RNA vactrol crossfade fun!

Published on Dec 16, 2015 littlem4tt

"Just messing around with a vactrol crossfader on the breadboard and then controlling it from the silent way lfo.

The bass sound is a system x oscillator and the other input channel is an fm sound which is a sys x osc modulated by the sine wave output from the yusynth osc.

The output from the crossfader is then fed into 1 channel of the stereo hearne morley HM2040 filter (12db)."

New Frequency Central - Bartos Flur

Published on Mar 5, 2015 DivKidMusic

"A great CV to trigger / gate module from Frequency Central. Two inputs (one unipolar and one bipolar) clock input to only sample the CV inputs with a clock or high gate signal and 8 outputs switchable between triggers or gates.

Hit like and subscribe for more videos every week and check the Patreon link below to see how you can support my channel.

http://www.patreon.com/divkid"

"CV to trigger/gate generator

-It analyses incoming CV and breaks it down into steps
-2 inputs each with attenuator, one is 0v to 5v, the other bipolar +/-5V
-each CV attenuator can also be used as offset if no CV is present
-the clock input makes the module just sample the CV inputs when a clock is present

It can make an analogue sequencer into a drum machine for example
Filter Pingssssssss!
work as Gate to Trigger converter
If the input is an ADSR you can patch further ADSRs to the outputs for complex envelopes ;-)
if the input is after touch cv you can use that to trigger envelopes
20 mA +12V
10 mA -12V
0 mA 5V
35 mm Depth
Available as an assembled module and as a DIY project."

Frequency Central Roland System 100m Eurorack Synthesizer Modules - Full Set

via this auction

"Hey there. Up for sale is the full set of roland system 100m modules. All you need is power and you're good to go.
I'm a snob when it comes to synths and will shell out for something vintage- I know it will sound good but $$$
These modules took me by surprise and made me a believer in "modern" products. Just as snappy as my sh101 but with warmer 70s sound. Not as fuzzy as my sh2 and not as plasticy as the 101. Only selling because I'm chasing kobols.
One of the oscillators only tracks well over 2-3 octaves but it's not a problem. I use it as an lfo most of the time or I make detuned bass lines that only jump around a few octaves. There's trim pots on the osc that might help that. The other osc is solid."

"Lovely fuzz and distortion based on the classic Big Muff pedal! It'll do wooly warm fuzz, subtle tone shaping with a soft saturation/colour, feedback madness and work as a great output VCA (LPG style tones possibly too)."

NOVARS Research Centre in association with Open-Circuit, Salford and Basic Electricity Berlin are proud to present the first edition of the Sines and Squares Festival, celebrating the recent resurgence of analogue and modular synthesizers.

Part festival/part symposium, for the first time in the UK, this event brought together composers, performers, manufacturers, musicologist and DIY enthusiasts in a weekend of concerts, interactive sessions, installations, master classes, demonstrations, workshops and coffee… Guests included two of the most creative of today’s new breed of analogue designers Rob Hordijk of Hordijk Modular (Netherlands) and Tom Bugs of Bugbrand, along with artists such as John Chantler (ROOM40, Café OTO), Lu Katavist (smalldeath.org), Richard Scott (psi, Basic Electricity), Buchla-master Dan P and David Ross (ini.itu records). The festival featured artists working with systems such as Buchla 200e, Haken Continuum, Eurorack, Bugbrand, EMS Synthi, Expert Sleepers, Ciat Lonbarde and Serge.

Sines & Squares is supported by Thonk, Islington Mill, Analogue Solutions, Expert Sleepers, Bugbrand, Frequency Central, KOMA Elektronik and featuring the MANTIS Surround Sound System

The weekend was a unique opportunity to listen, to enjoy, to educate, to meet and to learn more about the history, present and perhaps the future of analogue and modular synthesis. We focussed of the music, the instruments and on the people who build, love and play them.

We hope to deepen and enrich the culture currently surrounding analogue and modular musical technologies and to help build an artistic and discursive community which bridges boundaries, between academic and non-academic electronic music, between the technical and aesthetic, between synthesizers designers and users, between analogue and digital technologies between the past and current artistic practice.

An extraordinary line-up of over 30 artists from the UK, Mexico, Spain, France, USA, Germany, Netherlands, Slovak Republic, Mexico, Italy and Brazil including Rob Hordijk, Tom Bugs, John Chantler, Dennis Verschoor, Sam Weaver, Finlay Shakespeare, Danny Saul, Jo Hyde, Aidan Taylor, Kim Da Costa, Jens Hedman, Lu Katavist, Richard Scott, Jules Rawlinson, Ricardo Climent, Mark Pilkington, Dave Ross, Patrick Gunawan Hartono, Rosalia Soria, Guillaume Dujat des Allimes, Epameinodas Fassianos, Ignacio Pecino, Chelsea Bruno, Tintin Patrone, Nils Knott, Daniel van Eendenburg and the Krachkisten Orchestra, Manoli Moriaty, Melanie O’Dubhshlaine, Mat Dalgleish, Chris Foster, Gary Bromham, Andrew Lowe and James Prosser, Matt Preston, Dave O Mahony, Jim Frize, Andrew Duff, James Parr, Alexander Harden, Nuria Bonet, Alena Mesarosova, Manuel Ferrer, Rodrigo de León Garza, John Macedo, Caterina Barbieri, presented their music, research and ideas and there was space to discuss the music, instruments, the scene and the ideas behind the remarkable recent resurgence of these beguiling and fascinating once thought to be obsolete musical instruments."

frequencycentral continuum phaser module

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.

via this auction

"Vendor Info:

Continuum has it’s roots in my previous guitar effects pedal designs. First there was Causality 4, then Causality 6, then Gemini Dual Core.
Continuum looks and acts rather like a VCF, in fact that’s exactly what a phaser is, an all-pass VCF. There’s far more to phasers than just sweeps up and down from an LFO, so Continuum has two CV inputs, so you can use a variety of CV sources simultaneously.

