ROLAND SYSTEM 100 + MXR Pitch Transposer/Digital Delay (Restored By Synth Tailor Electronics)

video upload by Synth Tailor Electronics

"Heres a demo of some units we restored , the ROLAND SYSTEM 100 (Model 101, Model 102, Model 103, Model 104) + MXR Pitch Transposer + MXR Digital Delay.

The MXR Pitch Transposer M-129, and the Digital Delay M-113 (both of these units are FOR SALE, if you're interested reach out through our website contact form or email)

HISTORY: The Roland System 100 is a semi-modular analog synth from the mid-1970s, a classic piece of gear that’s still got a cult following. It’s got a gritty, warm sound, perfect for everything from deep basses to wild, experimental noises. The setup includes five main modules: the 101 synthesizer, 102 expander, 103 mixer, 104 sequencer, and 109 speakers. Each module’s got its own vibe, but they’re designed to work together, letting you patch cables to create custom signal paths. The 101’s the core, with a single oscillator, a meaty low-pass filter, and a built-in keyboard. The 102 doubles down, adding another oscillator for fatter sounds. The sequencer’s a standout, letting you craft repetitive patterns that were huge in early electronic music. It’s not as complex as a Moog modular but way more portable and user-friendly for live tweaking. People love it for its hands-on feel and raw, vintage tone.

Setting Up...

video upload by No Lake

"Just a few words to let you know that I'm still here. I'm currently working on the new era of my music. It's heading in the direction I wanted it to go. I introduced you to the concept of Brussels School, which means everything and nothing, and I realize that it's ultimately something that suits me.

So what's next? I'll gradually introduce you to jams based on this concept. Rather long pieces that take the time to establish an atmosphere. Something absorbing, bewitching, with a hypnotic and almost insidious rhythm. Something along the lines of "Illusion" or "Hypnosis," which were two of the channel's top three hits. I take this as proof that I'm on the right path.

As explained three weeks ago, there will no longer be videos every week. They will arrive when they arrive. The long-term idea is to rework all these jams to create a real album centered around a single philosophy, but this is another story for later.

Wishing you a great day! See you soon.

No guitars! If The Kinks had a synthesizer back then. ;)
You Really Got Me by The Kinks from the album Kinks (1964)
One of me my fathers favorite music groups.

Featured the Moog Prodigy Synthesizer (1979)

This cover song series contains my own recreations of my favourite songs from the last 50 years. The original music from which I take inspiration belong to their respective owners. I recreate tracks only for personal passion and to pay homage to these tracks.
My intention is not to create covers that sound exactly like the original (if you want to hear identical sounds, please listen the original). It's more of an inspiration with my sounds from the old synthesizers from the past and of course the great appreciation for the original performers and producers."

NINA SESSIONS featuring THE NIGHT TERRORS

video upload by Melbourne Instruments

The Night Terrors are a Melbourne-based electronic music duo consisting of Miles Brown and Sarah Lim. Often billed as 'Australian Electro Goth Legends', The Night Terrors recently released their fourth album titled 'Hypnotica - Composition for Theremin and Electronic Music Synthesizer' featuring Miles on Theremin, Synthesizer and Programming, and Sarah on Synthesizer. For this recording we asked Miles and Sarah to choose two compositions from the new album to perform using two NINAs, and of course Miles' Moog Theremin.

In the two songs featured here Miles uses NINA's 12 voice 4-part Multi-timbral ability to control three layers via DAW and one layer via Keyboard controller (Novation SL61). Throughout the performance Miles is using DAW automation to Morph the A/B patches of each layer. Sarah controls the second NINA with her trusted Korg Krome EX 73, using multi-timbral splits and layers. The Theremin is doing it's own thing - not connected to NINA or any other devices. To get that 'hypnotic vintage horror synth' feel, Miles and Sarah created their own NINA presets as well as using original factory presets. With the exception of the Theremin and some percussion, all sounds are generated by the two NINAs used during the recording. Watch the full performance now"

EML ElectroComp 101 – Vintage Duophonic Semi-Modular Synthesizer

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.

via this Reverb listing, also on eBay

"A rare and revered classic, the ElectroComp 101 was Electronic Music Laboratories’ evolution of the original ElectroComp 100—crafted by the Connecticut-based company known for its educational and experimental instruments. Released as a flexible alternative to the ARP 2600 and Minimoog, the EML-101 brought serious innovation to semi-modular design.

Unlike its contemporaries, the 101 featured four voltage-controlled oscillators—two of which operate sub-sonically for LFO duties—with morphable waveforms accessible via rotary selectors. It’s duophonic, allowing up to two-note polyphony, and provides a unique modulation architecture where control voltage and audio signals are treated interchangeably, offering highly creative patching possibilities.

