OBSO | Circle Cynths
video uploads by Circle Cynths
"The debut instrument from Circle Cynths, OBSO. A dreamlike interface delivering instant inspiration, featuring nostalgic synths, pads, basses, bells, and strings, all sampled using obsolete technology.
Learn more at: www.circlecynths.com"

"OBSO is an inspiring catalog of sounds coaxed directly from various forms of obsolete media and extant technology. We celebrate the undulating inconsistencies of bygone days, lovingly filtered through the oxide and worn machinery of VCRs, cassette-decks and other consumer products from the 80s and 90s.
Our dreamlike but intuitive interface is intended to spark instant emotion. Specifically designed to sound good no matter where the knobs are, the five visceral control circles nevertheless offer a huge depth of range within a single patch. Nostalgic synths, creamy pads, lush basses, shimmering bells, burnished brass, scintillating strings, and more glow with the patina of fine age.
Individual sounds sink into a mix like they always existed, but you'll find they can easily stand alone without the need for layering or manipulation outside of the instrument. From film and game scoring to lush pop records, these tactile soundscapes add a dose of warm nostalgia to nearly any production.
Simple Interface
Sculpt your sound with an intuitive interface that features massive depth of control, giving you endless ways to shape and refine your tone.

"Pladask ROM is the Eurorack sibling of the Stereo Dradd — a reverb that doesn’t simulate real spaces, but invents new ones. Closely related to Pladask's DRAUME pedal. With three algorithms (HALL, FRAME, GRAIN), clock control, random modulation, and stereo unpredictability, ROM excels at turning static sounds into restless, living textures.
If you enjoy experimental sound design, modular weirdness, and reverb that goes beyond realism, ROM is a perfect tool for your rack."
Tone Science Module No.10 The Final Patch (DiN:TS10)
"Now available as a double CD with an 8-page booklet & download

Tone Science sub-label, from DiN records, concludes its exploration of the world of modular synth music.
Since the first volume in the Tone Science series was released in 2018, seventy-two musicians in total have joined in with this celebration of the musical possibilities of modular synthesis. These artists have been from a huge range of backgrounds but have all shared the unifying purpose of showcasing the incredible variety of sonic possibilities these instruments can offer.
The intervening seven years have seen the modular synth world expanding at an exponential rate and whilst one wouldn’t go so far as to say these synths are mainstream, they are certainly far more prevalent than in the past. It’s especially gratifying to see so many musicians now either play solo sets with them or to include them in their onstage arsenal.
Thus we come to this, the final instalment in the Tone Science series. Nothing lasts forever and certainly stopping at this nice round number of ten seems like a good way to not only end the series but to release the Final Patch, a real celebration of what has gone before and perhaps to hint at what is possible for the future. A beautifully packaged double CD featuring twenty artists who have appeared on previous iterations of the series, it really is a who’s who of modular synth musicians. The release is accompanied by an eight-page booklet with an essay by Neil Mason and some final words from the guiding force behind the whole project, Ian Boddy, label boss at DiN. And as Boddy so succinctly puts it in his liner notes, “for me, despite the technological nature of the equipment, the emotional quality of the music is the single most important factor”. The Final Patch certainly delivers on that ethos.
DSI Poly Evolver sequencer soundscape with Fractal Audio FM3 for FX
video upload by MIDERA
"Yesterday was a good day. Just one of those memorable days that I'll cherish, with some things that I can't talk about, but other things that I can. I played some games with my youngest daughter while my wife picked up our older kid from school. When she came home, she asked me to pull out a loose tooth. I did - blood everywhere. The joy on her face when it came out, and the follow up pain and tears and "Wow this is different" was just exciting to watch. She is growing up and I love being such an integral part of that. It makes me so happy. Then, the three of us played board games for another hour or two while it rained outside.
Honestly, there could not have been a better day.
Oh yeah, and I bought Silksong and started playing that."

