Behringer's Synth Building Platform & New DX7 FM Synth In the Works?

The following was shared by Behringer. Sounds like modeling technology. Note the 6-Op FM algorhythm on the screen. Classic DX7.

"Some days ago we posted the image of our new synth platform. And now the baby has come alive:-) Nothing is more exciting for engineers to design a product over several months, receive the first prototype and fire it up. As you can see our platform is working perfectly and the engineers are already writing firmware for the next synths.

This will be the beginning of a super exciting series of hybrid synths, so powerful that it can run the most complex algorithms as well as several synths in parallel. The key bed here is designed around our proprietary capacitive sense technology, that is much more sensitive and playable than commercially available technology. This is one of the many reasons why we’re so excited about these innovative platforms and building blocks, as they form the foundation for our new generation of disruptive synthesis products. Perhaps in the future we can write firmware that allows you to customize these synths to your preferences.

We use very sophisticated simulation tools, that allow us to test the complete system in a virtual environment, way before the actual hardware is built. This is called “Digital Twin” engineering and we have heavily invested in this technology - all with the purpose to improve the design quality, speed up time to market and save cost. You’ll find similar technology in the aeronautics and automotive industry and our key technology partner is Siemens. “Digital Twin” simulation includes functional and mechanical, temperature, EMC (Electro-Magnetic Compliance) and Safety performance, as well as BOM (Bill Of Material) cost management. This whole process has increased efficiency of up to 600% for all our 350 global engineers."

Serge Modular Patch Quick Reference

This one is in via supporting member ty hodson.

"I'm finally in the process of mining the notes and patch suggestions from various sources, but mostly from the old Yahoo! Serge group and later the (still sorely missed) Quad Slope group. The biggest chunk of those old notes was kindly provided to me by cebec, for which I'm grateful.

I started a spreadsheet to make it easy to quickly look up various patches. My aim was (is) to keep it as concise as possible in order to quickly find the info for patching up a particular function."

You can find the full post on ty's website, Serge Modular Synthesizer Info.

Introducing NiftyKEYZ - from Cre8audio

video uploads by Cre8audio

And a video from Patchwerks:

NiftyKEYZ Makes Eurorack Polyphony Easier video upload by Patchwerks

"In this video Tom and Matthew form Patchwerks share an overview and demo of the new NiftyKeyz by Cre8audio. Demo includes a demonstration on building a 4-voice polyphonic synthesizer in eurorack format.

Learn more about the NiftKEYZ here: https://www.patchwerks.com

From Cre8audio:
'More than just a full-sized 49 key keyboard (with aftertouch), NiftyKEYZ has a whole load of space for a pile of whatever eurorack format modules you want to toss into it. All told, NiftyKEYZ has 112hp of available module space and its newly designed power supply provides 1500mA +12v, 1000mA -12v, and 1000mA +5v power. Stuff NiftyKEYZ with modules and you’ll have a franken-synth that’s only limit is the bounds of your imagination (or lack thereof).

So having 4 voices that you can assign willy nilly in your own Frankensynth is super cool, but we thought you wouldn’t want us to stop there! NiftyKEYZ also has a multi-mode arpeggiator that syncs to an external clock as well as NiftyKEYZ’s internal clock.

Speaking of clock, NiftyKEYZ can easily divide incoming clock to your heart’s content, as well as generate its own kicking pulse. Perfect as the center of your system or just being a part of it.

Pretty Mod right? Speaking of Mod, NiftyKEYZ’s modwheel can send constant voltage, allowing you to modulate like a mad person. Additionally, you can toggle the modwheel into LFO mode where now the modwheel will control the depth of clock-synced LFO with 5 fantastic user-selectable shapes.

We’ve only begun to scratch the surface. We haven’t even started to go on about the autochord, sequencing, expression I/O, velocity, and oh yea, there’s aftertouch too!!!!!'

The press release w/ specs:

Introducing NiftyKEYZ - Eurorack case and keyboard!

Tuesday, April 19th, 2022, Cre8audio introduced NiftyKEYZ a eurorack friendly, utility packed case with an integrated full-sized 49key synth-action MIDI controller keyboard.

NiftyKEYZ melds a utility packed eurorack format modular synthesizer case into a modern MIDI controller keyboard, enabling users to configure their own “dream synth” out of eurorack format components/modules.

Configure your keyz…

Designed to bring the fun and flexibility of the eurorack modular synthesizer format to keyboard instruments, NiftyKEYZ provides an ample canvass for users that want to get creative with synthesizer their own configurations & modular synthesis manifested in keyboard form.

Much more than a eurorack case with a MIDI controller attached to it, NiftyKEYZ sets out to redefine the idea of what a synthesizer keyboard can be.

NiftyKEYZ first and foremost offers keyboard & MIDI control over 4 CV + Gate outs. NiftyKEYZ’s MIDI implementation enables the use of each of its 4 CV + Gate outs as either a part of a fully patchable polyphonic instrument or on their own monophonically. Additionally, each voice can be split across multiple MIDI zones on the keyboard. For example, it is possible to create a 4 voice polyphonic instrument or a 3 voice instrument in part of the keyboard range, while splitting another voice into a monophonic instrument elsewhere. The possibilities just begin there.

