We say...
A pre-owned Sequential OB-6 Desktop in very good condition. It has a few dings to the wooden side cheeks. The outer packaging is slightly worn but original and it comes with the power supply and manual
Manufacturer's description
Classic Oberheim Sound — Made Portable
The OB-6® desktop module is just as powerful and easy to use as its counterpart, the OB-6 Keyboard. The module has all of the same controls as the keyboard version and provides the same immediacy and ease of use. As with the OB-6 Keyboard, all parameters are at your fingertips, with full-sized knobs and switches and a comfortable, intuitive layout.
How does it sound? Massive — just like the keyboard, because on the inside, it’s exactly the same. The same analog signal path with discrete VCOs and VCFs. The same high-quality digital effects. The same classic Oberheim sound that has been earning raves from musicians around the world.

Shakmat Ballista Blast : Demo
video upload by Shakmat
"The Ballista Blast is a compact hybrid synthesizer voice built to hit hard, move fast, and cover a serious amount of ground in just 12hp.
It blends digital sound engines with a proper analog processing chain, so you can go from squelchy basslines to glassy textures, from smooth harmonic tones to wild, chaotic mayhem, without being stuck with a single ammunition type.
To keep things alive, the Ballista Blast includes a built-in envelope, an assignable random source, and a velocity input, all routable to nearly any parameter, so even the simplest patch can feel animated and performance-ready.
Because good shots deserve a save button, Ballista Blast stores 256 presets, with Select Bus support for quick recall in a system built for action.

Shakmat Ballista Blast Expander : Demo
video upload by Shakmat
"The Ballista Blast Expander adds a flexible modulation source to enhance your Ballista Blast. The main module is fully CV controllable and gives CV access to almost any parameter but what if you can have a dedicated modulation source assignable with configurable depth to the key parameters of the Ballista Blast ? What if those modulation settings can be stored and recalled with your favorite presets ? This is what this expander has to offer.
Did we say you can have two expanders per Ballista Blast ? Two expanders, two times more modulation, twice the fun.

Twisted Electrons Mega FM Synthesizer MK1 (YM2612 chips!) SN MFM 2293
Note: links to listings are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.
via this eBay listing
"The most hands-on FM synthesizer on the market. This is the original MK1 with two YM2612 voice chips (12 voices in total) taken from the legendary Sega Megadrive. The MKII models now available from retailers do not have these chips, and it makes a big difference.
BEAUTIFUL DIRT! Unlike many FM synthesizers that are very clean and digital, the vintage FM chips within MEGAfm have a very characterful tone, allowing a broad sound palette ranging from beautiful plucked strings to growling distorted basslines. The sounds feel almost organic and never static.
Excellent condition. Lightly used in a non-smoker studio — all faders, knobs, buttons, and LEDs work perfectly. No cosmetic issues."

Super JX and the MPG-7X
video upload by Starsky Carr
"The Roland Super JX (MKS-70 / JX-10) is one of Roland’s most underrated analogue polysynths. Released in 1986, it was effectively two JX-8P synth engines in one instrument, giving you 12 voices of DCO analogue synthesis, huge pads, powerful basses, and classic mid-80s Roland character.
In this video I take a deep dive into the Roland MKS-70 Super Jupiter rack synth, paired with the Retroaktiv MPG-7X programmer and the Vecoven PWM upgrade, which massively expands the capabilities of the original synth.
We explore how the controller transforms the experience compared with the original menu-driven interface, and look at the additional synthesis power introduced by the Vecoven upgrade including true PWM, additional envelopes, extra LFO, and expanded modulation routing.
Along the way I demonstrate a range of sounds including pads, basses, evolving textures and layered patches, showing why the Super JX became famous for its huge analogue pads and rich detuned sounds.
I also look at some of the performance features of the MPG-7X such as assignable controls, patch generation, chord mode, velocity crossfading and MIDI integration, which make this combination feel like a modern analogue synthesizer despite the vintage hardware.
If you're into vintage Roland synths, analogue polysynths, or classic 80s synthesis, the Super JX is a fascinating instrument sitting right at the transition between the analogue era and the rise of digital synths like the DX7.

From Precision to Character: 9 Ways to Warm Up Magnolia
video upload by Frap Tools
"Analog doesn’t automatically mean “warm” or “imperfect”.
Magnolia is an extremely precise analog synthesizer, designed to handle complex FM interactions. That same precision, however, can make it sound “cold” or even “digital” when used in more traditional subtractive patches.
In this video, we explore why that happens — and more importantly, how to introduce controlled imprecision to bring back movement, warmth and character.
The key idea: it’s much easier to make a precise instrument sound imperfect than the other way around.
We’ll look at several control points inside Magnolia that allow you to shape instability, drift and tonal density, turning precision into an expressive tool rather than a limitation.
MAGNOLIA: https://frap.tools/magnolia/
00:00 Introduction: why do some sounds feel warm and other cold?
03:00 The test patch
03:38 1) Detuning oscillator 2
04:19 2) Detuning the whole synthesizer
05:30 Detune and glide
06:26 3) Using a fluctuating random LFO to make the oscillators wiggle
07:24 4) Using the Polymove to randomize certain parameters
07:56 5) Using the keyboard tracking over the low-pass filter to dampen the sound
08:19 6) Playing with the gain staging to beef up the sound
09:19 7) Using a resonant high-pass filter to boost the low end
10:00 8) Adding a pinch of overdrive
10:23 9) Glueing everything with some chorus
11:07 Final remarks"
Yamaha DX7 - the best (arguable) digital synth ever! Part III (2nd)

