TTSH (Arp 2600 clone) meets the Squid

Todd Murray

"This is my latest DIY synthesizer. A V4 TTSH connected to a Toraiz Squid. Basically, this just demonstrates how these synths sound with just 3 VCOs, one of which is also providing a sub-oscillator. Jump to 1:15 to hear the sub-oscillator kick in and about 1:46 to hear all the VCOs. Oh yea... crank this up for best effect. And this build has some alterations to components, etc from the standard TTSH"

Latest TTSH build (Arp 2600 clone)

Todd Murray

"This is from the latest V4 TTSH PCBs from Synthcube. There have been many mods done to this as well, including waveshapers, gatebooster, VCO sync, etc. Although most of the voltage control still uses the LM301, many are selected for the lowest input offset voltage as possible. Additionally the entire audio path uses OPAMPs that are closer to the original MC1439s in either fast slew rate or lowest input offset voltage where needed. VCOs, VCA and VCFs make heavy use of matched (Vbe) transistor (NPN/NPN or PNP/PNP) pairs, matched JFETs and NPN/PNP pairs selected for identical and optimal Hfe."

Zero-G Northern Lights Featuring Rare Vintage ARP 2500, E-Mu, and Aries Modules

Playlist:
Zero-G Northern Lights Pad Machine - Trailer
Zero-G Northern Lights Pad Machine - Sound preview by Frodebeats
Zero-G Northern Lights Pad Machine - Walkthrough

Don't miss the vintage ARP 2500 modules (1047, 1004p, 1023) in the video below. There's a vintage E-mu UAF module in the system as well. FRODEBEATS also used some Dennis Colin (Aries) modules for Northern Lights.

Note Zero-G's Northern Lights is of course more than this. You just don't get many modern soft synths with rare modules like this, so I thought it worth mentioning. According to Frodebeats, "Northern lights is not a vintage synth instrument by any means. It's a forward looking instrument focused on pads with controls set up to control many different parameters at once, and also different for each sound. Lots of work!"

Frodebeats - The making of Zero-G Northern Lights Pad Machine

"We chat with FRODEBEATS the producer of Northern Lights Pad Machine. Find out how it was made, his inspirations and the sounds used to create this incredible Kontakt instrument.

Full interview - https://zero-g.co.uk/blogs/news/we-ta...

Zero-G Northern Lights Pad Machine is a multilayered Kontakt instrument containing almost 6GB of brand-new audio content and giving you more than 970 original and unique sounds. Multi-layered patches utilizing every possible and impossible sound source. From rare modular synthesizers to metal and sounds from the Norwegian natural environment. All with one thing in mind – to create the most amazing pad sounds ever made!"

Some studio pics in via Frodebeats. Check out the ARP & E-Mu modules below.

The Cloney Project EMS VCS3 TTSH (ARP 2600) and the Buchla Easel

therudyrude

"Keysteps are used as arpegiator for the VCS3 and TTSH .

Easel in Eventide H9

2600 in Strymon Big Sky

Cloney VCS3 in Ventris Dual Verb

I had to attenuate the voltage coming from the Keystep going to the VCS3 so that it can kind of track well tempered."

TTSH Mini Meanie - ARP 2600 clone

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.

via this auction

"The TTSH or Two Thousand Six Hundred Mini Meanie is a Modern version of the Original Arp 2600 at about 73% of the original size making it the "mini meanie".

In terms of electronics the TTSH is pretty much identical to the early 70s grey faced model 2600P, which includes the built-in speakers (although these speakers are way better than the original speakers). Additionally it has awesome orange LED sliders as standard. (nerdaudio.com)

This particular TTSH v3 was built by Patrick Jöricke aka LED Man. He added the following mods to the build:
1. VCO sync (syncs VCO 1/2/3)
2. Gate booster - use TTSH with your Eurorack gear"

ARP 2600 TTSH 's Overview of the modifications

Published on Apr 27, 2020 therudyrude

"Steve Sommers suggested that I should get these modifications on the TTSH he was building for me. They are: A frequency Divider, Sine and Triangle waves for all oscillators, Syncable oscillators, Swithes for time scaling of the envelope generators and a super quiet and relativly hifi spring reverb."

Studio Electro Jam with various analog synths and the TR808

Published on Apr 5, 2020 Peter Maas

"Been putting another electro track together using mostly old school analog equipment like the roland TR808, SH101 and Jupiter-4. Chord stabs from the crumbar bit-one. FM/Arpeggiator sounds from the TTSH ARP 2600 clone. Processing using various pedals (meris mercury, strymon el capistan) and outboard (Klark Technik 1167 and EQP1, Knas Moisturizer). Made some video material whilst recording and mixed in some diving footage to have a bit of a back-drop to the track."