WELSON BAND (1976?)
There are quite a few cool machines we've managed to track down after searching for years, but very few have fallen into our laps.
But the Welson Band did just that.
We hadn't even heard of this stunningly beautiful machine at all when we bought it on a Google Alert whim - considering our obsession with auto accompaniment units - that's a rare first.
Acquired for next to nothing we managed to locate a PDF of its schematics - the only trace of this machine on the web - and swiftly failed to understand how one was supposed to control the harmonies of the accompaniments, meaning the bass, chords and arpeggiator.
The back does sport a connector, to hook up a potential bass pedal, accordion or controller keyboard to, but it's marked "Switch Board".
Remember, this was about 10 years before MIDI was invented so this machines for sure needed an external something to decide the key and harmonies.
We had our dear tech Andrea bash together a controller keyboard and it works and looks pretty well apart from being a bit crooked and not triggering all the time.
The video explains everything well so please read the text if you have any questions - in short the machine is fully analog, great drum sounds and the arpeggiator is to die for.

Spectravox and DFAM | Advanced Physical Modeling
video upload by Moog Music
"In this video we explore the principles of physical modeling synthesis using DFAM and Spectravox.
We begin with a summary of physical modeling synthesis. Physical modeling models an excitation signal (the isolated sound of a finger hitting a drum head, a pick plucking a guitar sting, a bow bowing a cello string) and a resonating body (a drum, a wooden block, a string coupled with a wooden body, etc.). Excitation signals are usually very short sounds full of harmonics and noise – we use DFAM to sculpt a broadband signal with lots of internal dynamics using DFAM’s three envelopes. Spectravox’s ten resonant filters with individual level control are then used to model a resonating body. DFAM’s velocity sequencer further allows us to create a sequence with harder or softer drum hits, while its pitch sequencer can move Spectravox’s filters via the SHIFT input for fascinating tonal changes."
Labyrinth and Subharmonicon | Tangled Transpositions
video upload by Moog Music
"In this video we tie Labyrinth and Subharmonicon’s sequencers together for tangled transpositional movement.
We begin by mixing the VCA outputs of each instrument using Labyrinth’s utility mixer. We then show how to quantize Subharmonicon’s two sequencers to generate sequences of octaves and then add those sequences to Labyrinth’s two sequencers to generate polyrhythmic octave transpositions. Labyrinth’s voice is sequenced by Labyrinth SEQ 1 and transposed by Subharmonicon SEQ 2 while Subharmonicon’s voice is sequenced by Labyrinth SEQ 2 and transposed by Subharmoncon SEQ 1. With Labyrinth’s quantizer set to Hirajoshi pentatonic scaling octave transpositions from Subharmonicon work well regardless of western tonality. Using more traditional western scales from Labyrinth we can set the steps of Subharmonicon to values other than octaves (e.g. perfect fourths/fifths) provided we stay in key."

"This is the most unique Oberheim Xpander you will ever see and it has quite the history. Yes it is the USA version (the best version) don’t worry.
It was previously owned by Nyle Steiner. Who is that you may ask? We he is a genius inventor who created the EVI / EWI the electronic wind instrument which was later sold to Akai. With that said, Nyle did do some modifications on this Xpander, which I have no idea everything he did. What I could see was that he wired each oscillator to have their own individual 1/4” output which is why there are 6 holes that were cut out the back. I removed this wiring but the holes remained."

Bad Gear - Why did they do this???
video upload by AudioPilz
"Welcome to Bad Gear, the show about the world’s most-h*ted audio tools. In a time before Volcas, the Clone Wars and Moog becoming just another specimen in InMusic’s butterfly collection the granddaddy of synth brands brought an instrument to the market that can be considered the blueprint for the music tech landscape to come.
Today we are going to talk about Minitaur. This 2012 analog mono synth and domesticated modern take on the iconic Taurus bass foot pedals of 70s prog rock fame not only comes with the pitch range of a Bob Dylan harmonica solo, it will also keep you glued to your computer screen like their CPU-munching Mariana plugin. Why did they do this?

How To Use a Huge Steel Tank As a Plugin
video upload by HAINBACH
"This is one of the most unreal reverbs I have ever heard, and it can be used like a real life plugin: The Tank in Rangely, Colorado. Discovered in the 1970s and previously only available to people in the know, it was converted into a venue and recording studio in 2015. I was invited by The Tank Center for Sonic Arts to try out its fantastic resonances. But instead of traveling there, I could sit in my studio and access it comfortable via an AUX from Ableton, and record a full album. In this video I show you the process and what you have to keep in mind if you want to play with the Tank.
