Acire πŸ₯‰(Erica Synths LXR02 & DB01 // Conductive Labs NDLR turning the LXR02 into a polyphonic synth)

video upload by 2-Minute Warning

"If you've already watched a some of my videos, you might know that I sometimes like to divert a few electronic instruments from their use πŸ˜…
So here the challenge was to make the LXR-02 (which is supposed to be mainly a digital drum synth) act as a drum machine & a polyphonic pads synth πŸ˜„

For this, I used the Conductive Labs NDLR sequencer with its polychain feature (on its PAD track) which can turn up to 4 mono synths into a 4-voice polyphonic synth. (I used this feature on another video, this time with 4 physical analog mono synths: [below]).

Therefore I used 3 of the tracks of the LXR-02 to play 3-note chords by the NDLR. I used the LXR's individual output, through the Strymon Bigsky reverb for the PADS (through the Pill ducking pedal being triggered by the LXR's drum kick).

I also used 1 track of the LXR-02 to play the ARP part (also sequenced by the NDLR). This time the individual output went through the Strymon Timeline delay.

The Erica Synths DB-01 was used to play the bass riff (still sequenced by the NDLR) through the Eventide - H9 pedal (with some heavy modulated Chorus bringing a Lo-Fi vibe to the sound!).

* Hardware used *

- BASS : Erica Synths DB-01 Bassline + Eventide H9 (Chorus)
- DRUMS : Sonic Potions x Erica Synths LXR-02 (individual output 1+2)
- PADS : Sonic Potions x Erica Synths LXR-02 + Strymon Bigsky + Pill Pedal (individual output 3)
- RIFF : Sonic Potions x Erica Synths LXR-02 + Strymon Timeline (individual output 4)
- LIVE SEQUENCING : Conductive Labs NDLR"

video upload by 2-Minute Warning

"I wanted to use a couple of the nice features of the NDLR for this video, so I went to set up 6 analog mono synths all sequenced by the NDLR, a couple of effects and the Tanzbar drum machine for this video!

The first feature used here is poly chaining, where 1 track (PAD track) of the NDLR sent 4-note chords to 4 mono synths (Erica Synths - DB01, Make Noise - 0Coast, Roland - SE02 and Novation - Circuit Mono Station), considering them as a unique 4-voice polyphonic synth!

It reminded me a bit me my wonderful Vermona Perfourmer, where each voice of the synth can have different setting regarding the oscillators, envelopes, filter etc. 🀩

I needed to make some quite complex routing in order to be able to side chain the pads with the kick of the MFB - Tanzbar analog drum machine.

I also used the 'chord sequencer' of the NDLR in order to play the whole track as a song (it's like a song mode, where sequences automatically change the global chords).

Here are some further details on the setup:

* PAD: DB01 to SE02 to Bigsky (Right Input) to The Pill Pedal (Input 1) triggered by Tanzbar's kick
* PAD: 0Coast to Circuit Mono Station to Bigsky (Left Input) to The Pill Pedal (Input 2) triggered by Tanzbar's kick

These 4 analog synths were set up in order to respond to the poly chain function of the NDLR (i.e. With a 4-note chord, the NDLR will send each note to one the 4 synths).

* DRONE (Bass): The Moog - Minitaur was being triggered by the DRONE track for the bass.
* MOTIF (Melody): The Arturia - Minibrute 1, through the ZVEX - Instant Lofi Junky & Strymon - Timeline

I forgot to mention that the TanzbΓ€r's main output was processed by the Eventide - H9 (Reverse Delay) effect, excluding its kick which was outputted on its separate output in order to trigger the side chain for the pads on the Pill Pedal."

Tek6 πŸ‘Ύ (Roland TR-6S, J-6, JU-06A + Pill Pedal // Erica Synths DB-01 // Arturia Keystep Pro)

video upload by 2-Minute Warning

"For the 94th 2-Minute video (actually it will rather be "2 x 2-Minute" πŸ˜‰), we are going for a an uplifting "melodic techno" jam, featuring the Roland JU-06A (synth chords), J-6 (synth chords), TR-6S (drums) ; Erica Synths DB-01 (Bass) ; Arturia Keystep Pro for the sequencing and live transposing parts!

