rand vs rcos

YouTube via rezzn8r | November 01, 2010

"A square wave is sequenced by two different random waves from a Modcan 61B Quad LFO. RAND and RCOS are each quantized with a Blues scale and fed to a VCO 1V/Oct Input. The results illustrate the difference between RAND and RCOS. RCOS shreds!! lol"

Moog Etherwave Theremin "Playing"

YouTube via kennykeyboard | October 31, 2010

"Beginner's attempt at playing the little box with antennaes. Typical results with warbly sqeaks and swoops. It was Halloween so I thought I'd set the mood. Instead, I scared away the cats. THankfully, the Moog people enclosed an instructional DVD with their Theremins."

Syncing a LED to MIDI-Clock via Arduino

A LED is synced to MIDI-clock via an arduino. Sync-Master is a Roland TR-505, while the Arduino is the MIDI-Slave. This is a first step in the development of a DIY Arduino Mega based 16-step sequencer. Software can be found in the link above."

Steelphon S900 synthesizer

YouTube via JackOasys | August 10, 2010

"A look inside - Uno sguardo dentro -

Googlish:
"A Look Inside - A look inside -
Made in Italy in the seventies, this rare synth was among the first to introduce the new machines monophonic preset small (3 octaves). I hope the video will serve to appreciate the features of construction and assembly that have made "great" many synthesizers of the era. Also in Italy.
Steelphon The video was filmed before the restoration
Today they are unavailable. The value ranges between 1500 and 2300 euro, but they may have even higher prices based on operating conditions and circumstances."

Sequential Drumtraks 400

YouTube via JackOasys | October 13, 2010

Googlish:
"Drum machine in 1982, produced in Japan by Sequential Circuits Inc (Dave Smith) - Demo audio and a look inside ...
Among the features most appreciated at the time, the possibility of tuning and volume control for each instrument (programmable in realtime or step for each measure). In addition, the swing function and the function gave emphasis to the tracks the chance to "humanize" the dynamics of each individual sound. Finally, an ideal studio for his six separate outputs, which allowed the external process and individual groups of sounds. A drum machine that still deserves attention.

Yamaha EX5 - battery replacement & short demo

YouTube via JackOasys | October 15, 2010

"Sul manuale di EX5 non c'è alcuna spiegazione su come cambiare e dove sia allocata la batteria tampone (del tipo CR2032). L'operazione in realtà è semplicissima, basta accedere al vano giusto posto sotto allo strumento. Ma forse alla Yamaha potevano pensare anche ad un luogo migliore per piazzare la batteria tampone... Bonus: una veloce carrellata sui suoni, scegliendo a caso... Un saluto a tutti i possessori di EX5 !!! Jackoasys (2010)"

Googlish:
"The manual EX5 there is no explanation of how and where change is allocated to the backup battery (type CR2032). The operation is really simple, just enter the compartment just beneath the instrument. But perhaps the Yamaha could also think of a better place to place the backup battery ... Bonus: a quick overview on the sounds, choosing at random ... Greetings to all holders of the EX5! Jackoasys (2010)"

Korg DSS1: 36 sounds demo

YouTube via JackOasys | October 18, 2010

"Vintage series: DSS1. Canali midi IN-OUT-THRU. Altre specifiche tecniche sono facilmente consultabili in rete presso i siti specializzati in synth vintage."

Googlish:

"Vintage series: DSS1. A synth / sampler of 1986 in some respects more interesting. The major limitation is the storage of sounds on floppy disks reduced: only two banks of 32 sounds each (up to 64 sounds to floppy). The special - besides its characteristic "sound pasta" - is unusual (at that time) the opportunity to draw the waveforms (waveforms) using two sliders, ppi to save and process them. Easy to use the sampler, which gave food for treatment of the sample, albeit with many limitations in the clean sound and editing. Notes of polyphony: 16 (8 voices, two oscillators per voice). Dynamic keyboard with aftertouch. Channels midi IN-OUT-THRU. Other technical specifications are readily available online at sites specializing in vintage synth."

Elektron Octatrack Update - Scenes and the Optical Crossfader

follow-up to this post
"The optical crossfader
Ruggedness and durability is paramount in a live setting and the smooth action 45mm crossfader meets these criteria with ease. Due to it being optical it is very resilient to both dust and humidity and with a life time rated to more than 5 million operations it is definitely going to stand the test of time. The crossfader in conjunction with the Scene functionality makes live improvisation with the Octatrack easy and rewarding.
Scenes

A Scene is a set of parameter values. All parameters that can be parameter locked can also be assigned to a Scene. At all times 16 Scenes are instantly available and ready to be assigned to the two Scene slots of the crossfader. The Scene assigned to slot A comes into full effect when the crossfader is at its leftmost position and the Scene assigned to slot B comes into full effect when the crossfader is at its rightmost position. For all other crossfader positions interpolation between the Scene parameters will occur. Scenes can be both muted and assigned in real time.

Scenes controlled by the crossfader make it possible to add sudden bursts of effects to a sound, make smooth transitions between tracks, pitch one loop up while another loop is being pitched down or to completely and utterly change the sound of a whole pattern. The choice is yours.
Check back every week for more Octatrack goodness!"

