Introducing the KORG multi/poly Synthesizer

video upload by Korg

Priced at $899.99 USD. Check with dealers on the right for availability.

"The KORG multi/poly synthesizer, inspired by the legendary Mono/Poly, blends the rich, classic warmth of analog sound with cutting-edge digital flexibility. Powered by KORG's next-generation analog modeling technology, it offers a unique mix-and-match multi-synthesis approach, allowing you to combine parameters from classic analog synths like oscillators, filters, envelopes, and portamentos, providing endless creative possibilities for sound designers and musicians alike.

Its Virtual Voice Cards recreate the nuanced characteristics of analog synths, such as Pitch Drift, while advanced modulation options like Layer Rotate (round-robin with Programs), Kaoss Physics (pad gestures for modulation), and Motion Sequencing 2.0 (complex per-voice motion with multi-lanes) enable deep, immersive sound design. Building on the legacy of the Mono/Poly, the multi/poly delivers big, dynamic sounds with modular-derived experimental features, offering an unmatched sound experience that bridges the best of vintage and modern synthesis, pushing the boundaries of sonic exploration.

"Amazing analog sounds that only digital can provide

Inspired by the legendary KORG Mono/Poly, the new KORG multi/poly analog modeling synthesizer delivers breathtaking analog sounds combined with extraordinary digital power and flexibility.

The original Mono/Poly boasted an unusually rich sound from its four stacked oscillators, as well as unique, experimental features like flexible x-mod and sync routing and round-robin oscillator triggering. Previously only attainable in large modular systems, the Mono/Poly delivered these features in a compact, user-friendly instrument.

"Interesting old film detailing advancements in computer/digital technology, featuring the 'Graphic 1' computer system at Bell Telephone Laboratories.

Includes scenes of:
*Digital musical composition
*Electronic circuit design utilising a digital pen
*Digital movie production
*3D simulation of orbiting satellite
*Conversion of pictures to mosaics composed of tiny images
*Digital voice modulation

The Bell Labs 'Graphic 1' computer system consisted of a Digital Equipment Corporation 'PDP-5' computer coupled with input devices such as the 'Type 370' light pen and Teletype Corporation 'Teletype Model 33' keyboard, married to a Digital Equipment Corporation 'Type 340' precision incremental display backed by 36-bit Ampex 'RVQ' buffer memory capable of storing 4096 'words'. The resolution on the monitor was 1024×1024.

This system was designed to transform the graphics-based input into output to be fed into a IBM '7094' (200 Kflop/s). The entire thing was attached to a microfilm-based recorder - the Stromberg Carlson 'SC 4020', which took hours to read and record the data."

Phase Engineering LEQ-5 - Additional Details & Pics

You can find a demo of the LEQ-5 here.

via Innerclock Systems

"The LEQ-5 is a specialised five-band inductor EQ module crafted to enhance the 'sweet spots‘ across the bass spectrum. The design incorporates high-quality components that provide exceptional performance using genuine custom-wound ‘tuned’ inductor coils generating a wide sonic pallet and focused tone shaping with + / - 15dB of gain and attenuation on each band.

Features
* Five band induction-coil EQ tailored for low / low-mid frequency signal processing.
* Low and High frequency shelves.

Package Contents
* LEQ-5 Bass Equaliser module.
* 16-pin to 10-pin Euro-rack ribbon power cable.

Connecting the LEQ-5
Typically we would suggest inserting the LEQ-5 at the end of the audio signal path keeping the input signal level low enough to allow for the cumulative output signal gain possible.

Shelving EQ

Separate LF and HF shelving.

Inductive EQ

The use of inductors in equalisation circuitry has a rich history going back to the 1950s. Inductors can be found in the signal path of many high end vintage recording consoles, outboard EQ, bass and guitar amplification and effects pedals."

CRB Elettronica OBERON ..Ladies and collectors: this is an unique opportunity to get in your hands this beautiful exemplar in incredibly clean conditions and special FIRST model produced with blank 'zero' serial of the 3 or 4 existing, this is awesome! Perfect working, exceptional deign. Inside is intact, top build quality, each pcb in its slot.. clean, incredibly like new! The five panel lamps are still the originals. Sound is special, awesome vco's and filters, A.M. Synthesis (left side on the bottom panel) is unique and a special feature that offer a sort of additional Harmonic Generators.. It's so incredible that in the late 70s such a high-performance synthesizer was conceived. Working voltage 220 volts, standard european voltage.