The jams begins with the JU-06A playing a pattern sequenced by the Keystep Pro, where I play with the LFO rate modulating the PWM, allowing to transpose the the riff.

Then, enter the Drums with the TR-6S (only one pattern was used here with the TR-6S' internal sequencer, with probability on some sounds to add small variations 🀩) and the bass part played by the DB-01 Bassline (sequenced by the Keystep Pro).

At last the J-6 is being introduced to play some plucky chords: the simple chords have been sequenced on the Keystep Pro, however I used the "Arp/Rhythmic phrase" feature of the synth to make them syncopate.

* Hardware used *
- Roland TR-6S: drums
- Roland JU-06A + Pill Pedal (triggered by the TR-6S) : synth chords
- Roland J-6: synth chords
- Erica Synths DB-01 Bassline: bass
- Arturia Keystep Pro: sequencer"

First jam with the Sequential Take5 analog poly synth (multi-tracked 3 parts: Pads, Lead and Bass)

video upload by 2-Minute Warning

"Just wanted to share with you my first jam with the Sequential Take5, 5-voice analog synth which I just received yesterday 😍

Apart from the drums, all the instrumental parts (actually 3 parts: Pads, Lead and Bass πŸ˜‰) are from the Take 5 synth, where I've been playing with the knobs while recording!

Hope you'll enjoy 😊

Cheers,
2-Minute Warning."

Skyline πŸ•Š️ (Elektron Digitone + Pioneer Rmx-500 // Sequential Take 5 + Strymon Deco 2)

video upload by 2-Minute Warning

"Just wanted to start 2025 with a very simple and smooth 2-Minute jam before moving on to more serious matters 😊

In this jam, the Elektron Digitone is sequencing a couple of patterns playing mainly BELLS and CHIMES (with probability etc.). I'm using the RMX-500 remix station to add reverb (DOWN REVERB) and tremolo (TRANS) effects on the Digitone's output.

The BASS and LEAD part is being played in real-time on the Take 5, which is running through the Strymon Deco 2 pedal which is adding more character and fluctuations to the sound.

0:06 Playing with the REVERB DOWN knob
0:16 Take 5 real-time playing
0:56 Unmuting track 3 & 4 on the Digitone
1:16 Enabling the TRANS effect
1:44 Outro"

Sky Fly πŸ’« (Vermona Perfourmer + Lethargy + H9 + Particle + Bigsky + Pill // Tanzbar // Keystep Pro)

video upload by 2-Minute Warning

"Wishing you a happy New Year for 2023 ! May it be filled with music 🎢, peace πŸ•Š️ and loveπŸ’•!
After experimenting during the last month of 2022 by publishing 7 'Shorts' let's start 2023 with a more than 2-minute video in order to compensate a bit this special month of December πŸ˜…

So for this one, only the Vermona Perfourmer was used for the synth parts (Bass, Arp & Pads) and MFB Tanzbar for the drum parts, with both instruments sequenced by the Arturia Keystep Pro.

* Hardware used *
- SYNTH: Vermona Perfourmer
- BASS (Voice1) Dry
- ARP (Voice2) + Dreadbox Lethargy (Analog Phaser) + Eventide H9 Max (Vintage Delay engine)
- PADS (Voices3&4) + Red Panda Particle 2 (Granular Delay / Pitch Shifting Pedal) + Strymon Bigsky (Reverb) + Pill (ducking pedal, triggered by the kick from Tanzbar)
- DRUMS: MFB Tanzbar
- SEQUENCER: Arturia Keystep Pro"

Aureate πŸ“€ (Sequential Take 5 // Elektron Digitone + Red Panda Particle + Strymon Deco 2) Chords Jam

video upload by 2-Minute Warning

"No sequencers were harmed during this recording! πŸ˜„ Just wanted to roam with some chords played live on the Take 5 analog synth. Further on I introduced the Digitone FM synth where I used 3 tracks (with 3 different sounds), where 2 of the tracks have their integrated ARPEGGIO enabled, with different settings in order to add some rhythmic complexity to the jam πŸ₯

The Digitone is being fed into the Particle 2 granular delay then the Deco pedal, in order to add random variations to the FM sounds and some kind of LO-FI vibes!

