Doepfer A-111-6 Miniature Synthesizer Voice

Published on Nov 27, 2019 Alex4

"In this video we explore the new A-111-6 module from Doepfer. A complete synthesizer in only 10hp. This module offers more than you might expect - with its complex routing you are able to mix and match three different waveforms and a sub-oscillator, you can add an external input and of course do PWM and FM. You can use the filter as a sine wave VCO and switch the envelope from AD to ADSR to AR and so on.
And it is also available as a vintage edition in black."

Doepfer A111-6 Sound Demo (no talking)

Published on May 27, 2019 Bonedo Synthesizers

A-111-6 Miniature Synthesizer

Module A-111-6 is a complete miniature monophonic synthesizer module that has these features available:

VCO
Tune: manual tune control (with an internal jumper the range can be set to ~ +/-1 half an octave or ~ +/-2.5 octaves)
Oct.: range switch -1 / 0 / +1 octave
Mod.: modulation depth (attenuator wired to the Mod. socket)
Dest.: switch that is used to address the modulation to frequency modulation (position FM) or pulsewidth modulation (positon PM), in center positon no modulation
PW: manual pulsewidth control for rectangle waveform, PW can be also modulated by the Mod. input as mentioned above
Wave: waveform switch (sawtooth / off / triangle), the sum of the waveform chosen by this switch and the rectangle is fed into the VCF (to turn the rectangle off the PW control has to be set fully CCW or fully CW)
1V/Oct. (socket): external CV input for VCO frequency (1V/octave)
access to internal bus CV (via jumper, optional, please remove the bus jumper if this feature is not used to avoid unwanted frequency modulation as then the unused CV line of the bus works as a kind of antenna)
triangle core VCO, frequency range about 32Hz ... 8kHz (??? still to be specified)
Balance unit

The balance unit is made of two VCAs which are controlled by the sum of manual Balance control and the balance CV input in the opposite direction.
The audio input of VCA1 is hard-wired to the VCO output, audio input 2 is connected to the socket Ext.In.
The output of the balance unit is used as audio input for the VCF
Bal.: manual balance control, fully CCW the internal VCO is used, fully CW the external signal (Ext.In) is used, at center position both signals have about the same level
CV Bal.: CV input for balance (range about 0...+5V)
Ext. In: external audio input for VCA2, about 5 Vpp level required for similar loudness as the internal VCO
this socket is normalled to the internal VCO suboctave f/2 signal (rectangle with half the frequency), if no external signal is applied the suboctave signal is used as the second signal for the balance unit

Doepfer Product Announcements for SUPERBOOTH21

via Doepfer

"Superbooth 2021 is just around the corner. The Superbooth team around Andreas Schneider managed it with their hygiene and safety measures that the event can happen and personal contacts are possible again. The Superbooth takes place from 15 to 18.09.2021 in Berlin. More information is available at the Superbooth Website. We plan to present these new products and would be happy to welcome you at our booth (presumably B047 in the 'Bungalow-Dorf')."

Left: (A-100PB with a keyboard built into the lid, 37 keys, midi interface with 3.5 mm stereo jack socket)

This is the "small brother" of the monster base A-100PMB. It is very similar to the A-100PMB but has only half the width (2 x 84 HP for installation of modules). The suitcase versions A-100P6 or A-100P9 can be positioned on top of the A-100PB because the width of the A-100PB is a bit more than the width of A-100P6/P9 and the footprint of the A-100PB is adapted to the depth of A-100P6/P9. A-100PB is equipped with one power supply (1200mA) and two bus boards. The bus boards are located in the rear area (even those for the modules that are mounted in the front row). This was necessary to take advantage of the full height of the front area for installation of A-100 modules.

