Introducing OVUM for Eurorack - Analog Oscillator Bank by Crows Electromusic

video upload by Crows Electromusic

You might remember the stand alone version of OVUM from previous posts here. OVUM has now been ported to eurorack.

Press release follows:

Introducing OVUM for Eurorack - analog oscillator bank

August 6, 2025 - Crows Electromusic, a small synth company fromVancouver, Canada, is thrilled to introduce OVUM for Eurorack, a modular adaptation of our standalone synth OVUM. OVUM for Eurorack is a powerful, all-analog, drone and modulation source designed for exploratory sound synthesis, ambient, drone, and noise music. With five individually controllable and individually routable triangle-core oscillators, OVUM for Eurorack gives you a bank of raw material ready for use in your modular system - as droning dissonance, thick chords, or slow swelling modulation signals.

Features:

• 100% analog circuitry
• Five triangle-core oscillators
• Crossfade between triangle and square waves
• Switch each oscillator to audio-rate or LFO rate
• 4 individual outputs, normalled to 1 main output
• One-control-per-function interface
• 20hp, 3U eurorack standard
• Handmade in Canada

OVUM for Eurorack is our third release, and our first Eurorack module.

It builds on what we’ve learned making standalone products; the palm-sized FM drone box Lore, and the original OVUM. The main challenge of adapting a standalone synth to modular is: how does this fit into a modular context? Five more oscillators is always useful, but with OVUM for Eurorack we’ve built something that can be more than that - an instrument with space available to interact with, either as the voice of your composition, or as the control center for your modulations. We hope OVUM for eurorack will be the place your hands go first when you’re performing a patch.

While it’s designed with ambient, experimental, noise and drone music in mind - we think OVUM for Eurorack is going to be at home in virtually any type of modular system.

OVUM for Eurorack is available now for $150 USD / $200 CAD.

Crows Electromusic is a small synth company based in Vancouver, Canada. Started by Cory Alder in 2023. Crows’ goal is to develop new hardware instruments that challenge the established ways we interact with sound and music creation. Their first product, OVUM, was released in 2023, and their second product, Lore, was released in early 2025.

"Almost out of the box Demo Track including the
ALL NEW STUDIO ELECTRONICS CODE LUXE Synthesizer.
A short WAVE FOLDING Example, live sequenced and recorded. No FX on the CODE LUXE.

The Update/Upgrade sounds amazing - is worth every cent in my opinion (got my hands on since 2hrs).
Every Paramter is now storeable in memory including The 8106 (Roland) Dual Filter Settings as well as the Overdrive and Feedback. The Envelopes sound faster to me ...

Enjoy the bits

New Destiny+ arc*C (16 ideas)

video upload by kirkis

more information www.destiny-plus.com

arc*C is a 4-voice polytonal instrument in which each voice can continuously arc between two independent synthesis engines. fft based Spectral harmonic / phase distortion. Core system attributes include a 32-complex-envelope matrix, ×4 complex 3-D lattice sequencers, ×4 DSP algorithms,127 presets, a partnered drawing app to paint sound with Google Gemini API integration & a 1.91″ AMOLED display.

spectral core:

unique comb filter topologies

phase distortion core:

> 500 harmonics

for FFT stretching, warping, combing and morphing of odd / even partials.

2 large experimental LUTs each with scanning, 4-quadrant multiplication

& phase warping

Envelope matrix, 3-D Lattice Sequencers, DSP, Google Gemini API & arc*C app.
This core is built around 32 complex envelopes and an envelope matrix for all points of control and modulation within the system. These envelopes can have up to 80 break-points and the ability to control segment count, segment looping, rate, amplitude, rate modulation and cycle / trigger source. Randomise envelopes individually or the entire envelope matrix at once.

3-D lattice ×4:
arc*C also has ×4 X-Y-Z lattice Cartesian-like sequencers, represented by four mathematical shapes. Each one steers an invisible point through an 8 × 8 × 8 grid and is constrained by division, jitter, swing, stochastic ratchet/repeat subdivision, axis modulation, snake and orbit shape control, 16-scale index, and per-cell parameters (rest/ratchet %, gate %, probability). These can be the basis of chordal polymetric movements, complex spectral drum rhythms and more.

arc*C has ×4 unique DSP algorithms:

Gorbachev gas 2: 16-pole phaser with through-zero, per-stage coefficient offsets and feedback/resonance.

pnp=f: through-zero flanger.

lorax space 2: Hadamard-matrix reverb / FDN structure.

time cube: experimental 6-min regen delay."