A 12dB/oct multimode filter (low-pass, band-pass, and high-pass) with resonance adds tonal versatility, and the onboard ring/amplitude modulation, sample-and-hold (“Sampler”), and dual envelope generators give the 101 deep sound-shaping power. Thanks to its use of op-amps instead of temperature-sensitive transistors, the 101 also boasts impressive tuning stability compared to Moog or ARP synths of the era.

Designed with portability in mind, the unit folds neatly into its own wooden case, making it ideal for studio or stage use.

Originally marketed to universities and educational institutions, the EML-101’s modular flexibility, rich analog tone, and rock-solid build quickly caught the attention of professional musicians and sound designers, cementing its place as one of the most powerful portable synthesizers of the 1970s.

Features:

Polyphony: Duophonic

Oscillators: 4 VCOs (2 with sub-audio range; variable waveforms + noise)

Filter: Multimode 12dB/oct filter (low-pass, band-pass, high-pass) with resonance

Envelopes: 2 ADS generators

Effects: Ring/Amplitude Modulator, Sample-and-Hold

Modulation: Any CV or audio signal can be patched freely

Keyboard: 44-note

Control: CV/Gate compatible

A previously used item that shows signs of cosmetic wear but is fully operational and functions as intended—a vintage gem ready to inspire."

Moog Muse Firmware v1.4 Update

video uploads by Moog Music

Playlist:

1. Muse | New Global Modulation
In this video, we explore how to access the new global modulation options added to Muse's MOD MAP in v1.4 firmware.

Firmware v1.4 introduces a wealth of new modulation options: six new global modulation sources (two global LFOs, two global envelopes, and two global random trigger sources) and 23 new modulation destinations—including the much-requested ability to modulate every delay parameter, down to each individual character function.

These new options exponentially expand the sound design possibilities on Muse, opening the door to entirely new sonic landscapes and microcosms to explore.

2. Muse | Per-Timbre Sequencer Probability
In this video, we explore how to use the new per-timbre probability options added to Muse's sequencer in the new v1.4 firmware.

While firmware v1.4 expands Muse's sequencer capabilities in many ways—perhaps the most powerful enhancement is the ability to dial in different generative behaviors per timbre. This enables incredibly deep and detailed methods of introducing probability into your compositions, allowing Muse's sequencer to act as an improvisational partner.

Randomness is a powerful tool for adding surprise and movement to your music, and Muse's sequencer offers a compelling way to incorporate interesting musical twists and turns into your exploration of sound and compositional form.
3. Muse | Dynamic Chorus
In this video, we explore how to use some of the new features in Muse firmware version v1.4 to create dynamic chorus and interactive diffusion patches.

Muse firmware v1.4 allows for modulation of all parameters of the DIFFUSION DELAY using the six new global modulation sources. We first look at how to create a basic chorus sound by using short delay times in the DIFFUSION DELAY and modulating the delay times very gently using the global LFOs.

(Note that PITCH-SHIFT should be selected as the time mode in the DIFFUSION DELAY "More" menu to enable pitch artifacts reminiscent of those found on beloved analog BBD or tape delays.)

We also look at how to integrate Muse’s expressive controls, such as the Mod Wheel, keyboard Aftertouch, and Macro knob to control various parameters of both chorusing and diffusion. A twist on our patch uses the global envelope generators to increase the chorusing rate over the duration of our notes, which will function differently depending on if multi-trig is enabled or disabled for the global envelopes.
4. Muse | Fading Modulation
In this video, we explore how to use some of the new features in Muse firmware version v1.4 to create modulation routings that fade over the course of a note’s duration.

Muse firmware v1.4 introduces a handful of new functions to the MOD MAP which allow you to fade in or out a modulation routing over time. We take a modulation routing that uses global LFO 1 to modulate both delay times in the DIFFUSION DELAY and apply the new fade functions to fade the chorus effect over time.

FADE A fades the modulation in from the onset of a note, while FADE D fades modulation out from the start of a note. FADE R sustains the modulation routing for as long as a note is held and then fades it out when notes are released. Finally, FADE AR applies both an attack and release envelope to the modulation, combining our fade in/out behavior into one handy function. For all fading functions, the amount sets the time of the fade from shorter to longer.
5. Muse | LFO Envelope Mode
In this video, we explore how to use the envelope mode added to Muse's LFOs in the v1.4 firmware.

Firmware v1.4 introduces a bevy of new features to Muse, unlocking countless exciting modulation possibilities. LFO envelope mode is one powerful addition that allows the LFOs to behave more like an envelope.

When you press a key, the LFO will run through a single cycle of its waveform and then pause. When combined with some of the unique user waves found in LFOs 1 and 2 (and now global LFOs 1 and 2, as well), envelope mode enables a wide range of new, key-triggered movements to enhance your sound design experience with Muse.
