video upload by Introducing... Dato DRUM 🥁
Also see Perfect Circuit's video here.
"🚀 Live on Kickstarter now! https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/...
🥁 Dato DRUM: the playful drum machine that is made to be enjoyed by humans of all ages! The hands-on visual sequencer makes it easy to explore rhythm & the circular shape invites collaboration."
Press release follows:
"Dato DRUM is a playful drum machine that is aimed at children and adults alike. Its round shape invites collaboration, and its simple hands-on interface makes sure everyone can play along.
Key features include:
Four sample-based drum voices with pitch control
Eight-step circular sequencer per voice
Pressure-sensitive drum pads
Built-in speaker, USB power, MIDI and SYNC
User-replaceable samples via a web-based tool
Musicians and non-musicians of all ages were involved in the design process, resulting in a unique and robust instrument. The DRUM has a focused selection of features inviting hands-on interaction. Each voice has its own eight-step sequencer that always shows the entire pattern with its colorful lights, making it easy to explore different rhythms.
Our Journey:
Dato creates musical instruments for future generations. Starting from the belief that making music is fun and should be so from the first time you try it, a Dato instrument is always out of the ordinary, yet easy to use.
In 2016 we successfully Kickstarted the Dato DUO – a synthesizer for making electronic music together. Since then, we have been producing the DUO here in our studio in Utrecht, The Netherlands."

What's Up - 4 Non Blondes [Cozy Ambient Cover]
video by Amie Waters
"April 1st has become meme day, but why only one day of memes? I give you a solid month of memes, and I even got started a little early. I actually grew up listening to 4 Non Blondes' Bigger, Better, Faster, More so when this track got meme-ified I knew it was only a matter of time before I covered it. I just wanted to make the song cozy and sweet. Like I woke in the morning, stepped outside, took a deep breath and got real high.... That is what's going on."

Test Bench Jam - Earthquaker Devices, 808, Dato Duo, Big Muff Pi
Published on May 31, 2018 Soundgas
"Another Wednesday afternoon test bench jam with Dec and Joel at the controls. All gear is for sale right now. Dato Duo synced with an 808 is always fun... Dato Duo through a Sovtek Big Muff Pi as well just sounds huge. Meanwhile Joel's guitar is corrupted by the EarthQuaker Data Corrupter and Night Wire playing very well with one of our Sovtek Small Stones."

Patchwerks Signals 2018 Seattle Synth Meet Pics

Some pics from this year's Signals Synth Meet hosted by Patchwerks in Seattle, WA. Hover over the image and click on the right arrow to flip through pics.
Roland showed their new System 500 eurorack modules by Malekko, it is now official. Industrial Music Elecectronics, aka The Harvestman, had their new Piston Honda mkII with built-in graphic display. Synthwerks, a Seattle native, were showing their modules. As is tradition, a ton of people brought their own gear to share with others. You'll spot a Fairlight from synthroom.com (click through for a great shot of the system at Valley of Fire State Park, Nevada), an EMS SYNTHI, a DATO DUO and some old school rotary phones (not sure what they did as I didn't get a chance to check them out), some alternative/diy controllers, and of course plenty of eurorack, 5U (John L Rice), and Buchla modular. Also the only MATRIXSYNTH military hat in existence! :) It's owned by Larry Kleinke, aka Computer Controlled, who had the Roland gear, white Korg Arp Odyssey desktop, and Abstrakt Instruments Avalon.

Dato DUO Jamming with: Big Hare - Kickstarter Campaign Ends in 2 Hours!
Published on Jun 26, 2016 Dato Musical Instruments
"Big Hare (http://www.bighare.org/) visited our Dato booth and made a catchy little track with the Dato DUO.
Final day on Kickstarter! http://dato.mu/ks"
BTW, in case you missed it, the Dato DUO has added a few new features since the start of the campaign, including going open source:
"The software for the Dato DUO prototype you have seen in our campaign video is built on top of open source building blocks. To name a few: the Teensy Audio and FastLED libraries have helped us prototype a synthesizer quickly. We love sharing our insights, so we are happy to tell you that we are going to open source the Dato DUO’s software as well. We will share the software under an open source license so that you can learn from, adapt or improve the DUO."
See their Kickstarter campaign for more.
