A Magic Pulsewave Introduces the OBLIQUENCER

video upload by A Magic Pulsewave

Update: New video:

OBLIQUE DUB JAM

video upload by A Magic Pulsewave

"OBLIQUENCER sequencing three+ synth voices in dubspace."

OBLIQUENCER is a melodic and rhythmic sequencer which uses basic pattern building blocks to create musical sequences. It outputs three channels of tuned analog control voltage, and three channels of analog gate signals. Unlike typical sequencers, the user does not enter sequences note-by-note. Instead, the user sets pattern behaviors and routes the resulting patterns internally to melodic and rhythmic parameters, thereby generating musical phrases or compositions. OBLIQUENCER is capable of creating traditionally musical sequences, as well as more unusual, asynchronous, and poly-rhythmic, patterns. OBLIQUENCER may even uncover for the user, a direct understanding of the mathematical nature of the melodic patterns humans emotionally enjoy. Two external inputs can be routed to clock, gate, or trigger any of the internal sub-modules. all internal patching and routing is achieved via pin matrices, with a total of more than 150 patch points. Tuning is entirely variable, and each control voltage output is capable of covering more than a 5 octave modulation range, at one volt per octave.

OBLIQUENCER comes with 40 patch pins and is housed in a handmade wooden enclosure.

OBLIQUENCER SUBMODULES:

(2) CLOCK LFOS- Create continuous square clock at user-defined rate.
(2) "DECADE RINGS" - 2 to 10 step gate sequencers
(2) "RIPPLE GATE SEQUENCERS" - clock dividers with the ability to mix each division /2 through /4096 into a gate signal.
(1) "RIPPLE MELODY SEQUENCER" - 3 bit CV pattern generator using mixed clock dividers to generate CV note pattern sequences. Continuously tunable 0-5V.
(1) MELODY BIT INVERSION MATRIX - Allows patching of other modules into the melody sequencer to alter or generate melodic patterns.
(2) "HARMONY REGISTERS" - Generate accompaniment automatically based on pattern data from the Ripple Melody Sequencer and trigger inputs. Each has independent CV tuning and output.
(3) GATE OUTPUT MATRICES - Allow routing of internal modules to trigger/gate external modules.
(2) EXTERNAL INPUTS - Gate/clock/trigger inputs to allow external control of the internal modules.
(1) AMP LINK - For connecting to AMP "Expandoor" and "Wave Expander" expansion modules. Outputs the three gate outputs, the three melody control bits, and the central clock signal on a network cable.

OBLIQUENCER SPECIFICATIONS:

DIMENSIONS: 10" X 10" X 2.5"

Meet the M0SS 101 Synthesizer by Andrew John March

M0SS 101 DEMO video upload by Andrew March

"A quick demonstration on how to build a patch with the M0SS-101 synthesizer."

From the creator of WVR, the the M0SS 101 virtual analog monosynth is currently seeking funding on Kickstarter.

"M0SS-101 is a virtual analog monosynth built for a pure, hands-on subtractive synthesis, packed into a compact, rugged guitar pedal enclosure.

With 26 buttons and a single encoder, M0SS-101 gives you intuitive access to a deep 42-parameter virtual analog synthesis engine. Press a button to select a parameter, turn the encoder to modify it, and monitor your signal flow via the LED system.

Using a MIDI controller, you can map any parameter via simple MIDI learn, making it easy to integrate into your setup. Up to 17 presets can be saved and recalled for quick access to your favourite sounds.

The 26 RGB LEDs use colour and brightness to represent signal flow, modulation paths, settings and selections. A separate row of 11 LEDs at the bottom gives you instant visual feedback on the currently selected parameter. I aim to offer an affordable, compact, and versatile instrument, without sacrificing features, ergonomics, or most importantly, fun. I hope you'll enjoy playing this synth as much as I have :'-)"

New Eurorack Modules Coming From Doepfer

Doepfer will be showcasing the above new modules at SUPERBOOTH25. Details on each follow.
Check with dealers on the right for upcoming availability.

Module A-119-2 is kind of a dual version of module A-119 without envelope follower. Instead two amplifiers are available and the module width is 4 HP only.

The module contains two amplifiers with separately adjustable amplification levels. Each channel is equipped with an overload display. The module can be used also for stereo signals, e.g. the stereo output of a smartphone.

Controls and displays:

Level 1/2: manual control of the amplification in the range 0 - about 45.