Analogue Solutions Telemark Meets Doepfer & Greets Kraftwerk

Telemark Easter Monday Fun.wmv

YouTube Uploaded by jakobsweb on Apr 25, 2011

"The wonderful Analogue Solutions Telemark filter modulated by 2 Doepfer A-155 sequencers, gate by Telemark, triggered by Cubase 6;
accompanied by a pad from the Roland JX 8-P, bass by A-100 modular and drums by Vermona DRM1 MKIII.
All done with a friendly wink at rezfilter who inspired me a lot .... (still waiting for my Oberkorn)"

Telemark meets Doepfer

Uploaded by jakobsweb on Mar 13, 2011

"This is a song made with my very new synthesizer Telemark by Analogue Solutions. It's semi-modular and thus goes very well with my other modular and semi-modular stuff. The intro sound is done with the Telemark as well as another later on. It has a great sounding 12db multimode filter.
The other stuff I used in this song are: two Doepfer A-100 systems, Cwejman S1 MK2, DSI Prophet 08, Vermona analog drums DRM1 MKIII, Moog Voyager ... and a lil' drumloop ... all arranged, mixed and mastered using Cubase 6 and some Waves plug-ins. Feel free and invited to comment or ask questions. Enjoy!

Here is a list of some of the Doepfer A-100 modules that I used in case you are interested:
A-111 (3x), A-108, A-140, A-141, A-143-1, A-143-2, A-143-3, A-183-2, A-121, A-110 (3x), A-188-1, A-130, A-131, A-138a, A-138b, A-138m, A-151, A-180, A-134 (2x), A-181 (2x)
The Telemark was modulated by Doepfer A-147 (VC-LFO) - 2 times via multiple.
The Cwejman's LFO was gate triggered by the Doepfer A-160 clock divider."

Last Time Playing This Patch Before Unplugging Everything

video upload by Izntrik

"Just a streamed synthesizer techno, electronic, and ambient jam session. Less polished than live shows, more for practice and experimentation. It's almost time to ruin this patch and move a bunch of modules around to expand my live setup into two eurorack cases instead of one. More drums, more control, more fun! Gets a little experimental at the end. Enjoy the synths!

Patch Notes:
Intellijel Metropolix is the sequencing Plaits and Doepfer A-111-6. Zadar is sidechaining, modulating morph on Plaits, and pulse width modulation on the Doepfer. Basimilus Iteritas Alter switches between quantized voltages from the Polar 8 and also sample and hold pitches from Metropolix with triggers from the euclidean sequencer running on Ornament and Crime Hemispheres, runs into the WMD C4RBN filter for wavefolding and saturation. Tesseract Modular Polar8 is controlling delays, drum density, resonance, saturation, A-111-6 pitch, euclidean offset, and BIA pitch. Prok and Pico Drums are being triggered by the 6equencer and Dnipro Dot. Endorphin Ghosts, ALM MFX, and Qu-Bit Prism for effects.

New Doepfer Eurorack Modules

"Module A-150-8 contains eight manually/voltage controlled switches. Each of the eight switches has a manual control button (Man.), a control voltage input (CV), a common Out / Input (O/I), and two In / Outputs (I/O1, I/O2). The switches are bi-directional, i.e. they can work in both directions, so can connect one input to either of two outputs, or either of two inputs to one output. Two LEDs show which in / output is active (i.e. which is connected to the common out / input). In addition the LEDs are used for the programming of the module:

For each unit the operating mode can be selected: Toggle or Level controlled. In Toggle mode the rising edge of the CV input or operating the manual control button changes the state of the switch. In Level mode the switch state is defined by the voltage applied to the CV input (low voltage = I/O1, high voltage = I/O2) or by the state of the manual control button (not pressed = I/O1, pressed = I/O2). The modes are programmed very easily: Operating the Toggle/Level button of the program section displays the current state of each switch with the LEDs: left LED on = Toggle mode, right LED on = Level mode. Operating the manual control button of the switch in question changes the toggle/level mode while the Toggle/Level button of the program section is operated. During the programming possibly patched CV signals have to be removed as the CV signals would interfere with the manual operating buttons during the programming process.

In addition it's possible to define master/slave groups. In such a group the upper unit (= master) controls also the state of the following switches provided that they are defined as slaves. Master/slave programming is also very simple: Operating the Master/Slave button of the program section displays the current state of each switch with the LEDs: left LED on = Master, right LED on = Slave. Operating the manual control button of the switch in question changes the master/slave mode while the Master/Slave button of the program section is operated. During the programming possibly patched CV signals have to be removed as the CV signals would interfere with the manual operating buttons during the programming process.
When all 8 units are defined as master all switches are independent from each other. If for example the sequence is MSSSMSMS the control unit of the first switch also controls the switches 2, 3 and 4. The control unit of switch 5 also controls the switch 6, and the control unit of switch 7 also controls the switch 8. The current states of the slave switches are overwritten by the state of the master switch.

