Paraphonic setup with Therevox, Erebus and Dark Energy

"Connected the Therevox ET-4.3 and the Dreadbox Erebus v2 together to create 4 note chords.

The Doepfer Dark Energy creates the "drum" sounds and is triggered by its own LFO.

The Envelope output on the Erebus is connected to the Expression input on the Therevox and controls its VCA.
The Ring output on the Therevox is connected to the CV input on the Erebus and controls its pitch.
The two oscillators on the Erebus are 2 octaves apart and the pitch is relative to the Ring position on the Therevox.
The pitch of the two oscillators on the Therevox is tuned 19 semitones (1 octave plus a 5th) above and 24 semitones (2 octaves) above, relative to the lowest C on the keyboard controller.

For example, if you play a D with the ring on the Therevox and a C and D# on the keyboard, you will get a D minor chord with the notes from lowest to highest: D, A, D and F.

The "drums" from the Dark Energy is a single track with EQ automation (mostly high-pass filter) to emulate different drum sounds.

All the instruments are recorded live and no other instrument tracks were added, just effects (delay, reverb, etc.).

"Hey y'all, I am bringing you a brand new piece of amazing awesome-sauce part Seven!!! Day 7
These are my thoughts after using this phenomenal machine for a week, granted I have limited experience with the whole MPC system and a million things to learn. This has been an amazing week learning and growing and I truly believe that anyone can pick and use this fantastic machine. It definitely will take some dedication and a lot of learning but everything is all right there in the Key 37. I set a goal for myself to do a weeks worth of sessions and I am hooked and want to do more. As I am exploring this machine ideas are just flowing and that is a really good feeling. The easiest way to start is with a drum kit which provides you with a set of 16 drums and sounds to choose from to make a custom beat. You then can add an additional drum kit or single sounds to round out your beat. The Key 37 also offers a dedicated button to be able to go right to your keyboard sounds/ Plug ins that will get you going quick. Straight out of the box it comes pre loaded with all of this and AKAI offers additional bundles so you will never get bored or tired of the same sounds. I have not learned to chop samples yet but with STEMS coming out you'll be able to make your own custom samples. I look forward to exploring and sharing what I learn in my Sessions/Tracks to come. This is a personal journey, and whether you choose to share your music or keep it for yourself, don't let the outside noise distract you from creating -the process should be fun and should make you happy. This session I created a beat that is suiting for a conclusion to my first week with the MPC Key 37. Who becomes silverware first? - 10 minute LFO filter sweep and semi-generative Eurorack jam

"This sonic experiment was inspired by the Dreadbox Erebus LFO having a whopping 10-minute long cycle time. Therefore, I thought it might be fun to run that LFO into every single filter I have with a CV input, including big analog polys with a VCF control input on the back intended for expression pedals. The honorary VCFs include: 2x Roland System-500 521, G-Storm Electro SH-2 and SH-5, Dreadbox Erebus, Oberheim OB-X8 (OB-X SEM LP mode), Sequential/Oberheim OB-6, Roland Juno-6.

Interestingly the filters on the big polys don't open all the way. I assume this has something to do with the inputs being calibrated for expression pedals rather than Eurorack CV. According to my oscilloscope, the Erebus LFO range is -5v and +5v. This is pretty typical for Eurorack. I set the cutoff at about 50% for all the filter modules. This seemed to work perfectly. But I was not able to do that with the polys. With the cutoff at 50%, the filters would open up all the way, but they wouldn't close nearly enough. I had to bring the cutoff completely down, and as a result, the filters on the polys wouldn't open up all the way. I did alternate takes where I walked around and tried to smoothly nudge each one up in order to get the filters fully open, but that was a disaster. In retrospect, I could have set up a one-shot MIDI LFO to do this and triggered it once at the right moment, but I already had enough things to worry about.

One of my audio interfaces is dead or dying, and it keeps ruining takes and sometimes crashes Logic. I finally turned it off and went with my lone Focusrite Scarlett 8i6, which has always been solid. But now I had an extra synth without an input and I wanted to have the polys on their own tracks so that I could blend them in with the Eurorack stuff to taste. And there's no possible way I could overdub since the whole point is to have one LFO sweeping all of the filters at the same time. I ended up resorting to an old 1989 JVC cassette deck to record the OB-6. So that shot at the opening of the video is legit. There's such a big wall of sound here that it's impossible to tell if it ended up adding any saturation. It definitely added some hiss and crackles but that's fine in this context. The cassette itself is ancient, cheap consumer grade, 60 minutes per side. I ended up recording over some 90's black metal that had been there since, well, the 90's.