Overload 1/2: overload LED, begins to light up for output levels beyond about 10Vpp (+/-5V)

In 1: audio input 1 (monophonic or stereophonic, see technical details)

In 2: audio input 2 (monophonic)

Out 1/2: audio output (monophonic)

Technical details:

for higher amplifications the two amplifiers can be daisy-chained

normalling options: the signal applied to socket In 1 can be normalled to socket In 2 in different ways by means of a jumper on the pc board:

socket In 1 is connected via a mono patch cable (standard patch cable) to a monophonic signal and this signal is normalled to socket In 2 (i.e. the same input signal for both sub-units): jumper on pin header JP2 in upper position

socket In 1 is connected via a 3.5 mm stereo TRS cable to a stereophonic signal and the second channel of the stereo signal is normalled to socket In 2: jumper on pin header JP2 in lower position

no normalling: jumper is removed from pin header JP2

all inputs and outputs are DC coupled. Thus the module can be used also for the amplifications of control voltages.

Infinite Machinery Demo by Todd Barton

video upload by Todd Barton

"Just got turned onto these cool modules from Infinite Machinery which is located here in my little town. Really digging them. Enjoy these brief test drives."

Todd Barton's Patreon: / synthtodd

The Infinite Machinery Hexa VCA is a 6 channel VCA with DC coupling and a unique normalization function. All in 12 HP

Signal inputs are DC coupled.
CV input response, 0 to +5V

Maximum amplification is unity gain, or 1.

Channels with no CV input will have CV normalized
to the CV of the channel above. This cascading of CV
values is defined in two groups, channels 1 - 3 and 4 - 6.

For example: If CV is patched to channel 1 and no CV
patched into channels 2 & 3 - Channels 2 & 3 will
follow the CV of channel 1.

Patch CV into channel 2 and nothing into channel 3
then channel 3 will follow the CV of channel 2.
The same hold true for channels 4 - 6, with 4 being
the start of the CV cascade.

Module depth - 34mm

Current draw - 40mA +-

Kaona Introduces Sisyphus Granular Eurorack Module w/ 8 Original Filters

via Kaona

Google translated:

Sisyphus is organized around a granular engine and a palette of eight original filters. Its granular system allows several grains to coexist in a single stereo sound stream that combine with each other.

This filter is based on a global granular design of the sound: it is not a granular engine followed by a filter but a real integration of filtering in the process of establishing the grain. Each grain generated carries the filtering characteristics defined by the musician and will be combined with the other grains according to evolving and configurable patterns.

The filters have been the subject of a completely specific development and are not from the usual libraries: they will therefore have a specific color that we let you explore!

Filters
→ Lowpass
Attenuates high frequencies beyond the cutoff frequency. Filter at 12 dB/octave.

→ Highpass
Attenuates low frequencies below the cutoff frequency. Filters at 12 dB/octave.

→ Bandpass
Let a band of frequencies around the cutoff frequency pass. Filters at 12 dB/octave.

→ Notch
Widens around the cutoff frequency and lets the rest pass.

→ Peak
Boosts the band around the cutoff frequency, while letting the rest of the spectrum pass without cutting it drastically.

→ Comb
Creates a series of cancellations and resonances, based on an internal delay and feedback.

Electronic Music Laboratories ElectroComp EML-200

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.
video upload by Sean Rubin

via this listing

"If you are considering buying this synth, I imagine you already know a bit about it. But for those stumbling onto this listing and are intrigued, there is a video link for one example of the one for sale in use....

Allow me to offer that all I know about it.

This is a FULLY FUNCTIONAL EML Electrocomp 200. I had it restored over at Main Drag Music in Brooklyn, NY a few years back. The Power Cord is original, and I’ll include the original capacitors with the unit in a bag.

This is an exceptionally rare synth, built in Vernon CT in likely the late 60’s or mid 70’s. It was initially made to be an educational synthesizer for science classrooms to teach kids the physics of how sounds are created.

On its own, it is a modular synth island with one master oscillator that serves as an LFO and/or ring mod source & two saw tooth waves. The synth also has a spring reverb, a ring mod, and a mic amp along with a 6 channel stereo mixer (3 per side).

While it does offer keyboard control in the back, it is for a specific keyboard that I do not have, but the synth CAN be controlled via CV with an atypical 1.2V/Hz output. I have successfully controlled the sawtooth waves with an Elektron Analog Four, as they are the only wave shapes that have an input section.

This synthesizer sounds like it’s history. You can smell the capacitors in the sound. You can also actually smell the synthesizer a little bit when it’s turned on (not a bad thing, it really works perfectly). All of the wave shapes are very stable and have their own vibes that are unique from any other synthesizer you’ve heard.

This synthesizer is a weird little beast on its own, and controlled with CV it offers some beautiful sounds. As a piece of outboard gear, the spring reverb, ring mod & mic amp are awesome on drums, guitars, other keyboards, and of course the synth its-self.

For those who do experimental music, ambient music, electronic music in general or are looking for a vintage happy mistake machine to sample that also looks as good as it sounds, you’re gonna love playing with this synth.

