Bad Gear - It's a MESS!!!

video upload by AudioPilz

"Welcome to Bad Gear, the show about the world’s most-hated audio tools. Today we are going to talk about Make Noise 0-Coast. This 2016 wannabe music tech influencer must-have and flyover state synth tried to bridge the gap between buchlaesque exploration and moog-ish accessibility and offers a wide range of modular flatulences with a mostly useless built-in anti-Eurorack safeguard. What a mess!"

TEAR - Experimental jam #31 // Vhikk X, Moog Subharmonicon, Bitbox

video upload by David Falcon

"Testing this battery powered mobile setup. The Palette case can be powered via powerbank and with the Bitbox micro I can record within the Modular case itself, without the need of any other equipment. The idea behind it is to take it outside to some special places to record, and maybe add some field recordings in the background.

I finally got to try the Vhikk X after a while trying to get one. The first few hours with it I was not very inspired by it, but kept digging and found this small melody that felt pretty emotional. Ironically the drone bass did not come from the Vhikk, but instead from my favorite, the Subharmonicon.

The Bitbox is here because it can do a lot in such small footprint. It is a sampler in the classic sense, but also is acting as a pseudo-Radio Music module with a radio sample I found, and also is recording the whole piece directly like the 4ms Wav Recorder.

In Ableton I added later on a bit of compression and EQ to even out the sounds.

I have published the first ALBUM that is acompilation of songs, some from this year and some older called "Hipotese". It is available in the streaming platforms and bandcamp. Go check it out!

// Patch notes //
Moog Subharmonicon - Drone Bass, modulated from Pam's New Workout
Forge TME Vhikk X - Melody, sequenced from Oxi One and processed with a LPG in the Disting mk4.
1010 Music Bitbox Micro - Synth, piano and radio samples. Records the whole mix that comes out from the Befaco Output Bus. This is what makes the setup truly portable."

The Sound That Shaped Music | Minimoog Model D | Bob Moog Tribute Edition

video upload by Moog Music

"A Limited-Edition Piece of Synth History. https://inmusic.to/y65ybz6e

In 1970, the Minimoog Model D redefined modern music-making as the first portable, performance-ready analog keyboard synthesizer—bringing the Moog sound to artists worldwide. This tribute edition honors that legacy and the visionary spirit of Bob Moog.

For artists like Gary Numan, Jimmy Jam, and Mark Mothersbaugh, the sound of the Minimoog Model D was a catalyst. Loved for its warm, analog tone and intuitive, straightforward design, this timeless synthesizer’s influence transcends genres and generations. Its distinctive basses, soaring leads, and classic filter character established the Model D as the archetype of what artists and listeners still imagine when they think of the synthesizer.

This limited-edition production run features a custom quartersawn oak wood enclosure, a unique back-panel decal, and an included SR Series travel case, along with 100% analog circuitry and all the modern functional enhancements from the instrument’s 2022 release.

To honor Dr. Bob Moog’s legacy and impact on modern music technology, $500 from each unit sold will be donated directly to the Bob Moog Foundation, supporting the Moogseum, Dr. Bob’s Sound School, and the preservation of the Bob Moog Foundation Archives.

"A Special Run of an Iconic Instrument

We designed this limited-edition production run with intentional details that commemorate Bob Moog's earliest synthesizer models. The instrument features a custom badge that uses a metal photo-anodization process, which harkens back to the modular panel graphics found on the System 55, System 35, and Model 10 synthesizers, as well as select early R.A. Moog Co. Minimoogs. The instrument features a custom quartersawn oak wood enclosure, a unique back-panel decal, and an included SR Series travel case, along with 100% analog circuitry and all the modern functional enhancements from the instrument’s latest reissue.

Each Bob Moog Tribute Edition Minimoog Model D synthesizer is assembled by hand in our North Carolina production facility, and only 500 in total will be built by our small team."