Granular synthesis redefined
Break your samples apart to build new and unique soundsPlay any audio file like a synthesizer-in tune with your song
Explore a new world of sound design with audio as your raw material
A firestorm of granular power
Grainferno is an advanced granular instrument built around a new way of synthesizing sound from existing audio. Its next-gen grain engine breaks your samples into microscopic fragments and rebuilds them into entirely new textures.
From pristine tonal clouds to experimental digital noise, Grainferno turns your sample library into an endless source of playable inspiration.
Make a synth from any sound
Grainferno can generate grains at speeds fast enough to cross into the audio range. At these rates, grains stop behaving like texture and start acting like oscillators-turning any audio file into a playable synth voice.
Even at audio rates, traces of the original sonic character remain, giving you unique synth building blocks with the spectral fingerprint of your source audio.
Add modulation and grain-level shaping to build ready-to-use granular synth tones that stay in tune with your song like a traditional synth.

DiscoDSP Releases Retromulator Based on The Usual Suspects dsp56300 Engine
via DiscoDSP
[Note: although DiscoDSP gives credit to The Usual Suspects, it's my understanding TUS is not happy about it. From a forum:
"He basically took our source, put his own wrapper on it and is trying to sell it and use it to promote his own business. Can't prevent it, but frankly this is reprehensible IMHO.What isn't clear is whether the UI is just the player above or includes the full editors by The Usual Suspects. I'm hearing it's just the player, which in effect might be an upsell for the full editors by The Usual Suspects.
Yes. He knows he cannot legally "sell" it due to the licensing model our code is published under. Therefore he sells "support" of "his development efforts" to include difficult things like "git clone" and other Arcane and extremely difficult stuff. sigh... I'd strongly advise anyone using it not to actually pay him for it, but that is just my opinion.]
That said:
"Retromulator brings legendary hardware cores back to life through authentic low-level emulation. The virtual analog synths are powered by a faithful recreation of the Motorola DSP 56300 processor, the Yamaha DX7 runs a full emulation of its original chip set, and the Akai S1000 sampler plays your SF2, SFZ, and Bliss sample banks with studio-quality interpolation. Each core runs its actual firmware or sample data — delivering the unmistakable character of hardware that defined electronic music from the early 80s through the 2000s.
Unlike traditional software emulations that recreate synthesizer behavior by approximation, Retromulator emulates the original integrated circuits at the hardware level. The virtual analog synths run on a cycle-accurate Motorola DSP 56300, the Yamaha DX7 runs a full emulation of its Hitachi HD6303R sub-CPU and Yamaha YM21280/YM21290 EGS/OPS chip set, and the Akai S1000 sampler runs on the SFZero v3.0.0 engine with 8-point sinc interpolation supporting SF2, SFZ, ZBP, and ZBB sample banks. Each core executes its authentic firmware or sample data exactly as intended.
Load the ROM firmware from your own hardware or sample banks from your library, place them in the designated folder, and Retromulator takes care of the rest. The result is not an approximation — it is the real hardware running inside your DAW.
Retromulator is built on Gearmulator, an open-source synthesizer emulation project by the dsp56300 team. We are grateful for their extraordinary work in bringing these classic instruments back to life."

Sequential 02 : Oberheim OB-6 Sound Demo : " Massive Mod " user bank preview by I.H.R

In practical terms, the OB-6 (keyboard or module version) is a modern and refined embodiment of all the experience and expertise of Dave Smith (Sequential) and Tom Oberheim. Its sound engine sits somewhere between the Sequential Prophet-6 and the Oberheim OB-Xa; it's essentially a fusion of the two!
It's high-end, old-school analog in the purest tradition—the sound is big, fat, deep, and powerful—but with modern digital assistance that allows it to fully exploit its capabilities and push its boundaries.
This is precisely the subject and purpose of this preset bank, which I designed entirely myself.
This is my main OB-6 bank, which I use very often for my sound design work in the studio or for my training sessions. User Bank #3 (Massive Mod), it contains a total of 96 custom presets. I'm not presenting them all here, the demo would have been far too long, but I've prepared this short demo with a few of them to give you a sonic preview of the synth and its modulation capabilities!
Sometimes I use a single preset with its modulations, either played directly on the keyboard or sequenced with a keyboard layer on top, and other times I mix two presets together (the OB-6 is monotimbral).
Everything you hear comes from the OB-6; there are no added effects, no post-production processing !