The MIDI Out of the Take 5 synth is triggering the Digitone. Hence both synths are playing the same notes. However the 2 ARPs on the Digitone help bring the syncopated sounds.

I think that the blending of the analog and digital synths here, makes the global sound and texture of this jam sound quite interesting! Hope you liked it too? 😊

* Hardware used *

// PADS:
- Sequential Take 5 (5-voice analog synth)

// CHIMES:
- Elektron Digitone (8-voice FM groovebox) + Red Panda Particle 2 (granular delay and pitch shifter) + Strymon Deco 2 (tape saturation & doubletracker)"

Last Pill πŸ’Š (Nymphes + Deco2 // S1 + H90 // Drumbrute Impact + H90 + Pill // Keystep Pro)

video upload by 2-Minute Warning

"Here's a long video to end 2024 on a high note! 😁 If you want to skip the 'build from scratch', you can jump to 2:00 πŸ˜‰

3 instruments were used for this track:
The Dreadbox Nymphes for the CHORDS and LEAD
The Roland S-1 for the BASS
The Arturia Drumbrute Impact (DBI) for the DRUMS
With everything sequenced by the Arturia Keystep Pro (KSP).

1- The video starts with me recording in STEP mode 3 CHORDS, and setting the pattern's length to 3 steps (Track 3 of the KSP).
2- I then record 2 notes for a 3-step pattern for the BASS (Track 2 of the KSP).
3- I quickly switch to the DRUM pattern recording (Track 1 of the KSP), where I used some of the nice features of the KSP's sequencer (Time Shift, Randomness)
4- For the live performance, it's mainly me transposing in real-time on the KSP and playing with the sound parameters of the 3 instruments (Cutoff, Decay, Reverb etc.).

0:01 Recording the different parts
1:51 Build
2:06 Drop
2:36 Looper break
3:13 Full decay on the KICK
3:25 Opening the decay on the OPEN HIHAT

Fragile πŸƒ (Roland TR-6S Rhythm Performer // S-1 Tweak Synth // J-6 Chord Synth)

video upload by 2-Minute Warning

"Here's a 2x 2-Minute jam featuring 3 little boxes from Roland: the TR-6S (Drums), the S-1 (Bass and Arp) and the J-6 (Pads) 🐺

I've recorded a few patterns of each of the 3 instruments which are being chained up live in this jam.

On the DRUMS side played by the TR6S, there is quite a lot going on: I mainly used the Analog Circuit Behavior and FM Engines for the drum sounds. I used a few of the real time performance tools available: STEP LOOP, FILL IN, MASTER FX (Fuzz). I also took advantage of the polymectri capabilities of the sequencer, where the KICK's sequence length is different from the rest of the pattern (on the first part, it's a 6-step sequence playing, and on the last part, a 5-step sequence πŸ˜‰).

For the BASS & ARP parts, I used the S1 (which fortunately is polyphonic πŸ˜ƒ). I also played with its integrated 'Riser' effect for the transitions.

I recorded 3 patterns on the J-6, among which the last one is being syncopated thanks its 'phrase type' feature (a bit like an arpeggiator effect). The J-6 is being synced to the S-1 by their analog clocks (through the translucent cable, where you can see a little red LED lightening up with each clock pulse coming into the J-6)."

Fissure πŸ’” (Hapax 2.0 // Perfourmer Mk2 + H9 + Pill // TR6S // LXR02 // JU06 + Deco v2)

video upload by 2-Minute Warning

"February 2024, back to the 2-Minute format! (well actually it was a 4:30 jam with a bridge, an outro with different chords etc. but had to justify a bit the name of the channel I think πŸ˜…)

This jam is built around a 10-step pattern from the Hapax sequencing the Perfourmer (through the H9 reverb and Pill ducking pedal, triggered by a GATE track from the Hapax). To make this 10-step pattern which drives the whole track sound a bit more complex, I made it play with 3 different voices of the Perfourmer (this is one of the main reasons I bought a Perfourmer a few years ago!). Hence each note is playing a voice with a different oscillator. So it's a 10-step sequence where the oscillators are being played in round robin mode each 3 notes. To make it even more spicy, I also used the Hapax's real-time RANDOMIZER MIDI effect which is transposing some notes randomly!

