Rebel Technology OpenSoundModule

Published on Nov 9, 2015 Rebel Technology

"Using the OpenSoundModule with TouchOSC and Lemur.
The OpenSoundModule is a WiFi OSC to CV /Gate interface for Eurorack modular synthesizers.
See http://www.rebeltech.org/products/ope... for details."

"The Open Sound Module is a WiFi connectivity module. It sets up a wireless network connection directly with your modular synthesizer. The OSM has two CV inputs and two CV outputs, along with two trigger inputs and outputs, for bi-directional wireless communication.

Use the OSM to connect your modular synthesizer to your mobile phone, tablet, laptop, local network or the mighty internet. Use two OSMs to connect together two racks, whether they are in the same room, or even the same continent. Use many to make the biggest modular synthesizer in the world!

The OSM communicates using the OSC protocol. It can connect to your local WiFi network or set up its own access point. The Open Sound Module embeds a small web server, enabling you to control and configure the device with a browser."

Future Sound Systems P.O.C.A. VAC1 demonstration

Published on Nov 5, 2015 Future Sound Systems

"This video demonstrates the workings of the new FSS VAC1 Passive Optically-Controlled Attenuator module."

via Future Sound Systems

"The Passive Optically-Controlled Attenuator, or P.O.C.A., is designed to give a set of vactrol-based gates in a compact-but-usable module. Its four gates can be set to act as low-pass-gates, or normal optically-controlled attenuators (for a "VCA" type action) via jumpers on the rear of the module. CV is normalled in a downwards fashion, so that control signals input to the top gate can effect the gate at the bottom. This is also true of the audio, but with a gate's output normalled to the next gate's input. This allows for steeper filtering slopes and sharper control. It is recommended, however, that only two gates are used per chain as external buffers may struggle with high impedance inputs. To summarise, the features of the P.O.C.A. VAC1 are:

-Quad optically-controlled attenuator module
-Jumpable LPG or VCA modes
-Normalling provides easy control and signal patching
-2mm thick fibreglass panel
-Sturdy but compact design and construction
-Hand assembled and tested by Finlay Shakespeare at FSS HQ in Bristol

TipTop Z-DSP - New cartridges by Christophe Duquesne featuring Deep Forest

Published on Nov 3, 2015 Christophe Duquesne

"This is a small improvised demo with the TipTop Z-DSP new cartridges by Christophe Duquesne featuring Eric Mouquet (Deep Forest)

It is a 3 takes improvisation and knob tweaking :
- first take with a Buchla going 100% trhough the Physical Modeling cartridge (waveguides and other physical models)
- second take with a Tempest going 100% through the Grain de Folie cartridge (granular effect)
- third track adds a few additional synth with an OB-Mx

A bit of editing and that's all (no additional effects)

The demo was recorded together by Christophe Duquesne (developper of the cartridge) and Eric Mouquet from Deep Forest (you can support Deep Forest on Pledge at http://www.pledgemusic.com/projects/d...)."

Meet The Alright Chronoblob

Note this is the first Alright post on the site. They've only been all good up to this point. Bahah. ;)

via Alright Devices (via Papernoise):

"Chronoblob is a digital delay module!

Unlike other delays, Chronoblob can sync to an external clock. Patch one to the SYNC input and choose a multiplier/divider for rhythmic delays. Or don't do that and just sweep TIME for traditional, continuously variable delay times. Do you!

Chronoblob's OTA-based analog FDBK circuit is CV-controllable and can be pushed up to and beyond unity for near-infinite decay or harsh saturating feedback. The guts of the feedback loop are made available to you, the discerning modular enthusiast, via the SEND and RETURN jacks. Patch in a lowpass filter for smooth, shadowy echoes, or cop two blobs and get yr pingpong on! Use the equal-power crossfading dry/wet control to dial in your mix.

Chronoblob's mode switch selects its response to delay time changes. Throw the switch up to select resampling mode and get sweeping pitch effects reminiscent of a tape loop or BBD. With the switch down, Chronoblob smoothly crossfades between delay taps for quicker, more subtle changes. Patch in a clock and sequence the TIME CV input in this mode for rhythmic ratcheting delays!

Chronoblob also uniquely features a HOLD switch and gate input to freeze the audio buffer. Punch that shit and modulate TIME for mad stutter and glitch!

Specifications:
Audio: 16bit, 48kHz
Delay: 5ms to 500ms in SHORT mode, 50ms to 2.73s in LONG mode
Power: +12V / 90mA, -12V / 30mA
Width: 10HP
Depth: 30mm (including power connector)"

Snazzy FX : GTR_amp module/tidal wave /wow module /out to tube amp

Published on Oct 24, 2015 snazelle

Guitar meets modular.

"First demo with the final proto
Guitar goes into module
Module out to tidal wave and wow and flutter then back into GTR_amp module then out to tube amp ...includes overdrive , discrete transistor input and gain stages , trigger out and proper attenuation and buffering to go back to amp (or just stay in euro and use your regular setup with a nice guitar input with overdrive and trigger out )"

"due to popular demand, Snazzy FX has created a module made just for you GUITARISTS!

THE GTR AMP euro Module!

Allowing you to both Control other modules with your guitar (such as triggering an envelope) And use your guitar as a +/-5v signal, effects like Ring Modulation, Triggered Sweeps, Tremolo, and more can all be patched up when you use the GTR AMP module as your guitars input into the system.

Made to complement a row of SNAZZY FX MODULES (the tidal wave and wow and flutter are both perfect for guitar processing!) as well as work with all other euro modules.

The main advantage of the module is the HIGH GAIN it can produce without turning your guitar into TOTAL MUSH, however it does range from clean to nicely over-driven."

Ninstrument SP-12/Drumulator Eurorack Module

Published on Oct 19, 2015 Ninstrument.com

"Do you miss a few of the drum machines from the 80's? Well, even if you don't, how nice is it to get 8 percussion sounds from 10HP?"

via Ninstrument

"Jan over at DSP Synthesizers has created an emulation of the classic SP-12 and Drumulator from E-mu Systems and put it on a single chip. His original project is located here

Seeing this made me long for the older 80’s drum machines and I knew it would also be nice if I could get this into my eurorack using the least amount of space(HP) as possible. Well, getting 8 vintage percussion sounds into 10HP works for me!"

New Grendel Drone Commander 2 prototype DC-2E

Published on Oct 19, 2015 EA78751

"Rare Waves LLC demonstrates a Grendel Drone Commander 2 prototype in Eurorack format.

Drone Commander 2 is a true analog synthesizer with discrete transistor technology. It has 12 knobs for lots of hands on control, and every knob is a push-pull switch that activates tone modification options.

It retains the original Drone Commander filter, and adds a second independently controlled filter for contrast. The second filter is a smooth and clean 4-pole lowpass filter (-24dB/oct VC-LPF). It has an attack-release envelope generator and serves as a lowpass gate, to control the volume and tone.

The LFO section has been completely revised.. its kind of hard to describe, listen instead (please pardon the noodling)

The optional Expander module can be connected to add voltage control. It has 18 patch points including CV/Gate input, Clock in/out, and external audio input. Connecting a MIDI controller and MIDI-CV converter to the Expander gives the Drone Commander 2 its full potential for melodic performance, sequencing, and synchronization.

The video soundtrack was recorded by line-in, with a bit of reverb and delay FX .. Yamaha SPX-1000 and Korg SDD-1200.

A stand-alone version may be in the works also. Thanks for watching!
