LoFi Future - Fragmenter 45 Circuit Bent HDMI Video Glitch Processor

video upload by LoFiFuture

"Available to order here: https://www.lofifuture.shop/product/f...

Track: LoFi Future - Canicular Days
https://lofifuture.bandcamp.com/track...
https://open.spotify.com/album/5oSvIp...

The Fragmenter 45 is a circuit bent Extron 1604 HDMI Scaler. It is a very high quality unit that demanded a very high retail price when originally released. The HDMI signal integrity is pixel perfect and doesn't compress your image when passed through this thing. It processes 1080p 60fps signals without even breaking a sweat!

This one features some effects that are new to myself, targeting a specific part of the clock circuitry that I have not experimented with before on any other device. The 3 push buttons trigger different clock glitch effects that completely take over the signal and make some mesmerizing patterns. They are an extreme and immediate set of effects, perfect for the most intense parts of a live visual performance. A bonus feature of these buttons is that when subtle artefacts build up on the screen after a while even when the effects are all off, a quick press of one of these buttons and they are all cleared! No need for a reset mid performance!

Another effect unique to this device in the horizontal warp effect that makes the clean HDMI signal degrade into something that looks like a weak analog transmission.

8 knobs control the colour digitise effect and another 9 knobs control the "fragment" effect section that splits the image up and repeats it in slices at a 45 degree angle. These two banks of knobs can be linked together with a toggle switch for even more effect possibilities.

This unit also features a VGA input and can scale the signal to a HDMI output, all of the effects work the same when doing so."

Exit Earth 🌍 (Roland SE-02 // S-1 // TR-6S // Cre8audio Boom Chick // Arturia Minifreak // Hapax)

video upload by 2-Minute Warning

"In this video, I keep exploring the Hapax sequencer’s capabilities even more:
Program changes to switch between different presets (TR-6S and Minifreak)
Automation (enabling and disabling MIDI LFOs controlling parameters on the SE-02)
MIDI effects: Arpeggiator, LFO, Randomizer, Output, Scaler, Swing, etc.
Modulation
Fill button used to make drum breaks, mute some tracks etc.
Conditions for notes to play when a certain condition is met...

All 5 instruments in this jam are being sequenced by the Hapax.

The little trick I used here is that, thanks to the Hapax' MIDI Output plugin, the BASS track or the ARP track can sequence the S1, depending on which MIDI Output plugin I've enabled.

⚠️ Heads up: I miswired the Minifreak, so it’s totally out of phase - if you listen in mono, it’ll disappear. 👻"

Fragmenter Mini - HDMI Video Glitch Processor

video upload by LoFiFuture

"Available to order here: https://www.lofifuture.shop/product/f...

The Fragmenter Mini is based on the Extron DSC HD-HD HDMI scaler. It is a compact with a HDMI input and output capable of processing and scaling a HDMI signals from 480i up to 1920x1200, 1080p/60, and 2K.

With this modification I have extended the enclosure with a new 3D printed top shell that accommodates the controls.

There are 32 different bend points, 24 of them controlling the colourise effects and the other 8 controlling the fragment effects. This scaler has a very unique way of processing the image that results in the image being sliced into sections at a 45 degree angle when the fragment effects are applied.

The potentiometers are off in the middle (12 o'clock) when they are panned either left or right they control the intensity of that particular effect.

Each column of potentiometers are connected to a common bus, and each of these common busses can be connected to the column next to it via a momentary push button or a latching toggle switch. A useful feature when preforming visuals to music.

The original front panel buttons are concealed behind the front panel but can still be easily accessed with something like pencil for setting the output resolution. Otherwise they are never needed and dont access any fun parameters anyway."

Flame Maander-M Desktop Eurorack Wavetable Synth

A few pics via CONTROL

New version demo here, previous version in white here.

Details:

"A Streamlined Classic! Mäander-M Wavetable Synth with Analog Filterbank & Sequencer

The Flame MÄANDER-M is a compact reimagining of a well-regarded classic from the Flame lineup — now more affordable and streamlined, but still packed with the same sonic depth. At its core is a wavetable synth engine, fed into the 12-channel analog bandpass filter bank, controlled by the internal pattern sequencer.

