DinSync Gilbert Analog Monosynth

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.

via this auction

"Beautiful brand new DinSync Gilbert analog monosynth built from kit and tested, includes power supply for the Gilbert, also includes an Arturia Keystep in excellent condition that is a great sequencer, arpeggiator, cv/gate keyboard to use with the Gilbert.

This Gilbert can be heard on YouTube under some recent tunes by RhythmDial.

Designed in the circuitry style of the Roland MC-202 and SH-101 with some SH-5 influence, the Gilbert also adds some new features."

Dinsync Gilbert

"Here is a Dinsync Gilbert professionally built and calibrated. It has some useful mods too.

Switch to select faster or slower lfo rate. Allows Lfo to get into audio frequencies

Switch to set lfo shape to modulate pwm independent of lfo setting

3 pots to control level of waveform and noise so you can easily mix all waveforms simultaneously (like the sh101) VCF keyboard tracking amount.

Gilbert is a small format analog monosynth inspired by what we consider to be some of the best era of Roland™ machines from the late 70s/early 80s. It has a nice “rubbery” tone that will be familiar to all acid aficionados and makes a great supporting voice for your RE-303. Gilbert can be thought of in a couple of ways. On one hand you have a fully fledged analog monosynth and on the other hand due to its I/O connections you could think of Gilbert as a eurorack module in a synthesizer format. Of course combinations of both also work, anything is possible. It's pretty much a modular sh101."

Dinsync Gilbert In Black - Roland Inspired Mono Synth

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.

via this auction

"Here is a freshly complete Gilbert, a best of inspired by Roland mono synthesizer.

The circuit blocks take inspiration from :-
Curtis CEM3340 oscillator
MC-202 style formfactor
SH-101 style noise oscillator
MC-202 Sub Oscillator
SH09/Jupiter 4 (rev 1) style VCF
SH09 style interface layout
Features include:-
I/O (3.5mm jacks)
1v per octave cv/gate inputs
Raw oscillator outputs (saw, square, triangle, sub)
Hard Sync
Exponential FM
Linear FM
CV over VCF
External input (to mixer/vcf) with envelope follower
Audio output on both 3.5mm and 6.3mm jacks.

I have added mods based on the Isak Mods, these include :-
Increase VCF ENV amount
Increase VCF LFO amount
Increase VCO modulation amount
Increase Vpp at the output
These are not mind bending mods but give a better range for the modulation.

My builds come with the Black Christian Hartig/Kumptronics case, PSU and manual.

From the RE303/Dinsync website :-

BuchlaPoemEmsAvs

YouTube Uploaded by deb7680 on Mar 20, 2011

"Following a somewhat trashy treatment of Gilbert Desmée poem with the same "BuchlaPoemTransformPart2" patch. At 0'30, the voice of Gilbert went before going to the Buchla in the Ems Synthi Aks emulation Ludwig Rehberg, Ems Avs Vst). The patch allows the Avs to deal with a radical voice, with very percussive effects (1'20, 2'15, and 4,33) combined with a random sequence produced by the Avs in the first two oscillators. The Osc 2 module while the first 3 in LFO modulates Osc Osc 2. The voice becomes true electronic instrument.
New μBraids SE Eurorack voltage-controlled digital oscillator/sound source in 8HP by Tall Dog Electronics

We have a new maker and a new module to the site. Tall Dog Electronics and the µBraids SE.

"µBraids SE is a voltage-controlled digital oscillator/sound source in 8HP with a wide range of creative and useful sound generation algorithms (aka models).

This redesigned µBraids SE (Special Edition) is a new revision of µBraids that updates and simplifies the component layout and has a new panel design. It utilizes a custom miniature segmented LED module, eliminating the need for a 2nd microprocessor and its supporting circuitry. µBraids SE remains fully compatible with future upstream Braids firmware upgrades and any other alternate firmwares that are compliant with the standard Braids design.

This module is available from: Control / Analoguehaven / Perfect Circuit / Synthcube with more to come.

Included Parts
µBraids SE includes a standard 16-pin to 10-pin Eurorack power cable and two sets of mounting screws for racks/enclosures with either M2.5 or M3 threads.

