"I programmed some of the factory patches for the ASM Leviasynth. Tonight I'm giving away how I actually do it.

We're opening with a full cover of "Inner Universe" from Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex — every sound built on the Leviasynth, nothing else in the chain — and then we're building an original 2000s cyberpunk track from a completely empty patch, live, start to finish.

Here's the part most Leviasynth tutorials skip: you do NOT need to master 8-operator FM synthesis to get incredible sounds out of this thing. My easy-FM method uses one, two, maybe three operators to generate a raw waveform with some teeth on it — and then lets the Leviasynth's analog filter do all the real sculpting. Cheap FM, expensive filter. It's how I built most of my favorite factory patches, and by the end of tonight you'll be using it too.

"Sound bank notes

In my opinion, the Murmux Adept is a modern classic among synthesizers. It oozes quality and depth with a vintage analog sound and a strong personality. The oscillators, filters and analog stereo bucket brigade delay (BBD) interact to create a rich palette of timbres, with an inclination towards dark ambient textures.

It excels at ambient pads, textures and atmospheres so I have exploited this in many of my patches. I have also created more conventional sounds such as strings and brass which sing with power and majesty – rivalling those of the Sequential Prophet 5. Lead sounds are another strength of the Murmux, so you will find many within the bank ranging from pure triangles and sines through to aggressive and expressive saws.

Although the Murmux looks like a very simple synth - lacking complex features like a modulation matrix, in fact it is possible to create many layers of modulation simultaneously. You can for instance, assign velocity (how hard you press the keys) to modulate envelope times while also morphing between waveforms in both oscillators and using aftertouch to control filter cutoff and resonance. In this sound bank I have used modulation comprehensively and all patches have parameters assigned to the mod wheel as well as aftertouch and/ or velocity to maximise the expressiveness of the sounds.

The delay is a big feature of this synth so I have used it a lot, although you will also find traditional analog synth patches with no effects at all. The BBD resonator and ensemble modes are powerful, yet I have tended to use them for subtle modulation to thicken sounds or to create gentle flanging.

No AI was used in the creation of this video.

"All sounds in this video are individual patches played straight from the synth except for ‘Alhaqueca’ and ‘Ambient layers’ which are layered tracks. No external enhancement or processing was applied to the sounds except on the track ‘Alhaqueca’ where I used a software delay plugin and a little compression and EQ when mastering."

The sound penetrated my bones, dissolving the boundaries between me and the world. I closed my eyes, and the city disappeared. In its place was a forest of crystalline trees, and then an ocean where the sky was reflected in every drop. Each wave of "Transcendence" transported me to a new reality, increasingly strange and alien. I lost track of time, lost myself. Now I simply drift between worlds, a prisoner of endless echoes, forever trapped in a sonic loop created by a mad woman with eyes the color of old film. And I know there is no escape. There is only the next sound, the next reality, the next loss.

"Cold sand creaked beneath limbs I couldn't remember having acquired. Metal and flesh, woven into an inconceivable construct, pulsed with a dim, inner light. The planet was dead, scorched to the bone, only rusted rock and endless dunes on the horizon. I didn't know who I was, what I was, or how I had ended up here. My memories held only fragments of alien sensations, echoes of long-forgotten knowledge that didn't add up to a coherent picture.
