Hydra ♒ (ASM Hydrasynth Explorer // Elektron Digitone // Dreadbox Nymphes + Julianna // Roland TR6S)

video upload by 2-Minute Warning

"There are not enough synths/sequencers offering the chord memory function (i.e. memorizing chords and then playing them back with 1 note only) within a scale! As the ASM - Hydrasynth benefits from this feature, I used it to create this track 😉

I then added some FM sequences played by the Elektron - Digitone, a fat analog bass played by the Dreadbox - Nymphes (through the Julianna Chorus/Vibrato pedal) and finally drums/FX by the Roland TR-6S (the kick sound is not a sample, but uses the ACB engine to emulate the 909's kick!)

* Hardware used *
- PADS: Asm - Hydrasynth Explorer
- BELLS, CHIMES: Elektron - Digitone
- BASS: Dreadbox - Nymphes + Walrus Audio - Julianna + The Pill Pedal (triggered byt the TR6S' headphones output)
- DRUMS, FX: Roland - TR-6S
Everything was sequenced by my DAW, except for the DRUMS & FX which were sequenced by the TR6S' internal sequencer & I also used the Digitone's sequencer to do some parameter-lock."

Chase Bliss CXM1978 for SYNTH // 0-9 Presets with Sequential PRO3 + Elektron DIGITONE & DIGITAKT

video upload by Dexba

"In this video, I wanted to show you the Chase Bliss and Meris lovechild, the CXM1978, a pedal that pays homage to the legendary Lexicon 224.
There are many videos here on YouTube discussing the price, the usefulness, or even how it compares to the real one or the UAD plugins, but I haven't found any video about how this thing sounds in many different situations, settings, (electronic) instruments.
So here we go, I did one myself, with what I think is a bit of a representative sound palette you could find in your music productions, but more will come in the future since I think this one's a keeper.

Chapters:
0:00 - Quick intro
2:04 - [Sequential PRO3] Pluck
3:49 - [Sequential PRO3] 'Prophet like' Pad
11:51 - [Elektron Digitone] 'Vangelis like' Pad

20:21 - [Elektron Digitakt] Drums
22:03 - [Elektron Digitakt] Vocal sample
23:53 - [Elektron Digitakt] Ambient house (?) Jam"

CXM1978 for SYNTH // 0-9 Presets with Sequential PRO3 + Elektron DIGITONE & DIGITAKT

video upload by Dexba

'Hello everyone! Feels like this is my first video, like, the first PROPER video, mostly because I am showing myself on camera and also because I want to get step by step closer to more complex or even "useful" videos :)

Thank you a lot for all your support, never thought I would get to 1.000 subs, and that's also a great encouragement to keep doing stuff and get better at it!

october by sinedrifter [featuring the Elektron Digitone... all music was done w only the Digitone]

Published on Nov 4, 2018 Sinedrifter

"Just a taste of what the Elektron Digitone can do. This is part of my live set, where all of my music is under 60 BPMs. Towards the end, we drop to 33 BPMs.

FM synthesis is powerful, and beautiful. These are all either pure sine waves, or modulated sine waves. For an 8-voice synth, as you can see, the Elektron Digitone delivers rich sounds and an enjoyable FM synthesis experience. No overdubbing was needed.

All footage was shot by Cam Arjent, and they did all editing as well. Music was by performed by Sinedrifter. The band appears momentarily. I'd like to thank Yira and Dottie for their priceless contributions.

A little bit of extra info: our DAW of choice is Cubase 4.5 running on an Apple Mac G5 Quad (who needs new computers?) All mastering was done using the Focusrite Liquid Mix (no sense in upgrading when you have something that works really well). All footage was shot on a Sony a7 mmii using a Zeiss 55mm f1.5 lens, wide open. Film grain was added in post. Shot on location in Vasquez Rocks State Park, California.

This film is not meant to entertain, but to immerse.

For promotional use only. All content is Copyright 2018 Cam Arjent."

Strymon Volante vs Elektron Digitone

Published on Jun 12, 2019 ollilaboratories

"If you like my stuff please support me on http://music.ollilab.com/ and https://www.patreon.com/theBURG

#Digitone #StrymonVolante #StrymonBluesky

Ever since the digitone keys was released I have been a extremely intrigued by using the digitone as a normal synth not using the elektron style sequencing.. adding some Strymon love to the mix while giving this a shot felt like the right thing to do. :) Reface CP is just acting as a MIDI keyboard.

Gear used: Elektron Digitone (no internal FX) / Reface CP MIDI keyboard
Strymon Volante, Drum style delay + Strymon Blue Sky Long Room Shimmer.

All is recorded straight to the Zoom H5.

For a detailed walkthrough and HQ sound files, check out my patreon page.

Elektron Digitone Keys?