History
The original Braids was designed by Olivier Gillet of Mutable Instruments under a CC BY-SA 3.0 license. Braids is a macro-oscillator with multiple intricate digital synthesis algorithms. Each algorithm is controlled by two continuously variable parameters, both of which are voltage controllable. It is available as a 16HP Eurorack module. (Source)

Dinsync Gilbert Analog Synthesizer

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.

"DinSync (Paul Barker) is the DIY synthesizer genius behind the RE-303 replica of the Roland TB-303. The Gilbert is his own design to recreate the sounds the equally famous Roland SH-101. Yes, it sounds just like the originals - AMAZING!

Professionally built and fully calibrated using precision equipment. This is a backup unit that has been in storage. It's only been used twice and has been fully tested and is ready to rock.

Use Gilbert with the sequencer of your choice! Use it with a MIDI sequencer using a MIDI/CV converter (check my other auction: Syntecno Teebee 303 clone with MIDI/CV converter.)

DinSync Announces New Gilbert CV/Gate Voice DIY Project

via the re303 forum:

"Gilbert is a new DIY project I'm working on, and will eventually be available in the re303 shop as a full kit.

The first prototype has been made and is working. The idea here is a small cv/gate voice you can build and use with your re303 (or any other cv/gate sequencer of course)

The architecture is inspired largely by the mc202, sh101 and sh09. So it sounds somewhat like all of them. Anyway soon i'll be making the next prototype version and maybe after that I'll have a good idea of the release times.

meantime check the instragram posts here in the forum for previews of the prototype"

Voice Ping Strum by Michael William Gilbert, Electronic Music Composer

"On the 40th anniversary of the release of 'Moving Pictures' and in commemoration, MWGilbert has a new release, exclusively on vinyl. The title, 'Voice Ping Strum' is an anagram of 'Moving Pictures'. This new album was composed using a Eurorack modular synthesizer; especially noteworthy in his rig is the full range of Tall Dog Electronics Eurorack modules, which feature prominently on the recording. The only other sound sources used were sampled piano & sampled voices. There are 2 suites, 1 on each side. These have been described as more intricate than ambient, and more ambient than not!

Available from Burning Shed Records and Perfect Circuit

MW Gilbert has been composing and recording actively from the 1970's through the present. In 1979 he released his 1st LP, 'Moving Pictures', with the goal of humanizing electronic music, using wooden flutes, percussion, and voice to complement synthesized sounds and textures. After 7 more albums, in 2018 he released 'Radio Omnibus', with cutting edge electronic music, two acoustic chamber pieces, and featuring Adam Holzman (Miles Davis, Steven Wilson) and Mark Walker (Oregon, Lyle Mays).

MW Gilbert grew up in the US and Belgium. While living in Europe he encountered the music of Varese, Stockhausen, and Pierre Henry, as well as the music of India, Africa, and Japan. After studying electrical engineering at MIT, he continued studies at the Boston School of Electronic Music, and became a teacher there. He graduated with a degree in music from Hampshire College, and then served as the technical director of electronic music studios at Amherst College, Smith College, Hampshire College, and UMass Amherst. He has taught electronic music at Hampshire College, UMass Amherst, & Holyoke Community College.

Dinsync GILBERT

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.

via this auction

"DinSync’s GILBERT is a DIY analog synthesizer modeled after some of Roland’s most famous monosynths of the 1970s and 80s. The oscillators are based on the SH-101, the form factor and suboscillator are based on the MC-202, and the filter comes from the SH-09.

I will try not to repeat what’s readily available on the DinSync website. Suffice to say that if you’re looking for that butter-smooth, rubbery analog sound that made Roland famous, this is a great way to get there. Sequence it with a 303 or x0xb0x and you have a great little acid synth; or play it from a keyboard and tap into SH-101 or SH-09 vibes.

Additionally, it makes a great addition to a eurorack or other modular setup: in addition to standard CV/Gate inputs, you also have inputs for linear FM, exponential FM, VCF, VCF frequency and oscillator sync, and outputs for the VCO’s saw, square, triangle and suboscillator waves.

Oh! And if you’re not a fan of the PCB panel construction, a fancy aluminum case should be available directly from DinSync in the next few months."