Technical note: To protect the electronic switches in case of an unsuitable patch (e.g. connection of two outputs) a 1k protection resistor is inserted into the O/I line of each switch. If control voltages used for VCOs are switched this may cause a small voltage drop and lead to undesired audible detuning. For this application we recommend to insert a CV buffer between A-150-8 and the VCO(s), e.g. the Buffered Multiple A-180-3 or the Precision Adder A-185-2. Integrating the buffers into the module A-150-8 was not possible because this would ruin the bidirectionality of the switches."

Buchla 100 meets a 259

Published on Dec 6, 2013 DJjondent·213 videos

"Playing around with a 259 clone.
The Buchla 100's vintage 123 sequencer is
sending CV to the 259's mod index, pitch & timbre inputs.
Tweaking the mod index & timbre knobs produces some interesting
results.

The audio outs of the 259 are fed into a vintage 111 ring modulator.
The square wave output of the 259 is fed into a 194 filter and then
through the 190 reverb.
The 130 envelope detector is receiving a sine wave from a 158.
The CV out of the 130 is being used to modulate the first channel of the 107 voltage controller mixer"

"Just a few more experiments with a 259 clone to test its range of sounds.
I really love this module. Incredible OMFG sounding. It makes me wonder what a original vintage one sounds like.???
This vid is totally unedited. Recorded live & in one take.

Anyway, the Buchla 100's three rows of the 123 sequencer is
sending CV to the 259

Top row of the 123 goes to pitch,
Middle row - mod index.
Bottom row to timbre input.

Using the 114 keyboard I can step through each stage to trial the different
sounds available.

further idea what's available esp when mod is set to sub audio).

Buchla 100 meets a 259 (Part III)

Published on Dec 10, 2013 DJjondent·214 videos

"This patch is a development from the previous 259 patch.

The Buchla 100's 123 sequencer is not being used as a traditional
sequencer. In this experiment it's acting like a "preset manager"
Each of the 8 steps has its own CV & gate settings. It effect they are my 8 preset sounds for the 259.

Top row of the 123 goes to mod index.
Middle row - timbre input
Bottom row to harmonics.
The 180 attack generator is modulating a 291 filter (not visible in this video.)
And the white cord that i patch into the CV in of the modulation Osc comes from the
alternate pulse out of the 140 timing pulse generator.

The sequencer used is a J3RK Flip Flop.

3 increasingly weird ways to program a TR-606 module (but keep it satisfying)

video upload by mylarmelodies

"This is a blend of: A 606 clone eurorack module demo (the LPZW/Tubbutec 6m0d6), and a tutorial - laced with tips and tricks - exploring three increasingly weird ways to trigger and modulate (drum) modules in general - using Gate & CV, Trigger Riot, and sneaky tricks in Ableton Live & MIDI. The overall theme is: Keeping the results 'musical' and satisfying.

We'll also make a generative sequencer with the Mutable instruments stages and use it to control the excellent Doepfer A-111-6. We'll drive it with the Music Thing Mini Drive. We'll turn the Tiptop Audio Trigger Riot into a modulation sequencer. We'll then use Ableton Live and we'll absolutely smash this thing to bits with some simple but very interesting methods to get completely wild patterns, that would take a LOT of modules to do in analog-land.

Happy days."

NAMM 2020: Doepfer Made a Joystick Controller With A New Axis!!

Published on Jan 17, 2020 sonicstate

Try taking that on a flight...

"With the proliferation of the Eurorack format, Doepfer sometimes get pushed to the side however if you can look past the utilitarian front panels then you'll see that Dieter Doepfer is continually making really useful, interesting and feature packed modules.

The Doepfer A-174-4 is a joy stick controller that gives you a ton of cv outputs. 4 quadrant outputs, xyz rotation and a gate. We also took a look at a few other modules that have been added to the a-100 line this year."

A-111-6 featured as well.
