Battery Powered Mellotron!

video upload by John L Rice

"Quick test to see if this rechargeable 12 volt battery pack by TalentCell, model LF4100, would power my Mellotron Micro OK and it does! I haven’t tested it for how long it can power the Mellotron but I’m guessing “long enough”? 😄 This battery pack also has a 9 volt output and a 5v USB output. Once I find my 9v polarity reverse adapter cable I’ll try another more involved test. #mellotron #synthesizers #batterypowered"

Happy Valentine's Day 2023

video upload by John L Rice

"Partial cover version of Chicago's hit Colour My World using Yudin Workshop Pulsar tongue pan drums and a Mellotron Micro keyboard.

I started this last fall and never finished it. I was going to add drums, bass, maybe some sequencing/arpeggiations, and I even made a futile attempt at singing the vocals but no amount of editing could save it! 🤦‍♂️😅😊 So for Valentine's Day I decided to just put together the last third with just the tongue drums and Mellotron.

Early Saturday Eurorack Modular And Mellotron

"Mainly the modules in the lid of my eurorack modular briefcase: Vermona meloDicer sequencing a mostly Erica Synths voice (VCO, EG, VCA, and LFO) with Synth Tech VCF and then passed through a Mutable Clouds. Also Mellotron Micro through a Strymon Magneto. Recorded on and uploaded from an iPad.

Thanks for watching! 😎"

Mellotron Beer Review Hop Butcher For The World

video upload by Rat’s Beer Review

This one was spotted and sent my way via John L Rice who had the following to say about it:

"It’s a video from a guy who does reviews of beer. The one he reviewed happens to be called “Mellotron” but the image art on the can seems to be a caricature of Keith Emerson’s Moog modular from the mid 70‘s?! 😄 It really cool art and I wouldn’t mind having a t-shirt or poster of that! I looked around and the beer only seems available in South Carolina?"

Sign me up for a T as well.

See the Synth Beer label below for additional posts featuring synths and beer.

Mellotron M4000D - Card 05

video upload by John L Rice

"These are the sounds available on the Mellotron M4000D expansion card number 5, which will work in the original full sized M4000D, the Mini M4000D, and the M4000D Rack. (expansion cards are not compatible with the Mellotron Micro). I made this video so people that are interested in purchasing the card can get a general idea of what's on it.

INDEX:
0:00 Introduction
0:44 Strings
6:05 Vocals
7:25 Acoustic And Synthesized Winds
18:05 Synth Sounds
22:15 Organs
27:19 Pianos
28:27 Marimba
28:47 Mandolin
29:10 Synth Bass
29:30 Acoustic Bass
29:55 Accordions
30:27 Accompaniments
34:51 Drum Parts
36:25 More Accompaniments
46:46 End

The Mellotron company has a SoundCloud account and they have a lot of nice examples of the sounds on their available expansion cards, check it out! https://soundcloud.com/mellotronfactory

On this card there are individual sounds that can be played 'normally' (solos and chords as on a piano or organ etc) and many are looped so they will play indefinitely instead of the normal 7 to 9 second maximum limit that the original Chamberlins and Mellotrons are known for. There are also sounds that are to be played one key at a time as they are accompaniments like chords, drum parts, or an entire band."

Tongue Pans And Strings

video upload by John L Rice

"I should have spent more time on the performances and mixing but I wanted to just get an OK recording of this idea before I move on to other backlogged projects.

The violin is from a Roland Integra7, the cello and bass are from a Mellotron M4000D. (cello is an internal Chamberlin sound and the bass is a Gino Vannelli sound on expansion card 03)

If you'd like to buy a Yudin Workshop Pulsar tongue pan check out their site: https://www.yudinworkshop.com/"

Club Of The Knobs C911P poly EG

video upload by John L Rice

"This is the second test actually, the first one I posted on Instagram Reels and you can see the module in that one. I later added to that patch with a Moon 517 VCF on each voice, I added glide on the MOTM-650 MIDI-CV, and added in a little Mellotron M4000D underneath the mix a bit . . . and this is the result."

The C911P is a set of 5 envelope generators with completely independent channels. Each envelope has its own GATE-IN and ADSR-OUT and can be gated anytime. The four controls "Attack", "Decay" "Sustain" and "Release" control all 5 envelopes in common and makes it ideal for the use in polyphonic systems such as the C950 POLYCLAVIER. Each parameter can also be controlled by a voltage between 0 - 5V and makes the C911P programmable. Another nice thing is the feature that C911P's can be cascaded. Simply use a stereo 1/4 inch cable and connect the "Digital link OUT" to the "Digital link IN". This link however is NO MIDI but rather a high speed connection between multiple units. This new version has both, a positive and a negative Envelope Output which enables the simultaneous control of a low pass filter and a high pass filter. The "fire ALL' is a button for testing the unit.
