Bleep Labs Introduces The Delaydelus Sampler and Delay Instrument

Uploaded on May 31, 2015 Bleep Labs

Limited edition available now for pre-order.
Orders will close July 2nd.

via Bleep Labs

"The Delaydelus is a sampler with a built in delay.

Each pin is a sample. The buttons are used to trigger whatever pin is connected to that buttons pin.
For example if the first pin, P1, is connected with the alligator clip wire to pin “A”, the A button on the left will play that sample.
If P1 is connected to P2 and A1 then the A button will play both samples at the same time.

Up to four samples can be triggered at once.

Pitch is adjusted with the knob on the left. When it’s at 12 o’clock the sample pays back at normal speed. As you go counter-clockwise from there the playback will go slower until it starts going in reverse.
Turning the knob clockwise from the center will increase the playback rate.

It’s powered by a 9v battery that’s inserted from the side.
The audio input and output are 1/8″ mono.
– Eight samples designed by Daedelus
– Over a minute of total sample memory
– Beautifully crunchy 12bit, 30kHz audio
– One second delay
– Combine four samples at a time with the unique patch bay
– Through mode to use the delay with an external source
– Sample audio or use it to trigger or modulate
– Optional USB adapter allows you you control the device with MIDI as well as reprogram it
– More info and videos in the user guide

Delay
The internal delay is controlled with two knobs.
The middle knob controls how long the delay is, from just a few microseconds at full clockwise to about a second at full counter-clockwise.
The feedback amount is controlled by the right knob. When the knob is all the way counter-clockwise the delay is off. As you turn clockwise the feedback increases. At 3 o’clock the feedback is infinite. Past that it’s amplified and starts to go crazy.

Oval - The First Digital HandPan Now on Kickstarter

Published on Jun 1, 2015 Oval Sound

"Oval is a percussion platform which allow you to play music / Learn music / Perform music."

Back in June of last year we saw the first peek of Oval, a new electronic instrument by Ovalsound based on the HandPan. Ovalsound has written in to let us know they are now on Kickstarter. Click through for full details on the campaign. The following are some details on instrument and Ovalsound:

"Inspired by the HandPans family of acoustic instruments, the Oval provides total freedom to create sounds and it's a tool geared towards music learning and performing.

There are more ways of enjoying music besides listening. You are never too old or too young to experience the awesome feeling of playing an instrument and creating music. We believe that learning music should be fun and that you can play an instrument right away. The Oval speeds up your music learning curve, leveraging the power of technology, gaming and sharing with others.

Ovalsound was founded in 2014 by Ravid Goldschmidt and Alex Posada in Barcelona (Spain), to provide everyone with the opportunity to find a way to express themselves musically, pushing the boundaries of traditional music to new ways of interaction.

Most traditional instruments are linear, think of a guitar, a flute or a violin. The handpan is meant to be performed in circles. The interface doesn't have a beginning or an end, so you can join musical notes together in a fluid way. The notes have a radial position and are equidistant from the Ding, the central note that sets the tone of the scale. No matter how you play, you are able to perform beautiful melodies every time.

The Oval takes the design, ergonomics and musical qualities of the handpans as an inspiration to create an electronic instrument that can be as simple for a beginner to start exploring music as a means of expression, and as complex as a professional musician wants to make it, as it allows to change sounds and scales, layer samples, real time looping and go wherever the imagination takes you.

SPECS:
* The Oval is ergonomically designed and can be played in many ways. Highly sensitive, intuitive, easy , durable and (children-proof) resistant!
* The external case is made of Solid Surface composed by natural materials --minerals like bauxite, marble and quartz--, natural resins and acrylic.
* Carefully designed, the Oval is light, portable, durable, minimal, simple and energetically self-sufficient.
* Easy as a backpack, you can get an additional case beautifully made of wood to take it comfortably anywhere you want and never leaving your Oval at home.
* Designed, engineered and made with care in Barcelona.

WITH OVAL : PLAY, LEARN, SHARE, CREATE: IT IS ALL IN YOUR HANDS"

Synthesizer Lesson

Published on Jun 1, 2015 Lifetime Montessori School's Channel

And so it begins... This was kind of fun and funny towards the end. I love it when the girl says it sounds like electricity. Smart.

"Our Elementary Parents have been invited to share their skills & interests with the students. This is Oliver's Dad, a professional musician, sharing his synthesizer. It's really inspiring to the students to understand better WHY they work on what they do!"

"Things to know -

* There are 6 sprung latches on the outside of the case, of these two have lost their spring. It doesn't affect the case but it's worth noting.
* Where the 240 cable comes out of the rear of the case, a little door is missing. It again doesn't affect the unit, but it's worth noting also.
* The wave form selector in the VCF needs to be pulled back slightly as you select the wave. It works fine, but you need to pull it back slightly."

Interesting regarding the waveform selector. Maybe this tip will help someone out there experiencing the same or similar.

via the seller: "Just out of 20+ years of clean/dry storage- Clean, Original, Vintage Analog, Super Rare -Star Instruments Inc, Synare Percussion Synthesizer PS-1- stamped serial # 0160, made in Stafford Springs, CT! Also included is the original 50 page user manual. I got this awesome synth in a band gear trade from the original owner in the mid 1980s, used it low hours in the studio- and stored it since. This unit powers up, makes notes/noises-has both working red indicator lights, the original rubber sensor pads dried and deteriorated with age- all rubber pads and glue carefully removed- the sensor pads are in great condition with no dents/scratches/resin staining. Each of the 4 pads have 3 sensor sections, and all work fine- fingertips only-sticks were never used. All switches/sliders are working and changing pitches and waves like they should-they all are dusty and crackle and the main volume slider has loose contact-works, but is touchy. Only missing the white noise knob. I've never opened this unit up myself- will need contacts cleaned for sure. Has hi and lo and headphone outputs- the hi output seems hotter/louder, the lo is weaker/softer."