HAMMOND 102100 ANALOG SYNTHESIZER with Case

via this auction
"THIS RARE VINTAGE MONOPHONIC ANALOG SYNTHESIZER (SERIAL # 392214) IS IMPOSSIBLE TO FIND IN WORKING CONDITION (ONLY AROUND 200 OF THESE WERE EVER PRODUCED!) - AND THIS ONE HAS EVERYTHING. IT HAS BEEN CAREFULLY TESTED AND IS IN PERFECT WORKING ORDER. EVERY KEY CONTACT FEELS & WORKS PERFECTLY - AND THIS SYNTHESIZER HAS A PARTICULARLY GREAT & ROCK SOLID, SMOOTH ACTION. ALL BUTTONS, SLIDERS & BOARD CONTACTS HAVE BEEN CLEANED AND ARE FULLY FUNCTIONAL.

PROGRAMMING:
THERE ARE SIX FACTORY PRESETS & ONE MANUAL PROGRAMMING POSITION ON THIS UNIT.

THE SIX PRESETS (FRENCH HORN, TUBA, VIOLIN, SAX, CLARINET & SOLAR ECHO) ARE PERMANENTLY FACTORY-PROGRAMMED PATCHES ACCESSIBLE BY THE COLORED BUTTONS TO THE RIGHT OF THE PROGRAMMER. IN ADDITION TO PROGRAMMING OPTIONS SUCH AS WAVEFORM SELECTION & OCTAVE RANGE, THERE ARE SEVEN FILTER POSITIONS, THREE FILTER CUT-OFF POSITIONS, THREE FILTER MODULATION POSITIONS, AND SEVEN FILTER ENVELOPE POSITIONS. THERE ARE TWO ATTACK SPEED POSITIONS & FOUR TYPES OF VCA ENVELOPE RELEASE. THERE ARE TWO PITCH MODULATION (VIBRATO) SETTINGS & ALSO OPTIONS FOR VIBRATO CONTACT DELAY.

THIS SYNTHESIZER HAS ONE OSCILLATOR WITH CHOICE OF TWO WAVEFORMS - SQUARE & SAWTOOTH. ALTHOUGH IT HAS A THREE-AND-A-HALF OCTAVE / FORTY-FOUR KEY KEYBOARD, IT HAS A SIX-AND-A-HALF OCTAVE RANGE. AS THIS UNIT WAS PRODUCED BY HAMMOND TO SIT ON TOP OF THEIR FAMOUS ORGANS, PROGRAMMING IS MODELED AFTER ORGAN DRAWBARS - THE THEORY BEING THAT ORGANISTS REMEMBER PATCHES BY DRAWBAR NUMBERS. FOR EXAMPLE, "444400200" ON A HAMMOND B3 EQUALS A CERTAIN TYPE OF LEAD SOUND. IT WORKS EXACTLY THE SAME WAY ON THIS SYNTHESIZER - ONCE YOU'VE DESIGNED A SOUND, IT BECOMES VERY EASY TO RECALL USING THIS SAME NUMBER SYSTEM.

THIS IS A VERY SIMPLE, YET SOLID-SOUNDING MONOPHONIC SYNTHESIZER WITH A GREAT KEYBOARD ACTION FROM THE EARLY DAYS OF ANALOG GLORY. IT BELONGS TO THE SAME GROUP OF EARLY MONO PRESET SYNTHESIZERS THAT INCLUDES THE ARP PRO SOLOIST, MOOG MINITMOOG & SATELLITE, ROLAND SH-1000, KORG MICROPRESET & MINIKORG."

"Need some RAD Korg synth tones, but don't feel like lugging your MS-20 around? Here is the compact solution! Lots of gain/sensitivity control, so you can get a much more reliable, better tracking sound versus other vintage effects of this type. Works very well with keyboards, vocals, drum machines, etc. Use it as a control system for your other CV/Gate effects and instruments! Loads of fun and mayhem for years to come."

Elektron Machinedrum SPS-1 MKII Drum Synthesizer

via this auction

"The Elektron Machinedrum SPS-1 MKII combines extremely flexible drum synthesis with powerful sequencer capabilities. It is equipped with four MD-synths, each with its own special sonic flavor. You will have no problem conjuring forth sub-sonic kicks, snappy snares or wild FX. The possibilities to create percussive sounds are near limitless. To add further control over your beats, 16 freely assignable LFO's are available. Be warned though, the Machinedrum can be seriously addictive and no rehab is currently available to treat you. Sequencing is the middle name of the Machinedrum. Use the SPS-1 MKII to control both your internal sounds as well as your external MIDI equipment in great detail. It runs the show, both literally and figuratively speaking. Use the two external inputs to sculpt incoming sounds with the Machinedrum effects and filters. The SPS-1 MKII is not only a great drum machine, but also an extremely potent effects unit! Drum synthesis has never been this powerful!

* 4 x MD synths
* 74 MD machines

* 16-part effect system
* Stereo master effects

YouTube via matrixsynth | October 31, 2010

"http://www.sonoio.org/

Single oscillator on the SuONOIO. No external processing. Sample-A set to rhythmic loop with no mods set. Delay A added followed by Crystal effect which gives the delay feedback an octave-up effect - it's the shimmer sound. Reverse mod and Distortion effects then added. The over saturation and distortion is on purpose. Unfortunately the bass wasn't fully captured, and it's a bit noisy. It sounds better/fuller in the studio. Anyway... Enjoy the rhythmic distorted subtleties. I love this thing.