For the PERCUSSIVE parts, we are in a more classic mode with the main DRUMS being played by the TR-6S and the secondary DRUMS by the LXR-02 (both still sequenced by the Hapax).

And the BASS, is being played by the JU-06A through the DECO v2 pedal."

Dreamer πŸ’ (Sequential Take 5 + H90 / Nymphes + Microtubes X / 0Coast + Timeline / TR6S / Hapax)

video upload by 2-Minute Warning

"Back to the ~2-minute format πŸ˜…

In this track, the Hapax is sequencing all the instruments, starting with the Take 5 where I tweak a few knobs. Then comes the BASS played by the Nymphes. For this sound, I used its LFO's delay parameter. Thus you first hear the sound without any modulation, then comes the syncopated part at the end of the sound! I finally launch the LEAD part played by the 0-Coast through the Timeline delay and DRUMS, played by the TR-6S. The Hapax FILL button is being used here to activate a couple of MIDI effects on the different tracks.

Hardware used *

// πŸ₯ DRUMS: Roland TR-6S (Digital Rhythm Performer)
// 🎸 BASS: Dreadbox Nymphes (6-voice analog synth) + Darkglass Microtubes X (Multiband analog Distortion)
// 🎹 PLUCKS: Sequential Take 5 (5-voice analog synth) + Eventide H90
// 🎸 LEAD: Make Noise 0-Coast (semi-modular analog mono synth) + Strymon Timeline (Ice Delay)
// SEQUENCER: Squarp Instruments Hapax

Recorded in one shot and mixed in Ableton Live."

Lux πŸ”† (Erica Synths LXR-02 + Oto Boum Compressor // Ableton Move 1.5 // Arturia Keystep Pro)

video upload by 2-Minute Warning

"2 minutes, no warning! πŸ₯³
In this video, I really wanted to make use of the 1.5 new features of the Ableton Move like sequencing the different tracks of the Move from another sequencer (Keystep Pro here) and its new Auto Filter effect 🀩 (I was really waiting for these 2 updates!).

So the track starts with DRUMS played and sequenced by the LXR-02, through the Oto Machines Boum stereo analog compressor.
I then introduce the Move by opening the new Auto Filter effect.
The Move is playing some secondary percussions (Track 1), the BASS (Track 2, sequenced by Track 2 of the Keystep Pro), the ARP (Track 3 of the Move, sequenced by Track 3 of the Keystep Pro) and the CHORDS (Track 4 of the Move, sequenced by Track 4 of the Keystep Pro).

So with this setup, I was able to transpose in real-time the instruments played by the Move πŸ˜ƒ

Hardware used *

// DRUMS
Erica Synths x Sonic Potions LXR-02 v1.7 (digital drum machine an integrated sequencer, 6 different instruments) + Oto Machines Boum (full analog stereo warming unit)

Pure Mat ❤️ (Moog Matriarch Dark // Arturia Keystep Pro) live jam, analog synth, raw sound

video upload by 2-Minute Warning

"Pure Matriarch raw sound: that was the main idea behind this jam!
I used the Arturia Keystep Pro to play the Matriarch mainly for 2 reasons: the chord memory and scale features of the KSP and the easiness to visualize the notes being played by the Keystep's ARP πŸ˜ƒ

What's happening?
1- The jam starts with only one oscillator playing on the Matriarch. I then gradually open up the filter and mix in the 3 other oscillators.
2- At the end I switch on the SYNC on the Matriarch and we can clearly hear the sharp and metallic sound, very characteristic of synced oscillators 🀘
3-The lovely analog stereo delay is playing an important role here in the sound as it is adding fluctuations (its time and feedback being respectively modulated by its 2 LFOs) and stereo width.
4-Note that I used on the Matriarch the SPLIT VCA mode where the Filter Envelope Generator signal controls the level of VCA 1 (Left output), and the Amplitude Envelope Generator signal controls the level of VCA 2 (Right output).

Duo Mono πŸ‘₯ (Make Noise 0-Coast + H9 // Moog DFAM + Multicomp // Arturia Keystep Pro)

video upload by 2-Minute Warning

"Going quite minimalist again with this jam featuring only 2 semi-modular analog mono synth (0-Coast & DFAM) and 2 effects (Eventide H9 & EBS Multicomp).