Echolocator vs the Zen delay (lots of talk)

video upload by Richard DeHove

"Primarily this is a discussion about the various merits and abilities of each delay and how they compare."

"Although this video runs almost half an hour it feels like I was still skating on the surface. I avoided what I thought were completely obvious things or multiple sound comparisons of particular details. Even so a few areas I never got to include winding the delays all the way down and looking at various flanging and chorus effects, and maybe this deserves its own video? Likewise the Echolocator never got to its dirty mode or the alternate filter placement (although I do have no-talk videos which cover these). Nor did I play with the time parameters, long fripperish things, or drums. Ah well, so many wondrous sounds are waiting in the ether eager to be released. I'm trying.

And of course I never get to any conclusion about which delay is 'best' but surely you didn't think that was ever going to happen? Instead we only get to that forum advice favorite of 'use both'.

"EMU MP-7, XL-7 and PX-7 Collection - Hip Hop, EDM, Ambient, Rock, Jazz - These Workstations Do It All.

This is a rare opportunity to own All 3 of these vintage EMU Command Stations, the MP-7, the XL-7 and the ultra rare PX-7. The entire collection is available in this rare offering.

The MP-7 is geared toward Hip-Hop/R&B grooves while the XL-7 adds EDM and Ambient to the mix. The PX-7 brings Rock and Jazz to your composition tool-chest.

These units have been part of a private collection and all have been tested and are fully functioning. In addition these units come with user manuals ( a rare find). The PX-7 and XL-7 manuals are original hard-copy while the MP-7 is a PDF on a disk. Operation of these workstations is essentially the same for all three so once you learn one you will know them all. "Classic and cool Ensoniq ESQ1 from 1986! This is really amazing condition. Closet kept for decades and it shows!

It has OS 2.0, a new battery installed by a pro and a sequencer Cart is internally installed.

It ALL works and sounds as it should, also look at pics, it is in great condition.

This thing can emit some classic, Moog, Juno, Sequential type tones but can also get well into the PPG territory. Analog filters inside are supreme. This THREE oscillator synth is bold and at home in any synth freaks rig."

via this eBay listing

"Vintage Analog Goodness.. Oberheim Matrix 1000 in great working condition, no operational issues. Matrix has some rack rash on rack ears, but works great. This is just by far the best oberheim for the money. Classic rich pads, strings, brass, basses, leads all for a low price considering how much OB8, OBXA, Xpanders are selling for nowadays."

Ciat Lonbarde Plumbutter v1 + Patch cables

Note: links to listings are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.

via this Reverb listing

"This Plumbutter V1 has been looked over by CruxFX and modified to have a much louder snare circuit similar to the V2. The deerhorn circuit also goes down to LFO as well as rumbling bass tones which I think is a modification, though I have never played another V1 to verify. Feels extremely solid and well built and sounds incredible. I have compared it to a V2 and much prefer the V1 in terms of looks, feel, and sound. Handmade by Peter Blasser."

"NOTE: This listing is only for the Ciat Lonbarde Plumbutter V1 and patch cables. The Cocoquantus is not included. There is a bundle listing on my page however if you’d like them both as a bundle with a dual stand and other goodies."

Three Body & FM Algorithms | The Schlappy Minute

Play Running Up That Hill by Kate Bush on Stylophone

video upload by Stylophone

"ON THIS DAY: KATE BUSH ‘RUNNING UP THAT HILL (A DEAL WITH GOD)’

Released on this day, 40 years ago on August 5th 1985, Kate Bush’s ‘Running Up That Hill (A Deal With God) was more than a lead single - it was a seismic moment in art-pop history.

The track opened her Hounds of Love album, blending analog synths with raw emotion and poetic intensity. It’s now hailed as a masterpiece of experimental pop and has found a new generation of fans thanks to Stranger Things.

Critics praised Bush’s boundary-pushing production and storytelling, with Hounds of Love now considered one of the greatest albums of the 1980s.