Sound sources include a polyphonic wavetable and FM oscillator, an analog white noise generator and an external audio input. The internal sequencer offers one polyphonic note track (up to 4-voice chords) and 14 mono tracks. The latter are dedicated to the filter channels, the audio input, and the noise source. Each track has its own VCA with individual envelope control and is accessible via MIDI notes.

Patterns can be created and saved as patches, and played live with ease. The built-in arpeggiator and keyboard scaler make the MÄANDER a powerful tool for live jamming and generative sequencing. Updates, patch management, and wavetable loading are handled conveniently via MIDI SysEx.

New in this version: direct oscillator output, stereo noise output, and stereo audio input. Mäander comes fully mounted in a powered 56HP wooden skiff to get started right away.

The Mäander module comes with a custom-made 56HP Eurorack case. Consisting of black anodised aluminium half-shells with wooden side panels, the case has a desk-style design. It includes a built-in power supply (+5V, +12V and -12V, each with an output current of 500 mA) and a plug-in power supply (9–18 V, 18 W), and can therefore also be used as a separate Eurorack case with other modules. The case is manufactured entirely in Germany, and the elegant wooden side panels are crafted from locally sourced wood, including cherry and elm."

Circuit Bent Feedback Generator / Video Synth / Video processor by LoFi Future

video upload by LoFiFuture

"A rough and ready demo of this one off feedback generator I built a while back using a fancy-schmancy Silicon Image iScan Pro!

Availible to order here: https://lofifuturestore.square.site/p...

This unit is capable of producing some insanely intricate and evolving feedback loops on its own and it can also be used as a video processor to colourise and glitch out composite video signals for some very 80s looking posterized visuals.

The interface is simple, the upper part housing the built in preview screen also has directional controls and an illuminated zoom button for controlling the position of the image on screen.

The main control surface features:
-3 oversized 45mm knobs for controlling the Red, Green and Blue levels

Register ®️ (0-Coast + Timeline // Perfourmer + H90 // TR-6S // Nymphes // Squarp sequencer)

video upload by 2-Minute Warning

"I really wanted to make use of a lot of MIDI effects of the Hapax hardware sequencer in this jam! 😃
So nearly all of the sequences you'll here coming from the 0-Coast, Perfourmer and Nymphes, have been recorded with very few notes.
The rhythmic and chords richness are mainly coming from the onboard MIDI effects. Thus:

🎸 BASS (0-Coast):
The track starts with the 0-Coast playing a simple pattern, which gets a bit more complex when I add more PULSES on the EUCLID effect of the Hapax. There's also a RANDOM MIDI effect on this track which from time to time, transposes some notes to 1 or 2 octaves.

🎶 ARP (Perfourmer):
The Perfourmer then gets introduced progressively, sequenced by Track 2 of the Hapax where actually, no notes where recorded! Every note you are hearing are being generated in real-time by the REGISTER MIDI effect. I also used the SCALER effect for the generated notes not to go out of scale 😉

🎹 CHORD STABS (Nymphes):
I used the RANDOM + HARMO + SCALER MIDI effects here to transform the single notes recorded to the cool CHORD STABS!

🥁 DRUMS (TR-6S):
The drum parts are played by the TR-6S using only the Analog Circuit Behavior engine (i.e. no samples used) for the drum sounds. I didn't use the TR-6S' sequencer here but the Hapax, in order to be able to swap between different patterns on only one machine (Hapax)."

Introducing GForce Oberheim OB-X

video upload by GForce Software

"Beautifully classic, yet resolutely modern. Alex Ball introduces the official GForce Oberheim OB-X virtual instrument.

OB-X and Oberheim are Registered Trademarks of Tom Oberheim."

GForce’s Oberheim OB-X is the world’s first officially endorsed emulation of this famous 80s synth. Yet it sounds modern and lends itself superbly to Electronica, EDM, Drum and Bass, Ambient, Rock, Prog Rock, Hip Hop and more. The original synth was used by immense artists and groups such as Japan, Ultravox, BBC Radiophonic Workshop, Chick Corea, Herbie Hancock, Depeche Mode, Queen, Larry Dunn, Youth, Chris Franke, Styx and many more. GForce’s OB-X preserves the sound everybody loves and has been upgraded to offer new sonic possibilities.