"Rare ARP Quadra in near mint condition.Serviced and working perfectly. Runs on 240V power. Arp Quadras were famously used by Tony Banks Genesis and John Carpenter. Im based in Bristol and arrange delivery to UK and Internationally. Heres some info from about this classic synth on Vintage Synth explorer... The Quadra is pretty much a hybrid version of ARP's Omni II and Solus synths. It's a four-section synthesizer consisting of a Bass synth, Poly synth, Lead synth, and String synth. It is quite good at emulating each of these sounds and can function in any of its four modes at a time with the ability of layering the different sections! Sounds you create in any of the four sections are instantly recalled from memory by the push of a button! There are 16 program patches for storing your sounds. Other major features are the incredible phase shifter, tons of balanced audio outputs for each section, dual portamento controls and a superior arpeggiator...that's pretty good for 1978! On the downside, it has a fragile mylar front panel, very limited programability and a weird feature that autotunes the keys to play weird intervals. The Bass synth section is monophonic and can be programmed to occupy the lower two octaves of the Quadra's 5-octave 61-note keyboard. The bass sounds pretty good and has 16' and 8' presets each for Electric and String Bass sections. The string section is based on the Omni II String synth. It sounds excellent and implements a phase-shift effect that is sort-of like a chorusing effect that thickens its already great string sound. In Polyphonic synth mode there are more effects available such as sample-n-hold and the phase-shifter. String and Poly Synth sections have 8' and 4' Polyphonic Waveform Generators each along with a preset called Hollow Waveform. In Lead synth mode the Quadra becomes a two voice screamer with aftertouch sensitivity in the upper octaves of the keyboard! It's duophonic (like the Odyssey). Get a bass sequence going, switch over to another section and play along! The Quadra is a synthesizer well suited to live performance use and has been used by 808 State, ELO, Genesis, The Human League, Pink Floyd, New Order, Nick Rhodes (Duran Duran), Joe Zawinul, and film-maker John Carpenter."

"A really excellent condition Memorymoog Plus. It looks so good I was tempted to call it near mint, but maybe that is pretty hard to say of something that is 40 years old. If I were scoring it out of 10 it would be 8.5. It is seriously gorgeous. It plays beautifully as well. I'd forgotten what a fantastically well designed control surface this has, and how easy it is to tweak sounds. One or two program slots seem to be blank, but nearly all the ones I tried contain well use-able sounds which can of course be altered and saved to your taste. Mono mode is awesome too. Such a solid synth and solid sound. The only thing we didn't test is the sequencer - I''ve never owned a Plus and couldn't remember how to get it to work. This amazing machine is so much more than a one-trick pony. Really delightful. Currently 110V, so you'll need a decently powerful transformer to use it in UK /Europe etc.. It has an old but solid flightcase which would be sort of OK for personal delivery, gigging or storage - but not couriering, so we will put it as another lot (28214). Actually we hadn't realise how ropy the foam was getting - so bad that it shed bits onto the synth which we missed when photographing! VEMIA will make a custom carton for safe shipping: 24GBP."

Muro Box-N40 Standard, Continuum, Osmose and Onde

video upload by Christophe Duquesne

"Muro Box-N40 Standard music box track with an Onde from La Voix du Luthier, a Continuum and an Eagan Matrix Module from Haken Audio and an Osmose from Expressive E The N40 is an enhanced version of the N20, the main additional feature being a chromatic scale and internal piezo microphone, both being huge improvements !

The Muro Box-N40 s controlled via MIDI by a Korg SV1.

The voice is built from and analysis of the voice of Khatija Rahman and resynthesised by the Continuum. The pitch and shimmer effect on the Murobox are done by an Eagan Matrix Module. Both are done thanks to the new 10.40 features of the Eagan Matrix.

The murobox is recorded with 3 internal piezo and an IQ7 microphone. The piezo are connected to a small preamp (TubeMP from ART, but multiple others will work). The output of the preamp goes to a Eurorack (in an Eagan Matrix Module). I then a processing chain with a notch filter cuting a frequency band aroud 280/300 Hz, and a noisegate in order to lower the motor noise. The Eagan Matrix module then adds shimmers and pitch effects."

Lullatone "Corduroy" played on a Muro Box N40 and OP-1 Field

video upload by Lullatone

"Muro Box sent a prototype of their upcoming N40 midi music box to test out. This new unit can also do the black keys on a keyboard! (the original N20 version is limited to the C major scale) Here, I'm controlling the plucking of the music box's tines with the OP-1 Field's keyboard by MIDI over USB-C, while sometimes adding in soft sine tone synth sounds coming out of the OP-1 at the same time. Soft sine tones and music boxes have been the Lullatone dream team since the early 2000s : )"

See the Muro Box label below for additional posts.

"Which Music Box Has the Best Sound?

The Beautiful Sound of a Music Box Comes from these key components: Comb, Metal Base, and Wood Box

The N20 and N40 Standard models share the same material and design, differing only in the number of notes and the inclusion of semitones. The N40 Sublime is our flagship model, featuring a four-comb configuration, an acacia wood box, and pure brass base that adds a unique character to its resonance."

"Since its inception, the Muro Box’s external MIDI functionality makes the dream of using a music box as an instrument a reality. Especially with the N40’s 40-note scale, which includes semitones, it meets the arrangement and composition needs of musicians!"