The Arturia Keystep Pro (KSP) was used to sequence both instruments (although I also used the DFAM's 8-step sequencer too πŸ˜„). I used 3 tracks on the KSP:
* Track1 - sending gates to sync the 0-Coast clock (for its Sample & Hold LFO) and to the DFAM
* Track 2 - sending CV to the DFAM to transpose its 8-step sequence (with some CV being sent with a 20% probability)
* Track 4 - sending CV & Gate to the 0-Coast to play the main riff (on 2 patterns).

So no MIDI involved for this time, only CV/gate sent between the Keystep Pro, 0-Coast and DFAM πŸ˜‰

* Hardware used *
- SEQUENCE : Make Noise 0-Coast + Eventide H9 (Tape Delay)
- DRUMS/BASS: Moog DFAM +Erica EBS Multicomp
- Sequencer: Arturia Keystep Pro (+ DFAM's integrated 8-step sequencer)"

Sisters πŸ‘©‍❤️‍πŸ‘© (Vermona Perfourmer Mk2 + H9 // DRM-1 Mk4 + Bigsky + Lethargy // Arturia Keystep Pro)

video upload by 2-Minute Warning

"As I've been posting a couple of Youtube Shorts lately, I made this "very long" video this time (the longest one on the channel, other than the "Going live at home video" https://youtu.be/qgIxJwxzqlA 😊).

For this one, I used 2 analog instruments (Perfourmer Mk2 and DRM-1 Mk4) sequenced by the Keystep Pro (KSP) https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list....
I made heavy use of a lot of cool features of the KSP like: polymeter, randomness, step skip, looper, transposing within scale, scenes, individual drum mutes, quick toggle between 2 drum patterns (this one is a bit of a trick of mine) 🀩

So the track starts with the KSP's Track 4 sequencing voices 3 & 4 of the Perfourmer (going through the H9 using its tape delay effect, where you can clearly hear the nostalgic "wow & flutter").

I then unmute the KICK and SNARE (played by the DRM-1) abd BASS (played by the Perfourmer, but going out DRY by its seperate audio output).

The other tracks are then unmuted and I start to transpose live the played sequences (you know I love this feature, right?).

Further on I use the KSP's "Scene" feature to load different patterns for the "chorus" part.
You can hear me playing with some parameters of the DRM-1's CLAP sound, which is going through the Dreadbox Lethargy analog phaser (using the DRM-1's handy insert jack!).
I also trigger manually a couple of times the MULTI voice of the DRM-1 (which is going through the Bigsky reverb), for the build etc.

The track then heads to a more "experimental" outro part consisting of 5 step patterns (where I shifted the analog phaser from the CLAP insert jack to the HIHAT2 insert jack).

* Hardware used *

// BASS:
- Vermona Perfourmer Mk2 Voice 1

// SYNTHS:
- Vermona Perfourmer Mk2 Voice 2, Voices 3&4 + Eventide H9 Max (tape delay) + Pill (ducking pedal, triggered by the KICK from DRM-1)

// DRUMS:
- Vermona DRM-1 Mk4 (8-voice analog drum synth) with Strymon Bigsky reverb (on the MULTI's output) and Dreadbox Lethargy analog phaser (on the CLAP's output in insert mode, then HIHAT2)

// SEQUENCER:
- Arturia Keystep Pro"

Ram ♈ (Waldorf M + Analog Heat + Rooms + Pill // TR6S // Minitaur // S1 + Particle // Keystep Pro)

video upload by 2-Minute Warning

"A 4-minute uptempo jam for the first video of 2024! πŸŽ‰ May all your wishes come true this year!

The Arturia Keystep Pro (KSP) is sequencing:
- the PADS played by the Waldorf M through the Elektron Analog Heat MkII (using mainly its analog filter modulated by one of its LFO) + Rooms reverb + Pill ducking pedal (triggered by the kick from the TR-6S).
- the BASS played by the Moog Minitaur. I used the 'Chain' patterns of the KSP to make a long bass line.

The DRUMS are being sequenced/played by the Roland TR-6S (I used its onboard filter on the master BUS for the builds).

And the LEAD sound played in real time on the Roland S-1 synth, through the Red Panda Particle 2 granular delay."

