RIFT - Modular Percussion #10 // Arbhar, Prism, Subharmonicon, Mojave, Matriarch

video upload by David Falcon

"/rɪft/
noun
1. a crack, split, or break in something.
2. a serious break in friendly relations.
__________________________________________________________________________________________________

The objective of this song was to make a percussive patch with the modular. In the Arbhar I have a sample of radio static that I pass through the Qu-bit Prism filter. With a sample and hold from PAM's I modulate it rhythmically creating the rhythmic pattern.
Later on the Moog Subharmonicon I made a Bass Drum patch that I pass through the Qu-Bit Mojave, and thus achieve some hits that are reminiscent of toms making the beat somewhat more complex.

That base layer was recorded for a couple of weeks without me having the chance to add anything else to it. I was going to upload it like this, but I decided to create a bass line with the Analog Four, an arpeggio and a texture with the OP-1 and finally a lead/texture with the Matriarch."

Ambient w/ GAME BOY & OP-1 field, MOOD MK II | Premier 2025-06-27 by atnr

video upload by atnr

"A minimal-ambient piece for Game Boy and ‪@teenageengineering‬ OP-1 field, where the Game Boy’s rustic chip tones weave through soft synth layers.

Game Boy: Sequence built in LSDj. The output runs into a ‪@ChaseBlissAudio‬ MOOD MK II, adding reverb, pitch-shifts, and occasional micro-loops.

OP-1 field: A prerecorded rhythm pattern loops while new synth parts are played live. The signal passes through a ‪@strymon‬ Strymon TIMELINE for delay.

Xylophone & harp phrases: Provided by a YAMAHA MOTIF-RACK ES."

Teenage Engineering OP-XY and Torso Electronics S4

video upload by Luca Longobardi

"It’s been a few days since the new S4 firmware dropped, so I thought I’d give it another chance. Still needs the classic off-and-on ritual. Still forgets to record audio — which, you know, might be kind of a big deal for an instrument. Still, little things here and there.
But this isn’t a rant!
Just a gentle reminder that we’ve reached a strange point where we buy gear that could be amazing… but acts more like a moody teenager on one of their don’t-talk-to-me days.
That said, today — against all odds — I actually had fun.
So here’s the video: proof that even a problematic guy can have his minutes of glory."

Shibasaki MOD - Tokyo set song #4

video upload by Arman Bohn

"My synths and device can be found here:
www.distropolisgoods.com

Song #4 from my set at Shibasaki MOD in Tokyo, April, 2025.

This one starts up with GREAT CONJUNCTION playing a repeating bass line. I bring in the Prismatic Spray MKii for some washed out textures. The GC also provides a slowly evolving melody and some percussive elements.

I dig into the PSMKii for a bit ... exploring some bytebeats.

The GC percussion ends up becoming some generative FM chords and then it is pared down to a simple randomized outro."

Lofi Ambient Beats w/ OP-1 field, LYRA-8, LOSSY | Olive 2025-06-21 by atnr

video upload by atnr

"A track crafted with the ‪@somasynths‬ Lyra-8, ‪@teenageengineering‬ OP-1 field, and ‪@ChaseBlissAudio‬ LOSSY—an ambient beat that layers sounds into a lo-fi atmosphere.

OP-1 field: A master NITRO filter shapes the sound, and the output runs through LOSSY for an overall lo-fi vibe. The rhythm section is pre-recorded, with harmony and synth phrases overdubbed.

Lyra-8: Modulated tones are given a touch of the onboard delay, creating abstract textures.

Microphone (RØDE NT-4): Captures hand-bell hits, which receive reverb and delay in Ableton Live.

Post-production: Omnisphere is added in Ableton to layer a few extra sound effects."

Teenage Engineering Updates for the TX–6 & TP–7

via Teenage Engineering

"The new updates for TX–6 and TP–7 introduce some new features like enhanced sequencer functionality with customizable options, link mode, extended midi functionality, extended gain range, mix-down mode, and more. update your device via our update utility tool and read more about the new functions in the user guides.

