"Modular synth live session in Sasazuka, Tokyo from July 2022. Fully live set with the addition of some ambient recording from film clips used; f.e. 04:00 min min semi (cicada) started singing in the tree above during my session.

Sasazuka is an interesting district not far away from Shinjuku. It is a quarter in transit with many changes going on; there are still many old houses around, aswell as their sometimes also very old tenants. Young families are increasingly filling the area, many different eating places and coffee shops are now run by young enthusiastic people and you frequently see foreigners around. According to some people we talked to, the government is obviouly interested in buying as much ground as they can, either for greater living areas or for business improved areas.
This video was recorded on a old trail, that conneted Edo through a small river/ stream with Tamagawa river. Occasionally, you can see the water, which is running all along the path, coming up to the surface under the urban structures, that have over a century been built up on top. At these small creeks, which you can find all over Tokyo, there is a lot of "wild life" going on - birds, beetles, that have dissapeared in other areas, wild bees and frogs etc. In the urban enviroment of today, they are precious outbursts of nature in an otherwise totally controlled city life. First Video this Year! I started this Patch trying to use my new Erica Synths LXR Eurorack Module for a melodic voice which I think turned out pretty nice. Bloom and Pamelas New Workout are responsible for the sequencing. Main Melody 1: LXR receiving v/oct from Bloom, sent through Mimeophon. Main Melody 2: 2hp Pluck sequenced by Bloom, mixed with Noise and filtered by Forbidden Planet through Disting Delay. Bass is Plaits, distorted and filtered by Peradam and XAOC Zagrzeb. "I was mainly just experimenting with my new Klavis Quadigy (quad programmable envelope generator) in my eurorack modular briefcase and this eventually grew out of it. It’s really just a 4 step sequence from a Xaoc Devices Tirana but heavily processed to turn it into four voices with some variety using a Doepfer A-149-4, Synth Tech E102, and Strymon Magneto, etc. Drums are from my new Squarp Instruments Rample module along with helper modules Rebel Technology Stoicheia and Ladin Derivator. Master clock is the Erica Synths Black VC Clock v2 and divider is the 2hp Div."

Shakmat Modular SUMDIF / playthrough / more than a mid side processor

"In this video I take a closer look at the functionality of SUMDIF by Shakmat Modular. SUMDIF is only 2HP wide and can be used for a lot of things: inverter, averager, buffered multiple, precision adder, mid/side processor, ... .

Besides showing how you can create interesting modulation signals, I walk you through a patch to make supersaws with sumdif (and a comparator) as well. I also demonstrate and explain how mid/side processing works, how to use SUMDIF as a mult and a precision adder. I haven't recorded an example of using SUMDIF as an averager, but just know that it's possible using the A+B outputs (with the jumpers on the back added for a 6dB gain cut)."

"Welcome to the niche-y-est of all niche-y eurorack videos. The focus of this video is on tiny differences (or not so tiny) between opamps (operational amplifiers) in the Hungry Rat distortion, a 2hp module made by Modular for the Masses and inspired by the ProCo Rat.

To be fair, you'll still get a good intro to the Hungry Rat, which is a very nice use of 2hp. So if you're not opamp obsessed, skip around and just get the flavor.

If you are interested in opamp contributions to the sound, in this video you'll get to hear 4 different options. The 'bog standard' TL072, which everybody uses for everything; the TLC2262, which I gather is 'special'; the NE5532P; and the B072A.

VCO is a Doepfer A-111 sequenced by Intellijel Metropolix.

It goes straight inside the Prism for some filtering and, at the end of its path, the lonely Surface meets a @Noise Engineering Desmodus Versio creating the magic space. ✨

You can use it as a vocoder or as a filter bank. Using it as a filter bank requires attenuators, lfo's, or envelope generators.

"Eurorack modular synthesizer performance.
Variations on 3 different 4 note sequences.
Moog Subharmonicon generates the 2 primary rhythmic sequences, running through Strymon Magneto. Sub 1 of the first sequence runs through its own output, then through 2hp MMF and Make Noise Optomix for the rhythmic bass line.
Moog Mother 32 generates the descending drone sequence, which is doubled by Make Noise STO tuned up an octave, both run through Chase Bliss Mood, tuned up a fifth.
Mutable Instruments Rings follows the pitch of the descending sequence, with a bouncing ball rhythmic pattern generated by Make Noise Maths and Function, then run through Make Noise Mimeophon. The drifting harmonic tone on top (unison, +5, +12) is the result of modulating the structure of the Rings sound.
Mutable Instruments Plaits chimes the fifth at the beginning of every 8 bars, as well as being trigger by the end of rise on the Function.
Drums are coming from Mosaic Bass, Snare & Hi-Hat modules, sequenced by Intellijel Steppy 1U. Decay on Hi-Hat is a 7 step pattern generated by Mutable Instruments Stages.
The volume and filter cutoff for the drums and rhythmic bass are controlled by Make Noise Pressure Points, with decay slew controlled by a second Make Noise Maths.
Lots of modulation across different parameters is generated by Ornament & Crime and Qu-Bit Chance.