Deeply Flawed, Utterly Charming: RMIF TI-5 Synthesizer
video upload by HAINBACH
"The RMIF TI-5 "Digital Keyboard", an 8-Voice analog/digital hybrid synth, is little known, even in former Soviet countries. As they did on the ES-2-5 drum machine I covered here before, it seems that the engineers in Riga took a look at what Roland was doing, taking inspiration from the Juno-line. Unlike the famously sturdy Japanese instruments, the TI-5 was built rather haphazardly, with bad clones of western chips managing the voices and processing. That is why only few survived the test of time. Yet despite its shortcomings it sounds utterly charming, managing both deep Moog-basses, vast evolving pads and chiptune leads.

Iridium Desktop MK2: The Next Sound DimensionIridium Desktop MK2 is a new generation of the highly acclaimed Iridium Desktop synthesizer introduced in 2020 by Waldorf Music, and since then used by countless artists and sound designers. After six years the time has come to advance the sonic success story even further.
Based on the legendary multi-engine design of the Quantum & Iridium product line, the MK2 innovates even further, thus fitting perfectly into Waldorf’s forward-looking synthesizer design philosophy.
The MK2 features a new and fresh design, and an improved CPU board with more RAM and flash storage allowing for more sample storage and opening a whole new world of synthesis capabilities.
Per-Note-Parameter-Locks
(ft. Aphex Twin)
Only on the MK2 you can enjoy a very special feature called Per-Note-Parameter-Locks which is the result of a collaboration with legendary Aphex Twin, a long-term Iridium Desktop user.
With this feature, each of the 128 notes can be assigned up to 16 individual parameter variations by simply holding a note and turning knobs. This system allows each note to have a different set of parameters. You can even change the synthesis mode of oscillators for each note or change effect parameters. It feels like adding a whole new dimension to your music. Per-Note-Parameter-Locks are saved with each patch and can be inspected and edited on a dedicated page.
Seeds – The Sixth Synthesis Sense
The added RAM further allows a new sixth synthesis method for each of the three oscillators. Inspired by wavetable synthesis, in which each wavetable represents a timbral journey, Waldorf has found a way to base these timbral journeys not only on static waveforms, but also to dynamically synthesize each waypoint from sub-oscillators we called “Seeds”. These can be controlled and recombined using techniques like ring modulation and frequency modulation, and enriched with noise and other non-pitched material. While we provide, similarly to wavetables, a set of predefined timbral journeys, you can also edit and create your own.
Protein’s “Flavour” Knob
The new knob called “Flavour” adds sonic liveliness using our new concept of micro-variations in timing, timbre, pitch, and a whole set of additional parameters we recently introduced with the Protein synthesizer.
More Memory, Layers & Sound
With the increased memory capacity, you can change the multi-timbral layer count from 2 to 4. In addition to layered and split modes, the new MK2 also features more advanced multi-timbral modes, such as round-robin and random-robin. These additions bring greater timbral richness and variety, letting you build deep and complex sonic landscapes. A dream come true for all sound designers, sonic explorers and cinematic artists!
Iridium & Quantum Update 4.0
A general update of the Iridium and Quantum operating system will be available soon.
Version 4.0 provides some of the new features for all existing Quantum and Iridium models like the Mutator patch randomizer introduced in the Microwave plugin, a new polyphonic arpeggiator, new microtonal features saved in patches and other features.

RetroSound Studio Tour: Vintage Hardware Sampler from the 80s
video upload by RetroSound
"RetroSound Studio Tour: Classic Hardware Sampler from the 1980s
In this episode of RetroSound Studio, I explore legendary vintage hardware samplers that shaped early digital music production. From professional 8-bit and 12-bit studio machines to iconic toy sampling keyboards, these instruments defined the sound of 1980s electronic music, hip-hop, experimental, and synth-based production.
The E-mu Emulator II became one of the most iconic 8-bit samplers ever produced, known for its warm analog filters and unmistakable character. The E-mu Emax brought professional sampling to more studios with its gritty 12-bit sound. The PPG Waveterm, paired with the PPG Wave system, represents one of the earliest digital sampling and wavetable workstations in synthesizer history.
On the experimental side, the Casio SK-1 and Yamaha VSS-200 introduced affordable lo-fi sampling to a generation of musicians, becoming cult classics for their crunchy digital tone and creative limitations.
These vintage samplers shaped genres such as synth-pop, early hip-hop, industrial, experimental electronic music, ambient, and film scoring. Today, they remain highly sought after by producers and collectors researching vintage hardware samplers, 80s sampling technology, Emulator II sound, Emax workflow, PPG Waveterm history, and lo-fi sampling keyboards.
If you are interested in classic digital sampling, early electronic music production, or rare retro studio gear, this RetroSound Studio episode offers an in-depth look at some of the most influential samplers ever built."