TX–6 OS update 1.3.0

TX–6 is our battery-powered ultra portable pro-mixer and multi-functional audio interface with 6 stereo channels, or 12 if you split them to mono. great for quick setups on the go or in your studio. packed with features like effects, midi, usb recording, beat detection, an instrument tuner, synth, sequencer, drum machine, and much more.

user configurable sequencer patterns
alongside the 22 factory-loaded patterns, the TX–6 now supports six additional
user-configurable sequencer pattern slots. each of these allows for per-step pitch assignment, making it possible to compose custom melodic sequences.

pattern chaining
once you’ve made your own sequencer patterns, you can start chaining them together. instead of looping just one pattern, this update lets you combine up to four, giving your tracks more variation.

slide
the TX–6 now includes a slide (portamento) function, allowing precise control over pitch transitions when sequencing waveforms for more refined melodic expression.

Unlocking Creativity with Teenage Engineering OP-XY | Dark-Retro-Futuristic-Distorted Synthwave

video upload by Lo-fi Pask

"The Teenage Engineering OP-XY has a unique way of unlocking creativity — even when inspiration runs low. This video is built around an old OP-XY project I recently unearthed, proof that unfinished ideas can still spark something new.

In this live jam, the Teenage Engineering OP-XY becomes the heart of a dark-retro-futuristic soundscape, blending synthwave grooves, ambient arpeggios, and gritty, distorted textures. A raw and expressive performance shaped by the OP-XY’s playful, hands-on approach to electronic music.

🎧 For the full experience — including subtle textures, punchy bass, and detailed drums — headphones are highly recommended.

Ambient w/ volca fm2, OP-1 field | False Memory 2025-06-16 by atnr

video upload by atnr

"A piece created with the @teenageengineering OP-1 field and @KORG_INC volca fm2. Rubbing stones and bells mix with airy synth tones and fine, grain-like fragments.

OP-1 field: Records the scraped stone and bell sounds, then layers live playing on the internal synth. On NIGHTSKY, adding reverb while adjusting the filter.

volca fm2: Runs a simple sequence; I shift octaves and tempo on the fly, while the @ChaseBlissAudio MOOD MK II adds delay and pitch-shifting."

Glitchy Beats w/ OP-1 field, NTS-3, Reface dx | Last home 2025-06-14 by atnr

video upload by atnr

"A track built with OP-1 field, Reface DX, Prophet-10, and MOTIF-RACK ES—beat-driven music where glitchy rhythms collide with abstract synth harmonies.

OP-1 field: Triggered over MIDI to play the drum pattern; its signal runs through an NTS-3 for looping and tape-delay effects.

Reface DX: Harmony is sequenced via MIDI while I add live touches; a side-chain compressor in Ableton ducks it to the beat.

Prophet-10: Adds additional synth layers.

MOTIF-RACK ES: Supplies strings, flute, and other PCM textures."

Bad Gear - OverPriced-1

"Welcome to Bad Gear, the show about the world’s most-hated audio tools. In light of recent events we are going to talk about OP-1 Field.

While other manufacturers either “pass on savings from process optimization” or relentlessly jack up prices once people are actually buying their music making toys, our favorite interior design company/copyright agency/nepo baby cult just flexed their monstrous marketing muscle and - did both at the same time.

Arp Of Darkness With Seventh Summoner in a small case ‪@FileTransferProtocol‬

video upload by FlatSix Modular

"Playing around with the small case, today. Just wanted to showcase what could be done with an Arp of Darkness and a Seventh Summoner, side by side. Patch notes:

Pam’s Pro clocking everything. Seventh Summoner sequencing and real-time transposing a Braids (pluck program) running through Data Bender, and a MultiVersio on the LoFi program. A couple of Disting MK4’s are running the bass drone on one with an LFO on the other that is modulating a Pittsburgh Modular filter. That’s being sequenced by an Ornament & Crime running the Phaserville Suite. The Arp Of Darkness is arpeggiator a Dust Of Time (swarm program) and that’s running through a Busy Circuits MFX on the 2051 Bit Corrupter program and a stereo delay on another Disting MK4. Finally, there’s an Erica Synths Pico drum running some rhythmic duties and an EP-133 with the main drums off to the side."