AN AUTHENTIC OB-X WITH VAST SOUND DESIGN POSSIBILITIES

Oberheim OB-X provides an authentic experience but has been enhanced with powerful features designed for the modern setup. GForce’s OB-X features up to 16 voice polyphony, a vintage control for adding subtle analogue imperfections, four programmable Macros, new intro, retrigger, phase and smoothing features for the LFO, new level destination for the LFO, separate PWM1 and 2, discrete levels, discreet tracking, an arpeggiator, a chord mode with scaler, Chorus, Stereo Delay and Reverb effects, and more. Finally, the GForce’s OB-X has been augmented with X-Modifiers, dedicated LFOs and ADSRs for almost all parameters that take OB-X to the next level of sound design.

CREATE HUGELY COMPLEX, YET MUSICAL, SOUNDS WITH X-MODIFIER TECHNOLOGY

Using our unique X-Modifier technology, the scope of sound modulation possibilities is immense. The intuitive X-LFO and X-ADSR section enables you to work faster without having to set up modulation paths; they’re already set up for you. X-Mods provide you with the ability to create extensive modulations of almost every parameter, allowing you to create hugely complex, yet musical, sounds. So, while the tone and character at the heart of the synth remain authentic to the original, the additional features turn it into a true sonic canvas.

BEYOND THE ORIGINAL

INSPIRATION AT THE SPEED OF SOUND

OB-X, with its fully resizable UI, a powerful new Preset Browser, and over 400 brand new production-ready presets from top-level sound designers, is fully ready for modern production.

Oberheim OB-X features our new, highly flexible preset browser, giving you the power to organise your sounds in a way that suits your workflow. With extensive tagging, sorting and search possibilities, it’s quick and easy to find the presets you want. We’ve included more than 400+ brand new production-ready presets. We’ve enlisted an array of diverse sound designers and artists including Light Bath, GEOsynth, Christian Lafitte, Richard Veenstra and Ramon Kerstens (K/V), Tontario, Stuart Thomas, Zardonic, Drew Schlesinger, Drew Neumann, Noyzlab, Dave Spiers, Tom Wolfe, Graeme Rawson and more. The patches range from resolutely modern to passionately classic with a lot of recreation you might have heard on more than one hit.

LoFi Future HDMI Glitch FX Processor - Circuit Bent HD Scaler

video upload by LoFiFuture

"Available to order here: https://lofifuturestore.square.site/p...

Its a loooong demo for this one, there are a lot of possibilities with this machine and i wanted to make sure I captured my favourite effects. Skip through the video to check out what it can do! I used a collection of stock footage for the demo running from a small media player, all in 1080p 30fps.

Based on a high quality HDMI scaler originally designed and marketed to extend the compatibility of older HD TVs installed in places like office and commercial settings. When paired with its IR remote (included optionally as they can be difficult to obtain) they can be used to scale and convert an incoming HDMI signal to different resolutions and framerates.

By default they output a 1080P 30fps signal regardless of what you input, The remote isn't a necessity at all for using this as a HDMI glitch processor but is useful if you with to change the output settings.

The unit also features a VGA input (inputs are auto detecting) so it is capable of converting and scaling an analog VGA signal too. Very useful if you want to use it with some LoFi Future VGA glitch adapters before it in the chain.

The controls have been mounted in a separate extension that is securely mounted to the case via 4 screws. This was to prevent any obstruction of the ventilation that would negatively effect the thermal performance of the unit (HD video processing gear gets warm)

12 knobs give you access to 24 different bend points. When a knob is set to 12 o'clock the effect is off, pan it either clockwise or counter clockwise to engage an effect.

When all FX are set to off it passes a completely unaffected, pixel perfect image.

Mixing them together will result in complex glitches with endless sweet spots to explore.

The 12 knobs are split into two busses of 6, the two busses can be linked via the toggle switch on the side so they all connect to the same buss or operate on 2 separate busses. This unlocks a ton more possible effect combinations!

Simple and modern setup, just HDMI in and HDMI out, easy!"