Register ®️ (0-Coast + Timeline // Perfourmer + H90 // TR-6S // Nymphes // Squarp sequencer)

video upload by 2-Minute Warning

"I really wanted to make use of a lot of MIDI effects of the Hapax hardware sequencer in this jam! πŸ˜ƒ
So nearly all of the sequences you'll here coming from the 0-Coast, Perfourmer and Nymphes, have been recorded with very few notes.
The rhythmic and chords richness are mainly coming from the onboard MIDI effects. Thus:

🎸 BASS (0-Coast):
The track starts with the 0-Coast playing a simple pattern, which gets a bit more complex when I add more PULSES on the EUCLID effect of the Hapax. There's also a RANDOM MIDI effect on this track which from time to time, transposes some notes to 1 or 2 octaves.

🎢 ARP (Perfourmer):
The Perfourmer then gets introduced progressively, sequenced by Track 2 of the Hapax where actually, no notes where recorded! Every note you are hearing are being generated in real-time by the REGISTER MIDI effect. I also used the SCALER effect for the generated notes not to go out of scale πŸ˜‰

🎹 CHORD STABS (Nymphes):
I used the RANDOM + HARMO + SCALER MIDI effects here to transform the single notes recorded to the cool CHORD STABS!

πŸ₯ DRUMS (TR-6S):
The drum parts are played by the TR-6S using only the Analog Circuit Behavior engine (i.e. no samples used) for the drum sounds. I didn't use the TR-6S' sequencer here but the Hapax, in order to be able to swap between different patterns on only one machine (Hapax)."

Euclid (Waldorf M + H90 // 0Coast + Timeline // Nymphes + Julianna // TR6S // Hapax)

video upload by 2-Minute Warning

"I am continuing my deeper exploration of the vast possibilities offered by the Hapax 🀩

In this jam I loaded on the Hapax, the "definition files" for the Nymphes and TR-6S, and I have to say that it really opens up the possibilities to easily automate or modulate parameters on the synths (used for example here to modulate the pitch of some drum sounds or to add the noise oscillator of the Nymphes on some notes only etc.)

0:00 - The track starts with the 0-Coast playing a syncopated bass line thanks to the EUCLID MIDI effect of the Hapax, and with the M playing the main RIFF.

0:36 - I then fade in the Nymphes playing the pulsating (thanks to an EUCLID MIDI effect too) detuned CHORDS thru the Julianna analog chorus pedal (adding the wide stereo effect).

0:55 - The drum parts are played by the TR-6S using only the Analog Circuit Behavior engine (i.e. no samples used) for the drum sounds, with its VINYL SIM effect on the master bus squashing the DRUMS! 🀘 Also, I didn't use the TR-6S' sequencer here but the Hapax, in order to be able to swap between different patterns on only one machine (Hapax) + to use the FILL button on the Hapax to add breaks on the DRUM track too + I used 2 LFOs on the Hapax to control parameters on the TR-6S (as the TR-6S only has 1 LFO πŸ˜…)

1:40 - Bridge (only M synth)

1:55 - 4 to the floor part

2:38 - Outro

All the transposition are done in real-time on the Hapax (using Track 16)."

Shuffle Trip πŸ”€ (Elektron Digitone + Particle + Deco // Korg Drumlogue // Sequential Take 5)

video upload by 2-Minute Warning

"This track starts with a PAD sound sequenced and played by the Elektron Digitone (Polyphonic Digital Synthesizer). I then enable the Doubletracker effect (on the Strymon Deco 2 tape simulation pedal) and unmute 2 other tracks on the Digitone, playing a LEAD and CHIMES sounds.

Enters the Korg Drumlogue (analog and digital drum machine) with some DRUMS (I used only one drum pattern where I made use of STEP probability to add some variations to the pattern).

And finally the BASS line played by the Sequential Take 5, sequenced by one MIDI track of the Digitone. In order to create this beefy dirty BASS sound, I use the onboard OVERDRIVE and DISTORTION effect of the synth! 😎🀘 The BASS line is also playing in triplets to add an odd groove to the track (it wasn't so easy to program on the Digitone MIDI track as I needed to shift each notes off the grid manually πŸ˜…).

Hope you'll enjoy!"