NiftyKEYZ also has a plethora of powerful performance functions that add expressivity and flexibility. These include a multi-mode arpeggiator, multi-mode clock synced LFO, aftertouch, velocity, sustain/latch mode, internal clock, expression out, and much more. All of these performance features are tied to CV outs, providing an unprecedented amount of modulation and control possibilities. Adding dimensions of depth to instruments is easy.

NiftyKEYZ’s CV & audio capabilities don't end with its performance capabilities. Users will appreciate the integrated 2x buffered mults as well as the 2x outputs and headphone out with dedicated controls.

Beyond NiftyKEYZ’s modular synthesis capabilities, it is also a very capable USB and 5 pin Din MIDI controller and device. It can not only take midi in from computers and external MIDI devices but also send MIDI back out to control them. Use NiftyKEYZ to control software-based instruments, other MIDI instruments, and/or let it be sequenced from DAWs, MIDI controllers, and sequencers. It's all possible!

AQUA 無限水 / KITARO 喜多郎 COVER

video upload by ltpstan

"AQUA, another good piece to demonstrate Kitaro's signature sound from the miniKORG 700S/FS.

Inspiration came from the recent live recording of Kitaro. One of the thoughts and observations is that, AQUA has been in played many times live by Kitaro since the 1980s. Possibly, it is one of the pieces Kitaro likes performing.

One of the feelings I have noticed is that, AQUA has alot of mysterious elements, in a way of the chord progression. It is also one of the Kitaro pieces that allows much more emotional expressiveness through the melodies.

The initial release from 'Oasis' album has a rather straight tone but over the years of re-covers by Kitaro, this song has evolved to become more expressive than the first initial release.

In this cover, I chose the 'Harp' sound and the Squar-ish sound from different variations of AQUA. Keeping some of the familiar melodies of AQUA with variation and improvisation. improvisation is something I try to always work on.

Today's playing had a few dexterity issues."

You can find demos of the Synkey in previous posts here. There's also an orange accent model.

"Rare as all hens teeth! The EML Synkey punch card synth! Supposedly only 47 were made with the punch card reader!"

The portamento pot needs replacing, the aftertouch also needs adjustment at the keybed, this is a fairly easy procedure and hopefully I can get it done before I ship but can also send documentation on how to do it.

This is the same Oscillator, Filter and Ring Mod included on the EML 101, the Ring Mod is amazing, out of this world and hands down the best ring mod I've ever heard!

The SynKey is a classic programmable polyphonic synthesizer with plenty of unique features. Its sounds are thick and analog. It has thirteen oscillators! That is, one for the primary tone and twelve more for higher semi-tones, each of which are easily accessed by a simple on/off button. You can turn on or off any of the oscillators you wish, and no tuning is necessary! The oscillators only generate square waves and though the synth itself is monophonic, the SynKey is still one fat sounding synth. Its new 'Second touch' is like Aftertouch which gives you filter sweeps, vibrato and pitch bends by pressing harder on the key."

"We fully refurbished this Sonic Six. This was an investment of 29 hours of skilled vintage synth tech time. There's a huge difference between the working condition of this instrument and most of the others that are out there. Ours works perfectly and is a pleasure to play, no excuses. It tracks the keyboard well, which is more than we can say for most others you might find. This unit was fully disassembled and cleaned inside and out. The keyboard bushings were removed and replaced with brand new ones. The key guides were adjusted. All contacts were properly cleaned. All keys were removed and cleaned. Key heights and spacing were adjusted. Some keys were polished. Some screws were replaced with new ones. Replaced all electrolytic capacitors. Cleaned and lubed all potentiometers and switches. Cleaned all jacks. Replaced jack nuts and washers. Replaced trimpots. Recalibrated. Justifiably priced higher than the lesser examples being sold by amateurs who didnt invest nearly 30 hours restoring theirs to work like new again."

MFB Kraftzwerg II

"mfb-kraftzwerg ii is the semi-modular version of mfb's synth-ii. it trades memory locations and midi-control off for 40 patch connectors that allow breaking and modifying the internal routing. put single kraftzwerg ii components under analog sequencer control or let the whole unit interact with your existing modular-synthesizer-system.

mfb-kraftzwerg ii works as a stand-alone synthesizer without the need to patch any cable. the classic formation of vco-vcf-vca is pre-wired internally, complete with essential modulations. therefore, you can play the kraftzwerg iijust like any other synthesizer using its midi-input. in addition, it may integrate into a full analog environment using control voltages and benefit, unlike midi, from infinite continuous parameter resolution.

mfb-kraftzwerg ii offers a complete set for powerful and versatile synthesis: three vcos with hard-sync, 24-db-lowpass-filter with resonance, noise generator, ring-modulator, two envelope-generators, two lfos and vca. technically and soundwise kraftzwerg ii is identical to mfb's euro-rack-modules. however, the mfb-kraftzwerg ii comes in a compact format that is easy to take with you and faster in use. your ideal analog partner on stage!

different between kraftzwer and mkii,
new case, glide poti, sync lfo1 and lfo 2 positiv, lfo2 has oneshot function, the temperature of the vco's are controlled by microprozessor, 24 db sed filter instead of cascadenfilter."