To add to the grit and grime, I intentionally ran the filters from the Eurorack straight into the audio interface, bypassing the typical flow through VCAs. Ok, fine, I totally forgot about the VCAs, but it sounded extra dirty, so I didn't stress out too much. I certainly wasn't going to power everything back on, tune everything up and do another take because of it.

Obviously when the filters are closed or nearly closed for several minutes, there needs to be something to fill that gap. That's where the generative stuff comes in. There's 3 different sample and hold circuits feeding different things, including back into themselves in one case. Some voltage is running through different logic gates in conjunction with other, steady LFOs. Since I'm out of filters, the sound consists of pink noise through a VCA, triggered at random by a very short decay envelope. This runs into a recovery tape delay module, that gives sort of a slapback effect.Then there's a single oscillator, pitch controlled by another S/H circuit run through a quantizer and then running into the spring reverb tank. It's also triggered by the same random voltages triggering the noise hits. Then there's the Mutable Instruments Plaits, making the plinky plonky sounds, again everything triggered at random. It's running into the majestic Calsynth Typhoon.

The last thing to note is that the Erebus LFO also acts like an automated fader to increase and decrease the level of the VCA where all the rhythmic sounds are running through. I simply inverted the signal of the LFO output to do this. As the filters open up, the VCA level diminishes. When the filters fully close, the VCA level increases to maximum.

Last last thing. That knob twisting near the beginning isn't for sci-fi FX, though that's an added bonus. I was simply trying to get the LFO back to its "starting position." I didn't quite succeed. I don't believe the Erebus has any sort of LFO triggering mechanism to help with this. All good though.

"Yves has done it again with his new Delorean Dream 3 pack. This is me GTracks using the Novation Circuit and the Delorean Dream 3 pack to create multiple sessions to bring you this Track. The work flow is a little different from the Circuit Tracks and I am not as perfect as I would like to be with the timing but the grittiness of the Circuit still shines through. Yves Big City Mastering has created this pack with huge sounds and patches that stand out from the rest. This is the beginning of a series of Tracks using this pack and the Novation Circuit and the Novation Circuit Tracks to bring you along for an unforgettable ride. I can't say enough about the pack and the samples! They are great and everyone should have this pack in there components software. Introducing DC-ZERO – a vintage synth for Native Instruments Kontakt. Inspired by an iconic synthesizer of the 80s, known for the charming sound of its DCOs, the distinctive and fat chorus, and of course, its easy-to-use workflow.

As the first part of this new synthesizer theme product line for Kontakt “Fusion series” – as the name might suggest – the fusion of wavetables and multisamples, combining both paths of sound generation together as a powerful synergy, allowing more creative space and more sound design features and possibilities for the user, as previous synthesizer sample libraries for Kontakt had to offer.

The 175 included presets have been crafted with love for details, covering basic sounds as you would suspect from a classic analog synth, up to more cinematic pad sounds using the full load of the effect rack and fitting in a high variety of genres like synth-wave, deep house, and techno. In detail the factory presets contains 44 Bass, 11 Chords, 11 Drums, 12 FX, 17 Keys, 28 Lead, 30 Pad, and 22 Pluck sounds.

Capturing the warm analog sound of this well-known icon, by using Kontakt`s powerful sampler engine, in synergy with its new wavetable engine – DC-ZERO even captures the pulse-width modulation of its paragon. Giving you, more sonic freedom in the sound design process than “just multisamnples”. Forming a compact instrument with focus on an easy-to-use workflow like known from analog synthesizers. Designed with a similar layout, as you surely know from modular systems – the core synthesizer module is complemented by additional tools like the voice mode for monophonic and polyphonic voicing and predefined chords. Output control module with stereo width, limiter, and fx rack routing.

The effect rack is packed with Kontakt`s studio-grade sound processing tools, featuring a lofi-drive module: transistor drive and bit crusher in one box. Followed by the Choral chorus and Phasis phaser effects. For more dynamic processing and more saturation, the Supercharger GT as a tube compressor gives you all you need for more fine-tuning, along with the Solid-G equalizer. Finalized with the outstanding Replika delay and the hybrid reverb module. All the effects have been kept in a reduced amount of controls, to keep the workflow focused on the essential core controls and not distract your creativity with too many controls or unnecessary menu-diving. All controls are always in sight, always a smooth and comfortable workflow."

The anticipated new Pittsburgh Modular Taiga synth just rolled in the door. I knew I was going to be messing with it all day, so I figured may as well film it and share some curated noise with you. Patched some bass sounds and one clip making weird sound effects. Sounds really good, looking forward to using it in some new tracks.
