E-mu Systems Modular 2023 Patch Demo

video upload by Silicon Breakdown

"E-mu Modular system recorded 6/5/2023. This video shows how 3 sounds are combined into to one using the mixer on the E-mu Modular. Each voice has 2-3 oscillators patched to a filter or two, an ADSR controlling a VCA that is then sent to the output mixer.

I am riding the mixer 2 channel that has the Sample and hold patched to control the frequency of a Low pass filter to add more of this channel as the sound develops.

Adding separate sounds that have their own oscillators, different ADSR and different filters as well as separate modulation to the filters you can create evolving sounds that have lots of depth.

LFOs, Drums & Craziness! Wobbler2 from This Is Not Rocket Science

video upload by DivKid

"This video was meant to be a quick exploration of the new drum mode but then you get making music and that inspires more music and then you find some fairly crazy interesting behaviour and well … you have to dive in right? Well I do!

So here we have a fulsome look at the Wobbler2 from This Is Not Rocket Science which has all the same LFO features as the original Wobbler (see my original Wobbler video below for a thorough run down of all things wibbly wobble LFO) plus a whole new drum mode. The video comes in four parts (see the chapter markings below) with a quick exploration of the LFO mode, then a deep look at both the drum synthesis and sample playback then we get into beat making and pushing the drum modes before delving into a wild world of drum drones, weird filters (not a filter, but you can think of it like one), hard sync VCO like behaviours and wavetable style tonal morphs!"

DIY Farfisa analog triple chorus / ensemble FX

video upload by ohm_studi_ohm

"Quick demo of a custom made ensemble FX box based on a Farfisa analog Bucket Brigade Device triple chorus. Basically it's the ensemble fxfrom the Farfisa Synthorchestra 4.
Introduced by Eminent in their Solina String Ensemble, the triple chorus is what makes in most part for that luscious string machine sound typical of the 70s, and these fx have been built in all the major string synthesizers, from the italian ones (Crumar, Logan, Elka etc) to the Japanese ones (Roland RS 505, Korg Poly Ensemble etc), and to the american ones (Arp Omnis, Moog Opus 3 etc) with minor differences in design.
As you can hear you can turn any synth sound in a gorgeous string sound.

I built unit like these from time to time so if you’re interested in buying one get in touch."

10 mins of Buchla Modular Synth, Looping & Vocals 🚀⚡️GSG SYNTHON 3 Year Anniversary Special

video upload by The Galaxy Electric

"Full video performance available inside THE VORTEX for VOYAGER VIP & COUNCIL Members Only:

Fun patching with the Buchla inspired 200 series system. We used a combo of modules but some of the stars of the show were the 259 Programmable Complex Waveform Generator. We have the1979 Stereo Microsound Processor getting a lot of love (Mutable Instruments Clouds based). We're usually sampling either bits of cassette tape recordings or the radio. This is the module's strong suit. Very deep vibes in deep space, this one. Don't forget to come back....or not...

Big thanks to our friends and fellow artists the Golden Shrimp Guild for the opportunity and venue for this lovely experience."

Roland OP-8 New Old Stock in Original Box

via this auction

"Roland OP-8 module NEW in its factory box. Opened just to take the pictures, but everithing inside was left closed in its plastic envelope, to let the buyer/collector be the first.

Included also its brand new and sealed Roland original DCB Cable and factory instruction manual, as it came from the factory in 1981.

Roland OP-8 is a CV to DCB interface, designed to control Roland polyphonic synthesizers equipped with DCB via the Roland MC-4 Microcomposer, but it works with any other standard CV/GATE Analog Sequencer. It has also multiples allowing creative possibilities.

Roland OP-8 can control the Roland Jupiter 8 cut-off frequency of the VCF and the level of the VCA (expression control)"

Q105 Patch Tutorial

video upload by synthesizersdotcom

"We are working on a series of patch tutorials to get people started with their new rigs!

What do you think of the format of the video? Let us know how we can make it better!

A quick video showing a simple Q105 Slew Limiter patch.

The Q105 Slew Limiter is used to limit the change in a signal.
This function is sometimes referred to as 'Glide', 'Glissando', 'Lag Processing', or 'Portamento'.
The amount of limitation is set by a front panel control.
Use the Slew Limiter as a portamento control by routing the keyboard's pitch control voltage through the Limiter then to an oscillator.
Use the Slew Limiter as an 'AR' (Attack, Release) envelope generator by patching in a square wave from the keyboard gate, oscillator or sequencer to control an amplifier or filter.
A switch selects which edge is limited - rising, falling or both.
A manual push button allows the operator to disable the module's function and a jack provides a way to enable/disable using an external signal or a foot switch (useful for portamento control).
An LED indicator shows enabled/disabled status."

Joranalogue Audio Design PIVOT 2 / extensive playthrough / a clever routing and chain utility

video upload by BRiES

"In this video about PIVOT 2 by Joranalogue Audio Design I go over the basic functionality of the module first, before diving into applications such as voltage controlled panning, crossfading, or using PIVOT 2 as a (ducking) VCA for both audio and CV.

PIVOT 2 is a very dense module that packs a lot of functionality into just 4HP. Understanding the signal flow can be a bit challenging sometimes so for this video I chose a very methodical and perhaps clinical approach. I hope my video helps you get an idea whether PIVOT 2 is something you want or need in your system.

I'm a bit biased when it comes to Joranalogue Audio Design. Not only were they the first to 'give me a break' to doing videos about their modules, but probably more important is how these modules are conceptualised... something about it really gels with the way I approach modular systems. It's the 'patch programmability', the perfectionism, the quality and the well designed controls that make all the difference to me."