The Human Comparator TTSH (Arp 2600 Clone) Semi-Modular Synth Rev 2

"There is a lot of talk right now about the ARP 2600, and the TTSH is partially to blame for that. Offering a smaller, DIY solution (or pre-built like this one was from companies like Laurentide Synthworks) to a synth based around the sound and functionality of the original legend.

Used in really good condition. Some light scuffs on the outside of the case. The finish on the metal is very susceptible to scuffing and light scratches so if you need to have pristine gear this might not be the case for you. All sliders and their LEDs function properly."

Yamaha CX-5 Music Computer (with TTSH synth and a little ELP)

Published on Feb 15, 2020 robotmakers

"Yamaha CX5M is an MSX-system compatible computer that had a built-in eight-voice FM synthesizer module, introduced in 1984 by Yamaha Corporation. It was a cross between a Commodore 64 and a DX9 FM synth. Yamaha produced a range of cartridges including a programmer for Yamaha's DX range of FM keyboards and a real-time sequencer. There were a couple of high quality keyboards you could hook up, floppy drives and a variety of different accessories.

Here, the MIDI out of the CX5 is interfaced to a TTSH (Arp 2600 clone) synth used here for ELP's Karn Evil 9 intro."

ARP 2600 Clone - TTSH Improv | Matt Chadra

Published on Feb 3, 2020 ClavAnother

"Just having a little fun with the TTSH. This thing is still one of my favourite synths of all time.

I'm triggering it from the Novation SLmkIII arpeggiator, occasionally turning steps on and off and also sometimes playing in different notes. The on-board sample & hold also introduces variation to the sequence at times.

There is a section of this where I'm overdriving the filter with the preamp and IMO it gets a little nasty. Some of you will like that, others maybe not so much, but I think there is still cool stuff after that. This video is a bit long, but that's ok with me.

Thanks for watching!"

Introducing the TTSH ARP 2600 Exercise Bike

The ultimate in DIY via Kenny:

"It's my new creation.

At last, I can work on fat sounds while getting in shape with my TTSH 2600 Exercise Bike.

It's quite robust with only a small to moderate certainty of toppling over.

If you wish to build your own, here is how:

- build a TTSH

- grab an exercise bike and mount flat table on its handles

- place TTSH on top"

TTSH (ARP2600 clone) and ARP sequencer clone 1601

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.

This one was spotted and sent in via M Me.

"This is the TTSH v1 and includes fixes from the v1 recommendations, also have Gate input with Gatebooster to ensure compatibility with most synths that uses positive gate norm. (By default the ARP2600 or TTSH doesnt work with most part of gate signals, so need this adapter circuit to accept all positive gates signals) Also includes a top quality linear power supply with toroidal transformer. You can connect direct to AC using standard cable. This linear power supply ensure better performance than other standard switching regulators and DC DC converters... With this power supply the sounds improves a lot and is better to save from external laptop bricks used in the default configurations. The TTSH being a clone of a classic analog synth like the ARP 2600 improves a lot using a classic linear power supply!
The power supply can work in 100/110 or 220/240v. At this moment is set for 220/240v but can be changed via internal switch easily so can be set for your AC voltage spec before shipping.

Also for sale with it, the ARP Sequencer clone. Replica from the classic ARP Sequencer 1601. Is a pleasure to work with it, very musical and intuitive. The power Supply can run from 100 to 240v with no problem.

Instruments build by hand using classic thru-hole components. Not SMT parts are used.

The instruments were built 3 years ago. Instruments are used in studio only. Excellent/perfect working condition. Instruments can have some minor marks of use, but shape is very good."

Enter Exit - TR-808, Oberheim OB-8, Juno 60, Microwave Rev A, TTSH sequenced by a Cirklon

Published on Nov 17, 2019 instantknut

"It's quite a while since my last video so I wanted to make an awesome return with ninjas, mannequins, trampolines and Lamborghinis. That did not work out.

And because I didn't work out either, wearing the tracksuit was not an option.
Instead you can see me noodling with some nice vintage synths. A triumph against perfection and crippling procrastination!

Synthesizers in this track: Oberheim OB-8, Roland Juno 60, Yamaha DX7, Waldorf Microwave, a Two Thousand Six Hundred. All sequenced by a Sequentix Cirklon. Drums from the Roland TR 808 and the tape delay is a Roland Space Echo RE-101.

Also check out my last album *Dinosaur Ballads* on http://www.solitud.de or the usual streaming sites."