Check out the auto created search terms on the left typing in "elektron digit"  You should see Elektron Digitone Keys.  I captured that screenshot myself after receiving a tip from Soviet Space Child. I've never performed a search on Thommann's website before, nor have I ever searched for Elektron Digitone Keys, so that isn't my search history. It's suggested results from Thommann. Now the question of course is, is it based on their backend list of available and coming products, or is it based on the common searches on the site? We'll find out come SUPERBOOTH next week. Until then, listen to Elektron's teaser here.

Shuffle Trip 🔀 (Elektron Digitone + Particle + Deco // Korg Drumlogue // Sequential Take 5)

video upload by 2-Minute Warning

"This track starts with a PAD sound sequenced and played by the Elektron Digitone (Polyphonic Digital Synthesizer). I then enable the Doubletracker effect (on the Strymon Deco 2 tape simulation pedal) and unmute 2 other tracks on the Digitone, playing a LEAD and CHIMES sounds.

Enters the Korg Drumlogue (analog and digital drum machine) with some DRUMS (I used only one drum pattern where I made use of STEP probability to add some variations to the pattern).

And finally the BASS line played by the Sequential Take 5, sequenced by one MIDI track of the Digitone. In order to create this beefy dirty BASS sound, I use the onboard OVERDRIVE and DISTORTION effect of the synth! 😎🤘 The BASS line is also playing in triplets to add an odd groove to the track (it wasn't so easy to program on the Digitone MIDI track as I needed to shift each notes off the grid manually 😅).

Hope you'll enjoy!"

FM Synth Programming with Digitone Livestream Tutorial & Q+A

Published on Apr 14, 2020 Perfect Circuit

"We will be going over FM synthesis programming concepts that apply to all FM synths and applying them specifically to the Elektron Digitone. Watch if you are curious about how FM works and how to program FM synthesizer sounds, or if you have a Digitone and want to learn more about how its synthesis works. The Digitone also has some unique features that most FM synthesizers don't have for shaping sounds. Frequency modulation synthesis or FM often feels complicated but if looked at from the right perspective it can be more easily understood."

Elektron Digitone Keys Sounds

Published on May 8, 2019 Perfect Circuit

"Read our article about the Digitone Keys here: https://www.perfectcircuit.com/signal...

Elektron has a new version of the Digitone that has a built in keyboard as well as a few other extras including individual stereo outs for all four channels and extra modulation controls. There are 8 knobs above the keyboard that control a preset set of voice controls as well as a set of 8 user programmable controls. The mod wheel and pitch bend as well as aftertouch and velocity from the keyboard can be routed as modulation sources to multiple destinations at once.

The synthesis of the Keys version is the same easy to use but great sounding FM engine from the original Digitone that also features the filters of subtractive synthesis.

Digitone Keys available here: https://www.perfectcircuit.com/elektr..."

Live hardware jam (a collaboration with a member of Elektron!)

Jay Hosking

"A live, semi-improvised performance, all on hardware, and inspired by a new collaboration. Erik Angman is a Technical Writer at Elektron, but more importantly he's a musician with nuanced taste and subtlety. Erik reached out to me about the possibility of making music together, and after hearing his work, I was happy to oblige. Here, I use some audio stems from Erik as a starting point on the Octatrack, "shred to pieces" (Erik's phrase) and then reimagined. Finally, I made some additional melodic and rhythmic content via the Octatrack, Digitone, and Monomachine. I'm very happy with the results, and here's hoping it's the beginning of a beautiful collaboration!

Elektron Octatrack MkII — Sample mangler, performance mixer, scene maker
Elektron Digitone + Cooper FX & Chase Bliss Generation Loss (into Octatrack) — Warbly melody
Elektron Digitone (into Monomachine) — Swell pad
Elektron Monomachine MkII (into Octatrack) — Drums, bass, high synth, harmony synth, and performance mixer

Written by Erik Angman and Jay Hosking. Performed and recorded live by Jay, with EQ, compression, and limiting on the master.

The great Elektron jam! w/ Analog Four MkII, Analog Rytm MkII, Monomachine MkII, Digitone, Zoia

Published on Aug 5, 2019 Jay Hosking

"A live, semi-improvised performance, all on hardware, and inspired by Elektron's classic Monomachine and all its surprising features. If you didn't already know, the Monomachine is a discontinued, older machine, and (to the best of my knowledge) nothing in Elektron's line-up can quite replace what it did. Once I was using the Rytm and the Monomachine, it seemed silly not add in the rest of the Elektron team. The Zoia was brought on at the last minute to give that "old VHS" sound to the Digitone.

Elektron Analog Rytm MkII — Samples and drums
Elektron Monomachine SFX60-UW MkII — Master-level effects on the Rytm, plus two synth lines (high lead, chorus saw), plus drums
Elektron Analog Four MkII — Four synths, primarily in "chorus" section (bass, tremolo flute, fast arp, synth string)
Elektron Digitone + Empress Zoia — slower arp

Written and performed within a 24-hour period, and uploaded as is, with only a little compression/limiting on the master.