The topology of Continuum is 4 swept OTA all-pass filter stages with a fixed all-pass filter stage either side of the swept core. There’s a switch to select regen over odd or even stages. Most phasers stick to odd stages, but there are undiscovered sonic possibilities using even stages of regen.

Continuum @ Modular Grid

Wanna hear it? First, let’s phase some pink noise:

Continuum Noise

So now, with a couple of VCOs as audio, let’s send S/H into one CV input then an ADSR into the other, while slowly turning up the resonance:

Continuum SH Env

Now, a single VCO as audio, with ADSR to one CV input of Continuum, and slowly introducing a -1oct sub osc to the other CV input:

Continuum FM

Finally, here’s how it sounds phasing my Roland RS-09:

frequencycentral system X filter roland system filter module

"Vendor Info:

Frequency Central proudly announce the release of the ‘System X Filter’.

It’s a clone of the Roland System 100M VCF, and uses 2 x LM13700. There’s an additional 12dB/oct output which is 180 degrees out of phase with the 24dB/oct output. Mixing the two outputs will give bandpass.

First up, classic 24dB/oct LPF. The two VCOs are my Hearn Morley HMVCO1c, there is a little -1oct subosc added as FM of the VCF towards the end of the clip:

Roland-12 1-24dB-LPF.mp3

Next, the 12dB/oct LPF output, again a touch of subosc FM towards the end:

Roland-12 1-12dB-LPF.mp3

Finally, by mixing both 12dB/oct and 24dB/oct outputs in equal amount we have the bandpass mode:

Roland-12 1-Bandpass.mp3

Module width: 10HP
Module depth: 65mm
Current draw: +10ma/-10ma"

MODULAR SYNTH JAM #10 - Lost In Chords

Published on Jul 21, 2014 DivKidMusic

"So here's the latest in my extended vine style jams with the mentality of 'this is pretty cool I'll film it'. Got really lost in this one and a lot more to it than some of the simpler jam videos. 4 fully independent voices create some chords. Full patch notes below (best I can remember and from notes, to add that white noise was mixed in a few places too)

PATCH NOTES -

Voice 1 is Livewire AFG square sub, triangle and animated saw going into STG .mix then into Livewire Frequensteiner filter in low pass mode before going into a final STG .mix as an output mixer.

Voice 2 is Synthesis Tech E350 going into Doepfer A-189 Bit Modifier into a Synthrotek EKO then into Mutable Instruments Ripples then mixer.

Voice 3 is Mutable Instruments Braids Intro Malekko Borg 2 filter mixed with white noise into Doepfer A-199 Spring Reverb into output mixer.

Sequence is from the 4ms SCM and breakout clocking the Make Noise Brains and Pressure Points sending top row of pitch to ADDAC 207 Quantizer. The top row of Pressure Points is quantised and sent to the Livewire AFG. The second quantizer out is set to an interval of a third and passed onto the E350. Channel 3 on the quantizer takes input from Pressure Points middle and bottom row going into a switch to create a 16 step sequence. This then goes into the Braids.

Turing Machine is clocked to x8 the clock pulse and sends the random sequence out to a Malekko 8nu8r attenuator before going to the E350 y Morphing. The Turing Machine sequence is also multed through a stackable into the Ripples filter cut off modulation. The Turing Machine Voltages expander sends it's sequence to the Livewire Frequensteiner filter.

A Bubblesound uLFO sends modulation to AFG animated saws and E350 Morph X. Aswell as a Frequency Central Ultra Wave distort input to bend the Ultra Wave waveform output. It also send FM into a Intellijel Dixie in LFO mode.

Frequency Central Ultra wave is clocked from the 4ms SCM and is modulating a uLFO shaped sine output which goes to the E350 and also modulates another animated waveform modulation point of the AFG.

An Intellijel Dixie sends zig zag waveform modulation to the Braids Timbre and is FM'd from the uLFO. Braids also receives sine wave modulation of the colour through an attenuator from a second Dixie oscillator.

The second Dixie oscillator sends voltage influence to a Pittsburgh Modular viLFO which sends it's triangle output to the A-189 sample rate reduction. The viLFO also sends it's triangle/square shaped output to the EKO rate.

Manual wiggling was of all the filters cut offs, spring reverb mix amount, and attenuators for modulation depth."

scorbie - Over Hang 2 - 1 (modular synth)

Published on Jun 23, 2014 scorbie·49 videos

"Experimenting with my latest Frequency Central & Steffensen modules.

Hard at work are:
Frequency Central's
Loop/Env Generator, Trans Europa and S/H Noise
modules irritating The Maths as it tries to be cool.
FC's Continuum Phase Shifter is getting rattled by the other
bits in it's range.
The Frequency Central SystemX Oscillator provides arpeggiated
bass duties going through the FC Raging Bull, not forgetting the
FC range of mental LFOs Waverunner and Ultrawave also
confusing matters, and really pissing off the Doepfer Xtreme filter.

It's also worth mentioning the main VCOs at the heart of this
mayhem are a pair of Steffensen Oscillarps, having their FMs and PWMs insulted by FC, along with it's ADSR
companion The Envelarp.
They are all being pumped through the new god of all VCAs, the mighty Arplifier.
A new module based on the ARP2600 VCA.

Somewhere in there a Synthrotek EKO is trying hard to justify
being in such good company, and the Doepfer A-147 LFO is making something move a bit.

Coming soon: Doepfer Wave Multiplier and Spring Reverb!

This is self indulgent shite. Only I will enjoy watching this. :) xx"