I have taken excellent care of this synth and am sad to see it go, but it’s time for it to be enjoyed by someone else who appreciates and loves it as much as I have. I’d love to hear what you make with it and how you carry on its legacy."

Korg 770 with Kenton CV/Gate/Filter Mod SN 770934

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.

via this listing

"One of the rarer ones in the line up, somewhere between a 700s and an MS-20, featuring the amazing Traveler filter, superb sounding ring mod and very unusual chromatically playable noise.

Imported from Japan in 2018, professionally serviced then and fitted with a Kenton Kit allowing external CV/Gate/Low Pass Cutoff Frequency control, under the Korg standard, so you need a Hz/V (as opposed to 1V/Oct) capable interface, like Kenton boxes, Arturia Keystep, various options in Eurorack...

Great cosmetic condition, no missing metal ring to any of the knobs, which seems to have happened to a lot of those. A noticeable chip to one wood side, otherwise only a few regular micro paint chips and dings, clean example overall.

Great working condition, amazing sound."

5/7/24 Metasonix S-1000 Wretch Machine + Korg SQ-10 (at Vintage Synthesizer Museum, Los Angeles, CA)

video upload by Cfpp0

"Korg SQ-10 sequences Metasonix S-1000 Wretch Machine at the Vintage Synthesizer Museum in Los Angeles, CA. Around 1:45 into this video, resonant filter squelch begins eating the bass line and pulser, and it continues until it goes fully apoplectic. Both the S-1000 and SQ-10 speak Hz/v and the two blue cables are coming from the SQ-10 Channel A voltage output and Multiple trig output to the S-1000 pitch CV and trigger inputs.

The legendary Wretch Machine is pretty much unobtanium at this point, but the Vintage Synthesizer Museum is Mecca."

4/9/24 Metasonix S-2000 vacuum tube synthesizer + Korg SQ-10 sequencer & MS-02 + Roland RE-301

video upload by Cfpp0

"Finally, a Metasonix S-2000. For this lethargic elephant stroll, a Korg SQ-10 sequencer is sending 16 steps of Hz/v CV (channel A voltage out) to the S-2000 operators, while also triggering (converted by the Korg MS-02 interface) the S-2000 contour 1. The drive amount on Operator 1 and Operator 2 are incrementally increased and the fall and rise of contour 1 are also increased. Roland RE-301 tape echo is added via the Mackie Onyx 1640 mixer."

2/28/24 (be flat, 8 step) Yamaha CS-30 + CXM 1978

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.
video upload by Cfpp0

"Another one from the end of February 2024. One oscillator is set to SEQ and the other to KBD, so you hear a droning note under an 8-step sequence from the onboard sequencer. At 1:48 I start playing some notes and you can hear the portamento. Mostly this video demonstrates the filters."

via this listing

"Insane. The Yamaha CS-30 is an animal. The filter, the oscillators, all those envelopes, all that modulation—it sounds amazing, wild. And it’s an ecosystem. Self contained, with its own sequencer, LFO, headphone output, keyboard; flip a switch to transpose your 8-step sequence, flip another to drone, drone, drone, flip a switch to change envelopes. But it also has external audio in to the filter, external control voltages in and out, sequencer pitch and gate out, and so on. So on! So on!

Solo leads, cellos, vocal formant and vowel, alien bells, whatever, it’s versatile.

It tracks Hz/v for all you Korg MS-10, 20, 50 folks, all you thyratron-loving Zerosum Inertia folks, Metasonix folks.

Very nice ergonomics. Good angle to the controls. Large knobs and faders.

This one has been around here for a few years, but had a problem with the keyboard glitching. It was just serviced and is now working great, plus it has been changed to operate on North American power."

PlayFader PlayMates - Oberheim OB-X8 via MIDI 🔥

video upload by Play All Day

"What’s going on here then? MIDI baby, yeah!
The cv outs are connected but they’re not in the mix. This is just MIDI - 909 sending MIDI transport into PlayFader and the @Oberheim OB-X8 being sequenced by PlayFader. Channel A controls filter cutoff while Channel B sequences, all via MIDI (PlayFader features a 3.5mm Type A connection).

MIDI is here!!! Along with other new features like buffer contents visualisation, channel mute, patch storage allowing up to 8 patches to be saved (includes all settings and buffer contents), Buchla 1.2v/oct and Korg Hz/oct scaling, channel copy and loads more.

Firmware updates are way ahead of schedule, so much so that we are behind on updating the Play Data guides and manuals.

Btw, the LED screen refresh rate doesn’t always match the camera capture rate which is why the LEDs might not always be consistent... maybe, but I'm clearly not a video expert... we’re getting a better camera really soon :)"