SynthR10's Final demo : "The Running" #analogsynth #electronicmusic #musicgame #originalsoundtrack

video upload by KurtzMindfields

"Here is my latest demo of the SynthR10 (for a long time) ahead of Synthfest France 2026, where two SynthR10s will be showcased at the booth and on stage. For me, the SynthR10 is a fantastic, resolutely modern analog synthesizer for my artistic work and as a game music composer (Microids/abigoba), offering a pleasure you don’t get with VSTs: playing live and turning the knobs, making every day a different musical adventure...
Live SynthR10 #1: polysequencer (sync LFOs, 2 FILTERS ACTION)
Live SynthR10 #2: split MOOG bass / Pad with aftertouch & lead synth.
Sync with KORG Electribe II.
All sounds are my own creations.
Demos are always frustrating for me; I prefer the stage and albums... lol"

Bob Moog Foundation Archives Donation: Rare Moog Liberation Formerly Owned by Gary Wright

Pictured:

Gary Wright (left) and Casey Young performing on Moog Liberation "keytar" synthesizers

via The Bob Moog Foundation

Synth wizard Casey Young (Gary Wright, Yes, Madonna, TOTO, Michael Jackson, Tina Turner) recently donated a vintage, white Moog Liberation keytar synthesizer to the Bob Moog Foundation Archives. This rare instrument was used by Gary Wright in live and recorded performances, including the music video for the 1981 song "Heartbeat." Wright, who composed the 1976 hit song "Dream Weaver," personally gifted the synth to Young.

“Getting to work with Gary Wright was one of the best gigs I ever had.
He did so much to jump-start my musical journey.”
--Casey Young

We plan to fully restore the Liberation, which has been in storage for decades, to its former glory so that we can share this instrument at the Moogseum one day. None of our efforts are possible without the support of our donors. Please consider supporting the Foundation today so that we can restore and preserve this and many more historical vintage electronic instruments!

“We are honored by this very special donation to the Bob Moog Foundation Archives. Gary Wright’s Liberation is a part of synthesizer history. We are deeply grateful to Casey Young for this important donation, and we look forward to sharing this historical gem once it has been restored.” --Michelle Moog-Koussa

For an insider's insight on the design of the Moog Liberation, check out our one-on-one interview with former Moog Music designer Rock Wehrmann, available to read on moogfoundation.org.

NE555 Counterless sequencer - 3: Radio buttons, transpose function, final assembly, and a demo video

video upload by organfairy

"The demo is in 3 parts: Manual mode 4:15, Sync mode 9:46, and external mode 14:07

'Radio buttons' is an expression used for a row of buttons where a button stays down when you press it. You press another button and the first one will pop up again while the other button stays down.
It is possible to make such a device with simple pushbutttons and a few logic gates instead of the complicated (and expensive) mechanical locking switches. This is what I explore in the beginning of this video - and it is actually exploring since I haven't used the concept before so I didn't know if it would actually work. I do know that the old Moog Taurus bass synthesizer used a similar idea for its preset buttons.

The music is also a kind of exploration project since I decided for the first time to (over)use the portamento function on my Elka X-30 organ in an arrangement. Apart from the organ I also use my Roland JV-35 for some of the parts"

"Mesmeric Trance" - Moog Sound Studio & Novation Summit trippy jam

video upload by No Lake

"I remember a night in a club in Brussels. It must have been 4 a.m., I was starting to get tired, about to leave. Then a song started, something very languorous, trippy, and intoxicating. The song invaded my body and soul. It was very repetitive but at the same time very special, airy, ethereal. I stayed there, lulled by the music, and then I left, thinking ten minutes had passed. The song had lasted an hour.

Nothing is more frustrating than a song that sets an atmosphere, a mood, and then disappears, leaving us hanging. This is why I like longer tracks.

Deeply Flawed, Utterly Charming: RMIF TI-5 Synthesizer

video upload by HAINBACH

"The RMIF TI-5 "Digital Keyboard", an 8-Voice analog/digital hybrid synth, is little known, even in former Soviet countries. As they did on the ES-2-5 drum machine I covered here before, it seems that the engineers in Riga took a look at what Roland was doing, taking inspiration from the Juno-line. Unlike the famously sturdy Japanese instruments, the TI-5 was built rather haphazardly, with bad clones of western chips managing the voices and processing. That is why only few survived the test of time. Yet despite its shortcomings it sounds utterly charming, managing both deep Moog-basses, vast evolving pads and chiptune leads.