Elektron Jam with Digitakt, Digitone, and Octatrack!

Published on Mar 18, 2020 Patchwerks Seattle

"In this video Matthew Piecora (aka EZBOT) performs one of his tracks on the Elektron Digitakt, Digitone, and Octatrack. His focus is using the Octatrack as a mixer and resample machine allowing for flexible improvisations in any scenario. The Digitakt provides uncompromising sound quality and pattern control while the Digitone handles bass, chords, and wonderfully perky FM leads.

Taking our MIDI gear offgrid: Stolperbeats and Digitone

video upload by Making Sound Machines

"Finished a chilled weekend with a nice Sunday evening jam! Stolperbeats is heard here MIDI sequencing Elektron's Digitone 4 voice FM synth, a secret Making Sound Machines Eurorack prototype called Percussive Maintenance as well as Fred's Lab's cheeky little paraphonic voice called Zekit. If you haven't already, go check out the DIY workshops at Superbooth 2022 - where you can actually build a Zekit yourself!

Stolperbeats, roughly translating to 'beats tripping over themselves', is a drum trigger sequencer designed to create shuffled beats influenced by artists like Flying Lotus, Hiatus Kaiyote and J Dilla. We've always been fascinated by taking our beats offgrid to give them more fluidity and life. This module allows you to easily dial in and seamlessly switch between all the shuffle, feeling and groove we would, in the past, painstakingly nudge together in a DAW.

Stolperbeats' timing is set to Clave, a special mode where the accents in a 3:3:2 rhythm are fixed "on time" and the rest of the notes shuffle around that. The idea came when we chopped up some Modeselektor beats and started to add swing to them.

The Elektron Digitone acts as a sound module here, receiving Stolperbeats' triggers as MIDI notes - channel, pitch, velocity and note length can be adjusted per track to map to any MIDI capable drum machine or synth. The MIDI is split using the incredibly handy Meeblip cubit to target an extra bass voice on Fred's Lab Zekit. Of course, you can still patch the triggers into Eurorack at the same time, so we whipped out our Percussive Maintenance drum voice to add a kick and some hihats.

While Digitone's internal sequencer is not running in this sketch, Stolperbeats still sends a MIDI clock signal so the tempo synchronizes across the two machines. Enrica uses the built-in keys to live-transpose one of the tracks and play a shuffled melody on top of the sketch. We're very excited about Elektron 's new Syntakt by the way, that looks like a perfect match for Stolperbeats."

ESK - twisted electrons MEGAfm Synth Setups

Published on May 2, 2020 Metunar

"Synth setup demos with the twisted electrons MEGAfm polyphonic 4OP-FM synth with Yamaha YM2612 chips.

Arturia Minibrute Setup:
MEGAfm mono out -- Arturia Minibrute filter input -- Lexicon MX200 effectunit stereo out

Haken Setup:
Haken Continuum Fingerboard midi out -- MEGAfm mono out -- Lexicon MX200 effectunit stereo out

The Haken Continuum Fingerboard is an old one with only midi out. I didn’t use the Y (Up/Down) and Z (Pressure) axis.

Elektron Digitone Setup:
MEGAfm Stereo out -- Elektron Digitone stereo out

In the beginning you hear the sound of the MEGAfm, followed by some sounds of the Digitone.
With 8 Midi CC i controlled the MEGAfm through the Digitone. I also used on the CC many parameter locks.

Elektron Digitone SINGLE TRACK JAM & Tutorial

Published on Mar 7, 2018 0F.digital

"Maximising one track on the Digitone.

I had an idea to try maxing out a track with sound locks and micro timing, in response to some comments about the Digitone's 4-track limit being too.. limiting. Turns out that's not really the case, and you can actually do a lot even with just one track!

Note: I used the Reface DX just as a MIDI controller in this video; no audio is being generated by it."

Florescent Dream // Novation Peak + Elektron Digitone

Published on Oct 21, 2018 r beny

"A dream of blooms. Live and extended version of the track Florescent Dream from my new album Eistla. Available at rbeny.bandcamp.com if that's yr jam.

Arturia Keystep playing Novation Peak arp and Elektron Digitone pads through Boss DD-500.

The album version is 3 different Peak patches recorded to cassette and a field recording chopped up by the Make Noise Morphagene. This version features the main arp patch on the Peak, and a variation of one of the other Peak patches recreated on the Digitone. There is also a new Digitone part added to add some low end.

DD-500 is used to create feedback textures. It is seriously a beautiful pedal (it reminds me of the Analog Heat, in that there are several algorithms to choose from, but there are a lot of options to customize the patch within each algorithm. Except the 500 goes way way way deeper than the Heat). For this video I am running everything through 2 custom patches in parallel."