You can find some videos of Gilbert in the archives here.

MadeOnEarth MOE Analog Chorus 60 - Pedal Clone of the Roland Juno-60 Chorus

videos uploaded by Isak Eliyahu

Playlist: 1. MOE - Analog Chorus vs Roland SH - 101
the MOE - Analog Chorus 60 is my latest pedal effect based on the Juno - 60 chorus with some add-ones.

1. Volume input.
2. Stereo width.
3. Modulation depth.
4. Modulation rate.
5. EXT CV in (LFO, ENV etc).
2. MOE - analog chorus 60 VS Yamaha DX7 and minimoog model D clone
3. MadeOnEarth Analog Chorus 60 VS Dinsync Gilbert
The Dinsync Gilbert is one of the fattest diy synths ive heard. combine the Gilbert with MOE's Analog Chorus 60 and you get a crazy bass monster!

via MadeOnEarth

The Analog Chorus 60 is a perfect clone of the original juno-60 chorus circuit.
It uses 2x "xvive mn3009" and the original Panasonic "2x mn3101" chips (rare parts!), original transistors 2SC1815, 2SA1015 and 2SK30A-GR with the exact same circuit.

Instead of the two buttons with only three rate modes, we added a knob to smoothly control the rate of the chorus, depth of the modulation and the stereo width. (the rate of the original modes is clearly printed around the rate knob for easy recreation of the original rates)

We also added ext lfo/cv input to apply other modulation sources and input gain to accommodate any type of instruments (guitars or synthesizers).
Housing in a high quality aluminum case with durable UV printing and high quality “Alpha” potentiometers.

The Best of Vintage Roland with Gilbert from Din Sync at Superbooth 2018

Published on May 12, 2018 DivKidVideo

"Gilbert from Din Sync brings together the "best of" that era of vintage Roland synths. MC-202 SH-101 SH-09 etc. It's a small desktop format DIY project for building a mono synth voice. It sounds great with that creamy filter and the extra modular level ins and outs are great for integrating it with other gear.

We're proud to have our Superbooth 2018 content sponsored by www.thonk.co.uk"

Part 1 here "A short clip on the subsequent construction of the patch to treat / process in real time from Gilbert Desmée poem, a poem will be published next April. This time, while maintaining the same guideline, I used the 259e and 261e oscillators for frequencies, the Control and Signal Router for routing de CV, the 281e for envelopes, Quad Dynamics Manager for the 292e management dynamics, the 285e in its two functions combined Balanced Modulator and Frequency Shifter (which can at times get two votes together) and of course the 222e, the tactile surface for the frequency modulations, envelopes, dynamics and panoramic.

North Coast Synthesis - MSK 013 Middle Path VCO

SchneidersLaden

"We were asked several times if we could shoot a video for this module, now it's ready - our video for the Middle Path VCO. We combined this excellent VCO with the Leapfrog Filter and a Natural Gate - to get some classic lowpass gate sounds from this massive dual VCO.

North Coast's complex VCO is comfortable on a journey to the East or the West. It contains two triangle-core VCOs, each with four waveforms and standard V/octave control.

As basic VCOs running independently these can be the heart of a traditional subtractive East Coast synthesizer. But the Middle Path's oscillators can also be used together, with or without sync, to drive its unique multi-output Gilbert-style sine shaper. The shaper, which can also take external input, offers wave shaping, distortion, folding, phase modulation including through-zero, and imitation stereo. These effects take the sound into West Coast territory.

A very nice complex/dual VCO with a massive sound and very solid build quality."

Desktop Conversion Kit for KORG wavestate / opsix / modwave

video upload by Daniel Gilbert

"Transform your Korg wavestate, opsix, or modwave into a sleek aluminum desktop synth.

Kickstarter: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/...

Tall Dog Electronics presents a user-installed kit to turn your Korg keyboard synthesizer into a beautiful desktop synth. We include all the parts and tools necessary to perform this conversion yourself. The process is also fully reversible, so you can return the unit to its original keyboard enclosure if needed.

Our enclosure reduces the footprint of your synth to roughly half its original height and depth by deleting the short keyboard and replacing the plastic case with a machined aluminum body."
