have to ask about that.

Nothing else here but the Seeds and a little reverb at the end. Except for the last part where I add some chorus and filtering to try and tame the noise….

00:00 Intro
00:20 0: The original "Grains" formant peaks
02:14 1: Tri wave w/ asymmetrical wave-wrapping
03:42 2: Super-saw with PWM
05:10 3: Classic FM
07:20 4: Saw-wave with hard sync
08:30 5: Phase-distortion
09:56 6: Tuned noise
11:11 7: Square wave with PWM
12:30 8: Ring mod
14:00 With chorus and some filtering"
